Please forgive any ignorance on my part.

Using the live demo, it seems that with the banner software my advertisers would only have access to reports, but no ability to upload banners, specify keyword triggers or zones, what have you. Is this correct?

The other thing I couldn't quite figure out, assuming I had a categorized directory on my site, is this system configurable to display different banners based on category? Perhaps through keyword triggers?

... in addition it is a virtual include not a file.  I just tried to use file instead of virtual and then the ../ includes worked on the asp pages.

This is strange because they used to work like that on the 2000 server I had these sites running on.

I would check out this article for starters... aspprotect is very similar to asp photo gallery and so are a lot of the page names.

If ya dont like that solution why not just use periods for the first name field.. or a dash or something... then nobody will really see it

or maybe store the company name in the first_name field

(Password_Email_Confirmation_Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x

This will change the basic registration pages so that the email address and password entered must be confirmed when signing up. This eliminates the auto generated password during signup.

Some may prefer it working this way.

Directions:
Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.

Copy the two new files into your "users" folder

"register.asp"
"add_new_account.asp"

Hello- I am trying to install the ASPPROTECT product and tried to read all the docs but still am getting the following error:

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x1980 Thread 0x1458 DBC 0x223c374 Jet'.

I understand about the physical path for the DSN-less connection and followed the example given. I got in touch with tech support for the host of my site and the give me the following as a physical path:

c:\sites\Single20\laptv1\database

Some observations:

1.- The database directory is outside the root dir but I think I am accounting for it with the path

2.- The permissions are ok

Any ideas?

expiration dates are not used in aspprotect's database when signing someone up using PayPal subscriptions because the PayPal system keeps track of all of that and will automatically send posts to the approtect system if a user needs to be deactivated for not paying or for whatever reason.

As you will notice in that thread about subscriptions the paypal signup data you use for the person determines their membership pricing and details..

Basically the system takes care of everything.
PayPal takes care of everything.

However you want to look at it.

I am getting the same error looking at the previous post, I looked in settings and my Registration-URL is pointing at the correct location.

Seems like its working just got to test it bit to see, though it wasnt going to work as I had one too many End If's after the last part of the code you done for me. But even I eventually sussed it, nothing to do with your bit just another mistake on my part

well, you should probably be backing up the SQL database on a regular basis. That is between you and hosting company. If they let you connect via SQL Enterprise Manager you can do backups on your own.

As far as the aspprotect files and folders go back them up somewhere, and then only worry about backing them up again if you change some of the files.

That's really all there is to it. None of the ASPProtect files change on their own except the generated log files that you may or may not care about backing up.

I mean the important thing is the Database, and then of course any your own .asp pages that you protected as well as any custimizations you made to the users area or your site...

Post a request in the "custom code work" forum.
Perhaps another customer will want to do the work or help you out with some code.

I am just too busy to do any custom work for quite a while.

If you still cant see the upload buttons after checking the settings send me a PM with the info and I will take a look at your installation. It will have to be up on a live server of course.

recent activity infomation is temporary and mantains itself per application start up.. when the web application restarts for whatever reason the info is reset

a reboot, an iisreset on the server, application pool restarts, etc etc
this is done because if that info was saved in the database your database would get huge real quick

logfiles however do not do that and are permanent

I don't fully understand what you are explaining ... the part about showing a user but not working???? but if you PM me the details I will glady go into your live webserver and see if I can get it working.

We are emailing a weekly newsletter via the Newsletter feature.  Many clients complain that they are not receiving the newsletter.  The emails are not bouncing back indicating that they possibly are not being sent to begin with. 

Is there any way we can determine if ASP is making it through the entire database of subscribers?

The company is called Eschelon - there customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I have contacted them again and they said that they require the account holder to manage permissions, they won't make changes. I wish they would have told me that a week ago when I asked them about changing the permissions. They haven't responded to me yet how I am to do that though.

Frontpage ext. are not installed.

Once I hear back from them about how I connect to manage rights I should be all set.

The Read-only attribute i was referring to is at the windows explorer level when looking at the folder properties under the general tab. 

ASPNET and IUSR have full access to the _database folder as you suggested - Yet still I get the permission error noted above.

I can't seem to find the code where it limits the upload file size. I want to limit the upload size to 1.5 mg for all users. Also I've noticed that the 500 pix doesn't seem to work. As in if an image is bigger than 500 pix the script still uploads it. i am using Upload_post_VBSCRIPT.ASP.

I have gone back to your original files and uploaded them to another server folder and instead of using a DSN I have tried this with a DSN less connection and changed the database to MS Access 2002.

This has corrected the problem.
I will check this out again using the DSN with access 2002 to see if this was the problem. It may be something to do with an older format of database on this particular server.

I will let you know what I find.

sorry ya had trouble.

Something very strange is happening.  Some users can't see the classified ads in their browser.  This is specific to the user's computer, and they can check other computers and see it fine.

In each case, the user is using windows explorer 6.0 browser with windows xp.

they can't see the ads listed on the ads page, but they can see the categories.

also, they can't see the place ad link on some pages.

Do you think that their browser is blocking the javascript for the mouseover message?

a) is the upgrade available very soon as I don't want to spend the time developing one and than find the other released shortly & 

b) would I only need to pay the difference for the upgrade or have I already downloaded the upgrade already.

I cant see what version I current have.
