Well I have the web hosting tech looking into the memory issues at this point. Unfortunately I don't have another machine to be able to run the asp on that would run it correctly so that I can just publish it over.

I haven't moved (or messed with) any critical files within the directory at all, just placed them as a job lot into a subdirectory call aspprotect.
All I did was put all the files directly into a directory rather than into the root because some of the subdirectories had the same name as some already in use and would therefore have been overwritten.
I'll go back and have another look in the cold light of day (its too late tonight UK time).

to finalize this thread.... turns out I was correct and this person was not unzipping the zip file correctly. , I just moved servers and now my "code" ads are giving me errors...
"google_ad_width" is undefined.
I have tried adding the width and height... taking it out.. all the basic stuff.
Any ideas?

This bug was mentioned by a couple people. The cause of it was never really understood until I recently re-wrote some of the banner code for an upcoming version.
The fix for this bug was very simple. It was just one of those weird situations where code should have worked but did not. I added some code to do it a bit differently and it worked as it should have..
It really still makes no sense to me why it didnt work the way it was, but at least there is a fix.

For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.

, It looks like your product is perfect for my new site, but I have one question. One of the pages I want to protect on my site will be called by an application running on a remote server every 15 seconds. The application can include the username and password in the URL it is calling. Will your product allow access to the protected page on my server? , 5300 users honetly wouldn't even phase the database or the code... even with MSAccess...you got other problems and I can say that with 150% certainty
my guess is permissions on the database folder are not quite right or the odbc drivers have issues.. something along those lines..
access databases act up when full modify permissions are not given to the folder they are in.... they can also act up if the odbc drivers are very new and you are not using a newer version of the access database such as 2002 version as opposed to a 97 or 2000 version
using a system dsn as opposed to a dsn-less connection can also cause BIG issues. always use a DSN-LESS connection
you can also have big problems if just the database file is given permissions instead of the whole directory it is in
also, the script timeout has nothing to do with it.. if that is happening something is wrong with the data connection like I said... no amount of changing timeouts is going to cure it...

I know it worked at 1st but it can still be related to all of this because when permissions are not perfect databases will work ok for a while and then act up. it all has to do with the temporay lock files that access creates and deletes on a regualr basis
, Is it possible to set the user account time limits when they register? I am using email verification and am trying to have their accout expire 32 days after their initial login.
Also I have an issue with the email notification not notifying me when a new user logs in. It does a beautiful job notifying the new user. I do not understand why my server will send to one and not the other, I ahve searched the links but none seem to answer this.

, you can whatever you like but like I said those gif files are already in the correct place. The log parser is messing up. , Things have now changed I found out godaddy has persitis aspUPload and aspjpeg as value added products, I have the aspjpeg working but have been unable to upload when using aspUPload, everything works fine with the vbscript method so I think my permissions are correct. Whenever you get a chance, any help would be appreciated.

, Well my hosting company has finally gotten back with me, so I'm having them troubleshoot the webserver to see what might be eating up those resources. So I'm in a holding pattern on this for right now., Our knowledge base which is hosted at a remote location is protected by ASPProtect Full Version 6. I would like to allow our employee to access the knowledge base from within our internal network unchallenged. Is there a way which I can modify the code "check_user_inc.asp" to allow any one coming from say 10.1.X.X to access the site unchallenged?

that is not possible unless you rewrite the code.
You onlyahve the two options we give in the config file for thumbnails

One more questions for you. is there a way to make sure that all the thumbnails are the same size without distorting the images (in the thumbnails). Or if a picture's height is bigger than its width is there to create the thumbnail such that the height of the orginal becomes the width of the thumbnails and vice versa.
Basically I just want the thumbnail pictures to be in a perfect row with all the picture heights the same and all the pic width the same.

"admin/email_user.asp" had an unrelated bug in it that only happened if its error handling got triggered... it was posting back to the wrong page when that happened and causing an error

I'm doing an upgrade from an OOOOOOOOOOLD version (not sure if it was 6 or not) and it read my database OK prior to adding a new user. Now I get this error message. I was able to run the password encryption function OK, but I still get this error when I try to view the password_admin stuff. I can log in via the "get_me_in" asp page just fine, but I get the above error.
If I try to log in with my admin account, I get

OK, my question is this... if I retype all the info from the old DB into a brand new one, never before used, that would work, right? I only have 108 users, so that's about an hour of work. Or is there a 5-minute fix that I can try? I've done some messing around that got nowhere and returned all edited files to their original state, with the exceptions of the ones calling the DB location.
I'll start the C&P process and await your reply...
On a side note, I really love the new format and am excited about the new features. I'm not married to upgrading the DB and if copy and paste is faster (I just need first name, last name, username, password, email, and expiration date), then I'm using v.7 that much faster.

1. What is telling paypal to return the info to the ipn.asp page for
processing? Is that something I have to set up in my paypal
account?
2. I'd like to use Paypal's
auto return. I assume the return page would be ipn.asp?
Would I just need to add a redirect to the login page at the end
of the appropriate txn_type if/then statement?

, I just installed ASPProtect on my site. The instructions were definately on the target. Very very good instructions.
But... Isn't there always a but ??? 
I needed to setup my site with MS SQL and it is hosted so I don't have Enterprise Manager. I tried the web based Enterprise Manager and any other one I could find. But, I kept getting errors when trying to use the SQL Script.
I finally had to go back to my work where we do have the licenses and get an SQL Admin to use Enterprise Manager to run the script and it worked finally.
I don't know if this is a common problem ??? But, maybe you would want to look at the SQL Server script or make a different version that would work with the Web Based SQL manager.

, Well. fontpage publishing is evil. That you have found out.
Do not use it. It usually wont work right when running asp code locally and also at the server because of differences with the paths and virtual directory structure. etc etc etc
You can definetly use frontpage to connect to the web site live and drag and drop files into it/edit them... but the sooner you stop using the publishing feature the better off you will be.

, You really can not do something like that. You can not use client side code to change a server side session variable.
To make changes server side a form must be submitted or a link clicked on to another page. Then you can do whatever you like but you cant have an onlci event update a session variable like that.
Though I am not sure of exactly what you are trying to do I think you'll need to go about things a little differently.

To begin this process I'm taking each page and I'm wrapping the ASP
Gallery code with my site design [essentially I'm allocating this
application the center of the page]. When I pull in the
default.asp into the site the contents of this page make the entire
page too wide. I can't see where ASP Gallery assigns itself a
width.
I'm working on this as a side project so I'm not terribly far along
since I need to change all of the font assignments within the system to
style assignments and it's a slow go.
Any insight would be a great help, there's a lot of re-write in what I'm doing and i don't want to affect functionality.

cause running that page without a path for the files could cause a timeout.. thats why the link doesn't show if the path is not entered (so people won't run it)

the path must be valid for your file structure and it must have correct permissions (when creating files) , Nobody ever asked me, so i guess npegley sorted it.
The solution is indeed a single line added to your button form code ..
eg :

This will overwrite any settings you have in your paypal preferences.

The 2checkout support in ASPProtect actually is not supposed to work with 2checkout subscriptions and therefore does not need to use an item number.
It is intended to be used for single payments only with 2checkout as explained in this thread.

Single payments with 2checkout use their shopping cart which allows for dynamic payments without needing an item number.
I agree with you that 2checkout's interface is confusing. It's actually about the worst system I have ever seen. I could not make a 2Checkout subscription system because their system is just too limited and I couldn't make it work the way it really needed to.
