no, you cannot unless you plan to write a lot of custom code.
That is why the option pack has groups which eliminate the need to use access levels because groups can do everything access levels can and more.
There is an article here regarding that.

carefully edit with a text editor
find this part

that is where the acess level gets set...
you can change the level or remove that line all together if you dont want one set
now for groups you would add this line in the same area
CmdAddUser.Fields("Groups") = "*3*"
or
CmdAddUser.Fields("Groups") = "*1*,*2*,*3*"
Groups access for a user is stored in one field in the database like you see above. If you are confused what you should be saving in that field I suggest simply setting a user to whatever groups you want via the admin area and then looking in the database to see what got saved in that field. It's pretty simple really how they are stored.

that user would be a member of groups 1,5, and 9

, My server is Server2003. I could not find the folder settings you mentioned. I did find a iuser which I added as specified. I retried to perform an upload. Still same message. But it does move the JPG to the picture folder. So, part of it is working. , Installed latest verison Doesn't seem to have corrected problem. Still with same message. I wonder if deleting this user and putting him back in might help. I have not however tried any other user names and passwords.

, ok, If we wanted to user groups, is the "Access Level" in the User setup the same ID as what the group access would be? Ex. If John had Access Level 4 and the page specified <% GROUPACCESS = "4" %>

I do not know if that actually works but from what I have been researching it looks valid and it may solve your problem.
Also: The value may need to be Current Language=us_english
You'll have to try them, I would like to create a login form on the home page which will not be password protected to the site for members so that they can login right from the home page and not a password protected page like many sites have. And every portal I have seen.
Plus the login form looks really pretty and proffesional on the home page

I can't find anything in the documentation that says how to do this or if it's even possible. Everything I have found says to password protect a page and then direct them there which isn't what I would like to do.

, one last thing... if you did an upgrade from a previous version and didnt do the whole database field thing right during the upgrade process as stated here you could have trouble.

Meaning you should check your new database with the field structure of an unmodified new database and make sure all field names match up perfectly.. especially paying attention to the username and password fields
One last thing..
If you did an import via text file and didn't import all the fields ASPProtect needs you could possibly have problems as well.. though I don't think this relates to the timeout so it probably is not the case

What is the difference between the paypal_sub_signup and the paypal_signup directories? Also, I know it depends, but what directories and files can I delete from my web server if I am not using them? I copied the entire set of files that came with the program over to the webserver and I am concerned that there is too much out there.

If the filesystem object is disabled on the webserver it will not work either.

But I did realize after reading your post that I am using Firefox and everyone else was using IE. When I used IE, I was able to duplicate the error.
But, alas, I am unable to resolve it. Client will be using IE, no doubt.

If you are using ASPProtect Version 7 it is possible because version 7 supports html emailing. In any other version it would require some custom coding to add html email support. You would have to sort it out by experimenting and editing the emailing code. All the email methods have documentation on the web in some form or another showing how to send html emails.
Also,
sometimes depending on the email component being used and the email client reading the email a link in a text based email will get hyperlinked automatically. For example outlook usually will do that, but it doesn't always in other situations.
Lastly, we have special upgrade pricing should anyone want to upgrade to ASPProtect Version 7. It really has a ton of great features.

However, in the last few days my site was taking too long to load, so I replaced the AspHttp component, with Javascript method. The site was back to speed. But now, the Google Adsense banners do not show up. Is there a solution for that? Can the Javascript show Adsense banners also? Any connection strings that come in the datacon_inc.asp file the way it ships are examples. We fully expect people to edit them.
Also.. the SQL scripts primarly goal is give you a properly set up database with correct files and table settings. Users and permissions often need a little extra attention from the installer as that part doesn't always get set right by the scripts It really all depends on what sql user you are when you execute the scripts. Many times the user someone logs in with doesn't have permission to make users and set permissions.

It brings up the login page, but when I enter the admin/test, it times out. The DB is the copy with no password and it resides in a directory on the same server hosting the site but it is not in a folder viewable by web users. This is how the dataconn_inc.asp is set:

2nd I always recommend using CDOSYS before any other email component. All servers have it running by default and ASPProtect supports some a html editor if you use that component. I would give that a try as well. It's the best emailing option.

cwilliams38325.8264583333, It is not something I did when I wrote the emailing sub routines. You would have to edit the email sub routine for CDONTS and add something to it most likely. The email sub routines are in the "scripts" folder in the "emailing_subs_inc.asp" file.
I am not sure you can do that when using CDONTS though I think you can do it with CDOSYS. You would have to do some research and edit the code like I mentioned.

After all these are ASP scripts we are dealing with and the product is called ASPProtect.
The web site says it is used to protect ".asp" pages
And the directions tell you to put the protection code on ".asp" pages.
ASP can not run in ".html" pages
If you do not know basic things like this you should really learn the basics of ASP before you try to use the application. I would suggest a good book or two. ASPProtect is for people that have at least some experience with Active Server Pages.

, It seems that if a user attempts to access a page that is not in their access level or they do not have the group permission they are redirected to the login page. Re entering their ID generates an eror and they cannot go back to the pages they are alowed to access. Is there a way for them to simply be blocked and return to the previous page or to a defined page so they can continue using the site?
