Blog Entry: 3/25/2006 1:47:12 PM
I am running Windows 2000 server. I do believe asp.net IS installed as I have the .NET 1.1 framework installed.
Funny about the bounce backs. I am at about 10% of my limit, which I control as I am the network admin. I'll check into that.
, When I enter www.vickerylightning.com/aspgallery/dataconn_inc.asp on the screen it says "Not a valid bookmark"
as far as that goes I have no idea.. I have never seen that message before but you are not suppose to run that page by itself regardless.. it is an include file not meant to run on its own
,
I downloaded the skins, ftp'd them to the skins folder and can see them in the list of available skins. No matter which one I try to apply it keeps solid_color_black.

, Looks great. I can't wait until this will be released. Will there also be an easy way to migrate my current version ?

, Chris,
2Checkout.com has added to their required cart parameters:
https://www.2checkout.com/documentation/newparameters.html
Do you have a version of 2checkout2.asp that will support these?
Thanks,
Nick
,
Yes.
Now its OK
Thanks Christopher
, One month later, things are running very smoothly. Color me "satisfied customer"!
, Really awesome, thanks..
If possible please be sure to respond to the email they send so the review ends up authenticated
, You do not say something like that in a support forum for a legitimate software product. I don't think piracy is funny in the least bit. It is something I deal with every day with my own software. If you want to joke about it please do it someplace else. If you are downloading things via p2p do not talk about here. I don't want to know about it period., I am having an issue with the Thumbnailing process. My host does not support ASPImage so I have to use something called asp thumbnailer which is similar to ASPImage. I am trying to modify the Dundas upload to automatically reduce the images to create thumbnails. I ripped out the asp image code and replaced with the bottom. The main issue I believe is grabbing the image files. I am not sure how to name the actual image file that is already uploaded by the dundas upload. the code is below:
The peices in red are where the issue is I believe. What you see below is my attempt to identify the exact image and then rename it tthumbnail. My optimal solution would be to take the picture, resize it and rename it exactly what it was named before.
Any ideas
Thanks

, ahhh ok.. I was going to wait till morning to answer this one..
glad ya figured it out
, Of course ASP.NET is and HAS been installed. I have been running asp.net scripts for years on it. I am not new to asp.net nor setting up the server or anything. ASP.NET is properly installed and works perfectly.
You are missing the fact i mentioned it is a DOMAIN CONTROLLER.
I have come across MANY articles ONLINE via GOOGLE that mention if it is a domain controller, for some reason the aspnet account is not there or gets deleted.
IN ITS PLACE GOES THE IIS_WPG ACCOUNT. IS YOUR SOFTWARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS ACCOUNT?
Is it possible to run ASP.NET scripts without ASP.NET not being installed? Because I have been running asp.net pages without any problem.
, (Password Expiration Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This Advanced Mod requires decent knowledge of Databases and working with ASP. I originally wrote something like this for a customer on a custom project. I then took the time to re-write all the code from scratch so it could easily be plugged in to the current version of ASPProtect as an option. All in all this mod took me over 15 hours of time to develop and will save you a ton of time & money if you were planning on writing something like this on your own. Some parts of this were so difficult to get working that I would never have written this code if I was not paid to do so. (The encrypted array that rotates through the last 12 passwords was quite frustrating to get working)

The price on this is 19.95. I am not incorporating this into the base product because it makes things more complicated and isn't for everyone.
Purchase Page
Security is a big concern and making your users change their password every so often is a good idea. Keeping track of previous passwords they used and making them choose something they haven't used before takes the concept even further.
This Mod will add a password expiration date to the application. When the password expiration date is hit the user must confirm their old password as well as pick a new one before they can log in again.
There is a new password expiration directory where they must choose a new password that has not been used before. The new password must be confirmed during this process. (It remembers 12 old passwords the way it is coded) The old passwords are stored in the database in an encrypted array.
Directions:
Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
Add two new fields to the "ASPP_Users" table in your database.
For an MSAccess Database
Password_Expiration_Date (Date_Time Field)
PreviousPasswords (Memo Field)
For a MSSQL Database
Password_Expiration_Date (smalldatetime)
PreviousPasswords (nvarchar 160 characters)
once that is done
Copy all the new ".asp" pages into your site.
Edit the "PasswordExpirationURL" variable in the "check_user_inc.asp" file
It needs to be the full URL to to the "change_password/default.asp" file
Now edit the "change_password/processchange.asp" file
There are 3 variables you can edit.
PageSentToAfter = "http://localhost/aspprotectmods/password_admin/default.asp"
PassMinLength = 4
PassMaxLength = 8
The "PageSentToAfter" is where you want them sent to after they change the password. It can be whatever you like.
If it is a protected page they should automatically get logged in with the new password they just changed to which is nice.
The other two values should be obvious.
That's it...
Just remember the password change thing is not used in the admin area...
You could easily add code for that on your own though by looking at the the password expiration code I added to the publics "check_user_inc.asp" file
Also:
You will see a new field to edit on the user edit screen for the Password Expiration of course. , humm, yea thats a data connection error..
really not related to the asp code in the application for the most part.
that is low level
If using MSACCESS
I would make sure permissions are set correctly on the database folder (not just the database file itself)
I would make sure your using at least a 2000 version of the database. 2003-2003 format being better..
I would make sure the server has up to date mdac/odbc drivers.. (that is really the server admins responsibility)
As for permissions there are articles in our forums about exactly how they need to be set. Improper permissions can cause a ton of random errors like that.
cwilliams38414.6528240741, MSACCESS 2000
server: windows
option pack: yes (after the install I have this problems with groups and edit users )
host permissions: yes
MESSAGGE:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP0113' Script time out/password_admin/groups.asp The maximum amount of the time for a script to execute was exceeded. ...
vaghelis38300.5484143519, I am attempting to have the page dedirect from the group, as some of my users are part of different and multiple groups (they are not structured in access levels, b/c they cannot be part of multiple levels(?)). So I think I need to redirect by group. I am having trouble having this work correctly.

, I will give you permission to move it since you asked., In addition to that I just noticed the </href> you have in there.. man that is some scary stuff you came up with.. that may appear to work and make a link but it is not correct. Each link will work but never truly be closed.
That is just not valid proper use of the anchor tag.
You make a link in html like so
<a href = "somepage.htm">somepage.htm</a>
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_a.asp
Then your surrounding each link with <span lang="en-us"> </span>
Not sure why ?
, To be honest I just can't remember what happens. It has been a long time since I did a real live test of that. I know it seemed like a pretty smooth process to me. Right now I can not test it out as I am on a road trip with my motorcycle and I am sending this email from my PDA.
I would ask Dave at this website.
http://www.davephoenix.com/
Or via this username in the forums
PhoenixUK
He can tell you what happens as he has been using the IPN stuff for about a month now.
Perhaps another user could chime in here as well and let us know. I know there are a lot of people using the IPN stuff.
, Your going to have a lot of problems and a lot of the code will have to be re-written.
There are a lot of things in the the code that the MYSQL database system does not support or has issues with . I know because I once made a version of ASPBanner work with MYSQL and it took weeks of work to get it stable.
Null field types can cause problems... but mostly ADO updates which I don't think MYSQL supports at all. All of the ADO stuff would have have to be rewritten.. etc etc
That's probably why you cant get much of the code to write to the database.
Here is a generic example.
An update to an existing record using ADO
http://www.powerasp.com/content/database/ado_update.asp
And update to an existing record using an update query.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/database/using_update.asp
All through the the code the ADO updates would have to converted to update queries which means a lot of work.
I used ADO a lot because I like it and it is little easier to validate data before it is written to the database.
It is also a little easier for customers to understand when they look at the code.
Anyway....
The app just was not designed to work with MYSQL.
It was specifically designed to work with MSSQL and MSACCESS only.
This holds true for all of our applications.
Your running off an IIS 5 Server so I would suggest just using MSACCESS as the database. The Photo Gallery app will run very well using MSACCESS.
, Editing the look of the login page.
In this version editing the look of the login page is very easy.
You can make this login page look exactly like you web site if you like.
You want to edit the "scripts/login_form_inc.asp" file.
It can be edited with any editor as long as the existing bits of server side code in it and the login form remain in tact.
The best thing to do is back it up before you start editing it.
Then if you goof it up you can revert back to the original.
If you edit this page with FrontPage enable the "show all" feature.
Its the little PIE sign in your icons. It will show the server side code as yellow things on the screen so you know where they are and can be careful not to delete them.
see screenshot

cwilliams38459.9616087963, Even if I try to upload the test file that was included with the system I still get the same error.
My host is using Windows 2003 Server.
Will send you a private email to see if the issues can be sorted out.
Thanks
, That is by design and how it is designed to function.
There is no easy way to do what you are asking about.
Can it be done ?, sure!!
But it is a lot of custom coding to sort it all out and not something we support.
If I were you I would simply edit the login box screen to show some hyperlinks and options should a person need to use them. , SQL server hotel ehh ? Humm that sounds bad whatever that is ?
Is that a real term or just something you named it cause they have like a zillion people using that SQL server? I have never heard of that name ?, Are there any problems with modifying the default database fields.
I need to have an update from net billing and they use different settings in the database than the default.
Will the interface still be functional?
, Well Chris:
I logged off too soon after your last response. Your last idea was the answer. I am running McAfee as my virus-scanner on the mail server I am running. There was a script inhibitor enabled as a worm detection function. When I disabled it, your software responded correctly. I guess I can do without that, although with everything thrown at the net these days, it makes me a little nervous.
Thanks
, Ok, have contacted the web hosts. Thank you for your help so far
Regards
Andy
, The redirection at 1st login feature is supposed to work like I explain in this thread.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo385-1.htm
Though what you just said is a bit confusing it sounds like you have some sort of browser problem and it is doing the redirect every single time. ?
I would suggest reseting all your browser settings to normal and making sure cookies are enabled because forms based authentication uses session variables and cookies must be enabled for session variables to work correctly. If not something like this could happen as the redirection at 1st login would happen over and over every time.
So try it on other computers and try with firefox as well as IE. Many people go nuts with their browser settings and way too much stuff blocked which can cuse all sorts of issues. Also some script blocking and firewall software can cause problems so disable all of that when testing.
You may also have created some sort of endless loop. (I really need to know way more information on what you did to know that for sure)
You may also want to consider doing your redirects manually meaning you protect a a page and right after the protection you use regular ASP redirect statements to redirect the user whevever you like based on their session info which is available to easily check immediatly after someone gets through the authentication.
I still stand behind my statements that redirection is not good site design. You really really need to understand and plan your ASP pages as well as have a very good understanding of the session and how all of that works if you use redirection with a password authentication scenario. You should never be redirecting someone to an ".htm" pages except during testing because you wont be able to stop users who are not supposed to go there from going there directly.
, do you have the smtp part of iis installed on your machine
cdonts needs that
then again I am not sure you can even use cdonts on a xp box without making some changes...
cdonts has kinds died out and as of windows 2000 basically got replaces by cdosys
, this error really does not mean anything specific
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
If you get an error its real weird that the file is being uploaded.
Generally if you get an error during upload it is because of one of these 3 things
Invalid physical path specified
Unsupported upload method chosen
Permissions
See my article on XP and permissions
http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_xp_pro_and_permi ssions.asp
many people dont do their permissions right on XP Pro and that article covers everything
, The only major usability issue I've found to date is multi-zone banners. Cloning is helpful to a point, but then if you have a change to that banner, you have to make the change 6 times or what have you. I think, even at the expense of speed, multi-zone capability for a single banner would be excellent addition. Of course, that supposes I haven't just missed it and it's already there.
can add photo album but after i upload a pic, nothing shows.
That appears to have fixed it!!! Thanks alot for your patience, I will never question your brilliance (or customer service) again! Where do I write you a smashing review?
thats not good.. its a web server configuration issue of some sorts ?
post is a common method for forms.. if it is not supported it is something you should ask the server admins about.
Is this a windows based web server running true microsoft ASP because that error is usally associated with non windows IIS based web servers from what I can see by doing a google search ?
ASPProtect only runs on windows servers running IIS and True Microsoft ASP.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo165-1.htm
My guess is your web server is running Apache Unix or something like that.
, I'm happy after changing to XML parser for two of the ads. Later I'll change the other codes to XML, never to use iframe again!
, thx..
