All fixed and working
Thanks , Ok, I tried what you suggested but the program won't let me leave the
date area on the banner ad blank. I reset it to a date in 2010.
I deleted the Level 1 Access note in the notes area.
I then attempted to access the banner stats using the correct info and
the right link. Again, got this message:
ACCESS DENIED
INVALID Username & Password
Username HAS EXPIRED
Any ideas? Should I just delete the whole account and start fresh?
TIA,
Laura
,
when you get back to work.. your "redirect.asp" needs the password include file at the top of it.. or that wont work either..
and of course those pages you send people to all need to be repaired , Personally, I really wouldnt worry about. Personal Client virus software like that is not really meant to run on servers anyway. That software is meant for client machines, not web servers.
Any Server designed virus product will not incorporate script blocking features because servers often need to run scripts when dealing with ASP, PHP, CFM, etc etc
That article I link to has more on all of that.
Turning that off is nothing to worry about. I been running IIS servers for 8 years. , Dear Christofer
I already have send you the details you asked me for. Please let me know if you have received , this error really does not mean anything specific
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
If you get an error its real weird that the file is being uploaded. Generally if you get an error during upload it is because of one of these 3 things
Invalid physical path specified
Unsupported upload method chosen
Permissions
See my article on XP and permissions http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_xp_pro_and_permi ssions.asp
many people dont do their permissions right on XP Pro and that article covers everything , well, I think John just told you what the deal is. He knows more about ASP.NET than anyone else I know.
If you are going to run a non-standard setup then you are going to have big problems like you are having. , in that file "upload_post.asp"
change
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Response.End End If %>
to
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Then Response.End End If %>
, Using "Email Authentication" as a registration option you cannot do that. There is no possible way I know of to have a delay on the authentication email like that. Also that method is not intended to involve any sort of manual registration like what you are doing.
Because you want to review people manually you need to change to registration process to "manual" and then send the email out manually from the users screen after making a user active. , someone has to do something other than me.. i've given up
if i give u the username/pw can you set this up on the network solutions host and ask them to set whatever permissions are needed?
cant do it anymore.... , OK, I just spent like an hour in your site.. I almost gave up
1st off... I don't know what FTP Program/Settings or what OS you are using but all the ASP Protect Files had been reformatted in a odd way which was causing some issues and the database also had problems. Your somehow introducing all sorts of UNIX line breaks to all the files and the database was actually missing some crucial parts of itself and was corrupted. So I had to update everything which means a new database. I have never seen anything like it but I fixed it all. Its something you are doing but I do not know what. Maybe your unzipping method again ?
So to get back into the admin area...
admin test
Now, the reason the albums were not showing is because you are using the ole connection string which causes problems like that. However because you host has like the worst setup ever with that network path crap for the site that was the only connection string that would work for some reason.
I highly suggest a new host with a proper setup for running ASP. www.alentus.com Your hosting companies setup is horrid as far as I am concerned. Access Databases are not meant to be connected to via a network path. http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2168
Anyway, I rewrote some of the code because of the ole connection and got the albums showing up for you.. who knows what other problems that OLE connection may bring up in the future.. for now things I tested seem ok.
As for your broken image in the your header/footer... You cant link to images and links using virtual pathing in those includes because the files are called from different directories and will work in some and not others
so when your in the root you see the image, when in a different folder you see a broken image
In other words.
link to
http://www.vickerylightning.com/gallery/vickery_template5_r2 _c1.jpg
not just
vickery_template5_r2_c1.jpg
The same goes for hyperlinks.. use the full url paths
Whatever you do...Back up the gallery folder with my changes before you go doing anything. , ok, 1st we need to rule out the #1 reason people sometimes think that is not working.
Is is set up never to allow the same IP to increment the count more than once in a row so when testing it is real easy to think the count isn't working because unless you can change your ip you can not increment the count more than once per album
It's a poor mans spam abuse type of deal.. For the most part it will keep some Joker from hitting refresh 100 times and inflating the count of an album.
Do you think that is possible what is happening ?
Also, here is an older thread about the same issue? http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo54-2.htm , This is great documentaion for windows script 5.6 in windows chm file format for jscript and vbscript.
We use server side vbscript in all our our ASP 3.0 applications so this info can be a lot of help.
2005-02-18_150921_vbscript_docs.zip
cwilliams38401.6321990741, I would say that it isn't all that difficult using mySQL for the backend....the main thing is to make sure you set the primary keys for auto-incrementing in your database. Alos need to make sure that any DELETE SQL statements are formatted like this
DELETE FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
and not
DELETE * FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
The same holds true for using MSSQL , IT worked just as cwilliams said. I did see the IP address being stored in the table but it didn't dawn on me that it was tied in to the view count, I tried it from a different IP address and it worked great .
Good coding Christopher
Thanks
John , i've got a client who has handed me a 151 character banner URL, and i see that the database is designed to take 150 characters. i took the obvious step of just increasing the size of that text field in the database, but i still get this error when i try to enter the URL in the proper form field:
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
/banners/aspbanner/save_banner.asp, line 200
now, line 200 is just this:
If Banner_Link_URL = "" THEN CmdEditBanner.Fields("Banner_Link_URL") = NULL Else CmdEditBanner.Fields("Banner_Link_URL") = Banner_Link_URL End If
which tells me that something is blocking the assignment of that long value to that field, even though i believed i had extended the length of that field in the source database.
where else might i look?
, well, assuming that function works and is vbscript not vb (if it is vb code it may need some conversion work)
anyway
in "users/add_new_account.asp"
you would put the code for that function anywhere in the page.. it does not matter where as long as it is in code tags <% %>
then.. right under this part of the same page
If Zipcode_Postal_Code_Required = True Then If Zipcode_Postal_Code = "" Then ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You need to enter a Zipcode_Postal_Code.\n\n") End IF End If
add this
If Check_Postcode(Zipcode_Postal_Code) <> True Then ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You need to enter a Valid Zipcode_Postal_Code.\n\n") End If
No guarantees but that is the gist of it cwilliams38381.6456828704, You might just learn something and actually get your project finished before 2010
your over there hacking away on your virus infested WaReZ machine
LOL thanks for the good laugh-- i guess its time to do some reading and making my own mods to the program..
btw i never insulted cafrepress.. not sure where you got that from- just advised that what they have is exactly what i want to have done. How much for your service? , Chris,
I've given the IUSR account modify access for the aspprotect folder.
In the ODBC manager module on the webserver I've taken out the aspprotect access driver option.
The dataconn_inc.asp line reads as
ConnectionString = "DBQ=D:\missourirealtor.org\members\aspprotect\data\database \ASPProtect_access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp"
Now this should make it DNS-less correct? with the permissions set properly?
I've also taken out the password on the access database.
The original database of users I had was an access database from a different program called spooky login. I exported them into a tab delimited file and changed the column headings to match those in aspprotect exactly. Actually access would not let me import them in the databases without them being exact.
I imported that information directly using access's import options. I tried the import/export manager in aspprotect but kept timing out as well.
, Hi there,
Well, that is why we added the PayPal subscription pack where all of that is taken care of and customers get put under a recurring billing cycle. The more people you get to pay that way the less you have to do.
We also have routines for the two other supported payment methods so people can look up their account and add time to it whether it is active/expired or not.
Other than that, yes it is something you need to sort out on your own based on how you want to run your system. You have the source code and the sky is the limit on how you want handle all of that. You send out an email to users about to expire. Whether they come back to the site/look up their account and add more time to it is up to them. I really just do not see any way ASPProtect could handle that whole process automatically.
As for batch changing to users in the database. We give you the source code and we also use an open database structure. You can run any query you want on the database whether with ASP code or directly in your database using the tools that come with it, You can write any code you like to do whatever you like to the database. You can even tie other systems and code into the database via OBDC and manipulate data. The sky is the limit like I said. I also don't really see how batch changes to the database relates to individual users paying again for access or not especially since we include payment pages were a users can look up their accounts and pay for and add more time to it automatically ? At least not regarding the payment routine we provide support for.
ASPProtect can not handle everything every person would need to do. It is meant as a solid starting point for any project, but there are going to be times when more functionality will need to be added by the customer based on their specific needs. , You can also try setting asphttp's user agent property to some browser version like in this example. It might stop that info from showing up when it fetches a page from the server.
<% Dim BanObj1Http Set BanObj1Http = Server.CreateObject("AspHTTP.Conn") BanObj1Http.UserAgent = "Mozilla Compatible (MS IE 3.01 WinNT)" BanObj1Http.Url = " http://banserver.powerasp.com/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?Ba nnerZone=1" Response.Write BanObj1Http.GetURL set BanObj1Http = nothing %>
Also... I dont know if these values below will work but I got them from looking at my nt logs.
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
And here is more info on the asphttp component and it's settings. http://www.serverobjects.com/comp/asphttp3.htm cwilliams38248.6481365741, SQL Server Datareader Datawriter Permissions..
here is a screenshot that shows how to set datareader and datawriter permissions on an aspbanner database using "SQL Enterprise Manager"
In this example we are making sure the aspbanneruser has those permissions on the aspbanner table in the database

cwilliams38325.8002893519, sounds like trouble with the SQL database.
Did you create it using the SQL scripts we provide as that is extremely important ? , Help!.. I need to export the username and password fields to a mail merged letter so everyone knows their username and passwords. However whenever i access the database or do an export. The passwords showup as encrypted. Is there a way to access the list, un encrypted?
thanks , Some users have reported an error during the registration process. Here is what I believe is happening.
When you register you get sent a validation email that has a link in it that looks something like this.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum//activate.asp?ID=testAD3AD2 97BC
That link can only be clicked on once which will activate your account.
If you somehow run that link more than once you will get a message telling you there was an error.
I think some people are double clicking on the link they get sent and running it more than once.... or clicking on it again after registration is complete. It probably happens very fast so they never see the success screen.
Either way, if you can login to the forum nothing is wrong and you are already activated. cwilliams38089.6248842593, You shouldn't be renaming or moving anything... unless you really really understand what you are doing and are at an expert level expert as far as ASP coding goes.
like I said earlier.. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=354&ge t=last#1130
redirecting with version 6 is not supported but this thread tells you exactly how to set it up (I showed you this thread in an that earlier post)
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=17&KW= redirect
This thread below may also help in case the page you want to start on with a login form should not be password protected..
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo18-2.htm , Just got back 10 minutes ago.. Missed plane yesterday because of traffic and the flight today was 3 hours plus 4 hours of driving
The fact that you are using Server 2003 is not relevant. I am very familiar with it and all my sites run on it.
The ASPNET account will be there by default once the .NET framework is installed. It won’t just show up in the list, you have to search for it like my article mentions.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_2003_server_and_ permissions.asp
That error really means exactly what it says. You have to give that account permissions correctly. , Editing the look of the login page.
In this version editing the look of the login page is very easy. You can make this login page look exactly like you web site if you like.
You want to edit the "scripts/login_form_inc.asp" file.
It can be edited with any editor as long as the existing bits of server side code in it and the login form remain in tact.
The best thing to do is back it up before you start editing it. Then if you goof it up you can revert back to the original.
If you edit this page with FrontPage enable the "show all" feature. Its the little PIE sign in your icons. It will show the server side code as yellow things on the screen so you know where they are and can be careful not to delete them.
see screenshot
cwilliams38448.8132638889, Below is the email I received when testing the self-registration. Does anyone know what setting I configured incorrectly?
I received the email to confirm the registration but the link to activate is invalied.
Thanks!
Your registration still has to be validated. Go to ?u=bubbaj&v=4579 to verify your registration.
, thats a new one... I need some sort of error to go on..
No error ever ? It must eventually show something ? , I have never heard of such a thing... If the settings are enabled for the web it should work. That is, as long as your include file syntax is valid.
I run my own windows 2003 server (you are on it now) so I should know
for troubleshooting
try a very very simple example... like a file in a folder.. with a server side include to a file under it
and see if that works
use real simple asp files with nothing crazy in them... and an include like this
<!--#include file = "../myfile.asp"--> cwilliams38434.5388773148, OMFG, People who have the option pack have a new feature called groups.
Groups are meant as a replacement for using the access levels as they are much more powerful. Support for pages protected using access levels is left in tact for backward compatiability for a customers older protection code.
A customer recently told me groups could not be used like access levels and that 8 access levels was not enough. This is how I explained that groups can do everything access levels can do.
Groups can honestly do everything access levels can do if you really think about it. Using groups and protecting pages accordingly you could actually create a system that basically worked identically to the way the access levels works.
For example..
You make 8 groups and assign users to them accordingly
Protection code on page allows access to groups 1-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any one of those groups would have access..
Protection code on page allows access to groups 2-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "2,3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any group between 2-8 would have access..
Protection code on page allows access to groups 3-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any group between 3-8 would have access.. cwilliams38114.800775463, UPDATE: read whole thread.. Version has been delayed
These are my personal notes on the new version of ASP Photo Gallery that should be out sometime in May/June 2004. Please ingore any typos.
This version may be more expensive than the current pro version as this is a major re-write and there will be a ton of new features.
Regardless, special pricing will be offerered to existing users.
If you see any features not listed that you think would be nice please post them here. We will of course consider them.
ASP Photo Gallery Version 4
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------
Finished Improvements:
new setup page makes setting up the data connection easier than ever it attempts to determine the possible data paths and makes suggestions for what to try when you finally get the data connection working it gives you a link to the admin area of the application so you can get started using the application
all database table names can be specified in the config_inc.asp file for advanced users that they may need to change the table names in the database.. helpful for sql installation where one sql database must be shared by many applications
new data folder is the only folder that needs permissions set before multiple folders needed permissions now everything can be put in this folder... database, logfiles, configuration files, picture upload folders... eventually all cjwsoft applications will do this allowing multiple cjwsoft applications to use that same folder therefore making it easier than ever to setup more applications without asking your host to set more permissions
new text based config file makes it easier to add new options to the program without making changes to the database structure... therefore the need for the configuration table in the database has been eliminated this also reduces system resources needed to load the config data for each page because it eliminates calls to the database for config data
added voice effects for data connection page, intro users page, and settings page
made it so ratings color was an option (red or blue)
fixed minor bug that wasn't showing fixed category heights when that was selected and am image wasn't originally sized that way during initial upload
changed logfiles dates so they always show up in the proper order 09 vs 9
added config option to change bit query value to 1 or -1 default it to 1.... this is a technical thing
added the extra options currently in the config file to the settings page so people do not have to manually edit that file any longer...
added new persits email option and authentication options to the settings page
added new CDOSYS emailing option
added support for dundas emailer
added support for ASPSMARTMAIL
fixed word filter so if it is empty it doesn't mess up also make editing it part of the main settings
made email functions include file and edited all page that email to use it
added css/style sheet support and removed a lot of the old font tags
seperated the settings page into sections because it was too big and confusing
added ability for text watermarking when using the ASPImage component
made the picture upload error message no longer mention browsers that do not support picture uploading as that is confusing people... and the problem is never that anymore
Made the ASPImage test page delete the bar graph before creating it so if it is already there they will not think it is working
added crystal ball feature to admin users screen... shows additional user info when you hold the mouse over it
Made search function highlight search word in results. Made the search function search the image description text files as well
Eliminated the guestbook directory as there was no need for the guestbook to be in it's own directory. This also simplified the menu.asp file as the guestbook section could be removed.
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------
Possible Improvements:
eventually make new and much better directions/documentation... html based for multiple reasons
Eliminate the need for parent paths to be enabled on the web server. (THIS MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE) Many hosting companies disabled parent paths and will not enable them for their users. On Windows 2003 Server Parent Paths are disabled by default.
make it so users ability to upload pics can be optionally disabled
possibly make some of the special functions in the extras folder built in to the admin area
Make the category picture uploader smarter because of the jpg gif issue when reuploading cat icons A jpg loaded over a gif.. doesn't delete the old gif graphic and vice versa
Reduce number of ".asp" pages in general.
Use more functions for redundant tasks.
Optimize all instances of the old filefound function which is using more resources than are necessary
option.explicit the entire application and get all the variables dimmed once and for all
possibly incorporate the new category system I am working on which allows for unlimited categories and levels also simplifies the heck out of the pages that call the categories
possibly add some cool image manipulation functions such as rotation for the various image components supported
possibly add the ability to move pictures around in an album. and maybe between albums I must also remember to move the ratings and desc as well for that image.
possibly add the ability to make individual pictures require approval
possibly add the streaming image ability (asp page called from image tag) I came up with as an option for people that can use it. this will better secure images in password protected albums and also possibly make it so images can only be viewed from certain urls.. and maybe make an interface for a list of allowed urls
improve the .net support to also resize the larger images.. currently it does not
possibly add a feature to store 3 versions of images uploaded thumbnail, medium res, and high res/original this will appeal to professionals or people that may want to sell prints storing a large version will be optional
possible support for multimedia content other than gif and jpg images
fix... url to link to.. problem on control pics page when both a jpg and a gif are present... which also relates to a another slight bug that needs to be taken care of
make interface in admin to listen to installed midi files and also to upload / delete them
possibly make per album guestbook... or call it something else like disussion or comments
add option to store the images orginal name in the images description area during upload may be helpful to people that name their images in a somewhat descriptive way
change approval settings so they work on a per user basis eliminate access levels from edit user screen and get rid of the level 4 stuff mentioned possibly add a per user option for individual pic approval as well if I get that feature implemented
add support for the ibulc bulk upload client that I recently discovered it is very cool cwilliams38325.8264583333, I dont know. Perhaps a fresh installation in a new folder would be a good idea as well if possible..
for troubleshooting sake.. , We would like to use some of the variables from the user account in our web pages after they log in (something like, 'hello <user>"), but for professional printout reports using company name and user.
Could you offer some help as to what variable string we use to print that information on logged in pages?
By the way, the program is working great!!! cwilliams38446.6302083333, Triple check the upgrade instructions because I think you missed something important.
line 227 on "/password_admin/save.asp" refers to the "Password" field
the error your getting most likely means it is not there..
Pay close attention to the areas in the upgrade instructions regarding renaming your existing "Password" field to "Old_Password"
Then making a new "Password" field and carefully following the instructions needed to convert your old passwords for use with the new system.
If you don't everything carefully and perfectly this is the sort of error you will get.
cwilliams38451.8787268519, To finalize this thread.. a target was added to the form by the customer by accident thus causing the situation, Hi all
User activity screen shows history of logged-in users.
Is it possible to view only those users that are currently logged in ? not the all users that have logged in previously
thanks in advance
