I have added two users in different group access but none of them can login to the pages
, Chris,
Another question on V7. I set up all the paths as required for the extras like user pics and exports on my site. They were working fine. I created an export, then as you recommend, deleted the file on the site to ensure it doesn't get in the wrong hands. I did this a few times to test it after a number of people logged in.
About 2 days later, I went to do it again and the system came back with an error saying the directory didn't exist. I know it did because I created it and it worked fine. I then created the directory again thinking I was losing it.
Then today, I went to do another export and the directory is gone again! Can you help me understand why this might be happening? I am the only one with FTP access to the site so there is no way that it could be someone else doing it. The error I get is:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'
Path not found
/password_admin/export.asp, line 78
Thanks, Dave ,
You might just learn something and actually get your project finished before 2010
your over there hacking away on your virus infested WaReZ machine
LOL thanks for the good laugh-- i guess its time to do some reading and making my own mods to the program..
btw i never insulted cafrepress.. not sure where you got that from- just advised that what they have is exactly what i want to have done. How much for your service? , you actually dont touch any of those UploadDirectory = CmdGetConfiguration("UploadDirectory") They get set from the config table in the database which gets edited in the admin area.
so...
I am talking about the settings area in the admin area of the applicaton. Every setting there is descibed in detail. You get there and change serttings there via the web browser and by logging in as the admin.
Log in to the online demo as admin and check out the settings area if you are confused. http://www.aspphotogallery.com/demo_pro.asp
, that is because passwords in the import/export files are encrypted.. if you make one of your own you need to use the rc4 function in the "config_inc.asp" to encrpyt your passwords just like the aspprotect system does (requires knowledge of vbscript and integration into your export system)
now, there is a way around this
if you want to import a file you made with clear text passwords edit "import.asp" beforehand and change
If UserArray2(5) <> "" Then CmdAddUsers.Fields("Password") = UserArray2(5)
to
If UserArray2(5) <> "" Then CmdAddUsers.Fields("Password") = RC4(UserArray2(5), PasswordEncryptionKey)
that way it should convert your clear text passwords to encrypted while it does the import
this post also addresses this but in the reverse scenario http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=261&PN =1&TPN=1
I hope this helps you because I really do have to leave the office like right now. Very late for a dinner meeting.
I should be back on the computer later tonight or tommoro morning , Is the user ID case sensetive? In my case I use the user email as the login ID., Running in parallel for testing is actually a smart way to do it, but the truth is you don't use anything from version 6 except the upgraded database (we have a tutorial on how to upgrade the database)
Version 7 was a drastic change /rewrite to all of the asp files that come with the application. So you will be starting out with fresh version 7 ".asp" files and folders... You will also find that once you get version 7 running that editing certain things like the look of the users area and the login screens is much easier to do.
That being said any of your own ".asp" pages that you protect use the same protection code they always did, so there will be no drastic changes needed there when you do finalize the upgrade.
If using MSACCESS as the database I suggest installing the application somewhere in your web and using a fresh ASPProtect 7 database. Once you are familiar with the setup and everything is working fine. Attempt the database conversion and when your done stick your converted database in there and see if everything is ok.
Also, if you already purchased the application download the latest version before doing the install. It's the same download URL. If you don't have it email me and I can hook you up. I have added some new features and fixed a couple minor things since it's release.
So far the feedback on version 7 has been awesome.. cwilliams38414.0133680556, All can say right now is take a break and get away from it for a bit. All your going to do is stress yourself out more if you keep working on it.
There is probably a way to make it work but it may require days of fiddling around and reading articles and trying things and even then you may not get it working AND THEN ITS JUST A BAD IDEA ANYWAY. Like John says you are better off running it on a server that is not a domain controller. , Or at least I think so. I have been trying to get this software to work so I can see if it meets our needs for an upgrade purchare. Here is my error.
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e10'
No value given for one or more required parameters.
/aspprotect/scripts/populate_config_variables_inc.asp, line 15
My provider says that the problem is NOT on there end, that it is a problem with the code. I think that it is a database connection problem. Can you please help. Below is my connection string based on what the setup page directed me to do:
ConnectionString = "data source=\\NAWINFS03\home\users\web\b1347\rh.957theride\asppro tect\data\database\ASPProtect_access2002.mdb; Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=temp"
When I first set up the program I got this error:
Provider error '8000ffff' Catastrophic failure /aspprotect/scripts/populate_config_variables_inc.asp, line 11
Once again, the looked into it and said the permissions were fine and that the code was most likely bad. But then the errror changed to the one that I first listed. Which is the one I am currently getting.
BTW here is the page address
http://www.957theride.com/aspprotect/password_admin/get_me_i n.asp
Thank you! , Hello,
Thank you for the feedback.
I would like to point out the requirements of the application however as this is something I am aware of and do address.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo165-1.htm
These requirments are directly linked to from the ASPProtect v7 web page, so its not like I dont try to tell people the deal regarding SQL server.
Basically I only have the resources to provide scipts and instructions for using SQL Enterprise Manager and that is all I officially support. I also personally think anyone using a SQL Server should be using SQL Enterprise Manager because later on down the road there are things you may want to do such as backups/etc etc
Take Care,
Chris Williams www.CJWSoft.com , thats actually just the xml parser component barfing out on you.. it can't handle the load of being called so much on that server
you might want to try some of the other methods of calling banners, Yup, it probably means the virtual directory is not configured as an Application in IIS.
You did put this in a plain folder in your web, correcct ? Not a subweb
Regarding the application settings for the virtual directory.. if it is your server you set that stuff up in the IIS console.
If hosted somewhere it is there responsibility to have that set up correctly for you and you need to contact them and ask them what the deal is. cwilliams38455.9035300926, ahhh ok.. I was going to wait till morning to answer this one..
glad ya figured it out
, I am having trouble getting any information to show up in the log files
directory or anything showing up on the log files tab in the
administrator. I have set the following variables under the
settings tab:
UseLogFiles checked and
value of LogFileDirectory is "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wf\data\logfiles"
I checked the permissions on that folder and they are set so that the Internet Guest account has full control on that directory.
I also checked RecentActiveUsers and RecentPageRequrests.
I am sure I am missing something simple but no files are ever showing
up in the logfiles directory...anyone have similar problems or at least
successes?
Thanks!!
, I used Dreamweaver4 to make my site is there anything I can do to make it work? ,
I have switched to Alentus and have the permissions set correctly and Parent paths turned on. I cannot figure out how to connect to the database. Should I have the database in the aspprotect/data/database folder, or in the data folder that Alentus has in my root directory? once that is determined, how do I decide what the path to that database is? I have tried many things, but this is what the setup page tells me to enter in the data_conn file DBQ=D:\Websites\www.mysite.com\aspprotect\data\database\ASPP rotect_access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp
Thank You , Different Versions of the Access Database
Below is a zip file with many alternate versions of the Access Database provided to help with installation and general usage.
2005-02-20_155310_ASPProtect_Database_Versions.zip
ASPProtect.mdb is saved as an Access97 database (password "temp") ASPProtect_access2000.mdb is saved as and Access 2000 database (password "temp") ASPProtect_access2000.mdb is saved as and Access 2002-2003 database (password "temp") ASPProtect_access2002_no_password.mdb is saved as and Access 2002-2003 database with no password set on it
Try to use the newest version as server odbc drivers sometimes have to use the newest version for everything to work correctly. No password version is provided because sometimes there are issues connecting to a database with a password set on it.
Default username for access databases is of course "admin" but you really dont use that except in the data connection information. cwilliams38403.6840277778, Okay, thanks, I'm going to change the method tonight and see if it makes a difference
I'll report back
Dave , Well my hosting company has finally gotten back with me, so I'm having them troubleshoot the webserver to see what might be eating up those resources. So I'm in a holding pattern on this for right now., Help!.. I need to export the username and password fields to a mail merged letter so everyone knows their username and passwords. However whenever i access the database or do an export. The passwords showup as encrypted. Is there a way to access the list, un encrypted?
thanks , Those access levels are not used and are nothing to worry about. They are left over from the ASPProtect core which I used for the users area of ASPBanner.
I am not sure what you did but its not a none, Unless I know more I can not make any guesses what happened. I would make sure in the database that the user is active and the expiration date field for them if there is one is empty, When I go to set up a new user, my user name and password are already in the window. And I am un-sure why. I start a new browser, and again that my same user name and password is in that window., this error really does not mean anything specific
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
If you get an error its real weird that the file is being uploaded. Generally if you get an error during upload it is because of one of these 3 things
Invalid physical path specified
Unsupported upload method chosen
Permissions
See my article on XP and permissions http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_xp_pro_and_permi ssions.asp
many people dont do their permissions right on XP Pro and that article covers everything , ok, well if you want to test on your own.... in the ipn.asp file for the subscription folder you will see this area of code used for testing
' Un-comment this section and give this directory proper permissions to enable logging to a text file ' Very helpful for troubleshooting ' Set ObjMyFile = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") ' LogFileName = ("paypal.txt") ' 'Open Text File.. If doesn't exist create it and append to it .. If exists just append to it ' Set WriteMyData = ObjMyFile.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("paypal.txt"),8,True) ' RowHeaderString = "" ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & OrderID & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & Custom & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & User_ID & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & subscr_id & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & txn_type & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & subscr_date & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & Access_level & vbTab ' RowHeaderString = RowHeaderString & Groups ' WriteMyData.WriteLine(RowHeaderString) ' WriteMyData.Close
now that folder will need modify permissions for the text file to be written to but this is a good way to test if the ipn.asp page ever gets hit by paypal.
ITS REAL IMPORTANT THAT THE TEST FILE CAN BE WRITTEN TO OR DOING THIS WILL JUST CAUSE MORE ISSUES
To ensure the text file can be written to and permissions are correct for that folder you can make a new .asp in there and run this to see if the text file writing works
Set ObjMyFile = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") LogFileName = ("paypal.txt") 'Open Text File.. If doesn't exist create it and append to it .. If exists just append to it Set WriteMyData = ObjMyFile.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("paypal.txt"),8,True) WriteMyData.WriteLine("the file was written to") WriteMyData.Close
Now, you can even change the location of the text file to place that does have permissions if you like.
This is what I would do if I was in there... then I would make some test payments using 1 cent and another paypal account (your allowed 2)
and see what happens
it is always possible the subscription code may have a bug in it. The last time I tested I only tested the single payment folder which worked perfectly. If I have time in the next couple days I am going to test the subscription stuff again. If there is something wrong I can cure it quickly.
The two routines share a lot of code in common. cwilliams38421.6488773148, sometimes those emails take a bit... all depend on wht you are using to send them and whether a pickup directory is involved
as for the other I do not know.. PM me the site details I can look
if it is a 2003 server parent paths must of course be enabled.. its a requirement of aspclassifieds , Upgrade from V6 to v7.x with an MSSQL SERVER DATABASE
1st of all, backup your existing ASPProtect files and database before performing this upgrade. Please be really careful while performing this upgrade. Version 7.x is a highly advanced application compared to any previous versions. CJWSoft under no circumstances is responsible if you lose information or have website downtime.
BOTTOM LINE: (PERFORM THIS UPGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK)
To do this upgrade you're going to need to have SQL Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer
That being said, on with the upgrade..
Open your SQL database in SQL Enterprise Manager
Regarding the following Tables
Rename "Users" to "ASPP_Users" Rename "Groups" to "ASPP_Groups"
If you do not have a "Groups" table do not worry about it right now.
Now right click and DELETE the Config Table. Yes, delete it..
Now, go into Design View for the "ASPP_Users" Table.
Rename the "Password" field to "Old_Password" Be sure to spell it perfectly using the Underscore
If you have a "Groups" Field... leave it alone If you do not have a "Groups" Field add one and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 255.
Now, we are going to add a few more new fields.
Add a field called "Redirection_URL" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 150. Add a field called "PayPal_Subscriber_ID" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100. Add a field called "Newsletter" and make it a "bit" field Add a field called "Password" and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100.
Now close that window and save the changes..
Download these scripts. 2005-02-23_171110_aspprotect_v7_sql_upgrade_scripts.zip
Now open up SQL Query Analyzer Connect to your SQL server.
Then load the script "aspprotect_v7_config_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer. Click the green play button at the top. If everything goes well the response should read something like this.
****************************************************** (1 row(s) affected) ******************************************************
Now, if you had a Groups Table your done with the database changes.
If you didnt have a groups table.
Then load the script "aspprotect_v7_groups_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer. Click the green play button at the top.
Now, go back to your database in Enterprise Manager and make sure all 3 tables are there and look ok. You might need to do a refresh or two to see them.
Now make sure an existing or new SQL user has (public / datareader / datawriter) permissions for all three tables. You reference this user in the asp code connection string so this user must be set up correctly. You may need your SQL server admins or hosting company to help you on this step as you may not have access to do this. You may not need to create a user and set permissions as the sql user you were logged in as to use query analyzer may by default get the correct permissions on anything you create.
Regardless, as you can see from this screenshot I have a SQL user called "aspprotectuser" and proceeded to set the permissions for that user. Under database access giving him (public, datareader, and datewriter permissions).

Now, you are done upgrading your SQL Server Database.
The existing passwords still have to be encrytped and moved from the "Old_Password" to the "Password" field
To that we have a special page we run in the application that will take care of that.
So, for now... go install the application, but using the database we just created. Follow these instructions for the most part... http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=181& ; ;PN=1
When you get to the part where you finally get into the admin area and need to make an admin account you will notice that your existing user database is there but none of the users have passwords if you look at them in the edit screen.
That is normal. Simply do what the instructions say and create and admin account using a username that does not exist..
Then log off... then back in as that new admin account. If that works you are ready to convert the passwords.
This part is very easy.
You want to run a special page via the browser.
http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp
Replacing the part in blue with your website info.
Once you get the page running you will see a login prompt and one form field just like before with the "get_me_in.asp" page
You will need to paste the "PasswordEncryptionKey" value that you used in the "config_inc.asp" file in the form field and hit enter.
If all goes well you will see a page telling you to click here to encrypt the passwords and copy them over.
So do what it says... dont click more than once and wait.
Eventually it should say it is finished. So go log in to the admin area of the system using the new admin account.
Now edit some users but dont save... you want to see if the passwords are showing up. If they are the conversion worked. If you see nothing or a garbled mess it did not work and you made a mistake during this whole process.
If things went well backup and delete the conversion file below.
http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp
You do not need it anymore.
Once you are positive every thing is running smoothly and everyone's passwords are ok you can go in and delete the "Old_Password" field as well.
If things didnt go well.. try again from scratch and go slowly. If they still dont go well get ahold of us for help.
We are here to help, but if you really want us to we can be hired to do the conversion. , 1st off.. you appear to have some strange things going on with that domain. Looks like you have a frameset and are loading another domain in it which is always confuding especially if you are running the site off your home computer or something... I am not sure
That aside..
If I go to
http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/default.asp
and click on the "familiy" category
then right click on a broken image.. look at properties
Your linking the image to your localhost
see
http://localhost/rfamilystuff/pictures/Pic_3_1_thumb.jpg
and that is wrong, just like I said above
Nobody running the site off any computer but your development machine is going to see those pictures because the url isnt valid for them
My guess is in the settings you have the "PictureURL" set to
http://localhost/rfamilystuff/pictures
when it should be
http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/pictures
Good luck with this.. I am going to the bar. If you need more help I probably will not be available until Monday. cwilliams38394.7688773148, Hi,
The source code comes with it. They are the.vb files.
I don't give out any project files for reasons stated in the article below.
Please read this in full if you want to edit the application in Visual Studio.NET
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo85-1.htm , Lastly, I put there information here to help, but please don't ask me any questions about it.
I am not microsoft SQL server support. If this doesn't work for you simply start troubleshooting and doing google searches like I do. , First pass through, I don't see anything changed in the groups section of the check_user asp file. the logoff asp wasn't touched.
I noticed the demo online (on this site) only has pages protected with access levels; you say it works fine with groups also? , ASPProtect v7.x has a new feature called groups.
Groups are meant as a replacement for using the access levels as they are much more powerful. Support for pages protected using access levels is left in tact for backward compatiability for a customer that was using them.
A customer recently told me groups could not be used like access levels and that 8 access levels was not enough. This is how I explained that groups can do everything access levels can do.
Groups can honestly do everything access levels can do if you really think about it. Using groups and protecting pages accordingly you could actually create a system that basically worked identically to the way the access levels works.
For example..
You make 8 groups and assign users to them accordingly
Protection code on page allows access to groups 1-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any one of those groups would have access..
Protection code on page allows access to groups 2-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "2,3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any group between 2-8 would have access..
Protection code on page allows access to groups 3-8 The aspprotect system generates this code for you…
<% GROUPACCESS = "3,4,5,6,7,8" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
In this case a user assigned to any group between 3-8 would have access..
and so on... I think you should get the picture by now , if you are talking about IPN subscriptions and how they work paypal has detailed manauls on their site.. if you are talking about asp.net in general there are probably a lot of good books..
the reason I said look at the aspprotect 7 code is cause the applications and database are very similar and the same techniques will apply for the most part as far as how the ipn subscription posts from paypal talk to the database and what happens during the various post events.. etc etc etc , Thank you for the response to my question. In the mean time if I can figure any workaround I will post it here. , Sounds cool.. post info when you get it sorted out
thx
hopefully someday I'll get the new version finished.. I just never seem to have time. Lately ASPProtect takes up all my time and now aspclassifieds seems to be in need of a new version more so than asp photo gallery
, Thanks Chris.
Yes i never actually considered that they should log in twice.
The site uses two main url and the cookie was being stored for only one
of them. I have fixed the double login issue by making changes to
menu to ensure that they are always logging only via the url stored in
the cookie.
Thanks for your hep,
Stuart
, Well, I had no more trouble after I read the instructions.
The PayPal integration is really neat stuff! WOW! And the email
users function got up and running in a snap... this is an awesome
package!
The coolest thing with the user registration is that the account
username and password are selected by the user. That is very very nice.
Much less typing for me to do.
, look in the "check_user_inc.asp" file
Thank you that did it !! , How to set a new users expiration date.
You'll need to edit the "users/add_new_account.asp" with a text editor.
Find this section..
<% CmdAddUser.Fields("ValidateEmailCode") = ValidateEmailCode CmdAddUser.Fields("Access_Level") = "4" ' PUT YOUR CODE HERE CmdAdduser.Update ID = CmdAdduser("ID") CmdAdduser.Close Set CmdAdduser = Nothing ConnPasswords.Close Set ConnPasswords = Nothing %>
You'll want to add code like this right between the Acccess_Level and Updates section
CmdAddUser.Fields("Expiration_Date") = Date + 60
That will give take todays date and add 60 days to it. You can of course do whatever you want here.
Actually, any database value for the user can be set during registration.
You can also change the default Access_Level to whatever you like.
cwilliams38088.4986689815, Hallo,
What do I have to do for inserting around 6,000 new users?
I have all my user in an access file. I don't know the password of access database files. The same problem with the "aspprotect upgrade pack".
Sorry for my English
 vaghelis38300.2319097222, Hi,
We use ASP Protect to password protect the pages in the member area ( http://www.pti.org/members.asp )
Of late Once or twice every month our whole site goes down and it gives us a "Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800a006 Overflow: Clnt //global.asa line 33 " error message (with the friendly message turned off). When we reboot the web server things are up as normal.
But this is happening too frequently and creates a bad impression.
Any suggestions on how we could prevent this would be greatly appreciated. ,
