As an update to this thread I fixed the "upload_post.asp" page quite some time ago but forgot to post the updated file here.
So here it is.

Quick question. I'm currently using navigation style 1 which
keeps everything within the 1 window. I'd like to take the text
descriptions and place them under the main photo when it is
displayed. Before i modify anything, I'd like to check if I'm in
the right neighborhood first. It looks like I need to:
- modify the behaviour of the 'onmouseover' function in the file 'view_album_style_1.asp'
- add in a few lines of code to take
FixStr(UserArray1(PicIndex - 1),"PrepareForJavaScript"), put it into a
text string and do a response.write under (or over) the photo in
question.
Question Part 2 -- if i wanted to use the first line of the description as a title could I:
- add in an input to the photo upload
- concatenate the 2 strings together (title and description)
- display the title under the thumbs
- bold the display of the title over the large version of the image.
Pretty complicated questions, but I'm coming along nicely (IMHO). Have a look at

Hey, I thought I'd share this tip with the ASPProtect community...
If you'd like to remove, modify, or add fields to the "Users" view in
the password_admin default.asp page, it's really easy to do. Well, at
least it was for me. I'm using an MS Access database, by the way.
For me, I don't need "Company" info, but I do need last access and # of
times accessed displayed. Therefore, I had to change the default page
in three areas:
In /password_admin/default.asp, go to about line 185 or so, where you see stuff like:

OK, those are the column headings. Each one corresponds to a column
from your USERS table in your database. There are two more areas to
consider, both of which appear immediately after this section.
The next section has statements that look like this:

See the "First_Name" items? The first is for an ascending sort, the
second for a descending. This particular line corresponds to the code
snippet immediately above it. But all this does is handle the sorting.
For the actual data, look lower for this stuff:

It's a good ways down, so don't be impatient if you don't see it in 10
lines from the end of the last mentioned section. This stuff handles
the display of the data from the database (where else ya gonna get
data, anyway?)...
Now, to remove a field, you need to find the three sets that go with
that data. The ascending/descending sort is potentially the trickiest,
because it's the longest set of data and can take a number of lines.
Just clear it from the start td to the end /td and you'll be fine.
To *add* a field, copy and paste the code from an existing field and
modify it. In the first one, the column title, you can type whatever
you want to describe your info. Nobody but you and your admins will see
it. For the next two sections, though, you need to get the correct
column heading from the USERS table and use that to correct the lines
in the copied code you pasted in.
For example, when I added a column to show the number of times a user
logged in, I copied the above snippets and pasted them in where I felt
the column I needed should be. Then, in the first one, I changed "First
Name" to "Logins". In the ascending/descending snippet, I changed
First_Name to Counter. Same for the last snippet.
The result? A new column, showing the number of logins my users were successful with.
Of course, before you experiment, back up your existing default.asp file, JUST IN CASE.

, I had a question about user registration and how it works, mainly because I am having a problem.
When a user registers, with the email verification setting, I am assuming that there is supposed to be a new record created in the USERS table in the database. What could cause this not to happen?
Actually, in testing further I found that with the setting at Auto, Manual, or email, the record is not added to the table. And, if I am logged in as admin, the Add User button does not do anything.
I can however edit and delete user records...
Hmmm, adding a Category yields the same thing. And loggin in as a non-admin user still displays some of the menu items for admin, but then gives a page can not be found error if you click on one (ie, approve).
This looks like a db issue to me, I will have to try this with access and on a test server...
Any thoughts?

cwilliams38303.8507291667, All can say right now is take a break and get away from it for a bit. All your going to do is stress yourself out more if you keep working on it.
There is probably a way to make it work but it may require days of fiddling around and reading articles and trying things and even then you may not get it working AND THEN ITS JUST A BAD IDEA ANYWAY. Like John says you are better off running it on a server that is not a domain controller. , Ok nevermind that... i got by that wasn't paying attention...
The problem is even before this which i didn't know until now.
I placed the protect tag in a page i called members.aspx
When i go to this page is says ACCESS DENIED etc etc etc.
When i go to login to view this page i get the error..which i DIDNT know because i assumed it was working. This is the error im getting:

btw it says /map because that is the subfolder within the root folder , We can't seem to find the purchase emails for this install of ASPProtect.

Unfortuantely I can not help you much regarding the javascript because I am a server side code kinda guy. Client side javascript just isn't my thing. That was free javascript code that I used for that function. I really do not know enough about editing client javascript. Sounds like you might though.
Style 1 is really a relic left over from the standard version. I just left it in in case someone wanted to use it. Like I said because it is javascript making it do more than it does is tricky (at least for me)
Now,, for actually getting description code. The thing to do is check out how that all works in the pic_window.asp file which is what style 2 two uses. Bascially descriptions for an particular album get stored in one text file. We read that test file. Put the lines into an array. Then display the info which gets run through a functions to convert some special characters used when saving back to normal.

to a protected ".asp" page use code like this.
Change the action of the form to the page you want them to log into.
Make sure the page you send them to is protected by the "check_user_inc.asp" file.

Now I need to know... how can I automate PayPal subscriptions and purchases? I'd like it so that once PayPal gets its money, my accounts get marked active.
Now, the documentation on this site currently says, to point the IPN post action to a null page. Yet, I see an IPN.asp in my files for PayPal subs and PayPal purchases... Looking over the code there, I see actions to make accounts active and stuff like that. Is the page ready for prime time, or should I hold off for a new version?

And you run your other version of ASPListiings in its own folder with its own application in IIS. Connected to its own database.
You will have zero major changes to make to anything... other than what you did above..
But remember theyare the same app and share a lot of thing including sessions and application variables.. that is why if they are installed in the same domain each one needs its own application set in the IIS console so they run seperately of one another. cwilliams38312.5189814815, Chris,

Nick , With ASPVendor you must use the SQL scripts we provide with the SQL Version to create the SQL database or else fields will not get set correctly.
I wish you would have told me you were using SQL server. It's important details like that that allow me to help and troubleshoot. , Not a problem. Have a good time at your wedding.

Is there any free products that work with Gallery that will create the thumbnails? If not can I create them on my own and link them to the pics? There are tons of Perl based freebies out there.

Now when I tried to register, it seems like it goes to the next page, but it is blank.

Allison , it is an email server/setting issue most likely
your email server probably requires outgoing authentication or something like that and that is why internal emails can be sent to but nothing else

/guestbook/save.asp, line 109 , Those access levels are not used and are nothing to worry about. They are left over from the ASPProtect core which I used for the users area of ASPBanner.
I am not sure what you did but its not a none, Unless I know more I can not make any guesses what happened. I would make sure in the database that the user is active and the expiration date field for them if there is one is empty, Regarding hosting companies..
Now.. obviously if you are hosting on someone elses server you may not be able to set permissions like this.
Ultimately, if you are hosting somewhere and ASP and Database connectivity is part of your hosting plan. It is the hosting company's responsibility to set these permissions for you when asked or to give you a special interface to do so on your own. If they are not helping you do this then maybe it is time to get a hosting company that is serious about your ASP Hosting Needs.
Also... JUST TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR
The permissions we are talking about cannot be set via FTP or Frontpage access to your web site. They must be set like shown above or via a special interface meant to set the permissions correctly. For all you people out there messing with the permissions you see in FTP and Frontpage.. you are wasting your time and possibly creating problems in your web.
All ASP scripts that communicate with an Access Database, Upload Pictures, Modify Text files.... are going to need these permissions set in some way or another. While there is no option in the admin area / asp code we give you here is what I can tell you.
You have the source code and we also use an open database structure. (MSAccess or MSSQL) So that means you can really run any query you want on the database whether with ASP code or directly in your database. You can even tie other systems and code into the database via OBDC and manipulate data. The sky is the limit.
In MSSQL you can run queries in SQL enterprise manager or query analyzer. Using Access you can run queries in query view.
It's really not that hard if you do some research on SQL Statements and how to use them. You can do some very powerful queries and save yourself a lot of time. , Chris -
Sorry, I am looking at your code on view_item.asp and I have noticed that you are calling 3 variable; start_date, end_date, and image_url that do not exist in the databases that you provided. Do I have the updated package for ASPVendor?

the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?

I will PM you the latest download with the updated files. , ok, the no concurrent login feature is based on IP addresses.. if you logged in again using the same IP address it would let you in regardless. So for example if you were behind a rhome router and logged in to a site on the internet it would nt matter if you had multiple computers at home because they would all have the same external IP address... etc etc
In other words it is tricky to correctly test..
I really need more detailed info on everything going on. I real world scenarios there are no issues with that feature that I know of. At least according to customers so far. , i downloaded the latest version. i also downloaded the sql script provided and ran in sql query analyser to create the tables.
After that i ran a special page to intially get into the system,
then setup a new user, then make them an admin,
and after that i logged out and again when i try to login iam not able to login. When i check the ASpp_User table I noticed that the values in the fields "Login_limit" and "Active" in the ASPP_Users table in the SQL changed to NULL and 0. But if the value are Nulls or 0 it means it's not active and it's not allowing me to login.

, expiration dates are not used in aspprotect's database when signing someone up using PayPal subscriptions because the PayPal system keeps track of all of that and will automatically send posts to the approtect system if a user needs to be deactivated for not paying or for whatever reason.
As you will notice in that thread about subscriptions the paypal signup data you use for the person determines their membership pricing and details..

What about individual gallery permissions. So only 1 member can post in only 1 gallery. I have a forum of 500 plus members so if they want to add a gallery than setting a permission would be idea for each gallery. ,
