Chris -
Sorry, I am looking at your code on view_item.asp and I have noticed that you are calling 3 variable; start_date, end_date, and image_url that do not exist in the databases that you provided. Do I have the updated package for ASPVendor?
, well, like I said.. I am leaving in about 5 minutes for the wedding.
If you put this up on a live server that I can connect to I will look at it tommoro for you. I have told you everything I could possibly tell you so I dont think your going to figure it out based on the things you have told me so far.
Only other thing I can think of is make sure your not running anything goofy on that server 2003 box. Norton Antivirus script blocking... various ad blockers.. anti spyware applications... etc etc... They can cause problems as well. ,
The "forgot your password" feature is not sending passwords to users when they put in their emails.
Any suggestions?
Thanks , I have connected to countless DB's using my own applications written in dreamweaver and have tested them on my own server and also my web facing one. BUT this seems to be different. no matter what I try I still get this error.
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x440 Thread 0x6b0 DBC 0x1f995bc Jet'.
On both a windows 2000 server and also a windows 2003 server. Also using both DSN and DSN less connection and oledb.
Any help would be greatly apprectiated.
Thanks ,
Chris,
I'm setting up the subscription locally so I can't test it out until I
put the site live. I have a question in how the paypal
subscription works.
1. What is telling paypal to return the info to the ipn.asp page for
processing? Is that something I have to set up in my paypal
account?
2. I'd like to use Paypal's
auto return. I assume the return page would be ipn.asp?
Would I just need to add a redirect to the login page at the end
of the appropriate txn_type if/then statement?
Thanks,
Michelle
P.S. I did finish the integration of the webwizforum with
ASPProtect. Thanks for the great headstart on that! Will be
putting everything live in a couple weeks.
, To hopefully wrap this thread up...
This user showed me his site and things were working for me as they should.
We came to the conlusion that the weird behavior he was experiencing was because he was using AutoComplete in Internet Explorer....
It was automatically filling in the fields with his username/password that he had autocomplete save.
So it was a web browser usage issue.. not the code. cwilliams38165.5102546296, Okay, I deleted out the aspprotect folder and started over. I also took out the dsn connection to the ecommerce database and deleted out the subweb that had it, I decided to use another provided where the database is resident on thier servers not mine.
I broke my txt file into groups and it's loading sort of. The first 1000 users uploaded fine...the second said it timed out, but when I looked at the access database it showed 2000 people. The login still times out and every page seems to load incredibly slow still. , Sounds to me like you got some bad databases or something. Or your trying to open a database with too old of a version of msaccess.. not sure
Everything is stored in one database. And yes there is more than just the users table.
Also, removing the "temp" password should be a piece of cake.
Email me for a new copy of the download file ? Use the contact from on the cjwsoft site. Please tell me your order details as well so I know who you are.
, You can also try setting asphttp's user agent property to some browser version like in this example. It might stop that info from showing up when it fetches a page from the server.
<% Dim BanObj1Http Set BanObj1Http = Server.CreateObject("AspHTTP.Conn") BanObj1Http.UserAgent = "Mozilla Compatible (MS IE 3.01 WinNT)" BanObj1Http.Url = " http://banserver.powerasp.com/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?Ba nnerZone=1" Response.Write BanObj1Http.GetURL set BanObj1Http = nothing %>
Also... I dont know if these values below will work but I got them from looking at my nt logs.
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
And here is more info on the asphttp component and it's settings. http://www.serverobjects.com/comp/asphttp3.htm cwilliams38248.6481365741, If a picture does not show after uploading it is one of the following things.
The upload method chosen is not supported on the server or The physical path specified to the pictures folder is not correct. or The URL to the Pictures folder is not correct. or Permissions to the pictures folder have not been set properly
Here is more information on how permissions are set.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo136-1.htm http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo56-1.htm
Without more information and the settings you have entered and chosen that is all I can offer for now. , If you are having trouble setting up a simple data connection ASPTest is a great learning tool.
You can download it from the www.CJWSoft.com website near the bottom. cwilliams38087.5457060185, upgrade pricing is here http://www.aspbanner.com/purchase_unlimited_v8.1_classic_upg rade.asp
what is different http://www.aspbanner.com/v8_notes.asp
the changes to make it work with MySQL were vast to say the least more on that from an old thread http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=37&PN= 1&TPN=1
just please remember use of MySQL is just not supported http://www.aspbanner.com/mysql.htm
I can assure you it works well as I have people using it
, There is nothing built in to the system but it is very doable. However, you need to be a decent asp coder because your going to have to write some code.
Basically you would want to do a check on the screen where a user uploads to count how many pictures they have uploaded.
Then act accordinly and either let them or dont let them proceed.
On a side note the overall filesize limit of the total of all pictures a user can upload can be set when you edit a user.
, if it is your own XP machine there is no reason you should edit that config file manually.
simply set permissions on the data folder and all the folders in it and the application will write to the config files on its own... if you are having problems chances are you are not setting permissions correctly.. please read all of this http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo56-1.htm
if is not an XP machine (your post was confusing and I am not sure) then this is an article for 2003 server http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo136-1.htm
Most importantly whats the real error ? error 500 does not help figure out anything http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo11-1.htm
lastly make sure you go into iis and make that web its own application , if you use either of those options the mail server info you use must of course be valid (example: mail.somesite.com) your host can provide that info
you should also make sure your sending the emails using an account at your email server.. not some other email you have
other than that if it does not send emails it could be because your hosting company may require authentication for outgoing emails...
ask them ...
if that is the case the version of ASPBanner you have does not support sending email that way and you would need to add the necessary code to any places that send email... in order for emailing to work , If by permissions ou are reffering to the IUSR with write/execute
permissions, they are already set. I get this error when I hit the 'Create New
Export File From Current User Database' link:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'
Path not found
/ASPProtect/password_admin/export.asp, line 76
Any other suggestions?, I'm using version 6 upgrade and recently some of the users complained that their passwords are no longer working. I was able to replicate the problem as I also experienced the same thing with my account.
Once I reset the password thru e-mail (Forgotten your password?), I am able to login but it fails later. This is weird as I have an identical copy of the code running flawlessly on my test server.
The only change which I made to the original downloadable code is by adding password encryption using Base 64 encryption.
Any ideas what might be the problem , not anything built into the app... it would be done with client side javascript if you wanted to look into it... my client side javascript skills are ziltch, Is there anyway to limit the number of Albums each user can make? , I was actually able to do similar thing by allowing our dedicated search engine to access the site unchallanged.
<% If Trim(Left(Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_USER_AGENT"),11)) = "MYPASSWORD" Then SearchFlag = True End If If SearchFlag <> True Then If Session("Access_Level") > CHECKFOR or Session("Access_Level") = "" Then %> <!--#include virtual="/Auth/check_user_Code.asp" --> <head> <title>My Title</title>
</head>
<body>
My Protected stuff here
</body>
</html>
For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.
Thanks,
Mo , Regarding installation in a subfolder
Though this should be common sense and ASP.NET 101 "so to speak" One thing not mentioned in the docs..
If you do not install ASPProtect.NET in the true root of a web there a key in the web config you must adjust.
it looks like this
<forms name=".aspprotect~net" loginUrl="/aspprotectlogin.aspx" protection="All" timeout="60" path="/" />
The way it comes it is valid for a root installation..
lets say you installed the application in folder called. "aspprotectnet"
the key would change to this
<forms name=".aspprotect~net" loginUrl="/aspprotectnet/aspprotectlogin.aspx" protection="All" timeout="60" path="/" /> cwilliams38454.3830439815, (customer replied aug-sep 2005)
OK, you have old code then... I will send you some updated files that you can try.. let me know here if it solves the problem. , Thank you.... yes it does
Is there a limit in the number of Zones you can have in the database.
thanking you , I dont what it is..u got to just keep trying stuff like connecting to different versions of the database and maybe even the version with no password set on it.. maybe do some iisresets in between if it is your server.. maybe try putting the database in a different folder
Usually people have zero trouble setting up this particular app because everything is so time tested and rock solid...
its just got to be something related to the actual data connection.. low level stuff , you would have to edit the application in visual studio.net.. change some things around and recompile the application... in the process figuring out how you want to handle all of that (probably combining the username and email fields just on the registration form then saving both values to the database)
very doable.. just not anything documented or supported as it is custimization
I do have a very nice article on the forums on how to set up a project in visual studio.net with the application.. it is in the forums, ok, now were getting somewhere
I didn't know you imported from another system,
chances are you are missing field information that an ASPProtect user requires.
Start off from scratch with a new aspprotect database... create a new user and look at the info that gets entered by default for every field in the database
make sure when you import a user that you mimic it all
dont import directly using access because the passwords will not get converted to encrypted versions of themselves correctly.. and the whole process will be usesless as no passwords will be correct
Use the import feature built into ASPProtect.. because it is smart enough to take the clear text passwords and encrypt them accordingly
if you want to know a correctly formatted import file needs to look like make one and check it out
do one user at a time and make sure you can log in to an example protected page till you get it right...
once you get that working do them all
Thats really the best advice I can give you. , I am up to speed on how it works. My goal was to not have just a link to a protected page- so that when a user clicks it they get the "access denied" screen and then have to log in. My goal was to avoid that if possible by having them log in and then redirected to the protected page.
So this isnt possible? The only way for it to work is for a user to click a link to the protected page, get the denied screen, then login and be redirected?
Or is there another way..?
I made my point by rebuttling your "cafepress" with agreeing "YES" that is what i want... now you are changing this around on me. I dont think i can be ANY clearer in what i intend to do. It is extremely clear and i am not sure why its becoming more than it should be. I just want the user to be able to log in from ANY PAGE ON THE WEBSITE AND THEN BE REDIRECTED TO THE PROTECTED PAGE IF THE HAVE THE PROPER CREDENTIALS. It would be nice if this software gave an error message when an incorrect username/password was entered instead of simply refreshing the screen. ,
Both
the NET and Classic ASP versions of this application are designed for
fine granularity protection of individual apsx extension files.
ASPProtect.NET is not designed or intended to protect sub directories,
or non aspx content such as Adobe Acrobat .pdf files etc etc.
I
completely disagree with your statement that “most sites” have a login
box on the left hand side of the page. I suspect you thinking of the
ever popular php based forums and “Nuke” type CMS systems which are set
up that way but if you look at any site written entirely using .NET
that’s rarely if ever the case. (Granted I cant say for sure because I
personally haven’t looked at >50% of the estimated 18 billion + web
pages on the internet) Just off the top of my head www.CafePress.com
come to mind as a pure .NET site. If you take a look the login button
it takes you to its own login page there is not global login form used
throughout the site. Reason being that .NET introduced this thing
called a “view state” which is used to store things like your session
ID (and way more) and must be posted back to the server in order to
keep track of visitors. This technology comes in especially handy when
you have a web farm in place and your content is being spit out out by
more than one server at the same time
I
can think of loads of scenarios where the web servers need to know who
you are even though you are never directly contacting them via http.
This approach is a very smooth and actually very clever solution for
enterprise level websites that simply can’t be handled with a single
web server.
On
a practical level I know what you are saying but that application sets
up all sorts of things when a protected page is accessed and the user
is not yet authenticated. That’s the entire reason you need to put that
snippet of code at the top of a page you want to protect. That code
snippet calls the ASPProtect.NET class and runs through all the logic
to see if you are able to access the page. If you are the subroutine
exits and the server continues to process the remaining logic on the
page. AKA you are able to access its content. If you are NOT
authenticated ASPProtect will setup all the proper session and
viewstate info and redirect you to the login page for authentication.
You may have also noticed a parameter on the login page called
ReturnURL. The application looks for that info and if you do have a
user ID and password the application automatically redirects you to the
page you were trying to access in the first place.
Really
I have no idea what you are trying to do, but there is a world of
difference in how something looks verses how it works. Lets just say
there was a simple way to do what your thinking, what are you going to
do with that login form after the person logs in? Just keep displaying
it on the entire site so people get confused and don’t know if they are
logged in or not? Just that little part of the equation will require
making some changes to either ASPProtect.NET or your application will
have to have some logic built into it to stop displaying the login
forum.
It
sounds to me like your basically looking for a super simple 101 type
deal that allows people to sign up for an event and you the admin can
see that information? I’m guessing they can also log in again and check
out their details and see what event they signed up for?
If
that’s the case you’re trying to take a very sophisticated protection
application and downgrade it into something that would be one heck of a
lot easier to write all from scratch in about an hour.
Your
not going to be able to “plug and play” a simple form into a page and
turn that application as a magic universal login solution for a
website, while its 100% possible to use the application that way if you
choose, you need to check out the source code and plan your custom
integration accordingly.
, Really, only you or your hosting company would know that information...
It is usally installed in the "_database" folder but the physical path including the drive letter to that can only be known by asking your hosting company or by using server mappath to learn the path on you own. http://www.powerasp.com/content/hintstips/physical-path.asp
That folder also needs special permissions. The permissions it needs are covered in the documentation for the software and generally only your hosting compnay can set those permissions.
The online support forums here are full of information and resources on correctly setting up data connections. It is ASP 101 and something you really need to have an understanding of.
I am happy to answer questions and try to help, but if you dont want to deal with it or can't we do offer installation services.

,
Humm, Did you make any changes to the code ? Solid Black is not the default so it must have changed at least once.
I did change the top_logo.gif and the associated link. That was on the default page not the Solid Black skin which is unchanged. After downloading/uploading the skins I tried changing it to one of the Beach skins and that's when it changed to Solid Black and has been stuck there ever since.
Otherwise it might be some sort of application variable problem. I would make sure the web is and "application" in the IIS console.
I don't have access to the Microsoft IIS console as this is a host site. I can access the site's "control panel" but it does allow for those type of settings. Mostly just permissions, DSN entries, etc.

, from the import page in the admin area.
The import/export file must be tab delimited with no text qualifiers. The 1st row containing field names and the following each being a new user. To create your own import file it must be in this exact format. To find out what field names and their order are simply create an export file using ASPProtect and take a look at it. You can also import that text file into MSACCESS. , Please forgive any ignorance on my part.
Using the live demo, it seems that with the banner software my advertisers would only have access to reports, but no ability to upload banners, specify keyword triggers or zones, what have you. Is this correct?
The other thing I couldn't quite figure out, assuming I had a categorized directory on my site, is this system configurable to display different banners based on category? Perhaps through keyword triggers?
Thank you in advance for any assistance. ,
I'm having another problem-hopefully it's a quick fix.
it tries to go to a page: default.aspx
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested Url: /default.aspx
When i log in as admin from the aspprotectadmin/default.aspx that works fine...
where should the user be sent when they log in? Am i supposed to specify that or is it automatic? Why isnt it working for me? I dont believe i changed any settings that correspond to that either , I wouldn't bother doing that. If pic uplading doesn't work it is most likely permissions to the directory pictures are uploaded to. If they are not set correctly it will not work. That dir needs the same permissions the database folder needs. , I am running Windows 2000 server. I do believe asp.net IS installed as I have the .NET 1.1 framework installed.
Funny about the bounce backs. I am at about 10% of my limit, which I control as I am the network admin. I'll check into that. , Great software.
How easy would it be to copy the email address entered at registration directly into the login id field so that the user's email address is automatically used as the login id?
Also, where in the code can I turn off the random password generator - I'd rather force people to pick something they can remember themselves.
Thanks,
Nick , I am trying to protect and ASP page written in Javascript. The first part of the page goes:
<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT"%> <!--#include file="../Connections/connWINGAP.asp" -->
When I insert the aspprotect code it looks like this:
<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT"%> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/GIS/WCGIS/GISProtect/check_user_inc.asp"--> <!--#include file="../Connections/connWINGAP.asp" -->
and I get this error:
Microsoft JScript compilation error '800a03f7'
Unterminated string constant
/GIS/WCGIS/GISProtect/check_user_inc.asp, line 2
I think I understand that your code is written in VBscript and that is why it is not working. If this is the case, how can I switch to VB to execute your stuff then switch back?
Thanks,
