(Indemnification Agreement Mod)
This very simple mod will add an Indemnification Agreement Pop-up to the registration signup form which must be agreed to before continuing. This is often done for legal reasons to help cover yourself if something should come up later on.

Instructions:
Download 2006-03-19_212700_Indemnification_Agreement_Mod.zip which contains "terms.js" and put it in your scripts folder. It contains the text that will be displayed in the pop-up. You can of course carefully edit it with a text editor to say whatever you like.
Now carefully edit "users/register.asp" with a text editor. Add this bit of code in blue right after the include to the "footer_inc.asp" file like so. It will be near the bottom of the page.
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="footer_inc.asp"-->
<% If ErrorMessage = "" Then %>
<script language="JavaScript" src="../scripts/terms.js">
</script>
<% End If %>
Your done, that's it. Now when "users/register.asp" is run for the 1st time the pop-up will come up.
, They send an email?
Hope my spam killer didn't zap it...
,
Great Thank you!
As of thus far the program is working rather nicely.
I am very impressed :)
, How can I make so it goes to certain webpages if user enters valid username and password??
I suppose user enters its information on check_user_inc.asp page, and username and password are stored on SQL database.
Thanks
, I believe I'm having trouble with Domain masking in that it appears to affect the ASP Photo Gallery login screen.
My address is forwarded and masked by my domain "company" (in this case: Godaddy.com). It is forwarded to a Win2000 Server running at my static home IP.
From outside of my network, the website appears to work fine...even the default.asp page works to the point of the login page. After entering a login and password - you hit the login button and the page simply reloads only with all of the header and footer information removed.
I found that by eliminating the domain masking feature at the domain company, the problem gets eliminated and the entrie site works fine.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm guessing it's the way the domain name is held in the browser cache but I'm not sure how to resolve it so that the ASPPhotoGallery scripts and pointers work correctly.

epeterson38365.6397569444, The webpage header for CJWSoft states "Web Development for Win NT/2000 servers" - a little dated cause it works just fine on 2003 too, right? :), import/export feature WARNING !!
I just want to warn everyone that the built in import/export feature can be a little dangerous.
The reason being is when you import users they get new "Users_ID"s in the database.
The "User_ID" field is an autonumber field and that is why and there is nothing you can do about it.
So, if you are using a user's current "User_ID" to keep track up something important NEVER export the users and re-import them. Because their "User_ID" will change and you will be in trouble.
The PayPal signup features of ASPProtect actually use the "User_ID" like this and that is the main reason this warning is here.
now, that being said
If you are importing new users into ASPProtect
or
simply exporting existing users to another system
then this is nothing to worry about.
Basically, the moral of this story is dont think of the built in Import/Export feature as backup system because it is not. It is not a substistute for backing up your database.
It is a just a tool that can come in handy for various things.
cwilliams38425.0597685185, Chris,
D'oh! How completely obvious!
I got it now. (In Step 4, by the way, you need to click on the web site, not the directory. The directory has its own Properties menu, which is competely different than the Properties menu for the web site.)
Thanks for the fast response!
Robert
, Christopher,
Thank you again Sir. Your quick responses and helpful demeanor add greatly to the value of your software.
, I think I have successfully integrated Paypal but seem to have a slight
issue. Once a person has entered the Paypal site but cancels their
order, the ad is still placed on the site. The optimal way for my site
to work would be to cancel the ad once the Paypal process has been
cancelled. Any help would be great.
Thanks
, The version of aspbanner you have should not matter.
What you are doing here is wrong.
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE=" http://www.innovationtools.com/aspbanner/aspbanner/banner_re direct.asp?Banner_ID=25">
PARAM NAME=movie is supposed to link to your ".swf" file.
And thats why all you see is black.
I don't think you quite understood all of that information fully.
Your ".swf" files needs to be coded in FLASH to link to the aspbanner redirect url. You don't change that flash calling code like that.
The ".swf" file links to the aspbanner redirect url which tracks the click and then redirects the user to the Link URL
You basically need to code your ".swf" flash file to go to that aspbanner URL or code your flash file so it can take a parameter for the url it clicks to (like the macromedia article talks about. This has to be done when editing the flash file in the flash editor before the file is saved.
If you dont have access to the original ".swf" to edit it and re-save it.. your out of luck as far as tracking clicks goes
, "get_me_in.asp" just hangs during a new install. Nothing happens no matter how long you wait and IIS may temporarily hang up as well.
You may very well be running something like norton antivirus with norton script blocker on your server? Or something similar?
It can cause issues when ASP uses the filesystem object and cause never ending page hangs like you are having.
Read this..
http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2180, 1st: try it with a normal dsn-less connection like we show in the example.. dont use that OLEDB.4.0 connection string.. connecting like that can cause a lot of problems and is not as great as everyone thinks it is and it can sometimes be difficult to get it working when the database has a password set on it
For the sake of troubleshooting just connect like so: (fixing the path of course)
ConnectionString = "DBQ=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspprotect\data\database\ASPProtect_ access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp"
ASPProtect will generate the actual connection string you should use when you run this page
http://www.mysite.com/data/setup_info.asp
Replacing the part in blue with your website info.
2nd: any IIS server setup to have the access database over the network path like that has a poor setup... and that can cause all sorts of problems as well, access is not designed to run over the network like that.. for more on that read this thread - Start 5 posts down
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=479&KW =OLEDB%2E4%2E0
3rd: If the app does not run using the connection string like I say to use then the problem is 100% on their end and is either related to permissions or the fact they are keeping the access database on a network path which is BAD BAD BAD... no quality host that knew what they are doing would set it up that way.. ultimately you don't want to host asp with a place that has a setup like that
4th: If you want to try some other stuff out we have a free guestbook, asptest, and a free version of aspbanner you can try out as well... www.cjwsoft.com
5th: If you need a quality asp host that knows what they are doing and offers great asp support www.alentus.com is the place
6th: Your right, it is not the code, its the data connection
, who knows, thanks for your input, I am further than I was when I started talking to you!, Right, I've done that. My concern is that it will time out again while I'm trying to import the file.
The import/export manager does not show up under the users tab when I log in normally. I have to pull up the page in frontpage and then preview it a browser to get it to show.
, I would look on the pictures folder on the server and see what is there for pictures. Also, when you see a broken X on the site right click and see where it is trying to get the picture from and what the pictures name should be.
I would also be sure to clear out your temporary internet files in IE. clost and restart all browsers..
maybe show me the site ? so I can see this happening ?
cwilliams38348.9748726852, I am using ASPProtect's password program, which has been very successful, for managing over 1,500 military veterans' memberships at http://www.vspa.com. What I am trying to do now is utilize the "Groups" code, as generated by the Admin page, to prevent members with expired accounts (and non-members) from accessing restricted "members only" .ASP pages they may have bookmarked, or found via web search. The code generated and used is as follows:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!-- Begin ASPProtect Code -->
<!-- Groups with access to this page. ( * ADMIN * Member Current * Member Life * Officer/Staff * ) -->
<% GROUPACCESS = "10,12,14,19" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<!-- End ASPProtect Code -->
The above is placed over the <html><head> statements on the page.
When I am logged in the code works perfectly! When I log off and try the URL again, the page appears in its entirety but with a Login box for Username and Login Password at the top of the page. You may view the problem at: http://www.vspa.com/aspprotect/vspa-password-enter.asp .
What I would like to have happen is expired members and non-members would be sent (or Redirected) to a Login page. I do not want the Login password box to merely be inserted above the page that I am trying to keep them from visiting.

, You really should just look at the documentation that came with the application. It tells you everything you need to know.
it is in the docs folder in html format.. it is also linked to from the aspclassifieds website
http://www.aspclassifieds.com/demo/docs/
, I'am in the process of modifing registration and tieing in paypal. When I get live I will send you a link. Thanks for help.
John
, My Admin user got corupted, and I need to reset the password and user, what is the defualt password for this database, as I do not think I have changes this (hopefully) as of yet.

Hints & Tips when working with ASP
http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/common_sense.asp
cwilliams38436.5949768519, Glad it is working.. for anyone reading this the customer bascially did this
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36& PN=1
That being said asp photo gallery actually has a few more places that send email that you going to need to modify as well. Off hand the reply to album, admin massemail, admin send email,and postcard features come to mind possibly as 3 of them.
using a multiple file search and replace utility like ReplaceEm would be the easy way to do all of this in one step and find all the instances
http://www.orbit.org/replace/
cwilliams38420.4424537037, This may be an old question ??? If it is please point me to the post or documentation where I can find the answer please.
When creating protected pages I am using the following to protect them:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="/aspprotect/check_user_inc.asp"-->
But that is not working. I get the following error when I try to access the members logon page in the directory that I wish to add the pages to:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0130'
Invalid File attribute
/filelocation/filename.asp, line 3
File attribute '/aspprotect/check_user_inc.asp' cannot start with forward slash or back slash.
However if I create the pages in the root of the AspProtect directory and use a link to the same page that exists in the AspProtect directory and the following include:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
The pages work fine.
I really do not want to put all of my protected pages in the root of the AspProtect directory.
I would like to mix protected and unprotected pages throughout the site in order to #1 make it easier to administer. #2 keep the AspProtect directory solely for authentication. And, #3 keep any user authentication pages out of the AspProtect directory.
TIA

, Are you aware ASP can run on any machine running win95/95,2000,xp pro, 2003. You really should test all asp code locally before running it on live servers but anyway... that is your deal
I am not sure if memory alone will be enough for that server but it could help. I saw a decent amount of free memory when I looked. Its just about an 8-10 year old system on every aspect (processer,OS,Hard drives, memory etc etc) and not only that something is tasking the heck out of the resources left over for asp database access. Something is just wrong. I don't know what it is but I am pretty sure it is not aspprotect. I got rid of my last nt 4 server about 4-5 years ago but the application always ran great on NT and I still have some customers using NT 4. Not many though.
if you email me the import file and the encryption keys you are using I will make a database for you.. just zip it up and send it to chris-cjwsoft.com
replace - with @ , Yup everything looks ok - but why no error?
This just gets better - now the email a friend link says sent successfully and doesn't send out - what the heck...
What would cause it to 'think' it is doing the task yet still fail?
, i was only kidding!!
,
I pull that crap on myself once and a while... or my
favorite is leaving a bootable CD in the drive and then wondering why the heck
the OS doesn’t come back up. I pretty much promised myself back in 2002 that I
would never mess with anything minor after 10PM. For whatever reason I always
start messing around trying to "fix" something and end up sorry...
Granted if it’s an emergency I am all for it, but I get dresses in advance
anticipating the practically inevitable drive down to the datacenter.
Good luck with that, I am sure you will be much better off
in the long run.
, no, there is not not.
If you wanted to to that you would have to add some code to check their album count in the database and not allow them to make a new album if they were at the limit.
cwilliams38433.0233680556, I posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry.
I have installed ASPProtect on a client's website and I have been
notified that some of their customers have been unable to login to the
protected pages.
On testing it seems that the issues seem to be related to how cookies are being stored by IE 6.
ASPProtect is being used to protect particular template files within a
Content Mangement System. 90% of the time it is working fine but on the
odd occassion particular cutomers are unabe to login.
After quite a bit of testing I have managed to find the scenario in
which it starts to have problems and was hoping you may be able to
provide a solution.
If a customer enters the wrong password, then reenters the correct
username and password, they receive a message "template can not be
found" from the Content Management System. This message is generated
when a url is entered that contains a link to a template file that does
not exist. In this case the template does exist. If I remove the
ASPProtect code the page opens without error.
Everytime they re-enter the details they receive the same message.
If they close down the browser and then reenter the correct details in some instances the page will open correctly.
More often than not, they have to delete cookies and temporary files
and close the browser. This seems to fix the problem again for
most users. For users who's web access is heavily cached by an internal
server, even this does not work.
Have you come across this problem before and can you suggest a remedy.
If you can email me privately I can give you the URL and access codes.
Thanks,
Stuart
, If the physical path isnt right and the permissions are not right it just plain will not work. You will not get an error.
If the filesystem object is disabled on the webserver it will not work either.
Something has to be wrong.
Please start a new thread when the topic changes.. thanks
It helps to keep the forums organized for other users in the future.
cwilliams38454.6146180556, Terribly sorry, but we are not software-technical. So can you please tell us exactly which folder the database would be in.
Thanks in advance.
, Larry,
I have a new computer up and running and am back on the Internet full time. I am here to help when you are ready to continue with this.
I went to your site to look around and "try it" like you mentioned but I can not really try anything as the admin username/password seems to be something other than the default
, We have no add-ons for anything but accepting payments through paypal and 2checkout... if you want to accept payments through some other setup you have make a payment directory addon and write code to do it based on the system you are using..
We provide the ASP source code so that is doable for someone that is good with ASP. If not then it won't be doable.
, I did all that you sugessted and all failed, you said "I did a sign up.. your verify URL is not saved/set in the application variables. is this somthing I can change manually? below are the steps I performed......
1 - made sure the web is it's own application in IIS
2 - Reset IIS in command promt
3 - Restarted the server, the only thing is I have not waited perhaps long enough for it to kick in. but it should have with the restart.
I am running windows 2003 on the front end with wondows 2003 and Exchange 2003 on the back end, is there anything else that may be causing this issure?
Thank you!
Matt...
, What other information do you have ?
Details are very important.
Info on situations where it works... like OS, browser version.. etc etc
Info on situations where it does not work... same stuff
size of the PDF files ?
server info ?
Maybe protect a page and offer a PDF file so myself and some of the forum users can try it and report back what happens.
Also, Many people zip up PDF files when letting people download them as browsers can act pretty odd at times with them. Perhaps that is an option.
, Banners no longer show up on my site ?
If banners were working fine and now they are just not showing up.
1st check to see that you are calling a valid zone with live banners in it.
If you are then most likely this it what hapened.
The web server must have crashed or lost power and now the application variables are in limbo/not working.
I have seen this happen a few times.
Basically the application variable system gets messed up because it was not shut down properly.
The way to cure it is as follows.
Edit and save a banner in the system. Hopefully that gets things going again.
If this happens a lot it is a server issue, not ASPBanner's fault.
cwilliams38415.0978935185, If you have an album with more than 96 pictures, the spacing in the tables can become incorrect, with pictures touching each other. (This program is not designed to handle more than 96 pictures due to server speed, but it can handle more than 96 with minor changes to the code.) Also, after 96 pictures, the pictures will not have 6 on a line, but rather 6 on a line up to 96 pictures and then the rest of the pictures on one line next to each other extending to the right of the screen endlessly. To fix this, I simply edited the ASP code using the following loop. It can be a perminent fix, because I used the maxpicsperalbum variable to define the spacing.
<%
Dim SixInterval
For SixInterval = 2 to maxpicsperalbum
SixInterval = SixInterval + 5
%>
<% If PicIndex = SixInterval THEN %>
</tr>
<tr>
<% End If %>
<% Next %>
Then, the following code must be commented out:
<% If PicIndex = 6 or PicIndex = 12 or PicIndex = 18 or PicIndex = 24 or PicIndex = 30 or PicIndex = 36 or PicIndex = 42 or PicIndex = 48 or PicIndex = 54 or PicIndex = 60 or PicIndex = 66 or PicIndex = 72 or PicIndex = 78 or PicIndex = 84 or PicIndex = 90 or PicIndex = 96 Then %>
</tr>
<tr>
<% End If %>
This code can be found in scripts/view_album_style*STYLE NUMBER*_inc.asp . (STYLE NUMBER depending on which style you are using (found in config file))
This change in code will enter a new table row after each 6th picture. You can have more or less than 6 pictures per line depending on the width of your files and preference by changing changing the number 5 in this line of code: SixInterval = SixInterval + 5
If you have any questions, JPortnoy@Checkernet.com
jamapor38210.5987384259, Your actually confusing me with the whole "joe bloe" thing and user access. I just do not get what you are trying to tell me. Perhaps you can explain in a less confusing way. Your just not technically explaining it andand thats what I need to know to possibly help.
As for the subweb thing you just can not do that. Subwebs have their own sets of application and session variables. An ASPProtect installation and any pages you protect with it are required to be in the same "application" in IIS. Sicne subwebs have their own "applications" in IIS that won't work. It is the nature of "forms based authentication" A sub web is alo considered by our licensing to be a seperate web site and ASPProtect is licensed per web site.
As for breaking pages.. you really shouldnt be editing any pages in the admin area as you will break them unles you are very good with ASP. (does not sound like you are..no offense meant at all)
Pages in the "users" folder are less complex and it is usually ok to edit them carefully.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/common_sense.asp
Pages of your own that you password protect can still be edited in your usualy way though without effecting anything.
Truth is if you back things up before you start editing how can you go wrong ? That's how you learn.
, After taking another look at this and trying your suggestions without success, it appears that in Windows 2003 server it is nearly impossible to remove the READ ONLY attribute from the _database folder. I'm wonder if this could the cause?
Thanks
, the txt file is only lke 624 kb...so I'm not sure,
