do you have the smtp part of iis installed on your machine
cdonts needs that
then again I am not sure you can even use cdonts on a xp box without making some changes...
cdonts has kinds died out and as of windows 2000 basically got replaces by cdosys
, When using this code:
<!------- ASPBanner Ad code ------------->
<script language="JavaScript"> var code = '';
var now = new Date();
var nIndex = now.getTime();
document.write('<s' + 'cript src=" http://www.poconocommuter.com/aspbanner/injectbanner.asp?Ban nerZone=6&nocache=' + nIndex + '">');
document.write('</' + 's' + 'cript>');
</script>
<script language="JavaScript">document.write(jscode);</script& gt;
<!--------- End ASPBanner Ad code --------------->
I receive an error that jscode is undefined. The banner will not display.
Any ideas how to fix this?
,
its a text file you just edit it with notepad.. if ya mess it up ya put an original copy back in
no biggie either way
jump in there..
I just showed ya exactly what to change.. its a no brainer man
This is simple source code. It's meant to be edited and hacked.
The only reason I warn you is so you can't blame me later on if it effects something
I am just trying to help
If ya dont like that solution why not just use periods for the first name field.. or a dash or something... then nobody will really see it
or maybe store the company name in the first_name field
seems like clever things to try without changing the code..
good luck...
cwilliams38326.870474537, Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.
Thanks,
Dave
, Let me put it this way.
My home page (default.asp) is an unprotected page.
When a user that has signed in on another (protected pages) and has the remember me checkbox checked closes the browser cookies should be set for the next time they return.
When the user opens their browser and returns to my home page (default.asp), I'd like to put a message saying:
Welcome back <%Session ("Username")%>
How is this done?
, Parent paths being enabled on the server is a requirement of the application. That error means just what it says.
you can change all the server side includes to virtual includes that will work or you can ask you host to enable parent paths.. those are the options

, Personally, I really wouldnt worry about. Personal Client virus software like that is not really meant to run on servers anyway. That software is meant for client machines, not web servers.
Any Server designed virus product will not incorporate script blocking features because servers often need to run scripts when dealing with ASP, PHP, CFM, etc etc
That article I link to has more on all of that.
Turning that off is nothing to worry about. I been running IIS servers for 8 years. , This article from my old powerasp.com site explains what Server.MapPath is and also why you can't use it to specify the data connection in any of the CJWSoft applications.
Use ASP to determine the Physical Path Of Your Virtual Website
As this article mentions you can still use it to determine the path, but you can't use it in our data connection strings because the data connection page is an include file and server.mappath will report back different paths for the different directories....... meaning it will work in one directory level but not another as the path will be different.
cwilliams38084.7454282407, YES.. you need to edit your SWF file to link to the aspbanner system...
example.. the link may look something like this
http://banserver.powerasp.com/aspbanner/banner_redirect.asp? Banner_ID=60
of course you need to put in the right information for your site and whatever banner ID it is in your system
Like it says above.. if you save the new banner at least once and then come back to edit that link will be generated for you at the bottom of the edit page.
then when your flash banner is clicked on it will go track the click and then send them to the "link_url" specified for that banner when you edited it.
(you need to enter the final destination url there if you want that to work)
, Yes worked fine
thanks
, also.. you could try chaning your connection string to set the current language to english like in this example..
BannerConnectionString = "Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=127.0.0.1;Initial Catalog=aspbanner;User Id=aspbanneruser;Password=temp;Current
Language=English;"
I do not know if that actually works but from what I have been researching it looks valid and it may solve your problem.
Also: The value may need to be Current Language=us_english
You'll have to try them, I already gave execute permissions to the stored procedures and that
cleared up the first error, but the second one I still can't figure out., I'am in the process of modifing registration and tieing in paypal. When I get live I will send you a link. Thanks for help.

, I am an experienced ASP developer. Can you tell me whether this would be a very involved process, or whether it is pretty straightforward? I don't yet have a merchant account, so I am not yet familiar with any aspect of accepting credit cards online.
Thanks.
, All of the fields with the expected paths show the correct file structure, so now I've put them in them in the boxes
, LOL
, in Control_pic.asp is there way to wrap the description field so that it doesn't go outside the table.
Thanks
, Using just ASP (Form Based Authentication) you can only protect the actual content of the ".asp" files.
You can however use some ASP tricks to stream other types of files to the users.
That way the actual file locations are never known and they can only get them/see these files when they are logged in as you would be streaming files to them after they logged in.
Below are informative links I have collected on the subject in an email I sent to another customer a while back.
Using Active Server Pages you can only protect ".asp" pages.
You can however password protect ".asp" pages that stream files to the user using code like in these examples therefore keeping the actual file name a secret.
And from another email I sent...
ASPProtect only protects the content of ".asp" pages. Directory protection is not possible using just ASP.
Other file extensions can not be protected using just ASP.
There are ways to get around this.
You'd want to do a technique like this to stream non ".asp" files to the users.
The safileup component from softartisans can actually do something similar as far as streaming the files go.
Then use something like ASPProtect to protect the ASP files that streams the files.
The actual location of the files is never known to the users and of they don't have access to the asp pages they can not see or get those other types of files.
Very doable, but nothing ASPProtect takes care of automatically.
This info above should get ya on track.
cwilliams38344.8751736111, well, I need more details..
you got SQL server or data connection issues is pretty much the bottom line
If I remember right we went down this road with a SQL setup quite a while back (auguest 2005) and that never really got resolved
here it is
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=321&KW =yiak
, Installing and running NET on a DOMAIN CONTROLLER is a BAD idea period.
Besides the security risks you will have nothing but endless problems
with that setup. Domain controllers ARE NOT and NEVER were intended to
be run as any sort of application server. Your best bet is to run your
asp and asp.net scripts from a member server or one set up just for web
apps. Of course if your in the mood to mess around endlessly it is
possible to make that work, but why would you want to when the prefered
solution is a heck of a lot easier.
, Version 8.1 can work with MySQL
http://www.aspbanner.com/aspbanunlimited_v8.asp
It is just not supported at all.
The standard version can not work with MySQL.
There were a lot of changes to make the new version work with it and I really only did ift because I have a couple friends with busy sites that could only use MySQL.
It sounds like your site is way too busy for using an access database as you mentioned.
, Hi,
You see, an include file is no different then a link to an image or graphic. The path to the include file must of course be valid. That file isn't in the same directory as that page so you get an error.
You simply need to make the call to the include file valid.
See my article on server side includes.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/includes.asp
You should also look at some of the provided example pages and see how the paths to the include files are done.
You can also use a virtual include if you figure out the page for that. See my article for the difference between a file include and a virtual include.
The code generator in the admin area shows examples of both but depending on your site structure the paths may need to be slightly edited.
Server Side Includes are a fundamental part of using ASP and they are used a lot. Once you understand how include files are used you will think it is the simplest thing.

, edited due to inappropriate content
, ok, Also.. if you want to customize each person's experience individually it really does not make sense to use groups or access levels for that purpose alone.
I mean, why bother making a group or access level for every user and worrying about keeping track of it all when you can just access the available session info about the user to create dynamic pages specific to that user.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=198& ; ; ; ;PN=1
That is why that information is there.
You can of course use some combination of the two technologies as well should you have groups of users that you want to have a slightly different experience.
cwilliams38433.6259606481, New question...
When someone edits their personal information, such as address, is there any way to set it so that someone in the office can receive an e-mail noting the changes?
Thanks.
, I need to use SQL for other reasons than efficiency. If I create 2-seperate databases, would there be a lot of code to edit?
Thank you.
Lance
, upgrade pricing is here
http://www.aspbanner.com/purchase_unlimited_v8.1_classic_upg rade.asp
what is different
http://www.aspbanner.com/v8_notes.asp
the changes to make it work with MySQL were vast to say the least
more on that from an old thread
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=37&PN= 1&TPN=1
just please remember use of MySQL is just not supported
http://www.aspbanner.com/mysql.htm
I can assure you it works well as I have people using it
, "save_pic_desc.asp"
in both the admin and users area needs to be edited
You'll see something like this...
If Len(Image_Description) > 250 Then
just change 250 to something higher.. I wouldn't go much over 500 though as it may cause problems.. I am really not sure.. Changing it higher is done at your own risk.
cwilliams38300.5727314815, I am running into problems with the import function. I have 25 photos loaded into the import folder. The page see all of the photos. But after I click on the import process it takes me Picture Manager with no pictures loaded. I have hit the refresh button, but there is nothing there. dr_bones38394.676412037, I am really starting to get the hang of your
software. It seems to me, you have thought of everything a person could
possible want. Before I try to tackle
setting up Pay Pal subscription payments is there really any difference
between a file include and a virtual include statement? Is one more
secure than another?
, I checked the option pack code as well and it looks correct.
I tested it and it acted as it should.
You can see it in active at the live demo
http://www.aspprotect.com/demo3/demo.asp
admin
test
go the the admin area.. you will notice 3 users with level 4 access
1 of them is inactive
then go to the mass email area and pick active and level 4
it will say it is sending email to 2 users which is correct
then go to mass email again and pick level 4 and inactive
it will say it is sending email to 1 user which is correct
choose any status and access level 4 and it will send email to 3 users which is correct
When you do this please realize you can not choose a group as well.
That will cause a problem because you can not choose a group and an access level at the same time.
Anyway... perhaps you can private message or use the contact us form and and let me take a look at your system. Since I can't reproduce the behavior that is the only way we might figure this out.
cwilliams38104.690787037, I have connected to countless DB's using my own applications written in dreamweaver and have tested them on my own server and also my web facing one. BUT this seems to be different. no matter what I try I still get this error.
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x440 Thread 0x6b0 DBC 0x1f995bc Jet'.
On both a windows 2000 server and also a windows 2003 server. Also using both DSN and DSN less connection and oledb.
Any help would be greatly apprectiated.
Thanks
, Yes, as long as each installation is in in it's own web site.
(or at least in it's own application in IIS)
Meaning you could have 5 directories in your site each with the app installed as long as each directory got set as an application in IIS.
Remember, a license must purchased for each running install except for development reasons on local machines.
cwilliams38400.5162384259, Javascript Popup/Pop Under Generator
Until I have time to make one I suggest using the one on the banmanpro support site as it is pretty nice.
Just dont use option 2 on that page as that is specific to banmanpro
http://www.banmanpro.com/support/popupgenerator.asp
cwilliams38291.614849537, I have ASPProtect up and running and I was able to log in with little to now problem after following all of the directions.
I imported my data base of users (approx 5300) into the access db, and now it times out just letting me log in.
I've got full access to the web server to make any changes on that end that I need.
any ideas?
,
grrrrrr
As far as the users thing... my fault that was setup wrong in the settings of the admin login page.
but still dont have a solution for what im trying to do
, There is no way I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars for a thumbnail creation program. Mine is a family web site and all out of my pocket.
Is there any free products that work with Gallery that will create the thumbnails? If not can I create them on my own and link them to the pics? There are tons of Perl based freebies out there.
Steve
, You are NEVER supposed to move any files, especially that one. Of course that is going to break a lot of things.
Please put it back the way it was.
You change the path of the include file when you call it, never the location of the include file., I just did a quick google search... found a ton of info on how to find the setting. Here is one...
These are directions for IIS6 but the process is similar for IIS4-5
- Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Double-click your computer name in the left pane, and then double-click Web Sites.
- Locate the Web site and directory that houses the ASP application.
- Right-click the application site or directory, and then click Properties.
- Select Home Directory, and then click Configuration.
- Click Options, and then click to select the Enable Parent Paths check box.
- Click OK two times.
