The default database password is "temp"
This is noted in the docs. You can also see the current password by looking at your connection string.

I ended up copying the database with the password to the directory and used the user/password connection code and it works great. I believe it was related to that but I cannot be sure. Thanks again!

I dont use anything regarding SQLMAIL in the ASPProtect code.
I think I might need to go in so I can debug a bit. Everything seems to work fine with a SQL installation here so I just don't know at the moment.
If that is ok with you I would need ftp access or something so I can trry a few things and hopefully figure it out. Admin access to the aspprotect admin area as well so I can see what you have set up in there.

, I have been able to successfully edit some text colors, but there seems to be one page that wont change the text color. Inside the users/ folder, the login.asp page, i cant seem to change the text color from ffffff to 000000 so it can be read on my background color. Every page in the script is correct but this one.

cwilliams38421.7018055556, the txt file is only lke 624 kb...so I'm not sure, It really means just what it says. Your connection string is just not valid and the sql server speicifed can not be reached. The username and password could also be invalid. Since you already had a database set up you should use the same username and password you have always been using. You also need to use the same database name you have always been using. Without actually knowing more and seeing what you are doing it is pretty hard to tell you anymore than that.
The directions and sql scripts given are for setting up a new sql database. Applying them to an existing sql database requires a slightly different approach. Modificiations to the SQL scripts elimintating references to the usernames/password/database we suggest in the scripts is also a good idea.
A data connection is a low level as it gets. Until you get that working you are really not even touching any of the code in the ASPListings application.
If you want I have no problem going into your sql server and web and setting up for you correctly.

I just spent a bunch of time in your setup using SQL server and I didnt have a single issue. It all seems to be working perfectly to me.
I got into the system using the "get_me_in.asp" page like the instructions say to to.. then I deleted those two users you had there.
I created a new user called "admin".. then I edited that user to make him an admin.
I have logged off and back on as that user a bunch of times without issue.

I also took the liberty of going into the settings page and setting all that up for you as well so all the url paths are right now and emailing from the application works.
I am going to wait an hour or so and try to log in a few more times but it honestly seems to be running perfectly to me. , like I said you made changes to something to cause that...

, I am running into problems with the import function. I have 25 photos loaded into the import folder. The page see all of the photos. But after I click on the import process it takes me Picture Manager with no pictures loaded. I have hit the refresh button, but there is nothing there. dr_bones38394.676412037, well, thats a network drive path and in my opinion a very poor way for them to have set things up. It can work as long as permissions get set there and they have the anonymous webserver accounts set up correctly to handle that scenario, but performance isn't the best because your accessing the access database over the network. Access databases are not just not meant to be connected to over the network in a web based scenario. Quality ASP hosting companies do not set up their servers that way and it can often be difficult to get things running as it is a more complex setup on their end. Meaning if they dont synchronize the IUSR_machine accounts correctly you'll have permission issues.

, If you are developing using Windows 2003 Server and running the NTFS file system setting proper permissions on a folder in your website is done like so.
using "my computer" browse to the folder in your web that you need to set permissions on.
Right click on that folder and then choose the "security" tab.
Give the "Internet Guest Account" Modify Permissions
This will check all the boxes under modify as well.
You can also give permissions to the everyone account and accomplish the same thing.
Other things to note:
If you are using ASP.NET you need to give permissions to an account called ASPNET. It wont show up in the user list. You'll need to click "add" and then type in "ASPNET"
In some cases you may want to go into the advanced tab and check both checkboxes shown in order to make sure the permissions you need get set. It really all depends on the situation.

Still with same message. I wonder if deleting this user and putting him back in might help. I have not however tried any other user names and passwords.

Flash files cannot track clicks unless you edit the original flash file to link to the aspbanner system redirect URL.. feeding it the correct ID of the banner.
When that link is clicked on it will then track the click and redirect the user to the “link url” specified for that banner.
The system actually generates the necessary ASPBanner URL for you. That link is shown on the banner edit screen.(you must save the banner at least once and come back to that screen to see the link though)
Really the best way to show it is with an example as seen below.
Basically the flash banner file "powerasp.swf" highlighted in green needs to be edited to link to the banner redirect url which is highlighted in red.... the banner redirect url will then track the click and ultimately send the user to the Link_URL highligthed in blue.
All banners systems work this way when it comes to flash files.

The flash source code must be edited to link to the redirect url in the ASPBanner system. There is no possible way any banner system can track a flash click unless the flash file links to the banner system 1st.... because that click is handled by Flash and the web browser.
In some cases if you do have the original source file for the flash banner then you are out of luck as far as tracking clicks goes.
On a side note... if you create flash banners the way this article says you can actually feed a .swf flash file a link for it to click to. Instead of it being hardcoded.

This is really the way everyone should design their flash banners from now on because the url it links to can be easily changed at any time without editing the flash file source code.

I decided to use one of my client's hosts; which happens to be Network Solutions.
ANYWAY again-
I uploaded the whole thing there and they advised me they cannot do the explicit permissions on that _database folder. This is what they said: I would also would like to point out that ASP.NET applications and permissions do not extend to any other folder, other than the root, (/htdocs/), and the bin, (/htdocs/bin/) folders. Sub-directories and folder after bin and htdocs will not have ASP.NET permission (read or write).
If you could move or reconfigure your application to save all your code behind, include and dll files onto the root or bin folder, your application could work or possibly run as you would expect. Please have this done and retest your application. If and when you get a different problem or another error after doing so, please let us know, and we shall be happy to help you troubleshoot any problems that you may have.
There is a 'create database option' where i can create a database..create a dsnname, user name, password and have to specify the database file name. Once i do this i need to place the database file (aspprotectnet2002.mdb) in the /db folder within the root. I also tried this and made the appropriate change in the web.config but it STILL DOES NOT WORK. I AM PULLING MY HAIROUT WHY WONT ANYTHING WORK.

, 1st. Please understand you have to purchase two licenses to do such a thing as each installation will need a valid license purchased.
Moving on:
ASPProtect using a industry standard concept called "Forms Based Authentication"
This primarily relies on session variables keeping track of login status.
Each installation must be in it's own unique "IIS Application" so it will have it's own set of application and session variables.
That is often not possible with shared hosting plans as the server admins may not be willing to set a folder in your web as a separate IIS application. You would need to ask. It is going to depend on the quality of your hosting plan whether they do it or not.
technically it takes about 1 minute to open up the "IIS Console" and set up a folder in your web as a separate "application"
Based on what you are telling me that you want to do I think it would make a lot more sense to have one installation and one user database and customize your sites so ASPProtect users that are part of certain "groups" have access to things others do not or see things on pages other users would not. That is after all the entire point of Dynamic web sites and also why ASPProtect has "groups".
Then as far as the registration differences go you would make a copy of the users area folder area and manual customize it to register users in an alternate fashion than the main "users" folder. And then send people there if that is how you want them to register.
I don't support customizations but that is the gist of it. It's really not difficult work, but you have to be good with ASP., They really have do not have anything to do with each other as far as code and numbering goes, but I really do not fully understand your question or where you are going with this. (the part about the user setup ?)
Groups are more powerful than access levels and are meant to replace them. Access Levels are only there for backward compatibilty with older versions. , I believe I'm having trouble with Domain masking in that it appears to affect the ASP Photo Gallery login screen.
My address is forwarded and masked by my domain "company" (in this case: Godaddy.com). It is forwarded to a Win2000 Server running at my static home IP.
From outside of my network, the website appears to work fine...even the default.asp page works to the point of the login page. After entering a login and password - you hit the login button and the page simply reloads only with all of the header and footer information removed.
I found that by eliminating the domain masking feature at the domain company, the problem gets eliminated and the entrie site works fine.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm guessing it's the way the domain name is held in the browser cache but I'm not sure how to resolve it so that the ASPPhotoGallery scripts and pointers work correctly.

the header and footer files for the users area may be ok as well.
probably the smart thing to do is try your old ones and compare them to the new and see if everything you need is there. If not add it by looking at the source html and comparing.
All other files should definetly be replaced with the new.

Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard.

Thanks again., you would have to edit the application in visual studio.net.. change some things around and recompile the application... in the process figuring out how you want to handle all of that (probably combining the username and email fields just on the registration form then saving both values to the database)

I understand about the physical path for the DSN-less connection and followed the example given. I got in touch with tech support for the host of my site and the give me the following as a physical path:
c:\sites\Single20\laptv1\database
Some observations:
1.- The database directory is outside the root dir but I think I am accounting for it with the path
2.- The permissions are ok

, Installing and running NET on a DOMAIN CONTROLLER is a BAD idea period.
Besides the security risks you will have nothing but endless problems
with that setup. Domain controllers ARE NOT and NEVER were intended to
be run as any sort of application server. Your best bet is to run your
asp and asp.net scripts from a member server or one set up just for web
apps. Of course if your in the mood to mess around endlessly it is
possible to make that work, but why would you want to when the prefered
solution is a heck of a lot easier.

Its just not enough information to go on. I need more details on what is going on. There are a lot of configuration settings in these applications. I really do not know what to make of that screen shot.
My 1st guess is that if you cannot delete a picture that the picture folder does not have delete permissions ??
I also need to mention that I am not sure what this has to do with ASPImage ?
