Blog Entry: 3/25/2006 1:45:50 PM
Well at least now the import/export link shows up now! lol, One problem that is appearing is that in the admin section, in the users.aspx page, only one user is showing up when there are in fact 9 users. Also, when I click the edit user or email icon, the page does not go to the edit screen, it remains on the same page.
Also, I’ve been trying to modify the code to adapt it for our application -- by removing fields that we do not need such as address, city, state, phone, but I am having trouble getting visual studio to compile. It could be due to the fact that the rest of the project is in C#. Or it could be due to some other factor in ASP Protect.

, As I'd said in my previous response, I found those databases and they didn't work. All three databases in asptest do work., on that particular page check the session variables manually (not using the include)
that way you are keeping the login access checking to an absolute minimum, elminating any form processing from the login procedure, and keeping the upload script happy
like so
<%
If Not InStr(Session("Groups"),"*1*") Then
' do whatever
End If
%>
you could response.write something followed by a response.end
or you might even want to response.redirect them to some other page that using the "check_user_inc.asp" where they can log in
And if you are going to be using a free asp upload script use this one as it is probably the best pure code upload solution available as far as performance goes.
http://www.freeaspupload.net
, sorry for delay responding,
I got bombarded with support inquiries while I was gone and I missed this one since I been home.
Does the server_info.asp page I provide say that aspupload is indeed installed. Let's start there. , all that docmunetation is online as well right here so you dont really need the chm file
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/info24.htm
the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?
, We want to insert a hyperlink i the mesage area when we e-mail users from the Password Admin area. Is ther an easy way to insert the hyperlink so when the user gets the e-mail, they can just click on it and go the the page we want them to?
Thanks,
Andy
cwilliams38456.0983101852, ok, PM me some additional info so I can go look around.
I dont quite understand everything going on.
Let me know what to do exactly to be successful logging in and also...
Let me know what to do exactly to reproduce the issue and I will tell you what I think.
, OK, so I misread the instructions. Wouldn't have been the first time
that happened... but I just had an account get created, guy then
paid, and... no activation. I had to go in the next day and do that by
hand. What should I do to look for troubleshooting on the issue? I've
got all the default directories set up and all the files where they
should be. What next?
, Just copy the files over. have permissions set on any folders that need it, and edit the data connection so it's valid for the new server. Once you get logged to the admin area go update all the settings so any urls are valid.
really its no different than a new installation so just follow those directions but use your existing files.
There is no domain pointing involved...
As logn as the old stuff is not accesible on the live internet you don't need another license.
As for my installation fee of 25. That is only for new installations. I charge more for something like that as there may be compications such as custom changes to the code that I would have to deal with. Customers often custimize the login and users area.. etc etc .. and there may be hardcoded urls and what not to worry about changing.
LASTLY, I noticed all your other posts are in the ASPProtect 7 area so the installaton process for that is a bit different than for Version 6 so what I said above is not quite the same process. Please make sure you post in the correct area when asking questions. , Hi
I have purchased the Standard version about a week ago. Its a great script.
I have been able to select uploaded banners from day one... but just now i dont seem to be able to select...
i know its hard for you to trouble shoot with such little information.. but i had to ask..
Should i maybe upload the site again ( but same the database first)?
regards
Domenic

, That worked...but when I tried importing the test user, the password was imported in an add formated...like it was encrypted, and I can't log in using the User ID that I imported., It's real easy actually if ya sniff around the source code.
ASP is so easy to (work with/edit) even if you dont know any code.
edit "save.asp" with a text editor
change
If Request("First_Name") = "" Then
ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You must enter a First Name.\n\n")
End If
to
If Request("Company_Name") = "" Then
ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You must enter a Company Name.\n\n")
End If
From looking at that save code I dont see where Last_Name was required. The only name I saw required was a 1st name.
Also.. making the First_Name not required may break something somwhere else. I dont think it will but it might. You are warned.
cwilliams38326.5102662037, well, I just tried a password using "abcdefghi" and like you said it did not work
I am looking into that.
Also, it seems I had the SQL scripts creating the "Old Password" field just in case someone needed it and I forgot about that. , Come on the threats are not necessary- i got the point the first time you said it.. i thought i made a friend thru this and felt comfortable to say something like that... i am not a big online chatter just do the web stuff as a hobby... i am a network / computer hardware guy (yet i work for a mortgage co. go figure...), Okay Chris, I wold like to get rid of the encryption then if it's not too much trouble.
I have no option of running the production server against an ms access db, since the db needs to be online and accessible from another system.
, when did you puchase/download the application? you may have old code., When I attempt to upload, it appears that the image uploads. I get a "Original Image Size 0 X 0 pixels"

they don't appear in the web pages, any thoughts? I am using VBscript to upload, my host has safileup but I am unable to use it in this script, thanks for any help
http://mcintoshcounty.org/real_estate/extras/server_info.asp
here's the site link
Never mind, had the path to the image folder screwed up
, Is there a simple way to upgrade from 7.x Lite to 7.x Full? I was testing out the software and I just purchased it. I have made some look and feel changes to the lite version (ie: login page), but no look and feel changes to the admin section. Is there certian files that I can add to have the full version without shorting myself features or functionalbity?
Thanks
, ok, well that should not be a problem then.. its meant to be able to be put in a folder like that.. just make sure the folder is not a subweb or anything like that... meaning dont set the folder up to have its own application in IIS. Just use a regular folder of course that is part of the root iis application.
Perhaps you just didnt edit the paths in the settings like I mentioned., Really, only you or your hosting company would know that information...
It is usally installed in the "_database" folder but the physical path including the drive letter to that can only be known by asking your hosting company or by using server mappath to learn the path on you own.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/physical-path.asp
That folder also needs special permissions. The permissions it needs are covered in the documentation for the software and generally only your hosting compnay can set those permissions.
The online support forums here are full of information and resources on correctly setting up data connections. It is ASP 101 and something you really need to have an understanding of.
I am happy to answer questions and try to help, but if you dont want to deal with it or can't we do offer installation services.
http://www.cjwsoft.com/installation_service.asp
, it might also be a good idea for you to try a simple text file writing example like this on your server and see if it hangs as well
http://www.devasp.com/samples/writetofile.asp
for troubleshooting sake
this is sounding more and more like the filesystem object is blocked or disabled on your server
, Of course ASP.NET is and HAS been installed. I have been running asp.net scripts for years on it. I am not new to asp.net nor setting up the server or anything. ASP.NET is properly installed and works perfectly.
You are missing the fact i mentioned it is a DOMAIN CONTROLLER.
I have come across MANY articles ONLINE via GOOGLE that mention if it is a domain controller, for some reason the aspnet account is not there or gets deleted.
IN ITS PLACE GOES THE IIS_WPG ACCOUNT. IS YOUR SOFTWARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS ACCOUNT?
Is it possible to run ASP.NET scripts without ASP.NET not being installed? Because I have been running asp.net pages without any problem.
, sounds like the data/export folde does not have permissions, yes, PM me the encryption and cookie keys if you don't mind.
I can add it to my combinations that cause trouble.
it might help me to figure this problem out.
, Thanks Chris.
Your solution worked!
,
I just added this line to the paypal1.asp
page
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code"
value="CAD">
and it worked. Clearly other values can be entered for other currencies.
Everything was listed in this manual https://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/subscriptions.pdf.
Cheers
Roy
, My guess it they are runnign some sort of ad blocking software like norton ad blocking. Something on the client side blocking ads or anything with the word ad in it.
I would investigate that., Has any one used the aspmail function to send emails from within your site? If so what did you use as the AspMail_Host string in the connections database?
thank you
, ya, that firewall could mess that up.
just edit which ever style include you are using
(with a text editor)
it will be one of these depending on your settings.. and they are located in the "scripts" directory
view_album_style1_inc.asp
view_album_style2_inc.asp
view_album_style3_inc.asp
find this section of code and remove the part in red
If Last_Counter_IP <> Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") Then
Set CmdUpdateCounter = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
cmdTemp.CommandText = "SELECT " & tbl_label_albums & ".* FROM " & tbl_label_albums & " WHERE (Album_ID = " & Album_ID & ")"
cmdTemp.CommandType = 1
Set cmdTemp.ActiveConnection = ConnGallery
CmdUpdateCounter.Open cmdTemp, , 1, 3
CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Album_Counter") = (Album_Counter + 1)
CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Last_Counter_IP") = Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR")
CmdUpdateCounter.Update
CmdUpdateCounter.Close
Album_Counter = Album_Counter + 1
End If
, Everything is running fine.. I can read ads... reply to them. but when I click sign in or register.. I get a server error.
Any suggestions
Thank You
, I have been working on this. 2Checkout is like the most confusing and worst payment processing company on the planet. There are things about that page I just don not understand as many times as I read through it.
Doesn't seem like this stuff is mandatory just yet. (I asked)
I should have something soon.
, Ya, you must have tried to upgrade from a really really old version like you said which wouldnt really work out because those instructions are specifically for upgrading a version 6 database to version 7.
That line error you had was looking for the User_ID field and I bet the version you had was so old that you didnt have a field named that as a few years ago the field "ID" got renamed to "User_ID"
As for all the cool stuff... yup there is a lot of cool stuff in this version... glad ya like it so far
cwilliams38418.8164930556, If it stopped working it has nothing to do with the ASP code. YIf could have stopped for any number of reasons as hosts often change email server requirements and info. You need to go over the email settings. Of course make sure you and the person you are sending to have valid email addresses and try different methods/settings until you get emailing to work again.
Testing it by sending emails off from the users screen.. in each email type in what you are trying at that time so you know what worked if emails make it through. Also, be sure to check junk filters when testing to make sure the emails are not being put in any of those.
That's what I would do. CDOSYS is always your best bet for sending emails as it has so many options and all new server support it. , Hi all
I logged in myself to my website, and I tried to log in to another with same username and password. But I was able to log in again.
It was supposed to block me from logging in, but it let me to log in.
there has got to be some configurations I must have missed.
Could you instruct me on this Concurrrent login so mine works as well...
thanks
,
grrrrrr
As far as the users thing... my fault that was setup wrong in the settings of the admin login page.
but still dont have a solution for what im trying to do
, I have a customer who is asking the following:
... could you make a link from it to our website and is there a way to see what traffic goes from us to them. They are going to pay a commission on sales, however I need to be able to track who views their site...
Wishful thinking or could you add code to track their IP address and display in the report section? Not sure that would be enough to satisfy this request. Suggestions?
Thanks, Lance
, I need to use SQL for other reasons than efficiency. If I create 2-seperate databases, would there be a lot of code to edit?
Thank you.
Lance
