Say, is it possible to get something to whack every totally inactive account? Preferably joke ones that nobody every actually logged on with.
I'd want to have it delete the account if the following conditions were met:
1. Active = NO
2. Counter < 1 or is a null value
3. Access <1 or is a null value (some people may have logged on and let their accounts expire, so they may want to log back in again with the same info)
I suppose an advanced version of a mass delete tool would allow the admin to select different parameters, but there would DEFINITELY need to be a "Are you sure? REALLY REALLY SURE???" step in there to make sure you didn't toast your database without being stupid twice in a row.
If I knew ASP code, I'd write it myself. I don't, so I make a pitch for a new feature...

the microsoft xml parser is generally installed by default on all new server setups..
It allows ASP code to make calls to other pages anywhere on the new as well as a lot of other handy things..
download and run this ".asp" page to verfiy that it is installed and be sure it is available for you to use

I have orded a Access Bible to help me in furture , I wasnt talking about the date for a banner ad.. I was talking about the date field in the database for a USER if there is one (I dont remember if that app had date fields for user or not and I am not at a computer to take a look)
If you do not know how to directly open up and edit the database then yes you should just make a new user, where is your site ? I'll taka a look , if you are talking about IPN subscriptions and how they work paypal has detailed manauls on their site.. if you are talking about asp.net in general there are probably a lot of good books..
the reason I said look at the aspprotect 7 code is cause the applications and database are very similar and the same techniques will apply for the most part as far as how the ipn subscription posts from paypal talk to the database and what happens during the various post events.. etc etc etc , I have been able to successfully edit some text colors, but there seems to be one page that wont change the text color. Inside the users/ folder, the login.asp page, i cant seem to change the text color from ffffff to 000000 so it can be read on my background color. Every page in the script is correct but this one.

The site owner couldn't see their own ads because Norton was blocking anything with the word ad in it.
On another note: I changed the word 'ad' to 'listing' and got it to show even with Norton.
, You can't do that. ASPProtect 7 does not work with ASP.NET.
It is a classic ASP application. As the web site states it can only be used to protect ".asp" pages written using vbscript.
ASP and ASP.net are completely different animals.
Thats why we have a .NET version.

even though they are basically the same page , That is by design, removing and deleting are two different things as far as the classifieds system goes.
A regular user can only remove an ad from the category index. (which makes the ad inactive)
An admin however can truly delete an ad from the system. , the no concurrent login feature is based on IP addresses.. if you logged in again using the same IP address it would let you in regardless. So for example if you were behind a rhome router and logged in to a site on the internet it would nt matter if you had multiple computers at home because they would all have the same external IP address... etc etc
In other words it is tricky to correctly test..
I really need more detailed info on everything going on. I real world scenarios there are no issues with that feature that I know of. At least according to customers so far. , Which page should a user see next after completing a Paypal transaction? Where do I set that?

, I think you can either change some things in your PayPal account settings regarding your default currency..
or add a hidden variable to the PayPal form code ASPProtect uses like this guy did.

The hidden form variable code would go next to all the other hidden variables in no particlar order.. just look through the paypal code in notepad till you find a bunch of those hidden form variables lines in a row. , Once you have the LANGUAGE = VBSCRIPT and Checkfor = 1 on your page,

ultimately though after all that is going is it is out of the hands of the asp code and it becomes issues other then the code sending the email... regarding to whether or not emails get blocked by certain organizations
For example:
I have many aol users sign up for various systems I have running without issue. I use CDOSYS with my own server mail.cjwsoft.com which has proper MX records set up.
I would also try to determine the difference between blocking and spam/junk email filtering. It is impoirtant to truly know what is going on.
Sometimes adding more information to the body of the emails going out will eliminate the junk mail filters from gettings the emails.
Then you have the various open relay lists that places like AOL use. If your email server or IP sending the email is on those lists for spamming you do not stand a chance. That is all out of the hands of the ASP code.

This user showed me his site and things were working for me as they should.
We came to the conlusion that the weird behavior he was experiencing was because he was using AutoComplete in Internet Explorer....
It was automatically filling in the fields with his username/password that he had autocomplete save.

That being said asp photo gallery actually has a few more places that send email that you going to need to modify as well. Off hand the reply to album, admin massemail, admin send email,and postcard features come to mind possibly as 3 of them.
using a multiple file search and replace utility like ReplaceEm would be the easy way to do all of this in one step and find all the instances

I dont know exactly how you go about that and it would really depend on a lot of things like when the ad started and how yu wanted t handle that. it would involve custom coding though, not a change in the database. , I just installed ASPProtect on my site. The instructions were definately on the target. Very very good instructions.

I needed to setup my site with MS SQL and it is hosted so I don't have Enterprise Manager. I tried the web based Enterprise Manager and any other one I could find. But, I kept getting errors when trying to use the SQL Script.
I finally had to go back to my work where we do have the licenses and get an SQL Admin to use Enterprise Manager to run the script and it worked finally.
I don't know if this is a common problem ??? But, maybe you would want to look at the SQL Server script or make a different version that would work with the Web Based SQL manager.
Thanks , The PayPal feature that is in ASPClassifieds has always been labeled as experimental and has never been supported as the documentation says. About a year ago I stopped even mentioning the feature on the product pages or in the live demo because I didn't like how it worked and I decided I would just market the application as a free based classifieds. It’s just not something I can support or talk about. To work really well it really needs to be coded to use PayPal IPN and a credit system. Where ads and various extra features cost so many credits and people have to buy credits before they can post any ads.

I have a strange problem with the thumbnails in the ASPClassifieds.
If i upload some pictures in an ad, the 2nd picture always shows with an x, as the picture doesn´t exists. But if i click on the 2nd thumbnail, the picture shows okay. I haven´t changed enything from the original code.
Does anyone have any idea, where it goes wrong ?

if you want to PM me info on how to get into your site and I will take a look.. I don't think it is something that can be figured out otherwise especially when you are not telling much about what is going on. There are a lot of factors and settings that are relevant. , I would say that it isn't all that difficult using mySQL for the backend....the main thing is to make sure you set the primary keys for auto-incrementing in your database. Alos need to make sure that any DELETE SQL statements are formatted like this
DELETE FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
and not
DELETE * FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
The same holds true for using MSSQL ,
