Just installed software, when I attempt to log on I get the following error (actually this is after I moved some of the include files to user).
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
/gallery_admin/default.asp, line 25
The Include file '../dataconn_inc.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.
What do I need to do to fix?
thanks. , I am testing this now and there is something wrong.
PayPal is hitting the ipn.asp but the database is not being updated.
I will figure it out shortly though and post the anwer here. ,
This is the error that I am getting when I try to add a banner...
[code]Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e09'
EXECUTE permission denied on object 'sp_ASPBanner_GetZones', database
'aspbanner', owner 'dbo'.
/aspbanner/appinfo_inc.asp, line 67[/code]
also, when i go to the banners tab i see this in the banner list...
[code](3 Banners Found)
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '='.
/aspbanner/banners.asp, line 306[/code]
Help., Chris -
I am encountering a problem with items showing up. When I click on a category and then select an item to view I get
THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER ACTIVE DO NOT CONTACT THIS USER AS THIS ITEM HAS BEEN TURNED OFF OR THE USER HAS SOLD THE ITEM.
I have verified the item has the item_active check. For giggles, I even unchecked with the same results.
Thoughts? , Can I copy the file into the export folder and then the import user function?, Turn off "Show Friendly HTTP error messages" If you are getting errors with your ASP application go to Internet Explorer and make sure this setting is unchecked. Having this checked can cause a generic error to be displayed in you web browser when ASP code encounters an error. This generic error message doesn't really help you fix the problem. Having this setting unchecked will usually result in a more detailed error message and the line number the error is occurring at, thus giving you a good clue as to where the problem is within the ASP code. If detailed ASP error messages have been disabled at the server level this setting will make no difference. cwilliams38084.7513773148, Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.
Thanks,
Dave , I have been working on this all night long. I have been reading every possible article. I have created an ODBC connection on the server.. which i have never done before? Still nothing. I looked at the machine.config file... i read about impersonating whatever the hell that is... I am really stressed out. I have the 1.1 framework installed.
I read about dsn and dsn-less connections. Is there another way i can connect to the database? Without using a username and pw maybe?
, When using the ASPProtect admin panel. My firewall software is going crazy or Blocking it on the Mass E-Mail, Newsletter, and other pages.
Here are some of the messages:
[Unauthorized Access Attempt] This signatures detects an attempt by a web server to deliver a malicious HTML page to a browser client, in an
[Suspicious Activity] This signature detects HTML documents attempting to spoof a link destination in the browser's status bar.
I am using Black Ice...
Will users also get this kind of activity from the pages ??? Or is it only because of using the Admin Interface of the software ???
Thanks
, I am having trouble getting any information to show up in the log files
directory or anything showing up on the log files tab in the
administrator. I have set the following variables under the
settings tab:
UseLogFiles checked and
value of LogFileDirectory is "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wf\data\logfiles"
I checked the permissions on that folder and they are set so that the Internet Guest account has full control on that directory.
I also checked RecentActiveUsers and RecentPageRequrests.
I am sure I am missing something simple but no files are ever showing
up in the logfiles directory...anyone have similar problems or at least
successes?
Thanks!!
, Is there a simple way to upgrade from 7.x Lite to 7.x Full? I was testing out the software and I just purchased it. I have made some look and feel changes to the lite version (ie: login page), but no look and feel changes to the admin section. Is there certian files that I can add to have the full version without shorting myself features or functionalbity?
Thanks , We want to insert a hyperlink i the mesage area when we e-mail users from the Password Admin area. Is ther an easy way to insert the hyperlink so when the user gets the e-mail, they can just click on it and go the the page we want them to?
Thanks,
Andy cwilliams38456.0983101852, The PayPal feature that is in ASPClassifieds has always been labeled as experimental and has never been supported as the documentation says. About a year ago I stopped even mentioning the feature on the product pages or in the live demo because I didn't like how it worked and I decided I would just market the application as a free based classifieds. It’s just not something I can support or talk about. To work really well it really needs to be coded to use PayPal IPN and a credit system. Where ads and various extra features cost so many credits and people have to buy credits before they can post any ads.
That’s about all I can tell you. It's just not something I support. , How to set a new users expiration date.
You'll need to edit the "users/add_new_account.asp" with a text editor.
Find this section..
<% CmdAddUser.Fields("ValidateEmailCode") = ValidateEmailCode CmdAddUser.Fields("Access_Level") = "4" ' PUT YOUR CODE HERE CmdAdduser.Update ID = CmdAdduser("ID") CmdAdduser.Close Set CmdAdduser = Nothing ConnPasswords.Close Set ConnPasswords = Nothing %>
You'll want to add code like this right between the Acccess_Level and Updates section
CmdAddUser.Fields("Expiration_Date") = Date + 60
That will give take todays date and add 60 days to it. You can of course do whatever you want here.
Actually, any database value for the user can be set during registration.
You can also change the default Access_Level to whatever you like.
cwilliams38088.4986689815, thx, thats a known error I forgot about.
I just updated the zip archive so the error is gone but if you bought ASPBanner Unlimited Version 7.3 Before April/06/2004 you can optionally apply the fix.
To fix it (only if you want to use the option explicit method of calling banners and not even a really necessary fix as this is just an error in the generated code your supposed to use)
Just edit aspbanner/zones.asp with a text editor.
Where you see the double dim carefully remove one of the "dim" s and save the file. cwilliams38209.9251851852, Glad your getting the hang of it.
no difference as far as that goes. It is just different ways to reference the server side include file and it's location on the server cwilliams38457.6019675926, Please Note : Users with the option pack a new feature called groups that is much more powerful than access levels.
More On Access Levels
Again, Examples of managing Access Levels are provided in the "multiple_access_levels" folder included in the root of the Password System. Look at the source code of the ASP pages in that folder with a text editor to see the working code.
Access Levels and how they work can be re-coded to work in many different ways. However, you have to be a good ASP developer to make changes to it. Here is some information on how they work by default and also info on an alternate scenario we have provided.
In the "check_user_inc.asp" that comes in the root of this system Access Levels works as follows.
Level 1 has Access to - Level 1 Level 2 has Access to - Level 1,2 Level 3 has Access to - Level 1,2,3 Level 4 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4 Level 5 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5 Level 6 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6 Level 7 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Level 8 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ADMIN has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,ADMIN
The "check_user_inc.asp" included in the "extras" directory is an example of changing the access level checking code to work differently. In that "check_user_inc.asp" Access Levels works as follows.
Level 1 has Access to - Level 1 Level 2 has Access to - Level 2 Level 3 has Access to - Level 3 Level 4 has Access to - Level 4 Level 5 has Access to - Level 5 Level 6 has Access to - Level 6 Level 7 has Access to - Level 7 Level 8 has Access to - Level 8 ADMIN has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,ADMIN
If you get creative you can create some interesting access level checking scenarios.
Here is some additional info..
If the access levels are too restrictive you can ignore them all together and create your own totally custom solutions. Here is a quick rundown of some of the things you can do.
Ok... so if you want to be really specific about what each user can see and can't .. here's an example of what you can do
Don't use the access levels before the include file.. Don't worry about what you set a user to in the admin area since the access levels won't be used.
Do something like this..
Every time a user logs in session variables are set that you can access at any time.. thus allowing you to know who they are.
So you could do something like this...
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<% If Session("USERNAME") = "bob1267" or Session("USERNAME") = "carl45" or Session("ADMIN") = "True" Then Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "Yes" Else Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "No" Response.Redirect(Request.ServerVariables("script_name")) End If %>
The following URL explains what Redirects are. http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/redirects.asp
That would in effect create totally custom access levels.. but you would have to do it manually for each user.
You can also do things like this after a person logs in
Show custom html to any specific user based on either their username or access level ... like so
say there was a menu and a certain link should only show up to username "paully67"
you could do something like this
<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE></TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY>
<br> <a href="main.asp">Home Page</a> <% If Session("USERNAME") = "paully67" Then %> <br> <a href="paullys_page.asp">Pauls Stats Page</a> <% End If %> <br> <a href="links.asp">Links Page</a>
</BODY> </HTML>
Or you can show custom HTML or links based on Access Levels or any other info.
You can do just about anything with if-then statements and using the built in vbscript functions..
Hopefully this info will help to give you some ideas...
Bottom line is you have to do some work within your site to make the Access Level system really come alive. cwilliams38114.6506712963, again I will ask you what is the real error??
see the link above when I asked you the 1st time. (I need the error details and line number.. etc etc)
and what kind of a server are you trying to run it on ? you mention xp pro but in a confusing way ? , ok, thanks!, You can also try setting asphttp's user agent property to some browser version like in this example. It might stop that info from showing up when it fetches a page from the server.
<% Dim BanObj1Http Set BanObj1Http = Server.CreateObject("AspHTTP.Conn") BanObj1Http.UserAgent = "Mozilla Compatible (MS IE 3.01 WinNT)" BanObj1Http.Url = " http://banserver.powerasp.com/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?Ba nnerZone=1" Response.Write BanObj1Http.GetURL set BanObj1Http = nothing %>
Also... I dont know if these values below will work but I got them from looking at my nt logs.
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
And here is more info on the asphttp component and it's settings. http://www.serverobjects.com/comp/asphttp3.htm cwilliams38248.6481365741, I have been working on this. 2Checkout is like the most confusing and worst payment processing company on the planet. There are things about that page I just don not understand as many times as I read through it.
Doesn't seem like this stuff is mandatory just yet. (I asked)
I should have something soon. , http://gibsoncity.info/guestbook/default.asp

Nevermind on this question. I found the notify_url variable. :-\

, I would check out this article for starters... aspprotect is very similar to asp photo gallery and so are a lot of the page names.

Jeromy, You should have access to that page. ,
I just added this line to the paypal1.asp
page
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code"
value="CAD">
and it worked. Clearly other values can be entered for other currencies.
Everything was listed in this manual https://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/subscriptions.pdf.

, It appears there is an auto logout after inactivity for a period of time. How does one change the default time allowed for inactivity?
thx , No, because ASPProtect.NET is licensed per and only runs in One website (one iis application)
That error however probably has more to do with parent paths being disabled on the server., Thought this would be easy. A few more pointers should get the database connection to work:
1) How do you decide whether it is a DSN (system datasource) or not? Does just putting the file in the ODBC make it so?
2)We have other files in there for other server applications, does that mean we’re stuck using DSN’s or is the file independent of that control dialog?
3) Assuming we get rid of using DSN for this database (or not), does the code go referenced in your article http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/permissions.asp apply here or should it just work?
What else are we missing? , ASPProtect v7 comes with working example code of protecting an image from being downloaded and also protects the true file location of the image on your server..
This comes with the system as an example folder with some files in it.
(some of the initial purchaser's of the system might not have that directory.. if that is the case please ask)
Here is how it works...
Basically we protect the image in 2 ways.
- We use Javascript right click disabling code that works in both IE and Firefox.
- We stream the image via a special password protected ".asp" page and use an image tag to call it. This hides the true location of the file. You can therefore keep your images out of your web or keep them in a folder in your web that does not allow file browsing. Under this scenario even if someone looks at the img tag html source they can not tell where the file came from. Doing all of this allows you to offer certain images only to people that are logged in.
All in all this is should be very effective protection. Yes, there are still ways to get the images like doing screen captures, but this will ensure that people viewing images are logged in to your site. This will in most cases keep them from right clicking and saving the images. This will ensure that people can not tell other people the image's url location and it will ensure other sites can not leach your images and bandwidth.
For the image protection examples to work you may need to edit some values in the stream_pic.asp file that are valid for your setup.
Look at the source. The values you can edit are commented.
Now, you also need to call a valid "image file name" from the call_pic.asp file which is an example of how you protect a page with javascript and call a streamed image using an image tag.
Lasty, here is a great article I found on image protection and some of the things you can do about it and some of things you cannot.
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID =41 , You should not have single quotes around the "-1" because Album_Active is not a string field in the database. It's true/false or bit field in the database depending on the database you are using (MSSQL or ACCESS)
I'd do it a little more like this I think.
SELECT COUNT(Album_ID) AS Alb_Count FROM " & tbl_label_albums & " WHERE User_ID = " & CmdListUsers("User_ID") & " AND Album_Active = 1"
I took out the parentheses as well since I dont believe they are needed in a simple case like this
but is hard to say unless your the one testing it... my version might have a mistake as I am a little rusty with my SQL at the moment
also: in case your wondering... depending on the situation and the odbc drivers the 1 and -1 should work either way but sometimes it's picky and you have to do it one way or the other cwilliams38433.0564930556, I am not sure. I can tell you that I run windows 2003 server and I have never had any issues setting permissions for ASP.NET files and folders. This very server is 2003 and the ASPProtect.NET demo runs on this server as well.
Course, I can't say that I have specifically tried to remove ASP.NET READ permissions on the database folder as it's just not something I would not have a reason to do. Why are you trying to do that? The ASP.NET account needs that permission. If you are trying to stop file browsing and downloading in that folder that is not how you do that. The best way to do that is by keeping the database somewhere else on the server that is not part of the http web. , We have been using ASP Protect for a while now and are big fans of the program. We received ASP Banner 8.2 with our puchase which we now have a need for. I went to put the files on our webpage, and doing nothing else other than locating the directory there, I noticed differences with how ASP Protect operates. We have customized it a bit and want to keep the 2 programs separate. the login screen for one showed up on the other, and some ASP Protect pages appeared altered so i immediately deleted ASP Banner. did I do something wrong, and how can i ensure the 2 programs work completely independant of each other? We can't risk braking what we're now using but would really like to add banner functionality to some of our pages. maybe an update to the program before we install? puchase new software? Thanks for your help- , new version is still not finshed as of the end of the year... I am not going to release it until I feel it is ready., I have purchased ASPProtect to secure a web site that I administor for a soccer league. I am having a hard time getting the code to execute. the instructions are to include this code at the top of the web page under the Language identifier. Like this I think:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!-- Begin ASPProtect Code --> <!-- Groups with access to this page. ( * Admins * ) --> <% GROUPACCESS = "4" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <!-- End ASPProtect Code -->
However, nothing happens. I am not sure if I am missing something.
FYI: the "Check_user_inc.asp" file is in the root directory of the site which is actually two levels down on the d: drive of the server. The web page code is located below.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

, Thanks for the install. After many hours I finally got part of the
system working. I can log in and log out as a user. My problem is I
want the pages
accesses by Members ONly. The database will contain the names of
the members and only they are allowed access, and no one else. I
tried Joe Blow to log in and it worked, the only thing is Joe was not
in the database and he should have been locked out and a page come us
saying something like "you are not a registered user, please complete
the membership application" and then link back to the root web,
application page.
I am also afraid of breaking the codes you provided thus far. I also
want the password protected pages in a sub-web of the root web.
This may sound like elementary stuff, but this newbie is having
constant trouble. I am also referencing books on ASP and Access
and VB and still come up with a dead end. Search the net and come up
with a few codes which are described as something I am looking for, but
dont want to add any thing like that for fear of breaking the whole
thing.
Any suggestions?
, Great suggestion, routing the banner click through an intermediate page before the destination. We use Deepmetrix LiveSTATS.xsp V7 and I should be able to configure a filter to capture the stats of the intermediate page.
Thanks for the help! Lance , ConnectionString = "DBQ=C:\TradersReportsCom\aspprotect\data\database\ASPProtec t_access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp"
I have already set the folder permissions as indicated in the documentation. , If things are not perfect there will be no log files and no errors.. it can only be one of these things really http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo313-2.htm
You may also want to make your the filesystem on the server is working and not disabled by norton script blocking or anything random like that. Testing the filesystem object is best done by writing a simple text file to a folder. Plenty of examples of doing that can be found at www.aspin.com
Recent activity is temporary and admin activity in the admin area is not tracked. If your application in IIS has reset or there has been no activity in the users area or in pages you protected there will be nothing there. The busier your site the more chance something will be there. For example usually our online demo has something there except right after 4am when my server does an iisreset. , you would have to edit the application in visual studio.net.. change some things around and recompile the application... in the process figuring out how you want to handle all of that (probably combining the username and email fields just on the registration form then saving both values to the database)
very doable.. just not anything documented or supported as it is custimization
I do have a very nice article on the forums on how to set up a project in visual studio.net with the application.. it is in the forums,
