A nice addition for the listing script would be if the script would allow a "featured ad" or ads that would appear on the default page. , ... in addition it is a virtual include not a file. I just tried to use file instead of virtual and then the ../ includes worked on the asp pages.
This is strange because they used to work like that on the 2000 server I had these sites running on.

User Registration
The "users" folder allows users to sign themselves up and edit there accounts as well as retrieve lost passwords..
In the settings tab of the ASPProtect admin area there are options for which fields are used and which are mandatory when a user signs up. The only validation the system performs by default is checking for mandatory status. If you want to add more validation so reduce the chances of input errors that is up to you.
You can add additional server side validation by doing server side checks on the save pages... you can also make the field sizes larger in the database if you think you need to. You'll need to be good with ASP to do this.
Always backup your files before making changes to them so that you can revert back to a working copy if you mess something up.
, Well my hosting company has finally gotten back with me, so I'm having them troubleshoot the webserver to see what might be eating up those resources. So I'm in a holding pattern on this for right now., Attached is a SQL script to create the ASPProtect Database with the Option Pack Changes already applied. This lets you create the database in one step and you wont have to make the option pack changes as they are already there.
This only applies to people using MSSQL and doing a new installation.
This scripts are run via SQL Enterprise Manager.
You make a new database then run this script on it in query manager.

, Our webhost set the permissions, but the error is still there, so that is obviously not the problem. We now have both our webhost and our asp support technician trying to figure out the problem and everyone is stumped. Can you please provide us with the following information to help us out:
1) what is the name of the file that sets the connection string?
2) what is the name of the file, if it is different from above, that sets the password of the database?

Yes i never actually considered that they should log in twice.
The site uses two main url and the cookie was being stored for only one
of them. I have fixed the double login issue by making changes to
menu to ensure that they are always logging only via the url stored in
the cookie.

What I am trying to do now is utilize the "Groups" code, as generated by the Admin page, to prevent members with expired accounts (and non-members) from accessing restricted "members only" .ASP pages they may have bookmarked, or found via web search. When I am logged in the code works perfectly! When I log off and try the URL again, the page appears in its entirety but with a Login box for Username and Login Password at the top of the page. You may view the problem at: http://www.vspa.com/aspprotect/vspa-password-enter.asp .
What I would like to have happen is expired members and non-members would be sent (or Redirected) to a Login page. I do not want the Login password box to merely be inserted above the page that I am trying to keep them from visiting.

What method of displaying the banners are you using. Perhaps try some of the other ones.
Don't use the javascript method with a javascript based ad like google.. that's for sure.

I entered a password that was supposed to be all caps with only first letter caps.
it is odd, if I go to other user and enter wrong password that does not come up. it apprpriately goes to a screen that says Access Denied.

, I believe what happened is we received the older copy of ASP Banner iwht our purchase of ASP Protect and were notified of a free update to download aspbanner_unlimited_v8.2_feb_26_2005.zip which we did, and that's the one i recently put on our site.
Sounds from your reply that something technical is going on to the point where I will have to hire one of our Web consutants to dissect for us. We'll try again and track our issues and send another request for information when we can show you a specific example of what is happening. I'll be in touch.

, I am a little confused here. I am in the process of understand how this all works, mainly the email portions as I am running this through a home server (Windows XP). I have tried test emails, but they are not going threw. I ran the server_info.asp and it is telling me that I do have CDONTS installed, version 2.8. Then I tried running, the test_mailer_component.asp. This page is telling me it is not installed. This process lead me to start looking at my components for my IIS. Everything appears to be there.
Any ideas, where I should go next. It appears the CDONTS code is in every page that it needs to be in, and it appears that I have it installed, but there is a disconnect between the two..

Every application we sell that has a password on the database uses "temp"
Also, the password is in the connection string in the dataconn_inc.asp file.
After all, the ASP code needs to know the password just like anyone that wants to open the database would.

That i have, my question revolves around the all the users and passwords that I in that database. I need to be able to export that list to word for a mail merge list, but when I do the passwords show up encrypted. I need to be able to get an unencypted list.

, That's because when the page rebuilds, it uses the default number of
users per page setting. You'd have to modify that default setting to
have it do things differently. I used to have mine set to 500
users, until I got past 300... then it wasn't fun to show all users on
the page anymore. I now like 10 per page and searching for
specific users as needed.
But that's me. If you hack a COPY of your default.asp file (with the
original backed up as above), you can get the value set to one you
prefer.
If you want me to find the value, post and I'll look for it later on.

backup in case you do the wrongest thing possible in your haxxoring.

ASPVendor is a VERY simple application meant to work with PayPal shopping cart that runs on their server. It is based off the ASPClassifieds core code. There is only one version and highly doubt there will ever be another., I have sent an registration email (as test) to both a yahoo account and also my own email server and in both cases I get the same issue, all else is working great. Are you using an image resizing component ?
Have permissions been set on the import folder ?

If not please put it on a live server where I can troubleshoot it for you.

In some cases in order to receive proper tech support your application will be need to be installed on a live server on the Internet. We simply cannot troubleshoot all issues when the application is only installed on your local machine. We also may require access to your server in order to troubleshoot any issues.

Did you create it using the SQL scripts we provide as that is extremely important ? , it might.. I might be wrong though as I guess that could still be an issue with access not being able to keep up.. and then the xml parser just isnt getting the page it is requesting in time, Humm, Did you change something in a bad way? Thats my guess.
I need more information on what is going on because by default it does not do that ?
The only possible way I can think of that could cause that is if you changed things around too much and the config_inc.asp file is getting run/included twice on that page your logging in to.
Also, when you sign in "where" ? What page ?

We installed our key onto the live server.
However, since our temp key has expired, we can't access our application on our development machine because the login won't work anywhere except on the live server.
Of course we can access the application on dev, if we remove the aspprotect tags, but if we need to log in to do something unique to the user, then we have a problem.
Can we get another temp key from you? And would there be a better long term solution to this debug/maintanence issue?

, Actually it is my own server (retired email server from my employer). I will check out the documentation again. I DID read that part, but didn't understand it enough. I'll dig deeper. Also my box has 2 CPU's, hence the $125 for ASPImage..., Okay, got it!! just in case anyone else is having the same
problem, after creating the new thumbnails using the
"generate_new_thumbnails.asp". Turn off the random photo
selection for a 10 minutes or so, and then turn it back on.

It would be 20 hours + of conversion and testing. Maybe more.
Like I said, I converted a version fo ASPBanner once to work with MYSQL. It took forever to change all the code (2 weeks of messing around) and get it working. There were also a lot of issues with null values in the database, ado update code that had to be rewritten, cursor type issues, recordcounts not working, etc etc that had to be sorted out. There was a ton of situations where things seemed to be working but later on I noticed there were minor bugs to deal with. It was a lot of work.
ASP Photo Gallery has a ton of asp pages. It is a much larger app then ASPBanner. If you convert it to work with mysql I highly doubt you could have it running well with less than 20+ hours of work. I wrote the app and it would at least take me that long and there would still be bugs at that point.
If you think you could your not used to my style of coding and don't realize exactly how much stuff needs to be rewritten.
Granted, you could get some of the basics running off mysql in a few hours or less but there is just so much little stuff that would give you trouble.

The out of the box GalleryConnectionString tries to access a catalog called aspgallery and a user id aspgallery
