Our login works great, variables even help determine menu options. When user logs on, however, it opens in a new page. Is there a setting somewhere that sets whether you can open in a new or existing page?
Also, when you log off , I do not really know a lot about but it is basically code that lets you specify however many number of images and links... and then display a certain number of them at once.
You'd have to search google for it.. there are 1000 of sites that offer free javascript code and that is where you find scripts like that.
You could certainly set up all the images and links for each banner in aspbanner but if you used them with code like that you be limited to tracking clicks on banners. Tracking page impressions would not be possible because the javascript would be handling what images get displayed at any given time. Basically each link for each image would be going through aspbanners tracking url feeding it the banner id and therefore tracking the click and sending the user to the desirec URL.
Regardless, it is not something I would support. You would have to sort it out as it is nothing ASPBanner was designed to do and not something I want to deal with because client side javascript code is not something I am NOT very good with. ,
If it stopped working it has nothing to do with the ASP code. YIf could have stopped for any number of reasons as hosts often change email server requirements and info. You need to go over the email settings. Of course make sure you and the person you are sending to have valid email addresses and try different methods/settings until you get emailing to work again.
Testing it by sending emails off from the users screen.. in each email type in what you are trying at that time so you know what worked if emails make it through. Also, be sure to check junk filters when testing to make sure the emails are not being put in any of those.
That's what I would do. CDOSYS is always your best bet for sending emails as it has so many options and all new server support it. , Does ASPprotect support Paypal's Website Payments Pro option, where a user can use a credit card directly on a web site, without passing to paypal.com?
Nick , I just started using ASPJpeg, and i used the
"generate_new_thumbnails.asp" to create new thumbs of all of the
existing albums. It generates the thumbs just fine, but they
don't get picked up by the "Randomly Selected Photo" section. If
I upload new pics, they will show up in the random photo area.
So, it reads the new upload thumbs, but not the newly generated ones using your .asp page.
Is there anything I can do?
, Lastly, I put there information here to help, but please don't ask me any questions about it.
I am not microsoft SQL server support. If this doesn't work for you simply start troubleshooting and doing google searches like I do. , On second thought guys, it would must easier to change the code using modulus as follows:
<% If PicIndex mod 6 = 0 THEN %> </tr> <tr> <% End If %>
This will end each row and create a new row after each 6th picture. It'll be must easier code to work with and change. This code must be placed in the PicIndex For Loop.
If you have any questions, JPortnoy@Checkernet.com , yeah.. thats an old graphic probably only seen in a few places.
it is not on the main site http://www.cjwsoft.com/ or here http://www.aspprotect.com/ or here http://www.aspbanner.com/ or here http://www.aspclassifieds.com/ or here http://www.aspphotogallery.com/
but I am sure there are a couple of pages left over still using it like the aspvendor and asplistings pages.. etc I am aware of it, just been too busy to go change them and I didn't consider it a big deal
2003 servers are NT based anyway , Hello,
I think you’ll definitely like aspbanner. It's very easy to setup and use and it should work great with your portal.
You’ll have banners rotating in no time. All you have to do is add banner calling code in your pages where you want the banners to show. There are enough methods that you will definitely find a few that work well for you.
BTW, there are actually 7 methods now as we have a new one. Information about it can be found in our ASPBanner support forums cwilliams38455.9049884259, I am not sure totally understand your question. I need you to explain it differently.
Any ".asp" page that is protected is going to automatically prompt them for a login box or log them in automatically depending on if they set that option.. In the end returning them to that same page.
So, it really all takes care of itself for the most part.. It doesn't even matter if the bookmark a protected page deep in your site. The system is smart enough to keep them at that page as well as handle their access.
Now of course if they are at an unprotected page of your site and navigate to a protected page they get a loin prompt or are allowed in if they already logged in...
Also.. when you say unprotected page ? do you mean ".htm" or ".asp" cwilliams38298.6571759259, nice idea. id be interested to see your modifications for ideas, Upgrade from V6 to v7.x with an MSSQL SERVER DATABASE
1st of all, backup your existing ASPProtect files and database before performing this upgrade. Please be really careful while performing this upgrade. Version 7.x is a highly advanced application compared to any previous versions. CJWSoft under no circumstances is responsible if you lose information or have website downtime.
BOTTOM LINE: (PERFORM THIS UPGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK)
To do this upgrade you're going to need to have SQL Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer
That being said, on with the upgrade..
Open your SQL database in SQL Enterprise Manager
Regarding the following Tables
Rename "Users" to "ASPP_Users" Rename "Groups" to "ASPP_Groups"
If you do not have a "Groups" table do not worry about it right now.
Now right click and DELETE the Config Table. Yes, delete it..
Now, go into Design View for the "ASPP_Users" Table.
Rename the "Password" field to "Old_Password" Be sure to spell it perfectly using the Underscore
If you have a "Groups" Field... leave it alone If you do not have a "Groups" Field add one and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 255.
Now, we are going to add a few more new fields.
Add a field called "Redirection_URL" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 150. Add a field called "PayPal_Subscriber_ID" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100. Add a field called "Newsletter" and make it a "bit" field Add a field called "Password" and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100.
Now close that window and save the changes..
Download these scripts. 2005-02-23_171110_aspprotect_v7_sql_upgrade_scripts.zip
Now open up SQL Query Analyzer Connect to your SQL server.
Then load the script "aspprotect_v7_config_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer. Click the green play button at the top. If everything goes well the response should read something like this.
****************************************************** (1 row(s) affected) ******************************************************
Now, if you had a Groups Table your done with the database changes.
If you didnt have a groups table.
Then load the script "aspprotect_v7_groups_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer. Click the green play button at the top.
Now, go back to your database in Enterprise Manager and make sure all 3 tables are there and look ok. You might need to do a refresh or two to see them.
Now make sure an existing or new SQL user has (public / datareader / datawriter) permissions for all three tables. You reference this user in the asp code connection string so this user must be set up correctly. You may need your SQL server admins or hosting company to help you on this step as you may not have access to do this. You may not need to create a user and set permissions as the sql user you were logged in as to use query analyzer may by default get the correct permissions on anything you create.
Regardless, as you can see from this screenshot I have a SQL user called "aspprotectuser" and proceeded to set the permissions for that user. Under database access giving him (public, datareader, and datewriter permissions).

Now, you are done upgrading your SQL Server Database.
The existing passwords still have to be encrytped and moved from the "Old_Password" to the "Password" field
To that we have a special page we run in the application that will take care of that.
So, for now... go install the application, but using the database we just created. Follow these instructions for the most part... http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=181& ; ;PN=1
When you get to the part where you finally get into the admin area and need to make an admin account you will notice that your existing user database is there but none of the users have passwords if you look at them in the edit screen.
That is normal. Simply do what the instructions say and create and admin account using a username that does not exist..
Then log off... then back in as that new admin account. If that works you are ready to convert the passwords.
This part is very easy.
You want to run a special page via the browser.
http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp
Replacing the part in blue with your website info.
Once you get the page running you will see a login prompt and one form field just like before with the "get_me_in.asp" page
You will need to paste the "PasswordEncryptionKey" value that you used in the "config_inc.asp" file in the form field and hit enter.
If all goes well you will see a page telling you to click here to encrypt the passwords and copy them over.
So do what it says... dont click more than once and wait.
Eventually it should say it is finished. So go log in to the admin area of the system using the new admin account.
Now edit some users but dont save... you want to see if the passwords are showing up. If they are the conversion worked. If you see nothing or a garbled mess it did not work and you made a mistake during this whole process.
If things went well backup and delete the conversion file below.
http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp
You do not need it anymore.
Once you are positive every thing is running smoothly and everyone's passwords are ok you can go in and delete the "Old_Password" field as well.
If things didnt go well.. try again from scratch and go slowly. If they still dont go well get ahold of us for help.
We are here to help, but if you really want us to we can be hired to do the conversion. , not really, aside from looking in paypal and manually adding each one for each user...
how many users are we talking about anyway ?
and were any of the users new sign ups from scratch because if they were and that field didnt get populated that is weird?
ultimately aspprotect does not use that field. I was just storing it for the sake of storing it... so its not a big deal but I would still like to figure out what is going on
removing the expiration dates from paypal subscripbers will be enough to fix the issue your having about them getting the expiration notifications , like I said you made changes to something to cause that...
users/user_area.asp
runs fine the way it ships "it is one of things I tested earlier when I looked at your installation for you"
If you want I'll go look via FTP and tell you what is wrong cwilliams38456.1069212963, Thank you so much that works great.
I will test with the other settings on the email server again thanks for the advice,
best regards , I have just purchased ASP v7 and loaded. Followed instructions. Obtained codes not prob. Get to single field login screen, enter password and following page appears:
Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /temp/aspprotect/password_admin/get_me_in.asp.
Added folder aspprotect under (temp web) folder - temp, but also tried under root folder of web site.
Still no luck.
Apache/1.3.27 Server at www.didac.co.uk Port 80, Sorry, not really.. not without a lot of changes to the code. the recent activity info recycles.. it is not meant to be day by day
My suggestion there would be to look at both the log files and the user activty screens...
, when did you puchase/download the application? you may have old code., Attached is a SQL script to create the ASPProtect Database with the Option Pack Changes already applied. This lets you create the database in one step and you wont have to make the option pack changes as they are already there.
This only applies to people using MSSQL and doing a new installation.
This scripts are run via SQL Enterprise Manager.
You make a new database then run this script on it in query manager.
2004-06-14_180056_aspprotect_w_option_pack.zip cwilliams38152.7522569444, cool.. let see if that works. This was the command line that I had to enter in order for it to register. Chris, as you stated before, you can try one of the other emailers, but you need a email server to tie to.
"regsvr32 cdonts.dll" , Hi Chris,
I tried changing using Notepad in the config_inc.asp
from:
If Application("SERVER_SOFTWARE") = "" Then Application("SERVER_SOFTWARE") = Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_SOFTWARE") End If
To
Application("SERVER_SOFTWARE") = "iis/6"
and the albums still do not show up under the categories
Rhona (rookie)
, do you want my help making the database with your import file ?, I tried the iFrame method that you have shown, and it works great!!!!, Hello,
I have ASPprotect 7 installed on my remote server. I am able to go to the examples/default.asp page and login in without any difficulties. If I copy the code from that page and paste it in a new page called the same thing but in a different folder, I get this error; (Keep in mind that this is essentially the same exact page in a different location of the website)
Error Type: Active Server Pages, ASP 0126 (0x80004005) The include file '../../check_user_inc.asp' was not found. /aspprotect/Pages/default.asp, line 3
I get the same error if I paste the "protection code" I have generated into the top of a current (.asp) page in my site.
Basically, the only pages that work are the ones that came with the program as examples. Thats great, but now I need to make it work for my pages. Any thoughts?
, Parent Paths ?
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5&P N=1
, Thanks very much for the tip. I'm a beginner with all this stuff so forgive me for the inate stupidity!
By the way, I think the system is great and I am very pleased my purchase. cwilliams38317.5552662037, ok... lets forget about all this redirecting business for a minute
when I go to "GP01.asp" directly via your web site I get a big nasty error that says this
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/protect/config_inc.asp, line 15 Dim Address_Required,CDONTS_Installed,City_Required,Registration _Type,VerifyURL,Log_Off_Page
----^
then when I look at what you did in that file I see why
you have this code which is totally wrong because you cannot include the password protection file twice <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
it should be <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> and that is probably the root of this entire problem.. the redirection was working... but you were sending them to invalid pages with errors
all those pages are wrong... if you dont see the real error above see this http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo11-1.htm
if you look over the aspprotect 7 installation instructions that is the very 1st thing I tell people to do
hopefully this is the info you need to continue and get some work done , Upgrade from V6 to v7.x with an MSACCESS DATABASE
To do this upgrade you're going to need to have the Microsoft Access Application. To work with an Access .mdb file it can not be newer than the version of Microsoft Access you are running.
That being said, on with the upgrade..
Open you're existing Acccess Database up in Microsoft Access.. You should see this something like this.

By right clicking on then choosing rename Rename "Users" to "ASPP_Users" Rename "Groups" to "ASPP_Groups"
If you do not have a "Groups" table do not worry about it right now.
Now right click and DELETE the Config Table. Yes, delete it..
You should now see this. (with or without the "Groups" table)

Now, right click on "ASPP_Users" and go into design view. It should look like this.

Rename the "Password" field to "Old_Password" Be sure to spell it perfectly using the Underscore It will look like this.

Now scroll down to the bottom a bit It should look like this.

Now..
If you have a "Groups" Field... leave it alone If you do not have a "Groups" Field add one and make it a memo field.
Now, we are going to add a few more new fields.
Add a field called "Redirection_URL" make it a "text" field with 150 field size Add a field called "PayPal_Subscriber_ID" make it a "text" field with 100 field size Add a field called "Newsletter" and make it a yes/no field Add a field called "Password" and make it a "text" field with 100 field size
It should now look like this. (you do not need to worry about the field descriptions.. that part is optional and only seen when working on the database)

Now close that window and save the changes..
Your now going to open up another Access Database while still leaving the one you have on your screen open. You going to open up one of the new databases that came with v7.x. This database has some info we are simply going to copy and paste.
You'll want to open it and put it side by side on your desktop like so. (the old database is on the left.. the new one is on the right)

Now, for the fun part.
On the new database to the right.. right click on the "ASPP_Config" table and pick "Copy"
Then move your mouse over to the old database on the left. Right click in the open white area and click "paste"
It will ask you for a database name. Type in "ASPP_Config" Leave "Structure and Data" checked and hit OK
Your old database on the left should now have a nice new "ASPP_Config" table.
OK, now for the "ASPP_Groups" table
If you already have a "ASPP_Groups" table in your old database you are done.
If you do not have one your going to copy and paste the table from the New Database to your old database just like we just did with the "ASPP_config" table.
Your old database should now look like this.

Now, you are done upgrading your database from within Microsoft Access.
The existing passwords still have to be encrytped and moved from the "Old_Password" to the "Password" field

However, in the last few days my site was taking too long to load, so I replaced the AspHttp component, with Javascript method. The site was back to speed. But now, the Google Adsense banners do not show up. Is there a solution for that? Can the Javascript show Adsense banners also? Because they do show the Flash banners., Hello,
Sorry No, there is not.
not the way the code ships.. The program keeps tracks of everything by the way it ranames files. The system has been tested to work well with as many as 10,000 images files. Any more than that and you need something a little more serious meant for that amount of images.
You could certainly modify it do work that way if you are good with source code. There are actually as many drawbacks as doing doing it that way as there are advantages. Take Care
, I am up to speed on how it works. My goal was to not have just a link to a protected page- so that when a user clicks it they get the "access denied" screen and then have to log in. My goal was to avoid that if possible by having them log in and then redirected to the protected page.
So this isnt possible? The only way for it to work is for a user to click a link to the protected page, get the denied screen, then login and be redirected?
Or is there another way..?
I made my point by rebuttling your "cafepress" with agreeing "YES" that is what i want... now you are changing this around on me. I dont think i can be ANY clearer in what i intend to do. It is extremely clear and i am not sure why its becoming more than it should be. I just want the user to be able to log in from ANY PAGE ON THE WEBSITE AND THEN BE REDIRECTED TO THE PROTECTED PAGE IF THE HAVE THE PROPER CREDENTIALS. It would be nice if this software gave an error message when an incorrect username/password was entered instead of simply refreshing the screen. , in the version you have changing it is not something we covered
I believe you will find it the "config_inc.asp" file in the root though... be careful with naming it though because if you use any spaces or weird characters it might cause issues with various functions in the application like emailing.. I recommend just using letter, numbers, and maybe dashes
, Please Note : ASPProtect v7.x has a new feature called groups that is much more powerful than access levels. Access Levels were left in the product primarily for existing customers that upgrade to the new version so they do not need to make a lot of changes to their site if they were using Access Levels.
More On Access Levels
Again, Examples of managing Access Levels are provided in the "multiple_access_levels" folder included in the root of the Password System. Look at the source code of the ASP pages in that folder with a text editor to see the working code.
Access Levels and how they work can be re-coded to work in many different ways. However, you have to be a good ASP developer to make changes to it. Here is some information on how they work by default.
In the "check_user_inc.asp" that comes in the root of this system Access Levels work as follows.
Level 1 has Access to - Level 1 Level 2 has Access to - Level 1,2 Level 3 has Access to - Level 1,2,3 Level 4 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4 Level 5 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5 Level 6 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6 Level 7 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Level 8 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ADMIN has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,ADMIN
Here is some additional info..
If the access levels are too restrictive you can ignore them all together and create your own totally custom solutions. Here is a quick rundown of some of the things you can do.
Ok... so if you want to be really specific about what each user can see and can't .. here's an example of what you can do
Don't use the access levels before the include file.. Don't worry about what you set a user to in the admin area since the access levels won't be used.
Do something like this..
Every time a user logs in session variables are set that you can access at any time.. thus allowing you to know who they are.
So you could do something like this...
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<% If Session("USERNAME") = "bob1267" or Session("USERNAME") = "carl45" or Session("ADMIN") = "True" Then Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "Yes" Else Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "No" Response.Redirect(Request.ServerVariables("script_name")) End If %>
The following URL explains what Redirects are. http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/redirects.asp
That would in effect create totally custom access levels.. but you would have to do it manually for each user.
You can also do things like this after a person logs in
Show custom html to any specific user based on either their username or access level ... like so
say there was a menu and a certain link should only show up to username "paully67"
you could do something like this
<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE></TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY>
<br> <a href="main.asp">Home Page</a> <% If Session("USERNAME") = "paully67" Then %> <br> <a href="paullys_page.asp">Pauls Stats Page</a> <% End If %> <br> <a href="links.asp">Links Page</a>
</BODY> </HTML>
Or you can show custom HTML or links based on Access Levels or any other info.
You can do just about anything with if-then statements and using the built in vbscript functions..
Hopefully this info will help to give you some ideas...
Bottom line is you have to do some work within your site to make the Access Level system really come alive. cwilliams38403.6781481481, Is there any update to this ?, I am in process of upgrading from v6 to v7. I have made database changes, can connect to database and get in to Administration area just fine. However when I go to create a new user I get the following error
ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cc1'
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
/password_admin/save.asp, line 227
Thanks
, Excellent
Thanks, the DESC addition did the trick!
- Jason , Banners no longer show up on my site ?
If banners were working fine and now they are just not showing up. 1st check to see that you are calling a valid zone with live banners in it. If you are then most likely this it what hapened.
The web server must have crashed or lost power and now the application variables are in limbo/not working.
I have seen this happen a few times.
Basically the application variable system gets messed up because it was not shut down properlly.
The way to cure it are as follows.
Edit and save a banner in the system. Hopefully that gets things going again.
, did you read what this thread says about that session variable for groups not be created by default
you have to add code so it sgets created before you can check it... this thread talks about that, You know what, you really are frigin goofy to say you might think we
didn't write the software. I got source code to the license dll as well
as about 12 revisions of the application sitting on my development
server as well as about 1200 emails between John & Myself as we
worked on it. Not to mention all those .vb files that come with the
application. What do you think those are ? I bet you don't even really
know based on something you said in one of your earlier forum posts.
Did you even read this cause this is YOU... !!! http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo234-1.htm And we say right on the ASPProtect.NET product page to read that article before making a purchase.
Moving
on... it basically says on the site ASPProtect.NET works the way
it is shown to work. You can use it that way or you can further edit
the code with Visual Studio.NET. If you are so good with asp.net then
you should be editing the code to work differently or writing your own
authentication that works exactly how you want it to. End of story. You
keep arguing about things your done... you are so done !!! I won't keep
putting up with you., Chris-
That appears to have fixed it!!! Thanks alot for your patience, I will never question your brilliance (or customer service) again! Where do I write you a smashing review?
Thanks!
