Can I copy the file into the export folder and then the import user function?, did you read what this thread says about that session variable for groups not be created by default
you have to add code so it sgets created before you can check it... this thread talks about that,
They send an email?
Hope my spam killer didn't zap it...
, I am trying to protect and ASP page written in Javascript. The first part of the page goes:
<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT"%>
<!--#include file="../Connections/connWINGAP.asp" -->
When I insert the aspprotect code it looks like this:
<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT"%>
<!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/GIS/WCGIS/GISProtect/check_user_inc.asp"-->
<!--#include file="../Connections/connWINGAP.asp" -->
and I get this error:
Microsoft JScript compilation error '800a03f7'
Unterminated string constant
/GIS/WCGIS/GISProtect/check_user_inc.asp, line 2
I think I understand that your code is written in VBscript and that is why it is not working. If this is the case, how can I switch to VB to execute your stuff then switch back?
Thanks,
Jess
, When using the ASPProtect admin panel. My firewall software is going crazy or Blocking it on the Mass E-Mail, Newsletter, and other pages.
Here are some of the messages:
[Unauthorized Access Attempt] This signatures detects an attempt by a web server to deliver a malicious HTML page to a browser client, in an
[Suspicious Activity] This signature detects HTML documents attempting to spoof a link destination in the browser's status bar.
I am using Black Ice...
Will users also get this kind of activity from the pages ??? Or is it only because of using the Admin Interface of the software ???
Thanks
, no, that system only works with ASP.NET code.
Currently it can not possibly work with classic asp.
PayPal made it a nightmare to use and work with.
Special things regarding the signing of digital certificates also need to be installed on the web server so if it isn't your server your also out of luck.
, I would like to create a login form on the home page which will not be password protected to the site for members so that they can login right from the home page and not a password protected page like many sites have. And every portal I have seen.
Plus the login form looks really pretty and proffesional on the home page
...
I can't find anything in the documentation that says how to do this or if it's even possible. Everything I have found says to password protect a page and then direct them there which isn't what I would like to do.
Here is the code of the login page which is an asp include file on the main page:

Does anybody know what values I would put in the form to send the correct login to AspProtect. And, if I would have to add any extra includes or code to it.
TIA
, Now I am having trouble using the log function.
I have checked the box in administration area for UseLogFiles. I have put the expected path for the LogFileDirectory in the box. I have modified the permissions for the anonymous web site user to modify this directory. However the log file does not get updated and there is nothing when I go to view the logs.
thx
, Glad your getting the hang of it.
no difference as far as that goes. It is just different ways to reference the server side include file and it's location on the server cwilliams38457.6019675926, Things have now changed I found out godaddy has persitis aspUPload and aspjpeg as value added products, I have the aspjpeg working but have been unable to upload when using aspUPload, everything works fine with the vbscript method so I think my permissions are correct. Whenever you get a chance, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
, you can not limit image size using the pure code upload method. Its not possible using a pure asp method that I know of.
You would have to be using one the supported commercial upload components and edit the upload code accordinly to limit upload sizes (you would do this by looking through their documentation and samples) I didnt include any support for upload file size limitations with the supported 3rd party upload components because in my testing I found it problematic with all but aspupload from persits software. (I have example coe for that component I can provide that limits the upload size and seems to do it well) I am sure it could work with safileup and dundas as well but I gave up trying.
As for image resizing..
Image resizing requires the use of one of the supported 3rd party image resizing components. You didnt mention if you are using one or not. If you dont have one available image resizing is just not possible as asp can not do that on its own.
, These are 4 valid examples of calling a flash movie.
The more simple examples may cause problems for people that don't have the flash plugin installed. I really do not know as I am no flash expert. All these work fine for me. Of course I have the latest flash plugin installed. Perhaps some of you can shed some light in this. The 3rd and 4rth examples are obviously only slightly different and mention different versions of flash as far as downloading the plugin goes.

cwilliams38089.6129513889, I am trying to find out where I can enter the ttle for the application.
There is a variableor field called App_Name into which it would be good to insert a generic name. Can this be edited?
I have searched high and low but cannot find anything to do with it.
, This is the error that I am getting when I try to add a banner...
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e09'
EXECUTE permission denied on object 'sp_ASPBanner_GetZones', database

/aspbanner/appinfo_inc.asp, line 67
also, when i go to the banners tab i see this in the banner list...
(3 Banners Found)
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '='.
/aspbanner/banners.asp, line 306
Help., I dont know about the unspecified errors. I really need more detailed information. (Since it has been working fine for quite a long time you might want to consider installaing the application from scracth again and see if you still get errors)
As for the log in not persiting. Did you by chance turn off cookies in your browser ? They are required for forms based authentication to function. Otherwise, yes you would need to log in to each and every page as you moved around.
cwilliams38414.6054166667, You do not say something like that in a support forum for a legitimate software product. I don't think piracy is funny in the least bit. It is something I deal with every day with my own software. If you want to joke about it please do it someplace else. If you are downloading things via p2p do not talk about here. I don't want to know about it period., I believe I'm having trouble with Domain masking in that it appears to affect the ASP Photo Gallery login screen.
My address is forwarded and masked by my domain "company" (in this case: Godaddy.com). It is forwarded to a Win2000 Server running at my static home IP.
From outside of my network, the website appears to work fine...even the default.asp page works to the point of the login page. After entering a login and password - you hit the login button and the page simply reloads only with all of the header and footer information removed.
I found that by eliminating the domain masking feature at the domain company, the problem gets eliminated and the entrie site works fine.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm guessing it's the way the domain name is held in the browser cache but I'm not sure how to resolve it so that the ASPPhotoGallery scripts and pointers work correctly.
Eric
epeterson38365.6397569444, Can you incorporate a secure log in within the scripting. I would like the account information to be secure without having to have the whole site using running through a secure (https://) path. If this is possible, the scripting is perfect!
, btw: who is this hosting company anyway ?
and did they give you access to a control panel that lets you manage your site ? sometimes that is where you manage those permissions if their interface supports it
lastly, are frontpage extensions installed in your web so it can be connected to via frontpage ?
, Installed latest verison Doesn't seem to have corrected problem. Still with same message. I wonder if deleting this user and putting him back in might help. I have not however tried any other user names and passwords.
, OK, thanks.., Hello- I am trying to install the ASPPROTECT product and tried to read all the docs but still am getting the following error:
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x1980 Thread 0x1458 DBC 0x223c374 Jet'.
I understand about the physical path for the DSN-less connection and followed the example given. I got in touch with tech support for the host of my site and the give me the following as a physical path:
c:\sites\Single20\laptv1\database
Some observations:
1.- The database directory is outside the root dir but I think I am accounting for it with the path
2.- The permissions are ok
Any ideas?
Thanks
FP
, I assumed when it said "expected path" that it understand that was the default and unless I wanted it in a different directory I could leave that blank. I'm checking on it now., I down loaded your latest ASPProtect.NET_v1.4 and now when i try to get in the admin area it won't let me in. The admin box is selected in the database under the admin user and i can update my user information (password and Address, not username). Is there something that was changed on this version or is it more likely user error on my part? What do you think i should try first?, ok, here is what is going on
you are password protecting an ".asp" page that requires querystring info to run correctly (example - "somepage.asp?ID=3"")
that is something I never intended anyone to do.. while it does handle and repass the querystring info along during successful login it does not re-pass that info during a failed login as you have found out
this is all by design.. the only reason the system re-passes the querystring info at all is because I wanted to make it smart for the sake of the remember me/cookie feature.. so if someone was using that and bookmarked a page deep in your site with querstring info...then when they went back to that bookmark they would get authenticated and still see the page as intended with the querystring info in tact
it was a nice feature never intended to handle any situations other than what I just described...
now...
notice the url in the browser after failing a login.. then logging in successfully.. it is missing the querystring info
that more than anything is what is going on.. browser caching can cause some confusion when dealing with this because the browser likes to return you to the page minus the querstring info... when that happens a simple browser refresh at that time may very well solve the problem and then you see the page you are supposed to see...
To avoid all of this...
One solution to this is to always start people logging in to an ".asp" page that has no querystring info. That way this won't happen. Once they are logged in you can then offer them links to the pages they need to go to. (you of course still want to password protect those pages)
Another solution is to log them into a page with no querystring info and then do a response.redirect to the page with quersytring info.. thus accomplishing the same thing but without the possibility of the issue because of a failed login.
Another solutions is to do checks in your asp page for missing querstring info.. and if it isn't there do something about it like send them somewhere else.. or display a message about there being an error... etc etc
So,basically you don't want to tell people to login into such and such page with querstring info... and providing a username and password..... You can do it but like you found out it can cause an error if they mess up logging in the 1st time. The system just was not designed to handle that. There are complex reasons for that involving security that would just take me too long to explain.
I hope this makes some sense to you.. it is very hard to try and explain
, I think I've found the problem..
The password "abcdefgh" works
The password "abcdefghi" does not
(username "ace45")
Passwords can obviously only contain up to and including 8 characters... By some coincidence I only used short passwords with MS Access.
, humm, those are some very big images to be starting off with but I am not sure that would cause a problem under the importing scenario
what width are you having the system resize them to ?
What happens when you upload a image manually (one a t a time)
Also, try the import process out with some pictures no bigger than say 1024 and lets see what happens
, Hello,
In that version is is not easy to change the values as they were not intended to be edited. You would have to dig through quite a lot of code as those values are hardcoded in quite a few pages. Probably at least 10 or more.
In the pro version there are variables you can change that very easily as that is intended to be easily changed in that version.
, SQL server hotel ehh ? Humm that sounds bad whatever that is ?
Is that a real term or just something you named it cause they have like a zillion people using that SQL server? I have never heard of that name ?, Actually it would because you would just count records for that user that are also active
and yes, users cant delete albums.. they can only turn them off which really means the albums lose their active status
only the admin can truly delete an album the way the code is
(that's just the way I did it for some reason.. I don't remember why)
cwilliams38433.0343865741, ummm.. ok.. Then this doesnt make sense. On two out of the three machines I have in house here, the images do not show up. They only show up on the server machine. I am using the constant url on all three machines. www.rfamilystuff.com Does it show up on your?

cwilliams38291.6121296296, That's because when the page rebuilds, it uses the default number of
users per page setting. You'd have to modify that default setting to
have it do things differently. I used to have mine set to 500
users, until I got past 300... then it wasn't fun to show all users on
the page anymore. I now like 10 per page and searching for
specific users as needed.
But that's me. If you hack a COPY of your default.asp file (with the
original backed up as above), you can get the value set to one you
prefer.
If you want me to find the value, post and I'll look for it later on.
If you want to find it yourself, happy hunting! Just be sure to have a
backup in case you do the wrongest thing possible in your haxxoring.
, To be honest I just can't remember what happens. It has been a long time since I did a real live test of that. I know it seemed like a pretty smooth process to me. Right now I can not test it out as I am on a road trip with my motorcycle and I am sending this email from my PDA.
I would ask Dave at this website.

Or via this username in the forums
PhoenixUK
He can tell you what happens as he has been using the IPN stuff for about a month now.
Perhaps another user could chime in here as well and let us know. I know there are a lot of people using the IPN stuff.
, Is there a limit to how many access levels the program has? We were thinking of having a different access level for each client that logs on our site so we can customize their web experience. We see 6 in one place of the program, 8 in another, but is there any reason why we couldn't make 100 more?
Thanks again for the help!
, thx for posting this..
Just a few notes... more than 100 pictures specified in the config file is not supported. You are of course on your own if you specify more than 100
Also, technically the post above should say more than 102 pictures... "I think" as you wont need more html cell code until then..
The loop in the code is probably how I should have done it in the 1st place but I was in a hurry to get this finished and I also never expected/wanted anyone to specify more than 100 pics per album.
Lastly.. depending on what style you are using in the config file the code above may not work as some of the styles do not use cells but line breaks instead.. At least from what I remember.
cwilliams38306.7506481481, need more info..
are you using aspimage to resize images and make true thumbnails..
(because if you have it turned on and it isnt actually installed on the server you will get broken thumbnails.)
what kind of images are you using ? gif or jpegs
are you uploading images over existing images ?
really need to know exactly what to do to reproduce the situation from scratch and then I can give you a better answer ??
cwilliams38348.7894097222, Just wanted to let you know that after modifying the remote host string in the email pages and getting the correct connection from my server, everything is running fine.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation.
thank you
adam
, i downloaded the latest version. i also downloaded the sql script provided and ran in sql query analyser to create the tables.
After that i ran a special page to intially get into the system,
then setup a new user, then make them an admin,
and after that i logged out and again when i try to login iam not able to login. When i check the ASpp_User table I noticed that the values in the fields "Login_limit" and "Active" in the ASPP_Users table in the SQL changed to NULL and 0. But if the value are Nulls or 0 it means it's not active and it's not allowing me to login.
Pls advice
