i took another look at the file, and realized that when i was looking at the data structure i had confused "banner_image_URL" with "banner_link_URL". i lengthened the latter, and now all is good.
sorry for the false alarm, and thanks for a very-to-work-with product.
, well, for now you have to watch the logs. What your talking about would take up a lot of server resources and database space to keep track of. Maybe some day, but no plans at the moment.,
well, I was curious myself so I just tried it.
Good news is it worked just as I thought.
Only problem is your changing things to allow authentication info to be passed over the net in a url. If you can live with the security implications then it will work. I mean a sniffer could see that and end up knowing the username and password.. not likely but just putting that out there.
Of course now that I think about it unless you are running under SSL (https://) when you log in normally that info is in the post info anyway and possible to get at.. course not right out in the open like when you put it in the url and less likely to be noticed.
As long as your not doing it to access critical areas like the admin pages... and you monitor the log files once in a while it's probably nothing to worry about. , No worries
then..
is there any way I can get rid of those information shown on User activity screen, so I can at least know who logged in current day?
thank you in advance , well, like I said.. I am leaving in about 5 minutes for the wedding.
If you put this up on a live server that I can connect to I will look at it tommoro for you. I have told you everything I could possibly tell you so I dont think your going to figure it out based on the things you have told me so far.
Only other thing I can think of is make sure your not running anything goofy on that server 2003 box. Norton Antivirus script blocking... various ad blockers.. anti spyware applications... etc etc... They can cause problems as well. , I have multiple zone banners displayed on a single page using the AspHTTP Component Method.
However, in IE 6.x and NS 7.x each banner has some text displayed before it similar to:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0 Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 07:15:12 GMT MicrosoftOfficeWebServer: 5.0_Pub Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Length: 229 Content-Type: text/html Set-Cookie: ASPSESSIONIDAASSDQBA=HAICCGCANEBEPANCDHLHJJGC; path=/ Cache-control: private
This text does not appear when using Netscape 4.x cwilliams38325.741099537, Hello
I have a strange problem with the thumbnails in the ASPClassifieds. If i upload some pictures in an ad, the 2nd picture always shows with an x, as the picture doesn´t exists. But if i click on the 2nd thumbnail, the picture shows okay. I haven´t changed enything from the original code. Does anyone have any idea, where it goes wrong ?
With best regards, Erling Larsen , Hi Chris,
When I run the physical map test this is what I get:
The Physical path to this virtual website is: \\NAWINFS04\home\users\web\b2623\rh.vickery2004
Will that work correctly without a drive letter specified?
Thanks

, I am brought to a logon page in which I cannot access the page. This must be due to the check_user_inc.asp include. Without the include I get a blank page. , Regarding installation in a subfolder
Though this should be common sense and ASP.NET 101 "so to speak" One thing not mentioned in the docs..
If you do not install ASPProtect.NET in the true root of a web there a key in the web config you must adjust.
it looks like this
<forms name=".aspprotect~net" loginUrl="/aspprotectlogin.aspx" protection="All" timeout="60" path="/" />
The way it comes it is valid for a root installation..
lets say you installed the application in folder called. "aspprotectnet"
the key would change to this
<forms name=".aspprotect~net" loginUrl="/aspprotectnet/aspprotectlogin.aspx" protection="All" timeout="60" path="/" /> cwilliams38454.3830439815, humm.. can I possibly see this happening ? any changes to that part of the code ?
, I'm using ASPimage and have the maximum width set to 320 in the settings. Also using SAFileUP ver. 4.0.
Files upload okay, and the script displays a confirmation that the image was resized to 320, but the actual image uploaded is displaying full size rather than reduced to 320.
Also, the thumbnails are not displayed in the Picture Manager. Would indicated ASPImage is not working or the script is not communicating with it.
Suggestions? lancem38326.9070486111, yea.. keep us posted... thats weird, Hi,
Sorry, but if ".asp" pages download instead of run on a server then that means ASP is not working on the server and is not configured correctly. That is about as low level as it gets and it is really the hosting companie's responsibilty to sort that one out.
It is totally a system admininister's job to make sure that sort of thing is working. If this place supports ASP they really need to fix that for you. There really is nothing I can do for you until ".asp" pages at least run.
As for the Free install... that is no problem. Of course you need to get the hosting company to fix the web before I can be of any help. There is more to that problem then permissions.
For starters I would make a simple ".asp" page with hardly anything it (even some simple html text is fine) and ask them why it is downloading instead of executing and to please fix things. , can add photo album but after i upload a pic, nothing shows.
where do i look to research why pics aren't showing in the albums , ya, that firewall could mess that up.
just edit which ever style include you are using (with a text editor)
it will be one of these depending on your settings.. and they are located in the "scripts" directory
view_album_style1_inc.asp view_album_style2_inc.asp view_album_style3_inc.asp
find this section of code and remove the part in red
If Last_Counter_IP <> Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") Then Set CmdUpdateCounter = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") cmdTemp.CommandText = "SELECT " & tbl_label_albums & ".* FROM " & tbl_label_albums & " WHERE (Album_ID = " & Album_ID & ")" cmdTemp.CommandType = 1 Set cmdTemp.ActiveConnection = ConnGallery CmdUpdateCounter.Open cmdTemp, , 1, 3 CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Album_Counter") = (Album_Counter + 1) CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Last_Counter_IP") = Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") CmdUpdateCounter.Update CmdUpdateCounter.Close Album_Counter = Album_Counter + 1 End If , Installed latest verison Doesn't seem to have corrected problem. Still with same message. I wonder if deleting this user and putting him back in might help. I have not however tried any other user names and passwords. ,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I will consider editing the code. , Humm, its hard to explain but I am not sure that is a good way to be testing that. I hear what you are saying but I am not sure that really means anything. Whatever is going on its some sort of client side issue with the browser and the meta refreshing over a very long period of time during which there really is no user doing anything at the site. , Are there any problems with modifying the default database fields.
I need to have an update from net billing and they use different settings in the database than the default.
Will the interface still be functional?
, Even if I try to upload the test file that was included with the system I still get the same error.
My host is using Windows 2003 Server.
Will send you a private email to see if the issues can be sorted out.
Thanks
, Not without changing a lot of code. If you didn't want encryption you really should have went with version 6. Encryption is a big new feature of Version 7 and it is inter-mixed with it the code in a lot of places.
As for doing the export and import you have to create a valid export file and then read through this very thread which explains how to import an export file with clear text passwords.
This is from the admin area regarding the text file format The import/export file must be tab delimited with no text qualifiers. The 1st row containing field names and the following each being a new user. To create your own import file it must be in this exact format. To find out what field names and their order are simply create an export file using ASPProtect and take a look at it.
Generating an import file from your own database requires good knowlege and understanding of Access's Importing and Exporting functions. It is not something I cover as the process is different for everyone and not really very hard. , One last thing..
This is bad
http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/pictures/
there are .asp files in there people can run that you dont want people running..
u should delete the asp files in there or turn off directory listing...
take care,
CJW , again I will ask you what is the real error??
see the link above when I asked you the 1st time. (I need the error details and line number.. etc etc)
and what kind of a server are you trying to run it on ? you mention xp pro but in a confusing way ? , If things are not perfect there will be no log files and no errors.. it can only be one of these things really http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo313-2.htm
You may also want to make your the filesystem on the server is working and not disabled by norton script blocking or anything random like that. Testing the filesystem object is best done by writing a simple text file to a folder. Plenty of examples of doing that can be found at www.aspin.com
Recent activity is temporary and admin activity in the admin area is not tracked. If your application in IIS has reset or there has been no activity in the users area or in pages you protected there will be nothing there. The busier your site the more chance something will be there. For example usually our online demo has something there except right after 4am when my server does an iisreset. , IMPORTANT UPDATE - READ THIS http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=205& ;PN=1
The IPN Subscription Pack which is built in to ASPProtect 7 contains all the pre-built scripts you need to implement PayPal IPN Subscriptions with ASPProtect. IPN stands for (Instant Payment Notification). It allows you to set up scripts on your server so whenever a PayPal payment is processed the PayPal server sends info to your server regarding the transaction and vice versa. This is a fully automated process and allows you to charge users for access by the month or however long you like.
The Subscription feature of PayPal handles recurring billing automatically. The PayPal server will communicate with the ASPProtect system and keep everything up to date with users and their subscriptions.
This Support Pack basically gives you an additional signup and registration directory "paypal_sub_signup" and it should not interfere with any changes or customizations you have made to your ASPProtect setup. New users can register in this directory and sign up for a subscription at the same time. Existing users whether active or expired can be sent to this directory where they can lookup their account and start a subscription. You can also assign various Access and Group Levels during signup and you can set up various prices for various amounts of time as well. This is a real-time setup for the most part. As soon as a user pays via PayPal your system is updated and they will have access.
To use this all you need to do in ASPProtect 7 is enter your PayPal account name into the settings screen. It will be an email address. You'll need a business or premier account with PayPal and you will need log into your PayPal account and turn on IPN in you profile. They make you enter a default IPN URL. We do not use that so if you already have something there leave it there. If you dont have something there you can type in any the full url to any page on your server. It's probably best to send it to an empty ".asp" page or something.
Changing Payment Options
In the "paypal1.asp" file there are some sample payment options set up.
They look like this and you can have as many as you like.
<!-- Begin Payment Option Code --> <form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post" target="_blank">
<% Label = "Membership (1 Month) $9.99 Recurring" %> <!-- Begin Form Fields You Can Edit.. See PayPal Subscription Manual For Details --> <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1"> <input type="hidden" name="no_note" value="1"> <input type="hidden" name="a3" value="9.99"> <input type="hidden" name="p3" value="1"> <input type="hidden" name="t3" value="M"> <input type="hidden" name="src" value="1"> <input type="hidden" name="sra" value="1"> <!-- Field Below must have 2 commas First two values are optional (access level,groups,user ID)--> <input type="hidden" name="custom" value=",,<% =User_ID %>"> <!-- End Form Fields You Can Edit.. See PayPal Subscription Manual For Details -->
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="form_data_inc.asp"--> <input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/images/x-click-but20.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!">
</form> <hr> <!-- End Payment Option Code -->
To really understand what these form values mean it is best to look through the PayPal Subscriptions Manual which is a PDF file you can get from the PayPal Site.
This link was valid the last I checked... Subscriptions and Recurring Payments Manual
It also may be helpful to use their wizard to create some subscription buttons with different settings and then look at the code generated.
Bascially these are the important ones..
a3 - amount to billed each recurrence
t3 - time period (D=days, W=weeks, M=months, Y=years)
p3 - number of time periods between each recurrence |
The custom field is something we are using to send info from ASPProtect to PayPal. it allows you to set the access_level or groups access (groups support require the ASPProtect Option Pack)
<input type="hidden" name="custom" value=",,<% =User_ID %>">
or this example where we are setting the access_level to (2) and also giving the user access to groups (3 and 4)
<input type="hidden" name="custom" value="2,*3*4*,<% =User_ID %>">
Here is how it works. The value setting (red) is essentially and array that can be made up 3 elements separated by comma's
access_level,groups,User_ID
If you do not want to set the access_level or groups access.. then you don't even need to edit the setting.
Values must be separated by a comma even if there is no value and there can be no spaces. If you didn't want to set an access level or groups there would still be 2 commas at the beginning. etc etc Basically there must always be 2 commas but you only have to set last values which is the User_ID from the ASPProtect system.
The 1st value is the access level you want to user assigned to. The 2nd option is the groups you want the user assigned to. (requires option pack) The 3rd option is the User_ID which the system takes care of. Do not edit this option. Leave it as <% =User_ID %> cwilliams38421.7141782407, If I would like a link on my web page that will take someone to the login page (I would also like this page to contain forgot passord? and register) I am not entirely clear what file to link to to do this. Would it be check_user_inc.asp?
Thanks in advance?
cwilliams38456.0972106481, I believe what happened is we received the older copy of ASP Banner iwht our purchase of ASP Protect and were notified of a free update to download aspbanner_unlimited_v8.2_feb_26_2005.zip which we did, and that's the one i recently put on our site.
Sounds from your reply that something technical is going on to the point where I will have to hire one of our Web consutants to dissect for us. We'll try again and track our issues and send another request for information when we can show you a specific example of what is happening. I'll be in touch. , Just wanted to let you know that after modifying the remote host string in the email pages and getting the correct connection from my server, everything is running fine.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation.
thank you adam , It sounds like permissions... to the database folder specifically they are not correct
It could also be that your odbc drivers are very new and you are not using a new enough version of the access Database. I recommened using the 2002-2003 verison of MSACCESS
Now.. if using a SQL Server Database permissions to certain tables are handled in enterpise manager cwilliams38303.5892708333, Perfect exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks , Not really sure how to do this.... i think you know what i am looking to do.. is there anyway you can show me or create that solution for me? It would prob. take you minutes as its been taking me hours , Yea.. that error is totally because the asp pages are looking for fields in the database that are not there.. and causing a nasty loop.
if using the option pack you must go over the directions very carefully... Make sure everything works step by step..
After upgrading to option pack code you either need to upgrade the database from the base system or use the newer database provided with the option pack.
Then.. you want to test every function of the groups.. if pages act slow and seem odd... especially the groups page and edit users page.. Then your not using a valid database. Either you didnt upgrade the old one, are not using the new one, or your connecting to an older verison by accident and not realizing it.
That's pretty much it... cwilliams38300.5555671296, How do I change the character length for the description field? , Is there any way to extend the limit multiple login feature to a certain number instead all or none? In other words, i need to have a user be able to use the same login for x number of people. My customers are institutions and want to be able to have a single login for however many users they purchase for. , SQL Server Database Information Mod
This mod is only for customers running SQL server. It is a new stored procedure and a new version of the "server_info.asp" file that will display information about your SQL database on the Server Info page.
Purchase Page

This is for Advanced SQL Users only that understand how to add a Stored Procedure to a SQL Database as well as assign permissions and what not.
To install this mod you should have access to SQL Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer as well as be able to grant your SQL database user EXEC permissions on the new stored procedure. , you password protect an asp page in your site "where that is is up to you"
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo171-1.htm
then you link them there from your own pages
thats all there is to it
is that what you are asking?
Additionally...any page you password protect automatically becomes a login page... where you want to start and where you send them after or before login is something you have to handle on your own
Any pages you pasword protect will prompt the user for login info if they are not yet logged in that is.
Then once logged in it returns them to the same page they are showing the page content as it would normally appear.
cwilliams38455.7128356481, I dont get it.. I am still looking into it..
I think this has something to do with your original experience when things would work and then not work.
something weird is going on , thats actually just the xml parser component barfing out on you.. it can't handle the load of being called so much on that server
you might want to try some of the other methods of calling banners, I have a need for more than the current number of custom fields currently available in the registration form. Is there a documented method of adding additional fields or am I not able to do so?
Thanks,
Dave ,
