Oh, it does seem to put the photo in the correct directory., That carrot doesn't really exist in the file, so I'm not sure.
I did download and place the ASPTEST file in www.drsweisberg.com/asptest and when I try to load the 2 pages it fails to load. I have another site on the same server and I uploaded the same exact set of files and the asp pages load. www.klarman.com/asptest

However, I do think it may be related somehow to the code as I get the messages popping up in the error log only after I have edited a banner.

My customers are institutions and want to be able to have a single login for however many users they purchase for. , Sorry, you cannot, that is how it works and that is how it has to work for reasons I am not going to try to explain as it is pretty technical. (it works the same way even when not using paypal and using email authentication... nearly every registration system out there does it that way under an email authentication scenario or a PayPal IPN thing.)
Basically, if you are concerned about it you need to periodically manually check for accounts that were never activated and delete them. Maybe when I get some time some day I will make a little interface to help find those and clean them up at once.
, We have been using ASP Protect for a while now and are big fans of the program. We received ASP Banner 8.2 with our puchase which we now have a need for. I went to put the files on our webpage, and doing nothing else other than locating the directory there, I noticed differences with how ASP Protect operates. We have customized it a bit and want to keep the 2 programs separate. the login screen for one showed up on the other, and some ASP Protect pages appeared altered so i immediately deleted ASP Banner. did I do something wrong, and how can i ensure the 2 programs work completely independant of each other? We can't risk braking what we're now using but would really like to add banner functionality to some of our pages. maybe an update to the program before we install? puchase new software? , Personally, I think that is something you should work into your existing site code or something you should handle on your own.
It's basic site maintenance issues.. and something every webmaster must deal with on an individual basis. If you are going to upload a new version of some large file of course you should go disable wherever people are dloading it from and then wait/re upload/turn things back on.. etc etc
It is not going to be a feature of ASPProtect and I don't see why it should be. If you want to have some sort of global site is temporaily down thing you should have a common server side include on all your pages right after the password protection include file. In that include file you could easily stop site access with a response.end and also show a message.
Or you should disable a file download page manually on a file to file basis.
Really, big busy sites that have their sh*t together use versions of files for a reason. Every new upload is a slightly new version revision and has a slightly different file name They do this partially to eliminate the problem your talking about and also because that is the way it should be done. Nothing gets uploaded over itself ever. Even if there is a mistake in a file they upload a new revision and document it in the revision/changes file. And of course they dont show users a link to a new file revisions until it is uploaded.

Was the code changed ? Thats the big one. If it worked and now it doesn't something must have changed. Things just don't stop working on their own. I would try putting the original files back in there for everything but the config and dataconn files just to make sure and see and if it works with the original files. (back up your old ones 1st so you can copy them back of course)

Using the live demo, it seems that with the banner software my advertisers would only have access to reports, but no ability to upload banners, specify keyword triggers or zones, what have you. Is this correct?
The other thing I couldn't quite figure out, assuming I had a categorized directory on my site, is this system configurable to display different banners based on category? Perhaps through keyword triggers?

, ok, well that should not be a problem then.. its meant to be able to be put in a folder like that.. just make sure the folder is not a subweb or anything like that... meaning dont set the folder up to have its own application in IIS. Just use a regular folder of course that is part of the root iis application.
Perhaps you just didnt edit the paths in the settings like I mentioned., Just installed sofware everything works fine except I see no way to upload any photos. There is no reference or link to allow an upload on any of the asp pages (I have surfed them all). I am sure it is something simple, but I am not aware. I am using SQL2000., Interesting.. Yes, the SMTP service is turned on. This is my boogle. If they are both installed, then it should in theory work. , Access Database Password
By default all of the Access Databases we give out have a default password of "temp"
The Default username that and Access database uses is "Admin" but you should not be concerned with that except in your connection strings.
The default password for the Access Database can only be changed using Microsoft Access to do so. If you have security concerns it would make sense to change the password. I've just recently purchased ASPBanner and have been testing out serving multiple Tradedoubler code using the IFRAME method. I have four types of banner on the same page refreshing every 15 seconds. (this will change on the live site)
I've been leaving the IE page up for x hours and coming back to find between 1-3 of the banners has stopped and in place is an "internal error".

I thought it may have been the SQL permissions from one of your other messages so I gave the banner user the DataReader and DataWriter permissions.
Its still happening and around the same time in the logs theres a couple of file not found errors.

Colin , huh? I think I just covered that as that is the way it must be done., Now, back in the dark ages we had to use the command prompt to setup the MySQL database and all that fun stuff. I am not going to show you that method.
What happened was 100 different 3rd party companies developed interfaces to work with the MySQL server visually. Within the past year MySQL actually released its own little GUI for doing just that so I am going to show you how to do things using that.
Let's download and install it.
Go here
http://www.mysql.com/products/tools/
and download Windows (x86) MySQL Administrator
(1.1 is the most current version at the time of this article)
Installing that is a no-brainer as well. Just stick to the defaults and it will do its thing.
Now that it is finished.. run MySQL Administrator from your start menu.
It will ask for your "root" password that we entered when we set up the server.
Hit OK
You should see this if your MySQL server is runnign and you entered the correct password.
Now select the Catalogs Icon on the right.. go down to the Schemata section.. right click in the lower white area and choose Create New Schema
It will look like this
Essentially this is your database name. I am going to call my database "aspbanner"
Hit ok
Your now have a new database with nothing in it. We now need to run the MySQL database creation scripts that I provide which will create the Tables and Fields needed.
The easiest way when using the MySQL Administrator is to select the Restore icon on the left.
The choose "Open Backup File" in the lower right corner.. Browse to the "aspbanner_mysql.sql" file we provide. You can also download that file here. 2006-03-14_164927_MySQL_Script.zip
Once you select that file choose open...
Now, it is very important you choose the database you created earlier. Also known as Target Schema.. in this case I choose "aspbanner"
Now hit "Start Restore"
Ok, now the database has Tables and Fields
Click on the Catalogs Icon on the left and then select aspbanner from the schemata area in the lower left
You'll see we now have tables in the aspbanner database, Is there a simple way to upgrade from 7.x Lite to 7.x Full? I was testing out the software and I just purchased it. I have made some look and feel changes to the lite version (ie: login page), but no look and feel changes to the admin section. Is there certian files that I can add to have the full version without shorting myself features or functionalbity?

When viewing a list of albums with the navigation option 1, is there a way to get the Time Created sort to list Newest to Oldest, instead of Oldest to Newest.
Looking at the code in albums_navigation1_inc.asp, I can not determine how this works.

If you'd like to remove, modify, or add fields to the "Users" view in
the password_admin default.asp page, it's really easy to do. Well, at
least it was for me. I'm using an MS Access database, by the way.
For me, I don't need "Company" info, but I do need last access and # of
times accessed displayed. Therefore, I had to change the default page
in three areas:
In /password_admin/default.asp, go to about line 185 or so, where you see stuff like:

OK, those are the column headings. Each one corresponds to a column
from your USERS table in your database. There are two more areas to

See the "First_Name" items? The first is for an ascending sort, the
second for a descending. This particular line corresponds to the code
snippet immediately above it. But all this does is handle the sorting.
For the actual data, look lower for this stuff:

It's a good ways down, so don't be impatient if you don't see it in 10
lines from the end of the last mentioned section. This stuff handles
the display of the data from the database (where else ya gonna get
data, anyway?)...
Now, to remove a field, you need to find the three sets that go with
that data. The ascending/descending sort is potentially the trickiest,
because it's the longest set of data and can take a number of lines.
Just clear it from the start td to the end /td and you'll be fine.
To *add* a field, copy and paste the code from an existing field and
modify it. In the first one, the column title, you can type whatever
you want to describe your info. Nobody but you and your admins will see
it. For the next two sections, though, you need to get the correct
column heading from the USERS table and use that to correct the lines
in the copied code you pasted in.
For example, when I added a column to show the number of times a user
logged in, I copied the above snippets and pasted them in where I felt
the column I needed should be. Then, in the first one, I changed "First
Name" to "Logins". In the ascending/descending snippet, I changed
First_Name to Counter. Same for the last snippet.
The result? A new column, showing the number of logins my users were successful with.
Of course, before you experiment, back up your existing default.asp file, JUST IN CASE.

VBScript is the most popular ASP scripting language, and has the most support available. I estimate that less than 5% of the ASP coders out there use anything other than vbscript
That being said it specifically says on the aspprotect site ASPProtect is only for use in protecting asp using "vbscript" as the language.

Sorry, but you can not use ASPProtect to protect pages using Language="Javascript". The code is too complex to be mixed with server side Javascript.
To password protect asp pages written using "Javascript" you really need a an application specifically written in and designed to work with ASP pages written using "Javascript". And then of course that application would not be able to protect ".asp" pages written using "vbscript." (I mean never say never, but it would be a ton of work to get both working and I doubt you will ever see a commercial application that does both)
as for switching back and forth between vbscript and javascript you really can't except with very simple code. Doing so with anything complex can be extremely problematic because the order of execution sometimes gets all mixed up because of the complexity of the code being used.
That doesn't mean it can not work....
You would really want to do something like this.
do not specify a default language at the top
surround the aspprotect include file with this

surround your javascript code with this
<SCRIPT Language="JavaScript">
</script>
then make sure none the code including the aspprotect include file has any <% or %> tags in it
that means you have to remove that sort of thing everywhere... that means a lot of work if you used a lot of that sort of thing instead of response.writes to write out html type stuff

Is that a real term or just something you named it cause they have like a zillion people using that SQL server? I have never heard of that name ?, Just want to be able to log users in from the home page via a username and password box somewhere say on the left hand side with a login button. Like most sites have.... i cant seem to figure out how to do that with the software.
My other question is..Is there a way to incorporate this software into an event registry? What i mean is this:
Say a company is having a pool party, BBQ, and tennis lessons (just examples)
When a user registers with aspprotect i want him/her to have the option to register for one of the events. Also, I as the admin, would like to be able to view who and how many registered for each event...
