My client has a list of 13,000 members that
have already been assigned ID's and passwords with a
homegrown system.
When doing a bulk import, will we be able to retain the userid and password or will a new id be assigned during the bulk load?

I have installed ASPProtect on a client's website and I have been
notified that some of their customers have been unable to login to the
protected pages.
On testing it seems that the issues seem to be related to how cookies are being stored by IE 6.
ASPProtect is being used to protect particular template files within a
Content Mangement System. 90% of the time it is working fine but on the
odd occassion particular cutomers are unabe to login.
After quite a bit of testing I have managed to find the scenario in
which it starts to have problems and was hoping you may be able to
provide a solution.
If a customer enters the wrong password, then reenters the correct
username and password, they receive a message "template can not be
found" from the Content Management System. This message is generated
when a url is entered that contains a link to a template file that does
not exist. In this case the template does exist. If I remove the
ASPProtect code the page opens without error.
Everytime they re-enter the details they receive the same message.
If they close down the browser and then reenter the correct details in some instances the page will open correctly.
More often than not, they have to delete cookies and temporary files
and close the browser. This seems to fix the problem again for
most users. For users who's web access is heavily cached by an internal
server, even this does not work.
Have you come across this problem before and can you suggest a remedy.

If you would like me to, I also have no problem going into your machine real quick via remote access and setting permissions / putting the right connecting string in there for you.

I was thinking it worked like this; A user goes to that page and logs in.. and from there they can then browse the site and do what they want..
So in order for it to work i need to edit a page say... members.aspx (i assume it needs to be an asp.net page) and in the header put that protect code and when a user accesses it, it will prompt them for their un and pw and then if correct will allow them to view the page... and likewise if they are still logged in will be able to use the page?
If that is how to works as i mentioned above thats great...
I understand the redirect principle...but say i have a log in box on the main page... you know like most pages have a user log in on the left hand side... i wanted to do that. But i cant obviously protect the main home page or else normal users will not be able to view it without logging in or registering , sometimes those emails take a bit... all depend on wht you are using to send them and whether a pickup directory is involved

if it is a 2003 server parent paths must of course be enabled.. its a requirement of aspclassifieds , I really do not know for sure, but I imagine there are customers using their windows hosting. Usually I do not know what hosting company a customer uses and I am usualy the only one that responds to forum questions.
Why not download the current Free lite version and try it out ?

, OK, I just spent like an hour in your site.. I almost gave up
1st off... I don't know what FTP Program/Settings or what OS you are using but all the ASP Protect Files had been reformatted in a odd way which was causing some issues and the database also had problems. Your somehow introducing all sorts of UNIX line breaks to all the files and the database was actually missing some crucial parts of itself and was corrupted. So I had to update everything which means a new database. I have never seen anything like it but I fixed it all. Its something you are doing but I do not know what. Maybe your unzipping method again ?
So to get back into the admin area...

Now, the reason the albums were not showing is because you are using the ole connection string which causes problems like that. However because you host has like the worst setup ever with that network path crap for the site that was the only connection string that would work for some reason.
I highly suggest a new host with a proper setup for running ASP. www.alentus.com
Your hosting companies setup is horrid as far as I am concerned.
Access Databases are not meant to be connected to via a network path.

Anyway, I rewrote some of the code because of the ole connection and got the albums showing up for you.. who knows what other problems that OLE connection may bring up in the future.. for now things I tested seem ok.
As for your broken image in the your header/footer... You cant link to images and links using virtual pathing in those includes because the files are called from different directories and will work in some and not others
so when your in the root you see the image, when in a different folder you see a broken image

Lance , If you makes you feel any better the photo gallery app runs awesome off an access database. Mostly because all of the picture work is done in the filesystem, not the database. The load on the database is relatively low even with a lot of users., If you can would you do it for a price as a mod or will this be added to the new version. , Hi Chris
After turing off the delayed stats feature the internal errors have stopped and it still serves banners, although I havent checked the logs yet. I will and post any errors.
I left my test page up last night at say 11pm serving 4 banners of different sizes rotating every 15 seconds, now at 9am the page is just displaying 1. If I refresh the page they all reappear.

It may be best that I stick with html then. You mention that is stresses the Version 7 software, would the unlimited version perform any differently if I use multiple zones?
Also, if I do go with a single zone, would either program be able to make sure each banner is unique, or would there by duplicates for each page view?
Sorry to post so many questions in one day. , Something very strange is happening. Some users can't see the classified ads in their browser. This is specific to the user's computer, and they can check other computers and see it fine.
In each case, the user is using windows explorer 6.0 browser with windows xp.
they can't see the ads listed on the ads page, but they can see the categories.
also, they can't see the place ad link on some pages.
Do you think that their browser is blocking the javascript for the mouseover message?

I've got a page with a form that includes an input field with
'type="file"' for uploading an image. The page posts back to
itself to save the info to the database and run the code necessary to
upload and resize the image.
I need to limit this page to a group. So like usual, at the top of the page I put:

This gives me the error: "Cannot call BinaryRead after using Request.Form collection"
I have used ASPUpload and SA-FileUP before and know that this is caused
by the components having their own .form collection. This script
is using "Pure ASP File Upload" from DMXZone for the upload which I'm
not familiar with.
So...my question is, do you know a way around the BinaryRead problem wtih ASPProtect?

It's probably because his password used with your encryption key by chance creates a single quote and messes up the database query

I had about a dozen people access the same account, but it is highly unlikely that they would all try at the same time (unless there were several hundred people who had access). Having an enhanced login abuse would be nice.

I'm in a bind cause I'm supposed to be launching on Monday!? I have four different subscriptions set up in ASPProtect and I'm going to 2Checkout for payment. When I go to 2checkout I have the same 4 subscriptions setup.
How does ASPProtect know what product id to use in 2Checkout?
I have the redirect setup etc. but it's using the default URL in 2checkout and not the product(Subscriptions). The only way I can tell what the user selects is from the price... and I'm specifying the time period, the cost, group in the 2checkout1.asp but I'm not getting the user set for the periods either.... my main problem is the interface to 2checkout... I think if a product id is added somehow it might work. What can I do?

As for only happening once in a while. It could be a lot of things.
Version being used (when did you purchase.. what name/email was it under and I can look) ?
What banner method being used?
Access or MSSQL ?
How busy the site is ?
Server Resources ? cwilliams38414.6114930556, Those access levels are not used and are nothing to worry about. They are left over from the ASPProtect core which I used for the users area of ASPBanner.
I am not sure what you did but its not a none, Unless I know more I can not make any guesses what happened. I would make sure in the database that the user is active and the expiration date field for them if there is one is empty, Hi,

Now when I tried to register, it seems like it goes to the next page, but it is blank.

could be permissions related too.. if they are not set correctly
(always give them to the folder, never just the mdb file)

you may want to download some of the different versions of the access database from the support area and try connecting to them as you may have older odbc drivers on the server
You may also want to try to get ASPTest from our website working before you go any further , Its a great idea. I didnt really check the counter until the album started working. Its a great concept though., I am having trouble getting any information to show up in the log files
directory or anything showing up on the log files tab in the
administrator. I have set the following variables under the
settings tab:
UseLogFiles checked and
value of LogFileDirectory is "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wf\data\logfiles"
I checked the permissions on that folder and they are set so that the Internet Guest account has full control on that directory.
I also checked RecentActiveUsers and RecentPageRequrests.
I am sure I am missing something simple but no files are ever showing
up in the logfiles directory...anyone have similar problems or at least
successes?

as far as that goes I have no idea.. I have never seen that message before but you are not suppose to run that page by itself regardless.. it is an include file not meant to run on its own , Well, you cant have a login box on the home page when using ASPProtect.NET.. there is no way to make that work. I tried all day to come up with something and it is not going to happen. I suggest you make a login button and link it directly to the protected page you want them to start on. The redirect or link them whereever from there. Either that or write your own forms based authentication solution that works exactly the way you want it to or edit the code accordingly since you have the source. It is not a feature we advertise for the product regardless. It works the way it works. , you have to do it like I show above... your not specifying the field name to be searched in the instr function so what you just showed me will not do anything
You also should not have the > 0 stuff in the function because it is testing the result of the function.
You have to do it just like I showed , Sounds crazy. I recently took over this web site and all IT duties. User today said member area was not working. All pages would not display. After restoring some files I got the members area partially working. But I cannot find where the database sits. I am able to get in and view users in the admin are and log in as a member. Thanks.,
