I get the following message when trying to look up the sysdiag.aspx and the default.aspx files. Why? I have followed all the install instructions.
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration> |
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

hi,
no.., not unless you come up with some clever way to handle it on your own

read 2nd to last post
The way ASPProtect ships it is designed to either be in http:// the whole time or https:// the whole time.... (there curently is no solution from me allowing going from one to the other)

These Settings:
Picture upload feature settings. |
Use_Picture_Upload |
< = value=True name=Use_Picture_Upload> Check this if you will be using the picture uploading feature. |
UploadDirectory |
< size=60 value=C:\Inetpub\virtuals\aspphotogallery.com\Web\demo\pictu res name=UploadDirectory> Example: "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ASPPhotoGallery\pictures" Ask your server admin if you are not sure. This directory needs proper permissions for the SAFILEUP component or the VBSCRIPT solution to work correctly. It basically needs to same permissions as the database directory would need when using Microsoft Access. |
PictureURL |
< size=60 value=http://www.aspphotogallery.com/demo/pictures name=PictureURL> Example: "http://p600laptop/ASPPhotoGallery/pictures" This is the web URL of the the upload directory specified above. |
Use_SAFILEUP_Upload |
< = value=SAUP name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a component called SAFILEUP which is high end upload component available from www.softartisans.com. It is far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution. It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_ASPUPLOAD_Upload |
< = value=ASPUPLOAD name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a component called ASPUPLOAD which is high end upload component available from www.persits.com. It is also far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution. It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_DUNDAS_Upload |
< = value=DUNDAS name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a (FREE) component called DUNDAS UPLOAD which is a high end upload component available from www.dundas.com. It is also far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution. It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_VBSCRIPT_Upload |
< = value= name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a pure VBSCRIPT solution. It requires VBSCRIPT version 5 or higher to be installed on the server. The solution usually works fine, but has been reported to cause memory leaks on XP machines. |
, do you have "use picture uploading" checked in the settings ?
that is important..
have proper permissions been set on the picture folder ?
are the paths set correctly for the picture folder ?, I have noticed that during the file import, that some of the pictures get messed up. I can import aroun 150 pictures into different albums, say 3 albums with 50 each.
I have noticed however that some of the get messed up. What is happening is...the thumbnail will be correct, but after you click it the picture that shows up is one form a different album.
Any cure for this?
, Well at least now the import/export link shows up now! lol, Then, you would have to add those users to the aspprotect user database. You would do so using the built in import/export features of msaccess and being very carteful about it. It is not a process we support and the technique used would be unique to any situation. Its basic database work though but still you have to be able to do it.
ASPProtect uses its own user database and you have to use that database. ASPPortect can not authenticate users using some other existing database.
Does that make sense ?, in that file "upload_post.asp"
change
<%
If Session("Admin") <> "True"
Response.End
End If
%>
to
<%
If Session("Admin") <> "True" Then
Response.End
End If
%>
, now, even though it should work with two slashes or not... here is an updated file that will clear that issue up.
You can try it but I think you have other issues like I said above.
just replace this file in the "scripts" folder
2005-12-16_141245_populate_config_variables_inc.zip , It is common when testing a site that this happens because of the nature of session variables.
Admins have access to EVERYTHING so it is very important when testing different user accounts that you specifically log out... and then close every single browser window before logging in as a different user. This is to ensure session info from the previous user does not overlap in any areas.
(The session variable for admin access being the main one)
Under normal circumstances a user would not log in with many different accounts on the same computer this this would only be a problem for a developer who is testing.
So make sure you go to the to log-off page and log off.. then close all browser windows.. then test another user.
If all this is not the case then something else is going on and I will need more information. I pretty much know the level checking code for ASPProtect Version 6 is correct as there has been no reason to change any of it in over a year. I would have heard reports of problems with it. , pretty clever...
If anyone is interested in what the Mod function actually does this article explains it nicely. They even use it for the same purpose in the examples.

cwilliams38210.6791898148, That is by design, removing and deleting are two different things as far as the classifieds system goes.
A regular user can only remove an ad from the category index. (which makes the ad inactive)
An admin however can truly delete an ad from the system.
, btw: who is this hosting company anyway ?
and did they give you access to a control panel that lets you manage your site ? sometimes that is where you manage those permissions if their interface supports it
lastly, are frontpage extensions installed in your web so it can be connected to via frontpage ?
, Chris,
Another question on V7. I set up all the paths as required for the extras like user pics and exports on my site. They were working fine. I created an export, then as you recommend, deleted the file on the site to ensure it doesn't get in the wrong hands. I did this a few times to test it after a number of people logged in.
About 2 days later, I went to do it again and the system came back with an error saying the directory didn't exist. I know it did because I created it and it worked fine. I then created the directory again thinking I was losing it.
Then today, I went to do another export and the directory is gone again! Can you help me understand why this might be happening? I am the only one with FTP access to the site so there is no way that it could be someone else doing it. The error I get is:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'
Path not found
/password_admin/export.asp, line 78
Thanks,
Dave
, Verison 8 is superior in every way and the code is much more optimized so yes I think it would handle it better. It is still a lot of banners on one page though which means a lot of hits to the database if you call them all individually with zone calling code. SQL server would make sense more than MSACCESS.
Now, the only reason I said make one zone for all those banners on the home page is because a banner has to be associated with a zone. It would make sense to put them all in one because if you just tracked the clicks like I mentioned you really wouldnt be using the zone except for maybe when you go to view stats. , I was actually able to do similar thing by allowing our dedicated search engine to access the site unchallanged.
<%
If Trim(Left(Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_USER_AGENT"),11)) = "MYPASSWORD" Then
SearchFlag = True
End If
If SearchFlag <> True Then
If Session("Access_Level") > CHECKFOR or Session("Access_Level") = "" Then
%>
<!--#include virtual="/Auth/check_user_Code.asp" -->
<head>
<title>My Title</title>
</head>
<body>
My Protected stuff here
</body>
</html>
For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.
Thanks,
Mo
,
ok, here's a test page:

Our company just got new computers, so everyone here has the same set-up, all Dells, all about 3 weeks old, all Windows XP.
But I did realize after reading your post that I am using Firefox and everyone else was using IE. When I used IE, I was able to duplicate the error.
But, alas, I am unable to resolve it. Client will be using IE, no doubt.
, ASPProtect protects ".asp" pages only.
That is your problem.
, Hello Chris:
Yes I'm using the Option Pack.

, I down loaded your latest ASPProtect.NET_v1.4 and now when i try to get in the admin area it won't let me in. The admin box is selected in the database under the admin user and i can update my user information (password and Address, not username). Is there something that was changed on this version or is it more likely user error on my part? What do you think i should try first?, remeber too.. you might have to edit code you used on your existing pages in your site so they still call the "check_user_inc.asp" correctly.. though it may very well work out so it works the way it is at the new site
any redirection code you might have done may need the redirection urls changed if you used full domain urls..
things like that... etc etc etc,
Hello,
I want to create a user for my manager. This user should be able to see
all statistics (Reports) and all (Banners). But, he should not be able
to edit anything.
How can I create the type of user described above?
Best regards,
Mohammad Al-Mohsin
, lmao ... ya that has never happend to me before....
, I dont know about your error on line 6 when uploading..
as far as the manaully edited import file not working I would really need to see it. There has to be somethin wrong with it's format.
I really need more information and possibly acess to the system to do some troubleshooting...
This is anot a feature anyone has ever had an issue like this with.
, Your assumption was incorrect.... the login count has nothing to do with that. The login count only has one purpose and that is to limit the amount of times a user can log in if you want to do that.
Logging in for the 1st time means the time at which they 1st login and their session at the site is created... If there session ends and they come back and login they will get redirected because it will be the 1st time again.
Forms Based Authentication is all about sessions and session variables.
If you only want them redirected somewhere based on the login count that is something you have to work out and check on your own. It's very doable.
Seems like now I should have explained that better but I never thought anyone would think it meant what you thought., You cannot use server mappath in the connecting string of the application. If you want to know why read my article.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/physical-path.asp
Make your connecting string just like in my example.. do not use the oledb connection string either as it will cause other problems.
If you need to find out the path to the mdb file you can use server.mappath to get that info but do not put server mappath in the connecting string. See my article again.
then if the database folder has proper permissions and the path to the mdb file is valid it will work... otherwise you get useless errors, its really that simple.
You also may want to download ASPTest from www.cjwsoft.com it is designed to show a person how to setup a working data connection., You would set the groups during users signup the same way you would do the expiration in the following example.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo170-1.htm
The groups field need to be set the exact same way it would look like in the database of course
So, if a user was part of groups 1, and 2
You would look in the database and see this in the groups fields for that user
*1*,*2*
so in the signup code you set that like so
CmdAddUser.Fields("Groups") = "*1*,*2*"
This info only applies to resgitrations and signups using the "users" folder.
if you wanted to make different sceanrios you would need to carefully make a copy of the users folder and adjust it accordingly
, if you just see code then you do not have ASP and Web Server setup correctly.. Basic IIS Server Setup stuff and not something I cover, but there is plenty of info out there.
http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2084
http://www.codefixer.com/tutorials/installation.asp
http://www.webwizguide.com/asp/tutorials/installing_iis_winX P_pro.asp
http://www.w3schools.com/asp/asp_intro.asp
, I assume you mean 500 pixels wide
no.. because you cant reliably tell a pictures image width without an image resizing component to look it up.. asp can not do things like that on its own
serverobjects has a free component called "imagesize" that can do it as well but you need access to the server to install the component
http://www.serverobjects.com/products.htm
so if you cant do that with regular asp code you definetly can not stop the upload proces because the picture is too wide..
heck, that would be nearly imposible to do regardless.. even with the best 3rd party components at your disposal
even with an image resizing component you would have to allow the upload.. then check the pixel width.. then delete it.. tell the user what is going on...etc etc .. all a very complicated process
, You are right, there are NO entries in the "PayPal_Subscriber_ID" field at all. Any way of fixing this?
, not anything built into the app... it would be done with client side javascript if you wanted to look into it... my client side javascript skills are ziltch, no worries from me. As with most software projects, i tweak the
heck out of them and then have to make a big decision about whether or
not i even want/need to upgrade.

, Hi,
Its just not enough information to go on. I need more details on what is going on. There are a lot of configuration settings in these applications. I really do not know what to make of that screen shot.
My 1st guess is that if you cannot delete a picture that the picture folder does not have delete permissions ??
I also need to mention that I am not sure what this has to do with ASPImage ?
, One is for paypal subscriptions (recurring billing) and the other is for single payments
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=185& ; ; ;PN=1
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=186& ; ; ;PN=1
You can delete any of the 3rd party payment directories you are not using including the the 2checkout one... (all those folders really are is a copy of the users folder specially modified to handle a certain payment processor)
Just Don't delete the "users" folder though as there are things you do there that you can not do anywhere else.. quite a few things.. editing existing account info, looking up passwords... etc etc
cwilliams38446.6055555556, no, you cannot unless you plan to write a lot of custom code.
That is why the option pack has groups which eliminate the need to use access levels because groups can do everything access levels can and more.
There is an article here regarding that.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=32& PN=1
cwilliams38303.5555439815, Does ASPProtect 7 work with SQL 2005?, LOL
, I've got an ecommerce module that's running on it that uses access for the db. Connecting into that thing is slow as well, but I figured that's because of the complications and volume it handles.
So as far as importing on a faster machine and copying it over to the server...what suggestions do you have?
, I have just purchased ASP v7 and loaded. Followed instructions. Obtained codes not prob. Get to single field login screen, enter password and following page appears:
Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /temp/aspprotect/password_admin/get_me_in.asp.
Added folder aspprotect under (temp web) folder - temp, but also tried under root folder of web site.
Still no luck.

Below is text from an email I sent to the MLS department regarding this matter.
Hello,
I have spoken to Heidi twice today as well as Bob Nelson regarding some things they asked for that confused me.
Bob is going to call them about the "status types" they wanted that confused me.
I also called their data guy "Bill Campbell" and told him the names of fields that Heidi wanted.
I made it clear to him that I would something from him sent to us ASAP since as far as I am concerned this is in their hands (not ours) until I get something from him I can not do anything about any of this.
Then I called Heidi back and told her this.. Hopefully she will made it clear to this Bill guy that we would like something sent to us ASAP
This is about all I can do about this today or until data is sent to us.
