A few people are using it and say it works very well.

Like the IPN Single Purchase System it is a separate directory you copy into the web site. One change must be made to your database so it’s pretty easy to get working.

Though I am not guaranteeing this you should be able to accept Single IPN payments and IPN Subscriptions at the same time without the two bothering each other. I haven’t tested it but one customer is doing it and said it is working fine. It just involves manually specifying the IPN URL for one of the systems so it overrides the default IPN URL on your paypal settings. (As each system needs its own IPN URL) Its easy to do… just a form field you would add to the subscription form. I already looked it up. See below.

Specifying Your Notification URL

If you only need to receive your IPNs at a single URL, you can enter that URL in the Preferences section of your Profile. If you would like to receive payment notifications for different payments at different URLs (i.e. if you need to separate payments made to different websites you run), you can manually pass the IPN URL with each payment by including it in that payment’s HTML code. Use the notify_url field to pass this information. The notify_url for a specific payment will be saved, and any subsequent updates to that payment (e.g. cleared eCheck) will be sent to that notify_url. When you pass a notify_url in your HTML code, it will override any preferences you set in your Profile.

The main root of your web site needs a "aspnet_client" folder for .NET apps like ASPProtect.NET to run.

If this isnt quite right one of two things can happen.

1.) You'll get a pop-up error like this.
'Unable to find script library WebUIValidation.js'

2.) The ASPProtect login screen will come up but just not let you log in.

This folder only goes in the root. Not in subfolders and subwebs.

If you dont have this folder in the root of your web.

If the app is installed on a hosted server you'll need to ask them to do that for you.

You can also try copying a the folder from your own machine after creating it the way the article above says.

I am not sure if copying it in is as good as having created by the server as I haven't had time to really test all of that but it should work. Ultimately all this does is put some files .net needs in the web.

If you PM me the encryption key you are using and the plain text password for this user I can see if I can reproduce the error and come up with a fix.

I believe you found one of the rare examples where the encryption creates a strange character that messes up things. Sometimes those characters are not even visable.

Changing the password should solve the problem in the meantime., OK, so I misread the instructions. Wouldn't have been the first time that happened... but I just had an account get created, guy then paid, and... no activation. I had to go in the next day and do that by hand. What should I do to look for troubleshooting on the issue? I've got all the default directories set up and all the files where they should be. What next? ,

I have been looking over the code and also doing some tests.

So far everything in the code looks correct and everything I have tried has worked correctly. If I select an access level and active users it is not sending emails to inactive users as you stated.

Are you using the option pack ?

While there is no option in the admin area / asp code we give you here is what I can tell you.

You have the source code and we also use an open database structure. (MSAccess or MSSQL) So that means you can really run any query you want on the database whether with ASP code or directly in your database. You can even tie other systems and code into the database via OBDC and manipulate data. The sky is the limit.

In MSSQL you can run queries in SQL enterprise manager or query analyzer. Using Access you can run queries in query view.

It's really not that hard if you do some research on SQL Statements and how to use them. You can do some very powerful queries and save yourself a lot of time. , Has this been resolved ?,

However, it can probably be used fairly easily with UK customers.

You'll probably want to look into setting the currency to UK in the code generated for the PayPal buttons which is in "view_item.asp". There is probably a hidden form variable you add to it to specify the currency. PayPal's shopping cart documentation and help system would have more info on that.

Doing a search real quick there I came up with this.

Then you may also want to change the LCID settings for the web site to UK. (I think)

To do that edit the "config_inc.asp" file with a text editor.

Add this code between the <% and %> tags.
Near the top is good

There may also be hard coded dollar signs in the code that you will need to change to whatever.. If after you do the above to steps you see then you'll know where to change them based on the named of the page you on.

It is quite possible that simply changing the LCID will take care of everything, but I am not sure.

Simply go to the zones screen.

I dont remember much about installing it except it went pretty smoothly / no issues, If you PM your site info and I can go in and troubleshoot. I have no more ideas. Usually people have zero issues installating this application as I got it pretty tweaked so I need to see what is going on in order to help.,

Yeah that's my impression too. I've done a lot of searching before posting this problem, but haven't solved it. Maybe it has to do with the sql-server/hotel?

Though I have compared carefully what goes on (and it should all be good) it could still be the problem? I have now made it work on a local msde sql server too..

When I add a user, I can not activat it.

It sends me back to log on and will now allow me to log in as admin???

I can restart the APP and log in as Admin, but the user I added

My system will also not allow me to set the Stay Loged in FLag.

I have purchased ASPProtect to secure a web site that I administor for a soccer league. I am having a hard time getting the code to execute. the instructions are to include this code at the top of the web page under the Language identifier. Like this I think:

ok, I am a bit confused... you make it sound like as if you are running a different version than you were when you ordered this a couple/few weeks back... that confuses me because you were able to log in to the admin area of aspprotect.net before? weren't you ?

there have been no changes to the download or the version in quite some time ?

I guess I need more information to make any sort of guess at this point. I do not know enough.,

Anyone have any experience configuring PhotoGallery to use a backend mySQL database?

The application connects successfully for Read operations, but no amount of troubleshooting can get it to Write records to the tables.

, I have multiple zone banners displayed on a single page using the AspHTTP Component Method.

However, in IE 6.x and NS 7.x each banner has some text displayed before it similar to:

If you bought ASPBanner Unlimited Version 7.3 Before August/10/2004 this file needs to be updated.

It fixes a bug where the JavaScript method is not properlly closing an html Image tag. It can cause other hyperlinks on your web page to link to the same place the banner links to. This does not always happen but this fix is the way the code should be so it is best to update it.

Copy this file into your ASPBanner folder over the existing file of the same name.

The application automatically generates all the code for you for each method of calling banners. It does this on the zones screen.

If you are using flash it also possible that the actualy flash file is what is causing things to slow up.

It really all depends... it could also be server resource related

using sql server or access.. ? etc etc

cwilliams38362.6615972222, I down loaded your latest ASPProtect.NET_v1.4 and now when i try to get in the admin area it won't let me in. The admin box is selected in the database under the admin user and i can update my user information (password and Address, not username). Is there something that was changed on this version or is it more likely user error on my part? What do you think i should try first?,

These are my personal notes on the new version of ASP Photo Gallery that should be out sometime in May/June 2004. Please ingore any typos.

This version may be more expensive than the current pro version as this is a major re-write and there will be a ton of new features.

Regardless, special pricing will be offerered to existing users.

Finished Improvements:

new setup page makes setting up the data connection easier than ever
it attempts to determine the possible data paths and makes suggestions for what to try
when you finally get the data connection working it gives you a link to the admin area of the application
so you can get started using the application

all database table names can be specified in the config_inc.asp file for advanced users that they may need
to change the table names in the database.. helpful for sql installation where one sql database must be
shared by many applications

new data folder is the only folder that needs permissions set
before multiple folders needed permissions
now everything can be put in this folder... database,logfiles,configuration files,picture upload folders...
eventually all cjwsoft applications will do this allowing multiple cjwsoft applications to use that same folder
therefore making it easier than ever to setup more applications without asking your host to set more permissions

new text based config file makes it easier to add new options to the program without making changes to
the database structure... therefore the need for the configuration table in the database has been eliminated
this also reduces system resources needed to load the config data for each page because it eliminates calls to the
database for config data

added voice effects for data connection page, intro users page, and settings page

made it so ratings color was an option (red or blue)

fixed minor bug that wasn't showing fixed category heights when that was selected and am image wasn't originally sized that way during initial upload

changed logfiles dates so they always show up in the proper order 09 vs 9

added config option to change bit query value to 1 or -1
default it to 1.... this is a technical thing

added the extra options currently in the config file to the settings page so people do not have to manually edit that
file any longer...

added new persits email option and authentication options to the settings page

added new CDOSYS emailing option

added support for dundas emailer

added support for ASPSMARTMAIL

fixed word filter so if it is empty it doesn't mess up
also make editing it part of the main settings

made email functions include file and edited all page that email to use it

added css/style sheet support and removed a lot of the old font tags

seperated the settings page into sections because it was too big and confusing

added ability for text watermarking when using the ASPImage component

made the picture upload error message no longer mention browsers that do not support picture uploading
as that is confusing people... and the problem is never that anymore

Made the ASPImage test page delete the bar graph before creating it so if it is already there they will
not think it is working

added crystal ball feature to admin users screen... shows additional user info when you hold the mouse over it

Made search function highlight search word in results.
Made the search function search the image description text files as well

Eliminated the guestbook directory as there was no need for the guestbook to be in it's own directory. This also simplified the menu.asp file as the guestbook section could be removed.

Eliminate the need for parent paths to be enabled on the web server.

Many hosting companies disabled parent paths and will not enable them for their users.
On Windows 2003 Server Parent Paths are disabled by default.

make it so users ability to upload pics can be optionally disabled

possibly make some of the special functions in the extras folder built in to the admin area

Make the category picture uploader smarter because of the jpg gif issue when reuploading cat icons
A jpg loaded over a gif.. doesn't delete the old gif graphic and vice versa

Reduce number of ".asp" pages in general.

Use more functions for redundant tasks.

Optimize all instances of the old filefound function which is using more resources than are necessary

option.explicit the entire application and get all the variables dimmed once and for all

possibly incorporate the new category system I am working on which allows for unlimited categories and levels
also simplifies the heck out of the pages that call the categories

possibly add some cool image manipulation functions such as rotation for the various image components supported

possibly add the ability to move pictures around in an album. and maybe between albums
I must also remember to move the ratings and desc as well for that image.

possibly add the ability to make individual pictures require approval

possibly add the streaming image ability (asp page called from image tag) I came up with as an option for
people that can use it. this will better secure images in password protected albums and also possibly make
it so images can only be viewed from certain urls.. and maybe make an interface for a list of allowed urls

improve the .net support to also resize the larger images.. currently it does not

possibly add a feature to store 3 versions of images uploaded
thumbnail, medium res, and high res/original
this will appeal to professionals or people that may want to sell prints
storing a large version will be optional

add option to store the images orginal name in the images description area during upload
may be helpful to people that name their images in a somewhat descriptive way

change approval settings so they work on a per user basis
eliminate access levels from edit user screen and get rid of the level 4 stuff mentioned
possibly add a per user option for individual pic approval as well if I get that feature implemented

add support for the ibulc bulk upload client that I recently discovered

and did they give you access to a control panel that lets you manage your site ? sometimes that is where you manage those permissions if their interface supports it

Yes.. for ASP server side code to run the page extension must be ".asp". I was gonna mention that but I guess I just didnt think anyone would do that.

It is very possible (just basic ASP and database accessing techniques)
It is just not the sort of thing I support in the forums as it is a customization related.

Even for me something like that would take 1-3 hours of coding time. Basically, it is just not something I could just explain to you real quick.

Well I have the web hosting tech looking into the memory issues at this point. Unfortunately I don't have another machine to be able to run the asp on that would run it correctly so that I can just publish it over.

I am beginning to wonder if you unzipped the download correctly because I see things in folders they should not be in...

you should have ended up with a bunch of folders and files...

It you just ended up with a ton of files in one directory you did not unzip the zip file correctly... if so check your zip program settings.. I mean that error is because it is looking for a file in the skins folder that isn't there and it should be there

better yet, unzip the downloaded zip file using windows xp built in unzipping features which will do it correctly...

Hello- I am trying to install the ASPPROTECT product and tried to read all the docs but still am getting the following error:

I understand about the physical path for the DSN-less connection and followed the example given. I got in touch with tech support for the host of my site and the give me the following as a physical path:

c:\sites\Single20\laptv1\database

Some observations:

1.- The database directory is outside the root dir but I think I am accounting for it with the path

2.- The permissions are ok

Any ideas?

If you re-start the web via IIS, reboot the server, or (possibly) just add and remove a category... that will clear up.

ASPClassifieds and ASPListings must be installed in seperate IIS applications if they are the same web. Otherwise the category caching system of each system will interfere with each other. They were never intended to be installed in the same web together since ASPListings is merely a stripped down version of ASPClassifieds and they share a lot of the same code. Like I said though if different IIS applications are set up in the web site you can do it because each IIS application will have it's own set of application and session variables.

No, only ".asp" files can be protected. It is the nature of Forms Based Authentication when using web based scripting technologies whether those scripts be ".cgi", ".asp", ".php", or whatever.

To protect entire direcotries at once you really need to run your own webserver and use NTFS permissions and user accounts..... or if something special is installed on the server there may be ways to do it as well. That usually isn't going to happen under a shared hosting account but there are special authentication products for such a thing that some hosting companies do purchase and allow their hosting customers to use.

Using aspprotect we do give working examples of ways to stream and partially protect images and downloads while a user is logged in to an ".asp" page.

Also, any ".htm" pages can simply be renamed to ".asp" if you need to protect them. Links to each other need to be updated of course because of the extension change.

In my opinion the truth of the matter is most high end sites use Forms Based Authentication with scripts. Not directory protection as it is fairly primitive/old school as well as sometimes being confusing for the users of the site because of how the login window from the server often gets stuck behind the browser.. etc etc

If you have a lot of pages in a site that you need to add protection code to then if can often be helpful to use a good Multiple file search and replace program to carefully add the protection code to the top of the source code of the pages. There are even multiple file search and replace programs that can rename extensions which can be helpful for large sites.

For images and graphics you want protect you have to do some work and set up and intelligent system for yourself.

Lastly whether you use https:// or not is no concern to ASPProtect as it works the same under https:// as it does under http://

Looks pretty sweet but the pricing is just too much for me to justify as I am very happy with smarterstats and I host a lot of sites now.

I used to use Livestats 5 back in the day when we had a 50 domain license where I worked and hosted my sites. I liked it a lot then I tried the version 6.2 that they had for a while and hated it.
