I pull that crap on myself once and a while... or my
favorite is leaving a bootable CD in the drive and then wondering why the heck
the OS doesn’t come back up. I pretty much promised myself back in 2002 that I
would never mess with anything minor after 10PM. For whatever reason I always
start messing around trying to "fix" something and end up sorry...
Granted if it’s an emergency I am all for it, but I get dresses in advance
anticipating the practically inevitable drive down to the datacenter.

Just bought ASPProtect 7.0 last week and just got around to installing it. I've gotten through the installation and am now trying to test the (Forgot Password) functionality.
I get the following error when I type in the e-mail (or in some cases the username) and Post the form.
Error was [11004] Valid name, no data record of requested type
I know that the add user functionality is pointing to the correct database (I see the additional rows via SQL Enterprise Manager) and that the e-mail address I am looking for is in the SQL database.
Any ideas? Any other information you need?

, ... in addition it is a virtual include not a file. I just tried to use file instead of virtual and then the ../ includes worked on the asp pages.
This is strange because they used to work like that on the 2000 server I had these sites running on. , If we wanted to user groups, is the "Access Level" in the User setup the same ID as what the group access would be? Ex. If John had Access Level 4 and the page specified <% GROUPACCESS = "4" %>

I'm asking because there is no Group Access Level in the user setup. Thanks , There are problems with your sql server database then. It was not set up correctly.
The 1st problem relates to having "used stored procedures" checked in the settings page.. but not actually giving those stored procedure execute permissions which they need to run. That is something that must be done on the SQL enterprise manager side of things either by you if you are allowed or your hosting company.
If you can not get the execute permissions set on the stored procedures for the sql database user you are using then turn off that option in the settings page and try things without it.
The 2nd error I am not sure of at this point so correct the 1st issue and we will go from there. It could be another sql database issue (not created correctly) or it could be an asp code issue of some sort though I doubt that or other people would have had problems on that page as well. I also just tested it out and looked the code over and I did not have any issues here. , IT worked just as cwilliams said. I did see the IP address being stored in the table but it didn't dawn on me that it was tied in to the view count, I tried it from a different IP address and it worked great .

one more question.
To use the bulk upload feature of aspuload, do I just need to add another upload section to the same upload page, that will allow more than one file to be selected then tell it to put the files in as Photo 1, 2, 3 etc.? I am a rookie at ASP but I think this is possible and with a little research I should be able to get it going.
Just want to make sure I am on the right track.

If I'm updating the large files on the server and someone attempts a download, they'll get a partial ZIP file or an error.
, I know what is happening.. its the old single quote thing messing up the query string..
but it shouldnt be happening with the newer code as I fixed it.
If you like I can go in and reproduce/fix the issue. I can not think of any other way I can help you as other users have not reported the issue.
Chances are if it is happening in one situation it will happen again in the future.. it really all depends on the passwords being used and your encyrption key... other passwords may produce the issue even if the password is correct
basically once the password gets encrypted it by chance has a single quote in it... then it messes up the query
I take care of the situation by replacing the single quote with a double quote but it looks like you found a situation where that didn't work out

I'd want to have it delete the account if the following conditions were met:
1. Active = NO
2. Counter < 1 or is a null value
3. Access <1 or is a null value (some people may have logged on and let their accounts expire, so they may want to log back in again with the same info)
I suppose an advanced version of a mass delete tool would allow the admin to select different parameters, but there would DEFINITELY need to be a "Are you sure? REALLY REALLY SURE???" step in there to make sure you didn't toast your database without being stupid twice in a row.
If I knew ASP code, I'd write it myself. I don't, so I make a pitch for a new feature...

For starters are you using the delayed stats feature ? that is expirmental and could cause that problem , MSACCESS or SQL server ?, Are there any problems with modifying the default database fields.
I need to have an update from net billing and they use different settings in the database than the default.
Will the interface still be functional?

dazed , Making progress. I have made the appropriate settings and now I have the option to upload. When I upload, I get the following message:
"Your upload did not succeed, most likely because your browser does not support Upload via this mechanism.
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
I am using IE6 XP SP2. I also am using DUNDAS UPLOAD, ASPIMAGE.
I think I set permissions correctly bot not positive. I have given all auth to everyone for the database etc. ,

I am sure you know that many virus that are sent via email have the same property. (double extension). The code can be executed even though Windows identifies them as simple text files etc.

and dont worry about the extra slash it seems to be adding at the end of the path. That is normal. I guess I need to fix that so it does not add that extra slash., You really should just look at the documentation that came with the application. It tells you everything you need to know.

(These are non-critical updates.. only update if you want the described changes below)
These updates do the following..
- Make the Tabs in the Admin area move up and down as you navigate around so they look more like tabs used in a file cabinet.
- Updates the import/export process so the tab delimited text files created now store the passwords in plain text instead of encrypted. I have been thinking about this one for a while now and I think it is better this way as it was confusing a lot of people. If can also kill the whole process if by chance the encrypted output of a password contains a line break of sorts. There is no way to deal with that scenario so this is way the import/export process is going to work from now on. This also means you should be VERY carfeful about leaving export files lying around as they will have the passwords in them.
- Updates the "expected_paths.asp" in the data folder because the paths it was generating had an extra "data/" in it.
- Updates the users page so it will not show the import/export link if you have not entered a path for the export files in the settings.
- Adds an Activity Tab if using the Activity Tracking features instead of the links it used to put on the users page that most people didn't see.
To install these just copy them in over the old files.
Now of course back up your existing files so can revert back if there is a problem or you do not like the changes. If you made any custom changes to any of your pages use your head and realize that copying these in over your existing files will overide any custom changes you made. (that is your business, I am just warning you)

Pages you protect include that file at the top.. when they someone goes to a protected page if not logged in a user then sees a login prompt..
after loggin in they see that same page as normal
its an automated process..
now, that being said if you really want to you a specify a page to be redirected to after the 1st login when you edit a users info. You can also redirect anyone anywhere like using a simple ASP redirect statement in your code.
Personally I feel that redirecting people all over the place is poor site design. ASP is all about dynamic code and ASPProtect is all about dynamically tailoring pages to the current logged in users... so why redirect people all over the place.. it justs complicates things because you still need to password protect the places you send them to.... which means twice the work and twice the confusion.

, That worked...but when I tried importing the test user, the password was imported in an add formated...like it was encrypted, and I can't log in using the User ID that I imported., I am running into problems with the import function. I have 25 photos loaded into the import folder. The page see all of the photos. But after I click on the import process it takes me Picture Manager with no pictures loaded. Also be sure to have no double asterisks

You would do so using the built in import/export features of msaccess and being very carteful about it. It is not a process we support and the technique used would be unique to any situation. Its basic database work though but still you have to be able to do it.
ASPProtect uses its own user database and you have to use that database. ASPPortect can not authenticate users using some other existing database.
