It almost seems like allow images is denied. When I look at the ad it doesn't even show a place where the thumbnail or image would go:

, Got it working. Had purchased a long time ago and forgot about needing to run the userreg.exe. All is well and thanks for the follow up.
Lance ,
Totally 100% depends on what you are doing.. you certainly can't be renaming any fields unless you plan on editing a lot of code that references them. Adding new fields is nothing to worry about.
Also, you really should post a question like this under the forum section for the application you are referring to as well as specify exactly what changes you are talking about. For example I don't even know what application you are referring to.
I sell about 8 applications., Yes, that’s all I wanted to know. The problem is on my end. The server is not creating the .NET site correctly. I think I got it working now. Thanks.
In case you wanted to know? The only reason I asked you is because you mentioned that you where having trouble with overseas piracy and my account is new. I figured it was my user error by just though I’d ask you first. Hope you have no more piracy issues and have a good rest of the day.
Thanks again for the quick response. , Is there a possibility to build in a option that the administrator will be notifed when a banner expired.
, Can I copy the file into the export folder and then the import user function?, Testing for XML Parser Support
the microsoft xml parser is generally installed by default on all new server setups..
It allows ASP code to make calls to other pages anywhere on the new as well as a lot of other handy things..
download and run this ".asp" page to verfiy that it is installed and be sure it is available for you to use

Make sure you run it from your web server through the web browser cwilliams38331.5621180556, Message :
I purchased the V8 of the software yesterday. It is running on a 2000 Server with a MSSQL database. It is installed and I get the successful connection to database screen but when I click to enter the admin. console I continually get:
"Connection string not saved in (data/config/aspbanner_unlimited_config.asp) file. Most likey the data folder does not have proper permissions set on it. That folder and all of the folders within it need (R,W,X,D) Permissions set for the anonymous webserver account. These permissions can generally only be set by your hosting company."
I can save the string manually by hitting the button and I have checked that I have granted the proper access permissions. Any suggestions?
Ken, also, from looking at your site your ideal scenario would be a system that allows you to show all banners in one zone at any given time but in a different order.
ASPBanner is just not that sort of system. It is only designed to show one banner at a time from a given zone in random order., Hello,
If you are using ASPProtect Version 7 it is possible because version 7 supports html emailing. In any other version it would require some custom coding to add html email support. You would have to sort it out by experimenting and editing the emailing code. All the email methods have documentation on the web in some form or another showing how to send html emails.
Also, sometimes depending on the email component being used and the email client reading the email a link in a text based email will get hyperlinked automatically. For example outlook usually will do that, but it doesn't always in other situations.
Lastly, we have special upgrade pricing should anyone want to upgrade to ASPProtect Version 7. It really has a ton of great features.
Best Regards,
Chris Williams www.CJWSoft.com cwilliams38415.6414236111, I think you getting all confused about dsn's and what they really are.
A system dsn gets created via the ODBC control panel and gets listed there. A system dsn is nothing more than a registry entry telling information about where the database is an how to connect to it. Then every time code accesses the database it has to do a registry lookup. The whole process adds a lot of delays, causes very poor performance and is unnecessary.
A dsn-less connection simply connects directly to the database by specifying the driver being used, where the database is, and some other information like the password if there is one.
To get aspprotect or any other ASP application using a database all you have to do is make sure the database folder has correct permissions and then make a connection string like so. (with the correct info for your directory structure of course)
DBQ=c:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspprotect_6\data\database\ASPProtect _access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp
If you are wondering Access databases always use the same username.
So, basically if permissions are set correctly and the directory is valid it will work. It is really that simple. 99% of the time when people have problems it is one or the other.
That being said, don't worry about the odbc control panel and what is listed there for connections. All we really care about is that odbc drivers are installed and somewhat current.
One last thign for reference: even if you do make a system dsn the database folder still needs the correct permissions. cwilliams38417.7371643518, this error really does not mean anything specific
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
If you get an error its real weird that the file is being uploaded. Generally if you get an error during upload it is because of one of these 3 things
Invalid physical path specified
Unsupported upload method chosen
Permissions
See my article on XP and permissions http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_xp_pro_and_permi ssions.asp
many people dont do their permissions right on XP Pro and that article covers everything , Say, I just thought of one last thing.
Your not by any chance running something like norton antivirus with norton script blocker on that server are you ?
It can cause issues when ASP uses the filesystem object and cause never ending page hangs like you are having.
There are other apps as well that can cause it to hang.
http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2180
And ASPProtect does use the filesystem object., well, I just tried a password using "abcdefghi" and like you said it did not work
I am looking into that.
Also, it seems I had the SQL scripts creating the "Old Password" field just in case someone needed it and I forgot about that. , Than you
I'm happy after changing to XML parser for two of the ads. Later I'll change the other codes to XML, never to use iframe again! , humm, I dont know then..
If you want PM me your site info and I will go in and troubleshoot.
Frontpage or frontpage access, either way
and also the site URL , ok, that does not work but that still is not enough to help me troubleshoot.
I'll probably need to look around in your admin area and check things out in order to figure anything out.
I will also need to see the protection code you put on that page exactly as it appears.
PM (private message) the admin usersname/password to me if that is ok with you and I will check it out
it's really the only way I can help with an issue like this. I have to make sure you didn't do something wrong and then go from there , yea.. it sounds like aspimage is not working right.
You wont get any errors..
I would suggest using some of aspimage's sample asp pages in your web and see if they do their thing. You need to be sure aspimage is working correctly under the ,ost simple of circumstances
Though ASPImage is the standard in ASP image resizing and has been around forever and it works very well. Their support is almost non-existant.. in 6 years they have never answered any email I have sent them. I have sent them 6 or so over the years and then just stopped trying. I bought a server bundle too way back then for like 300.00 or so when we had a company called gisco. You would think they could answer my emails. I think that guy just made a ton of asp components back in the day and then just took a seriously long vacation. Updated them a few times in between when he felt like it and making good money the whole time.. More power too him I guess. I'd love to be in his shoes when he sells an enterprise license for 3000.00. Maybe he isn't even around anymore and the someone he knows just kept the sales going. Who knows..
Anyway... it does a great job when ya get it working.
Personally this is how I install it and it works every time. I like to put their dll in the system32 folder. Register it. Run their licensing prog to make it a full version if you paid for it yet. Right click on the dll and give the "everyone" account modify permissions Right click on the "windows/temp" folder and give it the same permissions , We are using this photo gallery to manage galeries of all the prodcut

, Greetings:
I am doing the initial set-up and have run into a problem. Everything has gone smoothly up to and including pulling up the get_me_in.asp page. When I enter the "PasswordEncryptionKey", nothing happens. The page just sits there without doing anything and the browser says it's opening the page, but never does. I have tried entering the value with and without the double-quotes. The value is the correct one from the config_inc.asp file. I did a copy paste from the file twice to insure I transferred it correctly.
I am running Windows 2000 server.
What now?
Warren , For pay signups you set the groups during signup it like this thread tells you to
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo186-1.htm
only difference is you need to specify the groups info like so (basically getting rid of the commas and just leaving behind the group numbers with a * around everything)
Also be sure to have no double asterisks
so, *1*,*2* would just be *1*2*
so, *1*,*2*,*5* would just be *1*2*5* cwilliams38460.5969444444, I have added two users in different group access but none of them can login to the pages
, Thanks for the information. We added the name manually instead of using the App_Name variable., the no concurrent login feature is based on IP addresses.. if you logged in again using the same IP address it would let you in regardless. So for example if you were behind a rhome router and logged in to a site on the internet it would nt matter if you had multiple computers at home because they would all have the same external IP address... etc etc
In other words it is tricky to correctly test..
I really need more detailed info on everything going on. I real world scenarios there are no issues with that feature that I know of. At least according to customers so far. , Well at least now the import/export link shows up now! lol, Humm, I can see all those pages loading just fine at both domains so you got me pretty confused at this point as you just said they didnt load.
regardless, the data connection tests are failing with both of them.
so let me ask you again how are you setting permissions on the database folders? , If you are developing using Windows 2003 Server and running the NTFS file system setting proper permissions on a folder in your website is done like so.
using "my computer" browse to the folder in your web that you need to set permissions on.
Right click on that folder and then choose the "security" tab.
Give the "Internet Guest Account" Modify Permissions This will check all the boxes under modify as well.
You can also give permissions to the everyone account and accomplish the same thing.

Other things to note:
If you are using ASP.NET you need to give permissions to an account called ASPNET. It wont show up in the user list. You'll need to click "add" and then type in "ASPNET"
In some cases you may want to go into the advanced tab and check both checkboxes shown in order to make sure the permissions you need get set. It really all depends on the situation.
cwilliams38342.7343981481, Making progress. I have made the appropriate settings and now I have the option to upload. When I upload, I get the following message:
"Your upload did not succeed, most likely because your browser does not support Upload via this mechanism.
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
I am using IE6 XP SP2. I also am using DUNDAS UPLOAD, ASPIMAGE.
I think I set permissions correctly bot not positive. I have given all auth to everyone for the database etc. , question 2 is answered best here
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=319&KW =paypal
Ok, got it. Didn't know if there was something already set up for this that I was missing.
>>I should also mention that the paypals scenarios used in ASPProtect can not be tested using PayPal's sandbox.
Ok. Thanks.
>>Also test using two real PayPal accounts and on a live setup. (You'll allowed two paypal accounts) then you can log into the other and refund the transctions and of
course it makes sense to use low amount like 1 cent and what not.
Yeah, been messing around with
that. Got everything going except the return page which I can't
do until the site is live.
>>Also, I'd love to see what you came up with with the
integration. I have been working on it here as well and took it in a
different direction as I plan to sell directions for it as an add-on
for aspprotect.
Ok. Will email you with a username and password for access to the site once it's live.
Sounds like a great add-on for ASPProtect!
Thanks!
Michelle
, ok, it works fine here with that password encryption key and password you sent me. I also looked in the database and I got the same encrypted password password which definetly has a weird hidden line break in it. (for example if you copy and paste it only the 1st part shows up like when you pasted it above.. as it is really the same length as the that guys email address)
Maybe you do not have the newest code. (I added some code to check for those weird line breaks and take care of them) I am going to PM you the latest version. Please download it and just take the "check_user_inc.asp" file out and copy it into your existing install.
Then try logging in as that person again.
If that works you should also grab the new version of "password_admin/check_admin_inc.asp" as well, I am using VS 2005, when i go to new project in visual basic folder asp.net web application is not there..
Can i add it somehow? , OK, I figured out the problem. Not running ASP becasue the pages are not saved as ASP but rather HTM... OK so I am smart like a tractor but strong like an ox. cwilliams38229.9128819444, no, there is not not.
If you wanted to to that you would have to add some code to check their album count in the database and not allow them to make a new album if they were at the limit. cwilliams38433.0233680556, When a new user adds themselves to the db thru the registration page, no user id is assigned in the User_id field. I can't access the page on-line due to an user_id related error on the page. I must use access itself and add the user id. After that, everything works as expected.
What have I done? , I am trying to understand how/where the "Log_Off_URL" variable is set
I have searched the forum for that string but don't get real good
results...I think the _'s are replaced with spaces for the search.
I am learning how to use the groups options and have modified some of
your example access level examples to test out group stuff. At the
bottom of the default.asp page I see a "LOG OFF SYSTEM" link that is
filled with a link stored in the Log_Off_URL variable and it looks
like that is being set back to the default.asp file somehow. So when
I click on it it just refreshes the page and appears to keep my user
logged in.
Seems like it should log out the user and redisplay the
login page. Is there a way to log totally off and have the login page
show up again? I am sure I am missing some obvious thing
somewhere...I can see where the Log_Off_URL variable is being created
in the config_inc.asp file but did'nt know where to look for more
info. Can you point me to an existing forum link?
Thanks!!
, Disallowed Parent Path
The Include file '../dataconn_inc.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.
When you get an error like this it is because parent paths are disabled on the web server. This is a setting in the IIS console for your website.
If it is not enabled on you server you will have to ask your host to enable parent paths for your website.
This is what the settings screen looks like on an XP Machine

Additional Information:
It is enabled by default on IIS4-IIS5 but in IIS6 it is disabled by default. It is a minor security risk to have enabled and some hosts can be difficult about setting it.
Truth is, if your hosting ASP for customers you need to enable this setting if the customer requests it. Especially since 90% of the ASP applications out there require the setting.
Hosting companies should if they are serious about hosting ASP.
If they won't your only option is to go through all the code and convert the file includes to virtual includes.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/includes.asp
The trouble with virtual includes is they are different depending on the layout of your website. (that's why web application developers generally don't use them)
Basically if you are in a sub domain the path for the virtual include is going to be different then if you were in the root.. etc etc
Also.. someone developing on a local machine would need totally different virtual includes on the development server than they would on the live server. Server Side includes are processed before ASP so there is no way to make them SMART, so to speak. Server Side includes are hardcoded and that's that.
In my opinion virtual includes are pretty useless for commercial web based applications... Since you don't know where the customers plan to install the apps. And YES there are some tricks when designing the applications that make it less of an issue but they are not perfect solutions.
For example...
The virtual include below would work if the application or code was installed in the root <!--#include virtual = /somefile.asp"-->
But if the application or code was installed in a directory called "somedirectory" the virtual include directive would need to look like this
<!--#include virtual = "/somedirectory/somefile.asp"--> cwilliams38391.6033101852, Well. fontpage publishing is evil. That you have found out.
Do not use it. It usually wont work right when running asp code locally and also at the server because of differences with the paths and virtual directory structure. etc etc etc
You can definetly use frontpage to connect to the web site live and drag and drop files into it/edit them... but the sooner you stop using the publishing feature the better off you will be. , That was it - Thanks!, someone has to do something other than me.. i've given up
if i give u the username/pw can you set this up on the network solutions host and ask them to set whatever permissions are needed?
cant do it anymore.... ,
