Hope the wedding went well. I have one this weekend.
I was successful at performing an upload. The free upload software was either not configure properly (probably) or not working. I downloaded the trial version of softartisan's upload (which is like over $300) and it started working.
Can more than one photo be uploaded at one time (like a whole folder full of photos) or does each have to be done individually?

Makes sense to me. I used the ASPProtect_access2002.mdb supplied.
(I am using 2003). Only added more names and other personal info
to it for test. Uploaded the amended db with FTP. This did not
restrict someone not listed in db from logging in.
Would each individuals' information need to be added to the code in
order to have it check the database first to find out if the person is
authorized to view?
Part of the problem is I dont know which ASP page or script links the
db to the rest of the web, or how one page relates or links to the
other.
Sometimes I wonder if problems I encounter originate with the server.

, Your users with Internet Explorer may have received the "Page Expired" error. For ASPProtect users, it happens when the user is not logged on and tries to invoke the target page. check_user_inc.asp puts up the login form, and IE sees it as part of the target page. Any later attempt to Back up and reload from cache gives the errror.
My solution was, after successful login, instead of falling through the bottom of check_user_inc.asp and running the target page, I issue a re-direct to reload the target page. I also added META tags on the dynamic login form to say no-cache and expire now, so the re-direct really does reload the target page. This time, of course, check_user_inc.asp does not need to put up the login form, and the new target page in cache contains no form at all. So, IE will not give a Page Expired error when Backing up to it later.
Netscape, and I gather other browsers, do not behave the same way, so I limited the solution to IE. Also, the solution only works if the target page has no form of its own.
I'm uploading my customized version of check_user_inc.asp that contains this solution. (In it, I also used the Javascript focus method to place the "cursor" in the Username field when the login form loads.)

cwilliams38313.494537037, Very weird for sure but I guarantee no code in ASPProtect is deleting that folder. Something else is going on the server and deleting it and I have no idea what it would be.
Maybe try leaving a blank text file in it and see if the folder disappears after a few days., in Control_pic.asp is there way to wrap the description field so that it doesn't go outside the table.

While there is no option in the admin area / asp code we give you here is what I can tell you.
You have the source code and we also use an open database structure. (MSAccess or MSSQL) So that means you can really run any query you want on the database whether with ASP code or directly in your database. You can even tie other systems and code into the database via OBDC and manipulate data. The sky is the limit.
In MSSQL you can run queries in SQL enterprise manager or query analyzer. Using Access you can run queries in query view.
It's really not that hard if you do some research on SQL Statements and how to use them. You can do some very powerful queries and save yourself a lot of time. , When I add a user, I can not activat it.
What do you have the registration type set to in the settings ?
They wont be activated automatically unless you have "automatically" selected ?

I am not quite sure I understand ? Seems to me like that would be normal because you can always log in as the admin at any time. If you cant log in as the user you just signed up as that could be for a couple reasons relating to the registration type you have slected in the settings. There are 3 types all epxlained in the settings screen. Some require manual activation byt the admin, some involve a registration email.. etc etc
I can restart the APP and log in as Admin, but the user I added

My system will also not allow me to set the Stay Loged in FLag.

As I told you in an email earlier cookies must be enabled for authentication to work. You mentioned now you can not log off ? I am not sure I know what you mean by that. I assume you know to close all browser windows when testing things like this and I assume you know you have specifically log off and confim it in order to remove the remember me cookie and have to log in again when you return to the site.

I would really need more detailed information. It's nothing the system does the way it ships under normal circumstances. For example you shouldn't see that behavior in any of the example protected ".asp" pages
that is unless you have something odd going on with your browser settings or you made changes to the login form or code around it causing it. (or you are using frames and dont have some of the targets and what not set correctly)
My guess is that it has to be something you added or did, but I really need to know more to offer more than that.
cwilliams38419.7687152778, Verison 8 is superior in every way and the code is much more optimized so yes I think it would handle it better. It is still a lot of banners on one page though which means a lot of hits to the database if you call them all individually with zone calling code. SQL server would make sense more than MSACCESS.
Now, the only reason I said make one zone for all those banners on the home page is because a banner has to be associated with a zone. It would make sense to put them all in one because if you just tracked the clicks like I mentioned you really wouldnt be using the zone except for maybe when you go to view stats. , when did you puchase/download the application? you may have old code., ok, I have been using the AspHttp Component method for displaying my ads along with the google adsense code. However, in the last few days my site was taking too long to load, so I replaced the AspHttp component, with Javascript method. The site was back to speed. But now, the Google Adsense banners do not show up. Is there a solution for that? Can the Javascript show Adsense banners also? Because they do show the Flash banners., Chris, I'm having problems getting this to work. When I plug in the redirect URL and then try to load the web page, the Flash ad never loads successfully - just its black background in the 468 x 60 space. Here's an example of what I'm seeing:

I mean, why bother making a group or access level for every user and worrying about keeping track of it all when you can just access the available session info about the user to create dynamic pages specific to that user.

You can of course use some combination of the two technologies as well should you have groups of users that you want to have a slightly different experience.

see instructions above for what to do with it, The album ID thing is completely normal and by design. Once an ID in the database is used it can not be used again. That is how autonumber fields in a database work.
As far as not being able to delete images... Are you by chance using ASP.NET to show dynamic thumbnails... Because if you are you must turn that feature off and wait 20 minutes or so (maybe more) before you will be able to delete any of the images. It is because the current version of the ASP.NET script used to make the thumbnails locks the images on the server temporarily anytime it creates a thumbnail.
It is a known issue... and there is no fix at the moment other than what I told you above.

, I have been using this solution for over a year now and think its great, however I recently logged on to add a banner and when I clciked on the link that opens a window, displaying all the gifs in the directory../images/banners/, now images showed up, however they do exist in that directory.
I recently upgraded my computer and am now using windows XP...could that be the problem?

the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?

I am encountering a problem with items showing up. When I click on a category and then select an item to view I get
THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER ACTIVE
DO NOT CONTACT THIS USER AS THIS ITEM HAS BEEN TURNED OFF
OR THE USER HAS SOLD THE ITEM.
I have verified the item has the item_active check. For giggles, I even unchecked with the same results.

, ok, so from your PM Iknow you are using SQL server with IIS5.
You say you created the SQL database using the provided scripts and that is good.
What is going on may just be a weird odbc issue that sometimes happens on IIS5 when using SQL server and I have an idea on how to remedy it.

either should always work but under certain scenariois only one or the other works, The company is called Eschelon - there customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I have contacted them again and they said that they require the account holder to manage permissions, they won't make changes. I wish they would have told me that a week ago when I asked them about changing the permissions. They haven't responded to me yet how I am to do that though.
Frontpage ext. are not installed.
Once I hear back from them about how I connect to manage rights I should be all set.

, I have tried everything to get your CJWSoft code working..I purchased the auto listings software and I am stumped, and actually you stumped my hosting provider, my database is stored in the database directory on the root.
I have even tried your ASPtest and still cannot connect. One more questions for you. is there a way to make sure that all the thumbnails are the same size without distorting the images (in the thumbnails). Or if a picture's height is bigger than its width is there to create the thumbnail such that the height of the orginal becomes the width of the thumbnails and vice versa.
Basically I just want the thumbnail pictures to be in a perfect row with all the picture heights the same and all the pic width the same.

, OK, I updated the server with the SP 8 Jet updates and this had no effect.
Then I loaded the asptest file and put in the correct path. The results were:

I wanted to see if you had any suggestions for converting from Access to SQL sever database. I attempted this earlier today performing the following steps.
1) Create SQL Tables using Enterprise Manager / SQL Scripts
2) Use DTS to move all of the existing table data to the sql tables.
3) Update dataconn_inc.asp to use SQL and the required connection string.
When these steps were complete I was able to login to ASPProtect as an admin and search / find both groups and users. However, any attempt to edit or create users resulted in a "the page ... had a problem ... " type problem. It seems that I can read from the db fine but and getting errors writing to the tables. The user id that is being used to connect to the db is the [dbo].
Any additional hints for this procedure?

Try the uploading using VBSCRIPT method just for the heck of it. Perhaps there is an issue with the installation of the dundas component.

, There is also an option in asp photo gallery pro to store the images original filename in the description field which is pretty cool.
Ibulc client bulk upload support currently only works with the pure vbscript upload or the safileup component. (I may support the other two components asp photo gallery can use but it really depends on time) The pure vbscript upload code I am using for this is much better than the code I was using before so that method should be offer decent performance for anyone though using a component is always better.
I still have to add the ibulc feature to the users side. It currently all only works for an admin user.
The whole process is very cool. You install the ibulc client on you computer. It's tiny, and free for uploading up to 10 (100kb) pictures at once. You have to by a domain license from them to do more than 10. Anyway.. it lets you select multiple pictures off your hard drive and it then uploads them all at once with individual progress info for each picture. Its really cool and since it really treats each picture as an individual upload it doesn't hammer the server with one big upload at once.
I also made it so you can start the picture uploads at any picture number.
So if you already have pictures in an album you can add more without losing what is already there.
This was one of the main features of the new version and now that it is working hopefully I can tie up any loose ends and get the new version out soon.

If it was working and you changed code you could have possible messed up how all of that works... you may need to revert back and be really careful as you make changes testing every step of the way.

Accounts will automatically get activated after payment.
We actually do not tell you to put nothing in the PayPal system for the IPN URL. Something has to be there or PayPal will not let you enable IPN. We actually tell you in you PayPal settings to turn on IPN and make up an IPN url because something has to go there. (I think we suggested making a blank asp page on you're site to send it to) It really doesn't matter where you send that but it might as well be a valid page on your site to avoid any 404 errors in your logs when a non ASPProtect payment comes in.
You see, we dont set that IPN url set in the PayPal system because each ASPProtect signup script directory (single payment and subcription) uses it own IPN url and that all gets set on the fly by the aspprotect system. There is a way to overide the defaul IPN url is what I am saying.
Also:
A lot of people already have something there and we didn't want the ASPProtect system to interfere with things they already had going on.
