, Or at least I think so. I have been trying to get this software to work so I can see if it meets our needs for an upgrade purchare. Here is my error.
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e10'

My provider says that the problem is NOT on there end, that it is a problem with the code. I think that it is a database connection problem. Can you please help. Below is my connection string based on what the setup page directed me to do:

Once again, the looked into it and said the permissions were fine and that the code was most likely bad. But then the errror changed to the one that I first listed. Which is the one I am currently getting.

It just sits there indefinitely without an error being returned. The only clue I have is that it seems to be connecting to the database when I try to log-in. I know this because I decided to erase the files and start again, but I could not delete the database because it was "in use". After I rebooted to clear that connection and erased the database, then re-did the install, the same condition exists after entering the key on the get_me_in.asp page. It just sits there indefinitely., Chris:
The string is being saved and I get a .wav ring sound to confirm. I have tried editing in "notepad" and then running the "data/show_path_info.asp" file after with the same results.

I just had a series of fraudulant orders this past week including today and the whole thing has me on edge. (foreign people getting my code for free and doing who knows what with it) When you mentioned calling the cc company it pushed all the right buttons.
Merry Christmas, Just as an FYI, I found the problem. FP2003 has an "Optimize" feature that removes so called not needed spaces and comments from the pages. It also completely screws up .ASP code.
I turned off the optimization feature and all the pages I was having problems with worked. However, I would still recommend not using it too!

, The problem was in config_inc.asp. we had renamed the field in the DB but didn't change it in this file.
But we changed it, it is back to normal.

, if it is your own XP machine there is no reason you should edit that config file manually.
simply set permissions on the data folder and all the folders in it and the application will write to the config files on its own... if you are having problems chances are you are not setting permissions correctly.. please read all of this

cwilliams38167.6469328704, I agree -- don't use the code as is. I provided it only as an idea for a work-around if your ASPProtect users with Internet Explorer complain about the Page Expired message.
I did not test it to be sure the parms coming into the target page (which would be part of the URL when bookmarking) are properly preserved. It would be easy to make sure they are preserved, but I am not sure the code in the example does that. I also customized the code with my own page header and footer.
I have the Option Pack but the site does not need it yet so I haven't applied it. I don't expect many problems re-applying my few lines of modifications.
The IE behavior is not a big deal if you provide an explicit login page, since users would have less interest in paging back to that. In my case, I simply gave a link to a protected part of the site, and when they take that link, they instead get the login form if they aren't logged on. Once they log on, they get their desired content page, to which they sometimes want to page back later on.
From searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base and other sources, I could not find a way (using HTML) to turn off IE's behavior of refusing to quietly reload a page containing form data. Netscape does not do this. So my IE workaround is to ensure my target page does not contain the login form. It does not solve the cause of the problem, but in this case it gets rid of the Page Expired error message for my IE users.
I also purchased ASPProtect for another site, and I'm using that "out of the box" unmodified. I'm very pleased with ASPProtect's functionality and the fact that it works completely without the need to customize. However, I've found it is very easy to customize if I want to.

that is not possible unless you rewrite the code.
You onlyahve the two options we give in the config file for thumbnails

One more questions for you. is there a way to make sure that all the thumbnails are the same size without distorting the images (in the thumbnails). Or if a picture's height is bigger than its width is there to create the thumbnail such that the height of the orginal becomes the width of the thumbnails and vice versa.
Basically I just want the thumbnail pictures to be in a perfect row with all the picture heights the same and all the pic width the same.

If your application can post to the page and provide all the form variables needed to log in it may work out for you..
You'll have to try it out... all the form variables needed are in that login form example.
Basically you'd be posting to a protected (.asp) page..
and providing the following for the most part.. how your app creates it post data is on your end...

As an alternate scenario...
Now, by default the "check_user_inc.asp" file is looking for posted form data... for security reasons it is not looking for querystring info..
If you change this bit of code in that file

to
Username = Replace(Request("Username"),"'","''")
Password = Request("Password")
It will then grab either form or querystring data...
Meaning you wouldn't necessary have to create a true post to the page with form data. You could just access the page via a querysting like so

Of course that introduces security risks as the username and password would be passed in plain text over the net
Another option is...
You can also make a copy of the "check_user_inc.asp" page called whatever with those modifications just to use in pages you need your little application to post to... thus reducing the security concerns a a bit as the rest of yoru site could still have its pages protected under the normal scenario.

In the mean time try connecting to the access database with no password on it as well as the access 97 version that I put in the data folder... and see if it runs any faster...screens like the user screen should load fast... not after 15 seconds of waiting like they seem to be doing right now
If none of that helps which it probably wont I can set up the database for you here including the importing later tommoro when I am done pouring concrete
, I have accessed the "get_me_in.asp" page and entered the password encryption key. Once I entered it, I was taken to the ASPProtect Admin Area Login. It does not give me the option to create a new user as is described in the general installation documentation. How do I access the program now?, again.. more custom code work would be required to handle it

do you realize that the descriptive name you give a group is not always going to be the same ID in the database ? The two are not related.
Perhaps what you named Group 1 is really group ID 3
You can tell for sure by generating protection code for group 1 and see what ID it tells you to use..
You also need to remember that you are testing this with different users and it is really easy to get confused so you need specifically log off using the log off page to ensure session info from the previous login doesn't show up and cause confusion when you log in with a different user... etc etc
in addition to logging off that way you may also want clear the session and application info via the code at the bottom of my article

By default all of the Access Databases we give out have a default password of "temp"
The Default username that and Access database uses is "Admin" but you should not be concerned with that except in your connection strings.
The default password for the Access Database can only be changed using Microsoft Access to do so. If you have security concerns it would make sense to change the password. The help system built into Microsoft Access best explains how to do that.

the reason I said look at the aspprotect 7 code is cause the applications and database are very similar and the same techniques will apply for the most part as far as how the ipn subscription posts from paypal talk to the database and what happens during the various post events.. etc etc etc , you password protect an asp page in your site "where that is is up to you"

Additionally...any page you password protect automatically becomes a login page... where you want to start and where you send them after or before login is something you have to handle on your own
Any pages you pasword protect will prompt the user for login info if they are not yet logged in that is.
Then once logged in it returns them to the same page they are showing the page content as it would normally appear.
