Ok nevermind that... i got by that wasn't paying attention...
The problem is even before this which i didn't know until now.
I placed the protect tag in a page i called members.aspx
When i go to this page is says ACCESS DENIED etc etc etc.
When i go to login to view this page i get the error..which i DIDNT know because i assumed it was working. This is the error im getting:
Server Error in '/MAP' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /map/users/aspprotectlogin.aspx
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.42; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.42
btw it says /map because that is the subfolder within the root folder , I see what your saying.. its just hard to troubleshoot something when a lot of changes have been made.
Did you test things before you started modifying the code ?
If its SQL server it is very important that the database was created with the provided SQL scripts.,
That worked...but when I tried importing the test user, the password was imported in an add formated...like it was encrypted, and I can't log in using the User ID that I imported., Three questions here:
1. I am having a problem with characters being displayed properly when viewing listings. Some alphabet characters and punctuation characters do not display properly when viewing the pages.
Sample here:
http://www.hibari2.com/lanoitanretni/kokusai_profiles/view_i tem.asp?Ad_ID=102&CatLevel=2&Cat1_ID=3&Cat2_ID=& amp; amp; amp; amp;Cat3_ID=&Cat4_ID=&FromSearch=True&SearchPage =%2Flanoitanretni%2Fkokusai%5Fprofiles%2Fdefault%2Easp%3FCat Level%3D2%26Cat1%5FID%3D3
In the access database I was looking at the properties for the ‘Ad_Custom’ fields. Unicode Compression is 'Yes' but IME Mode is set to 'No Control'. I wonder by changing this to ‘Hiragana’ if will solve the issue.
Note: the essays are typed in English on computer with Japanese OS, and then pasted up. Even though they are typed in English, there are several setting that may affect the output.
2. I want to reverse sort order for listings instead of listing 4, 5, 6, 7, I’d like to sort 7, 6, 5, 4… Could you tell me which page has to be edited, and in simplest terms what has to be changed?
3. Also, I’d like to increase the default display of ‘items per page’ from 25 to 100. Could you tell me which page has to be edited, and in simplest terms what has to be changed?
Thanks
HIBARI38155.8447569444, I dont know about the unspecified errors. I really need more detailed information. (Since it has been working fine for quite a long time you might want to consider installaing the application from scracth again and see if you still get errors)
As for the log in not persiting. Did you by chance turn off cookies in your browser ? They are required for forms based authentication to function. Otherwise, yes you would need to log in to each and every page as you moved around. cwilliams38414.6054166667, Just an update,,,
the permission were all correct.... i left it and tried from my pc at work and it works fine... so i dont know what hahhpened.... thansk for your quick response
regards
Domenic
Sydney, Australia , I just told you a lot of different things to try... and I doubt you have tried them in the time since I mentioned them , Encountered another issue. When entering a user name correct but the wrong password get the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in string in query expression '(Username = 'ROBERT') AND (Password = 'ZŁ$'.
/check_user_inc.asp, line 115
Did I do something else wrong?!
Thanks , ok, here's a test page: http://www.galvinelectricity.org/download_link.asp
user: test password: test
Our company just got new computers, so everyone here has the same set-up, all Dells, all about 3 weeks old, all Windows XP.
But I did realize after reading your post that I am using Firefox and everyone else was using IE. When I used IE, I was able to duplicate the error.
But, alas, I am unable to resolve it. Client will be using IE, no doubt.
, Advertising ?? oh really.
It was named that because that way if you already have a login.aspx file for whatever reason it does not interfere which is a good thing. It has nothing to do with advertising.
Next off you never mentioned having an issue with it saying aspprotect in it. I am EXTREMELY clear about what I support and do not regarding ASPProtect.NET. If you are upset because I didn't tell you exactly what to edit and change in visual studio.net and hold your hand you are out of line. My god, I sent you to like the best and most detailed tutorial on how to setup and use the application with VS.NET that could ever exist. That took forever to put together. I even responded to your post on Christmas on a Sunday. I doubt too many companies would have responded on Christmas.
More importantly than that when you purchase code from CJWSoft you are purchasing digital source code and there are no refunds. Every single page in the CJWSoft family states that very cleary in the footer. I do not appretiate it when someone threatens a chargeback and as far as I am concerned anyone that does that is commiting a crime of theft. I also do not appretiate smart comments saying it's "obvious" etc etc
If you wanted to strike a nerve with me you did. If you want to commit a crime and be a thief that is your business as well. Obviously I can not stop that and the credit card company will take your side. I work very hard on the source code I sell and my policies on everything are VERY clear.
Advertising ?? Calling the credit card company ?? Obvious ??
nice, real nice , Hey, I thought I'd share this tip with the ASPProtect community...
If you'd like to remove, modify, or add fields to the "Users" view in
the password_admin default.asp page, it's really easy to do. Well, at
least it was for me. I'm using an MS Access database, by the way.
For me, I don't need "Company" info, but I do need last access and # of
times accessed displayed. Therefore, I had to change the default page
in three areas:
In /password_admin/default.asp, go to about line 185 or so, where you see stuff like:
[code]<td valign="bottom"><font face="Arial" color="#000000"
size
="2"><b>First Name& lt;/b> </font></td> [/code]
OK, those are the column headings. Each one corresponds to a column
from your USERS table in your database. There are two more areas to
consider, both of which appear immediately after this section.
The next section has statements that look like this:
[code]<td valign="bottom"><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+ASC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_ascending.gif" Alt="Sort
Ascending"></a><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+DESC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_descending.gif" Alt="Sort
Descending"></a></td>[/code]
See the "First_Name" items? The first is for an ascending sort, the
second for a descending. This particular line corresponds to the code
snippet immediately above it. But all this does is handle the sorting.
For the actual data, look lower for this stuff:
[code] <td bgcolor="<% = Cellbgcolor
%>"><font face="Arial" size="1"> <%=
CmdListUsers("First_Name")
%& gt; </font></td> [/code]
It's a good ways down, so don't be impatient if you don't see it in 10
lines from the end of the last mentioned section. This stuff handles
the display of the data from the database (where else ya gonna get
data, anyway?)...
Now, to remove a field, you need to find the three sets that go with
that data. The ascending/descending sort is potentially the trickiest,
because it's the longest set of data and can take a number of lines.
Just clear it from the start td to the end /td and you'll be fine.
To *add* a field, copy and paste the code from an existing field and
modify it. In the first one, the column title, you can type whatever
you want to describe your info. Nobody but you and your admins will see
it. For the next two sections, though, you need to get the correct
column heading from the USERS table and use that to correct the lines
in the copied code you pasted in.
For example, when I added a column to show the number of times a user
logged in, I copied the above snippets and pasted them in where I felt
the column I needed should be. Then, in the first one, I changed "First
Name" to "Logins". In the ascending/descending snippet, I changed
First_Name to Counter. Same for the last snippet.
The result? A new column, showing the number of logins my users were successful with.
Of course, before you experiment, back up your existing default.asp file, JUST IN CASE.
Have fun!
, Thanks.
Nick , I log all 404 errors on my site and since installing ASPBanner, I get a lot of the following error:
/aspbanner/edit_banner.asp?Banner_ID=11&User_ID=1 contains a broken link:
/aspbanner/right1.gif
ID changes and there are various missing links. Some missing links include:
/aspbanner/drop2.gif /aspbanner/left1.gif /aspbanner/right2.gif etc.
While not critical, these are filling up my error logs and it takes time for me to sort through them. , OK. If no return page is set, do they end up on a PayPal confirmation page and have to navigate back to my site by going Back or typing the web address?
Nick , Hi,
Could you please advise what may be causing this error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x57a4 Thread 0x5474 DBC 0xf03a704 Jet'.
/ASPProtect/check_user_inc.asp, line 292
Funny thing is that if I refesh the page with the above error it gives me the following eror:
/ASPProtect/check_user_inc.asp, line 292
and after few times of refreshing the page it shows me the page I am after.
Is this my promlem or ISP's.
Thank you , Even if I try to upload the test file that was included with the system I still get the same error.
My host is using Windows 2003 Server.
Will send you a private email to see if the issues can be sorted out.
Thanks
, I believe I'm having trouble with Domain masking in that it appears to affect the ASP Photo Gallery login screen.
My address is forwarded and masked by my domain "company" (in this case: Godaddy.com). It is forwarded to a Win2000 Server running at my static home IP.
From outside of my network, the website appears to work fine...even the default.asp page works to the point of the login page. After entering a login and password - you hit the login button and the page simply reloads only with all of the header and footer information removed.
I found that by eliminating the domain masking feature at the domain company, the problem gets eliminated and the entrie site works fine.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm guessing it's the way the domain name is held in the browser cache but I'm not sure how to resolve it so that the ASPPhotoGallery scripts and pointers work correctly.

epeterson38365.6397569444, YES.. you need to edit your SWF file to link to the aspbanner system...
example.. the link may look something like this http://banserver.powerasp.com/aspbanner/banner_redirect.asp? Banner_ID=60
of course you need to put in the right information for your site and whatever banner ID it is in your system
Like it says above.. if you save the new banner at least once and then come back to edit that link will be generated for you at the bottom of the edit page.
then when your flash banner is clicked on it will go track the click and then send them to the "link_url" specified for that banner when you edited it. (you need to enter the final destination url there if you want that to work) , Version 8.1 can work with MySQL http://www.aspbanner.com/aspbanunlimited_v8.asp It is just not supported at all.
The standard version can not work with MySQL. There were a lot of changes to make the new version work with it and I really only did ift because I have a couple friends with busy sites that could only use MySQL.
It sounds like your site is way too busy for using an access database as you mentioned. , (User Photo Upload Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This will allow an individual user to upload a user picture instead of just the admin.
Notes: This is a down and dirty mod. The user upload code was copied from the admin area and there are no safeguards. Meaning there is no limit on the file size a user uploads and there is no confirmation process in case something they upload is inappropriate. etc etc etc
If you want that you will have to work on that on your own.

Directions: Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
copy these files into your "users" folder
2006-01-24_111305_User_Upload_Mod.zip , ASPProtect 7 Customization Service
As some people seem to have a lot of trouble editing ASP code I am currently willing to consider doing ASP Programming custimization work to the registration pages/database as well as the admin area of ASPProtect Version 7.
things like drop down lists, yes/no fields, new database fields, edit screen additions... etc etc
things that might take an ASP novice forever but I could do in reasonable time.
PM me detailed specs on what you want and will then provide a quote if interested. I get paid via PayPal ahead of time and am charging 40/hour for my time which is a discounted rate. (partially since I am so familiar with the application and partially because you have made a purchase from CJWSoft)
So to be very clear...
You tell me exactly what you want in detail, If I agree and you like the price quote, I get paid, I write the code, you get the code, I fix any minor bugs or errors if I made if any, and everyone is happy. That's the deal.
Pain in the ass people or people not willing to spend money for quality work done quickly need not contact me. I get enough of that as it is and my time is valuable. I also may refuse a job if I don't have time or just don't want to do the work involved. Really how well you describe what you want and the intelligence level vibe I get from you has a lot to do with whether I will do the job or not.,
I just added this line to the paypal1.asp
page
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code"
value="CAD">
and it worked. Clearly other values can be entered for other currencies.
Everything was listed in this manual https://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/subscriptions.pdf.
Cheers

, O.K. , I register myself as a user. No problem, Iget an e-mail saying account active. No problem. I click the link in the e-mail. No problem. I click sign in and get this message. Big problem!!
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/aspprotect/config_inc.asp, line 15 Dim Address_Required,CDONTS_Installed,City_Required,Registration _Type,VerifyURL,Log_Off_Page ----^ cwilliams38456.0969444444, say ?
How do you like LiveSTATS.xsp V7 ?
Looks pretty sweet but the pricing is just too much for me to justify as I am very happy with smarterstats and I host a lot of sites now.
I used to use Livestats 5 back in the day when we had a 50 domain license where I worked and hosted my sites. I liked it a lot then I tried the version 6.2 that they had for a while and hated it. Version 5 still runs well on 2003 server but it has such outdated search engine information that it isnt worth using. cwilliams38324.8862847222, I have been working on this. 2Checkout is like the most confusing and worst payment processing company on the planet. There are things about that page I just don not understand as many times as I read through it.
Doesn't seem like this stuff is mandatory just yet. (I asked)
I should have something soon. , Got any info for me on this ?
Chris , No luck...this is the message
Return To Import / Export Screen.
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/members/aspprotect/password_admin/upload_post.asp
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools. , My site is composed of mostly asp based pages with some javascripting thrown in, but a fair amount is strictly html and javascripting. Currently I am using the javascript banner method throughout the site.
You have mentioned in the past that several other methods might be a better option for asp pages.
Examples would be: XML Parser Method or asphttp method.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the javascript method on my non-asp pages and maybe the asphttp method on the asp pages and all in the same Zone?
Or, is it possible to use the asphttp method on all pages, whether they are asp or not?
I'm just trying to figure out what is the most efficient way to use the banner system.
Or maybe should I just keep it all javascript method?
Any helpful feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks.

, thats not good.. its a web server configuration issue of some sorts ?
post is a common method for forms.. if it is not supported it is something you should ask the server admins about.
Is this a windows based web server running true microsoft ASP because that error is usally associated with non windows IIS based web servers from what I can see by doing a google search ?
ASPProtect only runs on windows servers running IIS and True Microsoft ASP. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo165-1.htm
My guess is your web server is running Apache Unix or something like that. , Is there a limit to how many access levels the program has? We were thinking of having a different access level for each client that logs on our site so we can customize their web experience. We see 6 in one place of the program, 8 in another, but is there any reason why we couldn't make 100 more?
Thanks again for the help! , If you run asplistings auto in its own folder with its own application in IIS. Connected to its own database.
And you run your other version of ASPListiings in its own folder with its own application in IIS. Connected to its own database.
You will have zero major changes to make to anything... other than what you did above..
But remember theyare the same app and share a lot of thing including sessions and application variables.. that is why if they are installed in the same domain each one needs its own application set in the IIS console so they run seperately of one another. cwilliams38312.5189814815, I am not sure. I can tell you that I run windows 2003 server and I have never had any issues setting permissions for ASP.NET files and folders. This very server is 2003 and the ASPProtect.NET demo runs on this server as well.
Course, I can't say that I have specifically tried to remove ASP.NET READ permissions on the database folder as it's just not something I would not have a reason to do. Why are you trying to do that? The ASP.NET account needs that permission. If you are trying to stop file browsing and downloading in that folder that is not how you do that. The best way to do that is by keeping the database somewhere else on the server that is not part of the http web. , You can't do that. ASPProtect 7 does not work with ASP.NET.
It is a classic ASP application. As the web site states it can only be used to protect ".asp" pages written using vbscript.
ASP and ASP.net are completely different animals.
Thats why we have a .NET version. http://www.aspprotect.com/more_info_net.asp
, actually, looks like its 8.95 a month now for a pretty slick plan http://www.alentus.com/hosting/valueplan.asp, If you are having trouble setting up a simple data connection ASPTest is a great learning tool.
You can download it from the www.CJWSoft.com website near the bottom. cwilliams38087.5457060185, ok, how about some more in fo on the setup ?
What version of MSSQl ?
Exactly how did you create the sql database ?
Is it possible banners.asp got edited ?
Did you create all your banners via the admin interface and do all all banners have a zone assigned as that is important ? Sometimes customers will add banner info directly to the database and leave out vital field info that the application requires. Based on that error it is starting to look like that page is coming across a banner with no zone ID and thus the error. , Larry,
I have a new computer up and running and am back on the Internet full time. I am here to help when you are ready to continue with this.
I went to your site to look around and "try it" like you mentioned but I can not really try anything as the admin username/password seems to be something other than the default , Not to be pushy, but how's the new version progressing?
I'm hoping these features will be in it:
- possibly add the ability to move pictures around in an album. and maybe between albums, I must also remember to move the ratings and desc as well for that image.
- possibly add a feature to store 3 versions of images uploaded
thumbnail, medium res, and high res/original
-
add option to store the images orginal name in the images description area during upload may be helpful to people that name their images in a somewhat descriptive way
-
add support for the ibulc bulk upload client that I recently discovered
If you could use a beta tester, I'm still just setting up my site and would be willing to run a beta.
Thanks
Al , I'm using the groups protect feature on my pages. None of them seem to close the session after clicking 'logoff'. I can tell because if I hit the back button and return to the group-protected page, hit 'refresh', the page refreshes, I'm not asked to log in again.
On the other hand, when I open a page that's protected by an access level and click 'logoff' (uses same logoff asp file to logoff), it seems to work fine - if I go back a page and refresh, it asks me to log in.
Just wondering - is anybody else having problems like this? Maybe I screwed something up in the few adjustments I made a while back. Any idea what it might be? , Chris,
Well some good news ! This from my hosting company this morning...
"
I'd say that the vendor is right so I've submitted a work order to create the *****.com/aspnetprotect directory as an application. If there are any other directories for which this needs to be done, please let us know. This particular task always needs to be performed by our staff.
If you need to follow up on this job with one of our on-line or phone technicians, you can reference ticket id 11860.
