For all you advanced users..
Here are two examples of ASP.NET code you can use on your ".aspx" pages to call banners from the ASP 3.0 version of ASPBaner Unlimited V8
This code is not supported... and you of course must change things accordingly like the variable names and zone numbers to match the zone you want to call banners from as well as the url.
2004-08-27_153832_asp.net_examples.zip
cwilliams38226.6523263889, You can mix and match banner calling methods all you want. Try it and see what happens.
However, the only method that is going to work on non ".asp" pages is the javascript or the new iframe method listed in the support forums.
cwilliams38209.532349537,
well, I just tried a password using "abcdefghi" and like you said it did not work
I am looking into that.
Also, it seems I had the SQL scripts creating the "Old Password" field just in case someone needed it and I forgot about that. , humm, I dont know.
If you want me too I would be glad to go into your web site and troubleshoot. If so PM me the info I need and I will take a look and see if I can figure it out.

, Chris,
Another question on V7. I set up all the paths as required for the extras like user pics and exports on my site. They were working fine. I created an export, then as you recommend, deleted the file on the site to ensure it doesn't get in the wrong hands. I did this a few times to test it after a number of people logged in.
About 2 days later, I went to do it again and the system came back with an error saying the directory didn't exist. I know it did because I created it and it worked fine. I then created the directory again thinking I was losing it.
Then today, I went to do another export and the directory is gone again! Can you help me understand why this might be happening? I am the only one with FTP access to the site so there is no way that it could be someone else doing it. The error I get is:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'
Path not found
/password_admin/export.asp, line 78
Thanks, Dave , like I mentioned are you by chance running something like Norton Antivirus Script Blocking ?? That can cause timeouts and all sorts of problems with ASP as can other software like it. , This has not been officially released yet, but it is ready. Here is the overview... http://www.aspprotect.com/demo3/paypal_signup2/overview.asp
And the Code for the IPN Subscription Pack is 30.00. http://www.aspprotect.com/ipn_subscription_support_pack.asp
A few people are using it and say it works very well.
Like the IPN Single Purchase System it is a separate directory you copy into the web site. One change must be made to your database so it’s pretty easy to get working.
Though I am not guaranteeing this you should be able to accept Single IPN payments and IPN Subscriptions at the same time without the two bothering each other. I haven’t tested it but one customer is doing it and said it is working fine. It just involves manually specifying the IPN URL for one of the systems so it overrides the default IPN URL on your paypal settings. (As each system needs its own IPN URL) Its easy to do… just a form field you would add to the subscription form. I already looked it up. See below.
Specifying Your Notification URL
If you only need to receive your IPNs at a single URL, you can enter that URL in the Preferences section of your Profile. If you would like to receive payment notifications for different payments at different URLs (i.e. if you need to separate payments made to different websites you run), you can manually pass the IPN URL with each payment by including it in that payment’s HTML code. Use the notify_url field to pass this information. The notify_url for a specific payment will be saved, and any subsequent updates to that payment (e.g. cleared eCheck) will be sent to that notify_url. When you pass a notify_url in your HTML code, it will override any preferences you set in your Profile.
Anyway.. the Code for the IPN Subscription Pack is 30.00. http://www.aspprotect.com/ipn_subscription_support_pack.asp
cwilliams38342.8775578704, actually, looks like its 8.95 a month now for a pretty slick plan http://www.alentus.com/hosting/valueplan.asp, The "forgot your password" feature is not sending passwords to users when they put in their emails.
Any suggestions?
Thanks , new version is still not finshed as of the end of the year... I am not going to release it until I feel it is ready., Did you ever figure out the process for VS2005?, now. I just went to that url and this is the error I see which shows me there is a character in the source code that shouldnt be there which is causing the page to halt.
Looks like a "carrot".
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0400'
Expected statement
D:\CLIENTS\RKLARMAN\DRSWEISBERG\PASSWORD_ADMIN\../dataconn_i nc.asp, line 18 <%
^ , okay thanks, My site is composed of mostly asp based pages with some javascripting thrown in, but a fair amount is strictly html and javascripting. Currently I am using the javascript banner method throughout the site.
You have mentioned in the past that several other methods might be a better option for asp pages.
Examples would be: XML Parser Method or asphttp method.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the javascript method on my non-asp pages and maybe the asphttp method on the asp pages and all in the same Zone?
Or, is it possible to use the asphttp method on all pages, whether they are asp or not?
I'm just trying to figure out what is the most efficient way to use the banner system.
Or maybe should I just keep it all javascript method?
Any helpful feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks.

, I just got home from a lonnng trip.. I will try to answer this 1st thing in the morning.
CJW, After turning off the friendly errors, here is the detail.
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131' Disallowed Parent Path

The 2Checkout Support Pack which is built in to ASPProtect 7 contains all the pre-built scripts you need to implement 2Checkout Payments with ASPProtect. You must be using version 2 of the 2checkout system. They are phasing out version 1 regardless so everyone will be using version 2 very soon if they are not already.
THIS IS NOT INTENDED OR DESIGNED TO USE 2CHECKOUT SUBSCRIPTIONS. (see bottom of this thread for more info on that)
This Support Pack basically gives you an additional signup and registration directory "2checkout_signup" and it should not interfere with any changes or customizations you have made to your ASPProtect setup in general. New users can register in this directory and pay for membership at the same time. Existing users whether active or expired can be sent to this directory where they can lookup their account and buy additional membership time online. You can also assign various Access and Group Levels during signup and you can set up various prices for various amounts of time as well. This is a real-time setup for the most part. As soon as a user pays via 2Checkout your system is updated and they will have access.
The 2checkout pack is NEW.. and was released on March 19, 2005. If you don't have it and would like it please just ask.
To start using this edit the "2checkout_signup/2checkout_config_inc.asp" file
You will be entering your 2Checkout Account number in that file as well as the URL you want a user to go to after payment. It is all commented in that file. (There is also a testing variable you can set to True if you want to do testing without real charges being applied)
After editing that file run this page.
http://www.mysite.com/2checkout_signup/show_postback_path.asp
Replacing the part in blue with your website info.
It will report back that postback url you need to use in the 2checkout system.
Log into your 2checkout version 2 account and under the "look & feel section" enter that postback url for both the "Approved URL" and the "Pending URL"
Trust me: You want the URL there for a pending URL because the 2Checkout system is quite random and 95% of the payments that come in go to the pending URL and end up being legitimate sales. (at least for me they do)
Now make sure the Direct Return option on that page is on as well.
If set to Yes buyers will be immediately directed to your URLs below once they click the Complete Order button. If set to No the buyers will have to click a button to return to your URLs below. |
>> |
Save that page... and leave 2checkout.
| Now, delete this page from your ASPProtect setup. http://www.mysite.com/2checkout_signup/show_postback_path.asp
It's a minor security risk and is no longer needed needed.
The basic setup is finished. All you have to now is set up payments options the way you want them.
Changing Payment Options
In the "2checkout1.asp" file there are form options set up.
They look like this and you can have as many as you like.
<option selected value="30,9.95,3,">30 Days, 9.95</option>
In this option... A user has the option to purchase 30 days for $9.95 and he will be set to Access Level 3 when payment in completed.
Here is how it works.
The value setting (red) is essentially and array that can be made up 4 elements separated by comma's They must be separated by a comma and there can be no spaces. In this example the 4th value was not used but the last comma must still be there. If you didn't want to set an access level and left out the "3" there would 2 commas at the end. etc etc Basically there must always be 3 commas but you only have to set the 1st 2 values which are days and price.
days,price,access level,groups
The 1st value is the amount of days. The 2nd value is the price for the amount of days. The 3rd value is the access level you want to user assigned to. The 4th option is the groups you want the user assigned to. (see PayPal subscription thread for examples of specifying group info)
Now, the label for the option in (blue) can say whatever you like. , I've got an ecommerce module that's running on it that uses access for the db. Connecting into that thing is slow as well, but I figured that's because of the complications and volume it handles.
So as far as importing on a faster machine and copying it over to the server...what suggestions do you have? , CJWSoft offers a mutually beneficial partnership program for resellers of our Active Server Pages Based Web applications.

The categories seem to be getting mixed up. I removed ASP Classified but classfieds categories is still appearing in the student of ASP Listing.
How do I fix this?
Thanks , Hi all
User activity screen shows history of logged-in users.
Is it possible to view only those users that are currently logged in ? not the all users that have logged in previously
thanks in advance
, I believe what happened is we received the older copy of ASP Banner iwht our purchase of ASP Protect and were notified of a free update to download aspbanner_unlimited_v8.2_feb_26_2005.zip which we did, and that's the one i recently put on our site.
Sounds from your reply that something technical is going on to the point where I will have to hire one of our Web consutants to dissect for us. We'll try again and track our issues and send another request for information when we can show you a specific example of what is happening. I'll be in touch. ,
I have been using ASPBanner for a while and am very pleased with it. Congratulations on a good product.
Only one feature is missing that would really help me and this is being able to display banners dependent on some condition (/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?BannerZone=6&condition=xxx ).
I think this would be a good idea as it would allow users to present adverts based on different criteria; for example; specific country/region related ads, ads based on time of day, ads based on user preferences, etc.
To achieve this I was thinking of adding a field to the database so that I can enter a set of comma delimited conditions for which the banner can be displayed.
I have looked through some of the asp code with the intention of seeing how easy it would be to implement the functionality. Not knowing the code however, I think that modifying it myself would be risky as I may inadvertently change things, which would have a negative effect.
Would adding this type of functionality in ASPBanner be of interest to you. If not, can you let me have your opinion as to whether this would be relatively simple change for me to do myself or would it be too risky and I should give up the idea. Any guidance or feedback would be appreciated.
, I have never heard of such a thing... If the settings are enabled for the web it should work. That is, as long as your include file syntax is valid.
I run my own windows 2003 server (you are on it now) so I should know
for troubleshooting
try a very very simple example... like a file in a folder.. with a server side include to a file under it
and see if that works
use real simple asp files with nothing crazy in them... and an include like this
<!--#include file = "../myfile.asp"--> cwilliams38434.5388773148, Much thanks, the duplicate incl's I spaced on and should have caught. The hidden form variable was a key issue. Thanks for the syntax and the help. Now I get this page together. j As a note - I got faster results by dropping my timeout to 3 minutes temporarily while progging and cleared browser cache between tests. Thanks again. , Have tried doing that but same error...
, As I'd said in my previous response, I found those databases and they didn't work. All three databases in asptest do work., does emailing work at the simplest level.. ??
meaning does a user get an email when you send an email from the admin users screen ?
if emails are not sending it could very well be the setting you have chosen for emails in the settings.
the best thing to do is keep trying to send an email there and try different emails settings until you get something that works... even when I do installs for people I often have to try a lot of various things before I get emails to send.. like picking different components and trying different things for the email server address because what they tell me is often wrong
also, sometimes emails get sent but depending on where they go they may get deleted as spam.. aol, hotmail, msn, and yahoo are famous for that , Hi,
I don't see any good reason to rename any of those files.
Changing them though may involve changes to the code recompiling, etc etc... it is not something I support. , That would not happen unless you added a target to the login form or you're code had a base target set.
Like so..
<base target="_blank">
I would really need more detailed information. It's nothing the system does the way it ships under normal circumstances. For example you shouldn't see that behavior in any of the example protected ".asp" pages
that is unless you have something odd going on with your browser settings or you made changes to the login form or code around it causing it. (or you are using frames and dont have some of the targets and what not set correctly)
My guess is that it has to be something you added or did, but I really need to know more to offer more than that.
cwilliams38419.7687152778, Also, I notice you are using iframes to load the banners. That is probably your issue more than anything. That browser probably does not handle them well.
Possibly try other methods of displaying the banners and see what happens. The XML parser is usually one the best methods to try as it will output just your banner code straight into your html. , ok... glad ya figured it out.
Yes.. for ASP server side code to run the page extension must be ".asp". I was gonna mention that but I guess I just didnt think anyone would do that.
no offense.. not everyone works with this stuff every day.. , Hello
I have a strange problem with the thumbnails in the ASPClassifieds. If i upload some pictures in an ad, the 2nd picture always shows with an x, as the picture doesn´t exists. But if i click on the 2nd thumbnail, the picture shows okay. I haven´t changed enything from the original code. Does anyone have any idea, where it goes wrong ?
With best regards, Erling Larsen , its that server, it's way underpowered when it comes to running dynamic code and databases.. and that other app is probably stealing all the leftover odbc resources..... did you try doing the import on another machine running ASP? Thats the way to go.. I am afraid I won't be much help at the moment.. I am battling with a crashed system and a lot of lost data, Very weird for sure but I guarantee no code in ASPProtect is deleting that folder. Something else is going on the server and deleting it and I have no idea what it would be.
Maybe try leaving a blank text file in it and see if the folder disappears after a few days., Yes, that worked... ,
I was actually able to do similar thing by allowing our dedicated search engine to access the site unchallanged.
<% If Trim(Left(Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_USER_AGENT"),11)) = "MYPASSWORD" Then SearchFlag = True End If If SearchFlag <> True Then If Session("Access_Level") > CHECKFOR or Session("Access_Level") = "" Then %> <!--#include virtual="/Auth/check_user_Code.asp" --> <head> <title>My Title</title>
</head>
<body>
My Protected stuff here
</body>
</html>
For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.
Thanks,
Mo
I just added couple of lines and it works fine
If (Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR")) = "xxx.xx.xxx.xxx" Then ' Session("PasswordAccess") = "Yes" SearchFlag = true End If , Thank you!!
Yippee!
