OK, I just spent like an hour in your site.. I almost gave up
1st off... I don't know what FTP Program/Settings or what OS you are using but all the ASP Protect Files had been reformatted in a odd way which was causing some issues and the database also had problems. Your somehow introducing all sorts of UNIX line breaks to all the files and the database was actually missing some crucial parts of itself and was corrupted. So I had to update everything which means a new database. I have never seen anything like it but I fixed it all. Its something you are doing but I do not know what. Maybe your unzipping method again ?
So to get back into the admin area...
admin test
Now, the reason the albums were not showing is because you are using the ole connection string which causes problems like that. However because you host has like the worst setup ever with that network path crap for the site that was the only connection string that would work for some reason.
I highly suggest a new host with a proper setup for running ASP. www.alentus.com Your hosting companies setup is horrid as far as I am concerned. Access Databases are not meant to be connected to via a network path. http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2168
Anyway, I rewrote some of the code because of the ole connection and got the albums showing up for you.. who knows what other problems that OLE connection may bring up in the future.. for now things I tested seem ok.
As for your broken image in the your header/footer... You cant link to images and links using virtual pathing in those includes because the files are called from different directories and will work in some and not others
so when your in the root you see the image, when in a different folder you see a broken image
In other words.
link to
http://www.vickerylightning.com/gallery/vickery_template5_r2 _c1.jpg
not just
vickery_template5_r2_c1.jpg
The same goes for hyperlinks.. use the full url paths
Whatever you do...Back up the gallery folder with my changes before you go doing anything. , Not sure because of the nature of the javascript method
for starters tighten up the html around the banner call
change
<tr> <td width="460" height="60" align="center" valign="middle" class="imagead"> <!------- ASPBanner Ad code -------------> <script language="JavaScript"> var code = ''; var now = new Date(); var nIndex = now.getTime(); document.write('<s' + 'cript src=" http://www.nababaseball.com/aspbannernet/aspbanner/injectban ner.aspx?BannerZone=1&nocache=' + nIndex + '">'); document.write('</' + 's' + 'cript>'); </script> <script language="JavaScript">document.write(jscode);</script >
</td>
to
<tr> <td width="460" height="60" align="center" valign="middle" class="imagead"> <script language="JavaScript"> var code = ''; var now = new Date(); var nIndex = now.getTime(); document.write('<s' + 'cript src=" http://www.nababaseball.com/aspbannernet/aspbanner/injectban ner.aspx?BannerZone=1&nocache=' + nIndex + '">'); document.write('</' + 's' + 'cript>'); </script> <script language="JavaScript">document.write(jscode);</script > </td>
If that doesn't help I would suggest using the ASP 3.0 version of ASPBanner. It can serve banners to a any type of page extension and it runs just as well as the .NET version. There is a new iframe method for calling banners that you can try instead of the javascript. The iframe method is explained in the ASPBanner Unlimited section of the forum. cwilliams38150.6443634259,
This first one may be an obvious one, but is it only .asp files that I can protect as in no HTML files.
Can the program be set to protect my whole https directory contents (though the answer to the last question may have bearing here - there are html files as well as .asp in there) as in http://secure.mydomain.com
Thanks in advance , ok, that is what you are suppose to do... not having that path info set can cause all sorts of trouble.,

Don't want to install the application ? Having trouble doing it ? Don't think you can ? |
No problem, have us install it for you.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS
Installation service is generally available Mon - Fri during the hours of 10 am - 7 pm EST. We may very well be around to do installs at other times but we do not guarantee that.
To do an install we generally need FrontPage Explorer or FTP access to your site. We also need a way to set permissions on any necessary directories, etc etc.
To do a SQL Server install we need to access your SQL server via Enterprise Manager.
Some installs may require access to other things not mentioned.
The server must be a properly set up NT/2000/2003 server running IIS 4-6 for ASP 3.0 applications. (with support for ASP scripts and database connectivity.) Parent Paths must be enabled on the server.
Please Note: These ASP scripts do not run under Chillisoft ASP. That means they do not run under Unix, Linux, Apache, etc etc. We do not install our applications on free ASP Hosting solutions. Why, because they are more trouble than they are worth. Free hosts like that are usually zero help if we need something changed. There is a reason they are free.
We install the software in it's base configuration. We make sure it is running correctly. If you break the installation you will have to pay to have it fixed. We do not integrate it with your existing site or edit any of your existing web content. That is up to you. Installation fees are non refundable as is the digital source code we sell. When you purchase anything from us you agree to this.
We do not do installs for IPNFulfill and Color Sequence Protection as they are simple scripts and do not even use a database.. We also do not install the IPN Support Pack as it is just a folder you copy into your web and some configuration files that you must decide how to configure based on your needs and your PayPal account info.

 | Contact us if you have any questions.cwilliams38165.5615277778, Really, only you or your hosting company would know that information...
It is usally installed in the "_database" folder but the physical path including the drive letter to that can only be known by asking your hosting company or by using server mappath to learn the path on you own. http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/physical-path.asp
That folder also needs special permissions. The permissions it needs are covered in the documentation for the software and generally only your hosting compnay can set those permissions.
The online support forums here are full of information and resources on correctly setting up data connections. It is ASP 101 and something you really need to have an understanding of.
I am happy to answer questions and try to help, but if you dont want to deal with it or can't we do offer installation services.

, SQL server hotel ehh ? Humm that sounds bad whatever that is ?
Is that a real term or just something you named it cause they have like a zillion people using that SQL server? I have never heard of that name ?, If you makes you feel any better the photo gallery app runs awesome off an access database. Mostly because all of the picture work is done in the filesystem, not the database. The load on the database is relatively low even with a lot of users., I think its great to share a mod.
I will have few with the new album. , After understanding how the count works i checked the IP in the db. They are all set to the same IP (my web server) no matter what ip is doing the viewing. This is probably due to my ISA2004 firewall that is posting the ip address of the web server with each log on. So, can you help me with where the code would be to modify so the db does not get updated? I risk the refresh problem, don't think it is an issue with me.
Thanks, , Password Retrieval System
I'm trying to setup the email functionality and have the following settings:
Email_Component : CDOSYS (Using Remote Server)
Mail Remote Server: the smtp server in my Outlook account
Use SMTP Authentication: Checked
SMTPUsername: the email address in my Outlook account
SMTPPassword: the password in my Outlook account
Email Notification: sales@tradersreports.com
But I get this when I send the request for via missing password info.
CDO.Message.1 error '80040213'
The transport failed to connect to the server.
/aspprotect/scripts/emailing_subs_inc.asp, line 174
This is running on Windows 2000 server.
Any ideas?
Warren , Personally, I think that is something you should work into your existing site code or something you should handle on your own.
It's basic site maintenance issues.. and something every webmaster must deal with on an individual basis. If you are going to upload a new version of some large file of course you should go disable wherever people are dloading it from and then wait/re upload/turn things back on.. etc etc
It is not going to be a feature of ASPProtect and I don't see why it should be. If you want to have some sort of global site is temporaily down thing you should have a common server side include on all your pages right after the password protection include file. In that include file you could easily stop site access with a response.end and also show a message.
Or you should disable a file download page manually on a file to file basis.
Really, big busy sites that have their sh*t together use versions of files for a reason. Every new upload is a slightly new version revision and has a slightly different file name They do this partially to eliminate the problem your talking about and also because that is the way it should be done. Nothing gets uploaded over itself ever. Even if there is a mistake in a file they upload a new revision and document it in the revision/changes file. And of course they dont show users a link to a new file revisions until it is uploaded. , I am really starting to get the hang of your
software. It seems to me, you have thought of everything a person could
possible want. Before I try to tackle
setting up Pay Pal subscription payments is there really any difference
between a file include and a virtual include statement? Is one more
secure than another?
, Thanks and glad that fixed it.
You can review this software at http://www.aspin.com/func/review?id=4952510
That being said, ASPIN has a lot of problems with anonymous reviews so if you can please sign up with them and post an Authentic review as they carry a lot more weight. Authentic reviews involve responding to their validation email so when doing so use a real email address that you regularly check.
And sorry I made you use the forums, but as you can see this is exactly the sort of thread that will help someone else later on.. and that is why I require people to use the forums now instead of just email support. That way the conversations are out in the open where they can help everyone instead of buried in my outlook where no one will ever see them. And of course if information is sensitive you can always do a Private Message as you did earlier.
It is all about creating a knowlegebase of valuable information. , sure and thats probably what you should do... that pure asp upload thing must not be able to handle the size of your import file... another thing which can very .. also some versions of IIS require registry changes to upload bigger files via asp code alone , as far as permissions are concerned I wrote two large articles about permissions that cover everything in detail on how to properly set them
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/info11.htm
see the windows 2003 and windows xp permission threads
From things you are saying I assume this is your server. My comments about the path looking funny are because very few commercial hosts would use the "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\" directory. If you are using that and that is correct info then that is fine.
as for knowing whether or not the filesystem object is working the best thing to do is to try to write a text file somewhere in your web and see if it works. Testing something under the most basic scenario is the key to troubleshooting asp issues.
http://www.devasp.com/samples/writetofile.asp , I am not talking about image resizing. I need to know if it is possible to limit the upload to images where their height or width is less than 500 PIX. , ok... lets forget about all this redirecting business for a minute
when I go to "GP01.asp" directly via your web site I get a big nasty error that says this
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/protect/config_inc.asp, line 15 Dim Address_Required,CDONTS_Installed,City_Required,Registration _Type,VerifyURL,Log_Off_Page
----^
then when I look at what you did in that file I see why
you have this code which is totally wrong because you cannot include the password protection file twice <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
it should be <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> and that is probably the root of this entire problem.. the redirection was working... but you were sending them to invalid pages with errors
all those pages are wrong... if you dont see the real error above see this http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo11-1.htm
if you look over the aspprotect 7 installation instructions that is the very 1st thing I tell people to do
hopefully this is the info you need to continue and get some work done , "I can login for the first time."
when you say that what exactly does that mean, because in this version you do not just log in for the 1st time.
What I am saying is there are steps where you run a special page to intially get into the system, then you setup a new user, then you make them an admin, and then you can log in as them.
You left all of that out of your story...
I really need all details in order to help.. is this an upgrade or a new install, etc etc etc
I would also advise very carefully comparing the fields in your sql database to the sql creation scripts to make sure all the field settings are correct.
Lastly, please tell me what name/email you ordered the product under so I can check your purchase.
Thanks, Chris: You are right about a little extra coding to make it work. I am still learning .ASP coding, so I did a little web searching and used IF THEN statments to confirm a member logged in with a valid Access Code. If valid, the protected page executes, with the Member's Name and Access Level on a single line at the top of that page. Looks sharp! If not logged in, or a non member (who found the page via Google), I used a Redirect to send s/he to a login page with optional links as you suggested (http://www.vspa.com/aspprotect/vspa-password-failed.asp) . I couldn't get it to work when using Group Access, but I am sure that is just because I am a novice at .ASP (I will post that example when I figure it out). Meanwhile, here's the code I used that works:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="dataconn_inc.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="config_inc.asp"--> <% =Session("First_Name") %> <% =Session("Last_Name") %>: <% If Session("Access_Level") = "6" Then Response.Write "VSPA Active Member Access Level 6" End If If Session("Access_Level") = "7" Then Response.Write "VSPA Life Member Access Level 7" End If If Session("Access_Level") = "8" Then Response.Write "VSPA Officer/Staff Access Level 8" End If If Session("Access_Level") < "6" Then Response.Write "Access Level 1-6 NOT AUTHORIZED RESTRICTED AREA ACCESS" Response.Redirect("vspa-password-failed.asp") End If %><!-- http://www.vspa.com/aspprotect/vspa-password-enter.asp --> <!-- *** End ASPProtect Code *** --> <html> <head>
, Perfect exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks , I did not set that variable in the IPN code that aspprotect uses. It is optional.
You will want to download PayPal's IPN documentation and see what the variable is called and then add it to the IPN form code if you want to use it.
it will be a hidden form variable (one line of code added to) paypal2.asp, I'm having an issue importing. It moves the images from the /import folder and creates the thumbnails with no problem, but the full-size photos all have a size of 0 bytes.
http://www.larrysampas.com/gallery2/default.asp?CatLevel=2&a mp;Cat1_ID=1 , Ok i was wanting to know what the "if then" statement would be if i wanted to show xxx if your group is xxx.
I tried
<% If Session("Groups") = "1" then%> <font size="2">TEXT HERE</font> <%end if%>
But that did not seem to work. , no, but in the standard version it probably will not run so great with more than 75 or so.
The unlimited version can handle pretty much whatever., Can we get access to the source project files for ASPProtect.net since we'd like to put in some of our own branding on the pages and not everything can be done in HTML.
Thanks , Ahhh....yes, I always forget about the cache. That's exactly what it was.
I had made modifications to the import_pics.asp file, because I added more fields to the db, and made the import folder path dynamic, but I seem to have forgotten to add in the response.expires=0
Once I added this back in it has stopped messing up.
What was happening was, it wasn't overwriting the files, nor were they too big, but you would click on one thumbnail in an album(category) and it would display a picture from a totally different category. It seems browser cache was the culprit, however.
Thanks for the quick reply, great product tooo!!! , and did you response.write that session value to see if it holds anything to ensure it is being set , Just installed sofware everything works fine except I see no way to upload any photos. There is no reference or link to allow an upload on any of the asp pages (I have surfed them all). I am sure it is something simple, but I am not aware. I am using SQL2000., Hi,
Actually that is not a feature at this time. Only the admin can add an image for user. If you look at the code for that you could adapt it for individual user use fairly easily provided you are decent with ASP.
That feature will probably be added some day, but there was no time to add it to into the current version and I can not give you a time on when it will be added. The complicated part is making some sort of approval process in case a user adds something undesirable and also limited file sizes which is hard to do without somesort of 3rd party uplaod component being involved. , say ?
How do you like LiveSTATS.xsp V7 ?
Looks pretty sweet but the pricing is just too much for me to justify as I am very happy with smarterstats and I host a lot of sites now.
I used to use Livestats 5 back in the day when we had a 50 domain license where I worked and hosted my sites. I liked it a lot then I tried the version 6.2 that they had for a while and hated it. Version 5 still runs well on 2003 server but it has such outdated search engine information that it isnt worth using. cwilliams38324.8862847222, thats because you can not have exchange server running at the same time as the windows IIS virtual smtp server..
they clash with one another... and thats why the emails never get picked up by the iis stmp server
you have to send the emails another way like using a true remote mail server.. I am not sure but if your exchange server can do pop 3 you can probably use that that way
you may be able to change the pickup directory that cdosys uses under the virtual SMTP scenario, but I am not sure if that will work with exchange picking it up, but maybe it will work ok because you said it does when you paste them in there manually.. I do not really know.. you'd have to try it and edit the email sub routine to use that pickup path
"scripts/emailing_subs_inc.asp" is where you could try editing that path , If you are using version 6 CDOSYS is not supported. That is one reason why version 7 came out. If you want to rewrite the code to work with CDOSYS in version 6 that is something you need to sort out on your own as I do not support custimization to the code. , here is a thread that may help you if this is what you were getting at
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo389-1.htm , Update..
I have support for the ibulc image uploading client working.
http://www.ibulc.com/
There is also an option in asp photo gallery pro to store the images original filename in the description field which is pretty cool.
Ibulc client bulk upload support currently only works with the pure vbscript upload or the safileup component. (I may support the other two components asp photo gallery can use but it really depends on time) The pure vbscript upload code I am using for this is much better than the code I was using before so that method should be offer decent performance for anyone though using a component is always better.
I still have to add the ibulc feature to the users side. It currently all only works for an admin user.
The whole process is very cool. You install the ibulc client on you computer. It's tiny, and free for uploading up to 10 (100kb) pictures at once. You have to by a domain license from them to do more than 10. Anyway.. it lets you select multiple pictures off your hard drive and it then uploads them all at once with individual progress info for each picture. Its really cool and since it really treats each picture as an individual upload it doesn't hammer the server with one big upload at once.
I also made it so you can start the picture uploads at any picture number. So if you already have pictures in an album you can add more without losing what is already there.
This was one of the main features of the new version and now that it is working hopefully I can tie up any loose ends and get the new version out soon. cwilliams38327.5488541667, [QUOTE=cwilliams] something weird is going on [/QUOTE]
Yeah that's my impression too. I've done a lot of searching before posting this problem, but haven't solved it. Maybe it has to do with the sql-server/hotel?
Though I have compared carefully what goes on (and it should all be good) it could still be the problem? I have now made it work on a local msde sql server too.. , Alright...I'll try those out. Also, if I do the data import on my laptop initially and just publish it to the server do you think that will help?, CJWSoft offers a mutually beneficial partnership program for resellers of our Active Server Pages Based Web applications.

Now I'm getting server errors:
page not found, then, service unavailable (the page is there). But in a new album, the images imported fine and it seems to be working now, despite the IIS issues.
I think my host restricted the amount of memory and resources my site is allowed to use. , I am up to speed on how it works. My goal was to not have just a link to a protected page- so that when a user clicks it they get the "access denied" screen and then have to log in. My goal was to avoid that if possible by having them log in and then redirected to the protected page.
So this isnt possible? The only way for it to work is for a user to click a link to the protected page, get the denied screen, then login and be redirected?
Or is there another way..?
I made my point by rebuttling your "cafepress" with agreeing "YES" that is what i want... now you are changing this around on me. I dont think i can be ANY clearer in what i intend to do. It is extremely clear and i am not sure why its becoming more than it should be. I just want the user to be able to log in from ANY PAGE ON THE WEBSITE AND THEN BE REDIRECTED TO THE PROTECTED PAGE IF THE HAVE THE PROPER CREDENTIALS. It would be nice if this software gave an error message when an incorrect username/password was entered instead of simply refreshing the screen. ,
