How do I recover or reset admin password used for the aspprotected pages. I have installed it months and months ago, but now can not recall the password. Any help appreciated, as I do not feel like installing it again.

,

can add photo album but after i upload a pic, nothing shows.

where do i look to research why pics aren't showing in the albums

,

Your suggestion worked - thanks - ,

I need a point or a little insight please.

I need to get information from a credit card authorization called netbilling. I have been looking at your code for PayPal and 2 checkout. I have a feel for the code flow and the relationships of the "includes" .

I have been doing a lot of reading in my books and am seemingly twisted around the axel. I am not expert in ASP I am better in VB. I am not afraid to write code I am just a little nervous about messing up existing relationships.

My plan is simple: code a page to open the database and populate the database fields from netbilling and convert their field name to yours in the database.

I appreciate your time and insight. As in the past I need your help again.

Thanks

, I would like to have the ability to give a user 1 album with the default # of photos in it.

Is the best way to implement this to just add in an album creation routine during the sigup/registration process and turn off the ability to create a new album?  Or is a user setting prebuilt into the system for this?
,

ok.. so we got an NT server with a 486 with 256 meg of ram.

hehe  sorry

anyway.. I have the system running without doing any importing and WOW is it chugging.. I mean it takes a while even to edit/save a user

good news is the filesystem object works as I wrote to a text file

this may end up being a simple case of lack of horsepower..

we may need to do the importing on a faster system and then take the database over cause everthing I see on your server looks correct

even so aspprotect is running so slow.. I have never seen it chug like this

I even tried connecting to a 2000 version of the database and no difference.

I am not totally sure what is going on but the server resources available are scaring me... however this could be something new in the code that I never got a chance to try on NT server.. I dont think so though

how does your other stuff run ?

static pages that do not access a database seem to serve up quickly.

are you running any other dynamic code ?

,

Is there a way to protect other virtual sites on the server that are not under the default web site considering people may have different websites running off one server?  I get the following error:

Parser Error Message: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

Source Error:

Line 1: <%@ Register TagPrefix="aspprotect" TagName="checkaccess" Src="../../protectpage.ascx" %>
Line 2: <aspprotect:checkaccess level="4" groups="null" runat="server"></aspprotect:checkaccess>
Line 3:

Thanks!

, Humm..

I have no idea where links to hose graphics are being called.

I checked the source of edt_banner.asp and I see no calls to any images named like that

I didnt see any calls in the header and footer files either...

,

I assume that if I am using this product, search engines such as Google cannot access and index my content. Can somebody confirm that; I want to be 100% sure.

In case it matters, I am using a basic, cheap ISP setup where my site is on a shared server.

Thanks in advance.

,
Christopher,

When viewing a list of albums with the navigation option 1, is there a way to get the Time Created sort to list Newest to Oldest, instead of Oldest to Newest.

Looking at the code in albums_navigation1_inc.asp, I can not determine how this works.

Thanks for your help!

p.s. I always forget how addicting this stuff can be...lol.

,

Below is the email I received when testing the self-registration. Does anyone know what setting I configured incorrectly?

I received the email to confirm the registration but the link to activate is invalied.

Thanks!

Your registration still has to be validated.
Go to
?u=bubbaj&v=4579
to verify your registration.

, When a logged in user with specific group rights tries to look at a page that has different group membership requirements the Login screen comes up giving them an opportunity to login with different rights to view the page.  If you log in again with your current user name the same login screen returns with the added words something to the effect of "Access Denied, you dont have group rights to this page...".

The only way to get back to the previous page is to hit the back button on the browser (there is not a back button on the denied page).

I would really rather not even present the "login again" screen to a user but just have a custom page that says "access denied" of my own design with a back button on it.  Is this an option provided for in ASPProtect currently?  I did not see it in the admin section settings tab.  Is there a separate "login again" asp file that is being used for this group access deny message that I could alter, or does it always have to be the login asp file?
Or would this require me modifying the check_user_inc.asp file around line 356 to change this behavior (I don't want to screw up any other stuff though...).

Thanks!!

Oh, PS.  just a quick check...it looks like if a user is an "admin" he automatically gets to see all group pages regardless of which set of group numbers are assigned in his user account...is that right?

,

I got ya. Well hey, that's what's great about the iframe right?

,

You really should check out the documentation regarding the config file before you go any farther.

If the server supports ASP.NET you do not have to spend any money to have real fast loading thumbnails.

Also, licenses of ASPImage only cost 69.95 and regardless any quality host supporting ASP should have one of the 3 supported resizing components installed or else you should consider a better host like www.alentus.com Places like that have good hosting prices and give you access to 3000.00 worth of 3rd party asp components.

,

A question.  Does this apply to all areas of the application.  I have recently uploaded 50 photes.  But when I look at the site from the url, I have X where the picture should be.  Now, if I look at it though the localhost, I see the pictures perfectly.

, from the import page in the admin area.

The import/export file must be tab delimited with no text qualifiers. The 1st row containing field names and the following each being a new user. To create your own import file it must be in this exact format. To find out what field names and their order are simply create an export file using ASPProtect and take a look at it. You can also import that text file into MSACCESS. , do you want my help making the database with your import file ?,

Actually it would because you would just count records for that user that are also active

and yes, users cant delete albums.. they can only turn them off which really means the albums lose their active status

only the admin can truly delete an album the way the code is
(that's just the way I did it for some reason.. I don't remember why)

cwilliams38433.0343865741,

Is there a way to set various members to upload a limit of photos. So, one member can only upload 5 photos in 1 album and another can upload 30 photos in 2 albums. Even if you just set a permission for the number of uploads for each member.

Thank you

,

I want to try this on the machine im using now; which is windows XP.

Is this possible? I don't think i can set folder permissions on XP... there is no option to do so...

Is there a way to do it?

, Hi Chris,

I've got a page with a form that includes an input field with 'type="file"' for uploading an image.  The page posts back to itself to save the info to the database and run the code necessary to upload and resize the image.

I need to limit this page to a group.   So like usual, at the top of the page I put:
<% GROUPACCESS = "1" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="../check_user_inc.asp"-->

This gives me the error: "Cannot call BinaryRead after using Request.Form collection"

I have used ASPUpload and SA-FileUP before and know that this is caused by the components having their own .form collection.  This script is using "Pure ASP File Upload" from DMXZone for the upload which I'm not familiar with.

So...my question is, do you know a way around the BinaryRead problem wtih ASPProtect?

Thanks,
Michelle

P.S. PLEASE don't send me to DMXZone for help....they've got notoriously bad support!

, Has this been resolved ?,

I did all that you sugessted and all failed, you  said "I did a sign up.. your verify URL is not saved/set in the application variables. is this somthing I can change manually?  below are the steps I performed......

1 - made sure the web is it's own application in IIS

2 - Reset IIS in command promt

3 - Restarted the server, the only thing is I have not waited perhaps long enough for it to kick in. but it should have with the restart.

I am running windows 2003 on the front end with wondows 2003 and Exchange 2003 on the back end, is there anything else that may be causing this issure?

Thank you!

Matt...

, Send email to users that are soon to expire:
What Format should be used for dates and does international friendly dates affect the date as used by the reminder ?

Am having serious problems with renewal notices and expiration dates.

All member sign ups are for 1 yr., yet new members are being sent renewal notices.

Does Paypal use a different date system or has  does Paypal have nothing to do with Subscription dates?

, YAY FOR ASPPROTECT 7!!!

Now I need to know... how can I automate PayPal subscriptions and purchases? I'd like it so that once PayPal gets its money, my accounts get marked active.

Now, the documentation on this site currently says, to point the IPN post action to a null page. Yet, I see an IPN.asp in my files for PayPal subs and PayPal purchases...  Looking over the code there, I see actions to make accounts active and stuff like that. Is the page ready for prime time, or should I hold off for a new version?
cwilliams38421.7014814815,

how di I change the currency dollar sign to gdp pound sign ?

I need all my tranactions in gdp puund sterling to use on paypal

,

When a new user adds themselves to the db thru the registration page, no user id is assigned in the User_id field.  I can't access the page on-line due to an user_id related error on the page.  I must use access itself and add the user id.  After that, everything works as expected.

What have I done?

,

I really need more information.

Connection strings being used ?
How have permissions for the database folder been set ?

etc etc  the more specific the better

You also may want to download ASPTest from our main site and see if you can get that running.

I would suspect your problem relates to the databases having a password set on them. Probably the ones you connected to didn't. It complicates setting up a connection correctly (especially a dsn) but there is a good reason for it as it adds a little extra security.

And of course my detailed article on the error.

,

all that docmunetation is online as well right here so you dont really need the chm file
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/info24.htm

the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?

,

One last thing..

This is bad

http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/pictures/

there are .asp files in there people can run that you dont want people running..

u should delete the asp files in there or turn off directory listing...

take care,

CJW

,

ahh, I see..

that is not really something you should change.. it is pretty much always going to say read for any folder

It's hard to say, but adjusting settings like that could inadvertently change folder permissions in a way that could cause problems and be hard to correct. I really don't know that for sure but it is very easy to totally mess up permissions when trying different things. In the past I had to reinstall iis just to get things back to normal. I eventually over time learned what to do and what not to do and have never had a problem since. I am not saying you are one of those people but a lot of people have problems because they play around with things they shouldn't or they go nuts trying to give every account permission starting from root folders... overwriting important default permissions instead of just making changes to a few specific folders.. not understanding the importance of what they are doing..... etc etc

Sometimes you practically have to be a NT expert just to fully understand permissions. I know a lot and I can handle my own server but it's hard to explain the low level basic of NT permissions to others as there is a lot to it under the scenes. A lot of hard core NT/2000 users do all the permissions from the command prompt because there is a lot more control at that level.

Like I said earlier, what you showed me looks right but this isn't a complex issue and the error means what it means. Something isn't right with the permissions.

I would start from scratch if I were you. Perhaps consider doing an install in a new web instead of in your root like you showed me. Or try installing it on another machine for troubeshooting sake.

I am sorry I can't think of some amazing answer on this one, but I think this is just one of those weird situations that requires starting from scratch or trying it on another machine.

, You kid around again regarding illegal downloads and not only will you be banned from the forums, your support will be cut off completely.

, okay thanks,
ok "ace45",

I just spent a bunch of time in your setup using SQL server and I didnt have a single issue. It all seems to be working perfectly to me.

I got into the system using the "get_me_in.asp" page like the instructions say to to.. then I deleted those two users you had there.

I created a new user called "admin".. then I edited that user to make him an admin.

I have logged off and back on as that user a bunch of times without issue.

admin
test

is the user info..

I just didnt see any problems whatsoever???

I also took the liberty of going into the settings page and setting all that up for you as well so all the url paths are right now and emailing from the application works.

I am going to wait an hour or so and try to log in a few more times but it honestly seems to be running perfectly to me. , I would like to change this file name to the typical Login.aspx, how to do this? I have a VS 2003 but need instrutions if that's the route to go., I get the following message when trying to  look up the sysdiag.aspx and the default.aspx files. Why? I have followed all the install instructions.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

cwilliams38454.4276388889, also, from looking at your site your ideal scenario would be a system that allows you to show all banners in one zone at any given time but in a different order.

ASPBanner is just not that sort of system. It is only designed to show one banner at a time from a given zone in random order.,

right..

I had to open up the permissions to get it to work.  I now have to go back and uncheck each one for directory listing.. :)

,

no, you cannot unless you plan to write a lot of custom code.

That is why the option pack has groups which eliminate the need to use access levels because groups can do everything access levels can and more.

There is an article here regarding that.

cwilliams38303.5555439815,

Hello,

If you see that when doing a view source then that code is not running.

I will need to go into your site and look as something is very wrong on a low level and I have no more ideas.

PM or email me the info and I will figure out what is going on.

I'll need ftp or frontpage access to the site.
I'll also need to know the urls for the asprotect system as well as the page you are trying to protect.
