the no concurrent login feature is based on IP addresses.. if you logged in again using the same IP address it would let you in regardless. So for example if you were behind a rhome router and logged in to a site on the internet it would nt matter if you had multiple computers at home because they would all have the same external IP address... etc etc
In other words it is tricky to correctly test..
I really need more detailed info on everything going on. I real world scenarios there are no issues with that feature that I know of. At least according to customers so far. , when you get back to work.. your "redirect.asp" needs the password include file at the top of it.. or that wont work either..
and of course those pages you send people to all need to be repaired ,
I have seen that happen before though it usually just happens once and then after that it doesn;t show up. It's the asphttp component doing it. The ASPBanner system is not doing it. I would try using banner calling method such as the xml parser method. Did you by chance edit the code by adding LCID info or something like that ? Something is just very wrong.

2nd I always recommend using CDOSYS before any other email component. All servers have it running by default and ASPProtect supports some a html editor if you use that component. I would give that a try as well. It's the best emailing option.

For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.

These are my personal notes on the new version of ASP Photo Gallery that should be out sometime in May/June 2004. Please ingore any typos.
This version may be more expensive than the current pro version as this is a major re-write and there will be a ton of new features.

it attempts to determine the possible data paths and makes suggestions for what to try
when you finally get the data connection working it gives you a link to the admin area of the application
so you can get started using the application
all database table names can be specified in the config_inc.asp file for advanced users that they may need
to change the table names in the database.. helpful for sql installation where one sql database must be
shared by many applications
new data folder is the only folder that needs permissions set
before multiple folders needed permissions
now everything can be put in this folder... database,logfiles,configuration files,picture upload folders...
eventually all cjwsoft applications will do this allowing multiple cjwsoft applications to use that same folder

Made search function highlight search word in results.
Made the search function search the image description text files as well
Eliminated the guestbook directory as there was no need for the guestbook to be in it's own directory. This also simplified the menu.asp file as the guestbook section could be removed.

it is very cool cwilliams38325.8264583333, 5300 users honetly wouldn't even phase the database or the code... even with MSAccess...you got other problems and I can say that with 150% certainty
my guess is permissions on the database folder are not quite right or the odbc drivers have issues.. something along those lines..
access databases act up when full modify permissions are not given to the folder they are in.... they can also act up if the odbc drivers are very new and you are not using a newer version of the access database such as 2002 version as opposed to a 97 or 2000 version
using a system dsn as opposed to a dsn-less connection can also cause BIG issues. always use a DSN-LESS connection
you can also have big problems if just the database file is given permissions instead of the whole directory it is in
also, the script timeout has nothing to do with it.. if that is happening something is wrong with the data connection like I said... no amount of changing timeouts is going to cure it...

I know it worked at 1st but it can still be related to all of this because when permissions are not perfect databases will work ok for a while and then act up. it all has to do with the temporay lock files that access creates and deletes on a regualr basis

Steve , I have been using this solution for over a year now and think its great, however I recently logged on to add a banner and when I clciked on the link that opens a window, displaying all the gifs in the directory../images/banners/, now images showed up, however they do exist in that directory.
I recently upgraded my computer and am now using windows XP...could that be the problem?

Again, thanks! , I believe I'm having trouble with Domain masking in that it appears to affect the ASP Photo Gallery login screen.
My address is forwarded and masked by my domain "company" (in this case: Godaddy.com). It is forwarded to a Win2000 Server running at my static home IP.
From outside of my network, the website appears to work fine...even the default.asp page works to the point of the login page. After entering a login and password - you hit the login button and the page simply reloads only with all of the header and footer information removed.
I found that by eliminating the domain masking feature at the domain company, the problem gets eliminated and the entrie site works fine.
Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm guessing it's the way the domain name is held in the browser cache but I'm not sure how to resolve it so that the ASPPhotoGallery scripts and pointers work correctly.

I have aspprotect in its own directory in the website. I have read the installation several times and I am afraid I am missing something blatently obvious so I really appreciate you thoughts.
I am presently using redirects. I like not haveing to use them as your comments have suggested. I have pulled all that code from the pages I desire to protect during this test.
I have three test users in my database - 1 administrator

, thats actually just the xml parser component barfing out on you.. it can't handle the load of being called so much on that server
you might want to try some of the other methods of calling banners, Your customer should set up a special page that you send banner clicks to. That page is the page that should record the ip and whatever other info needed.
I suppose you could make a page on your end that records that info and finally redirects them to the intended url as well.
All using simple asp. It's really not that dificult to do, but it is a loit easier if you do it this way and keep it seperate from the banner system.
Here is some interesting information not totally related to answering your question.
The banner system does not track IPs on individual clicks because if it did.. 100 clicks on a paricular banner in one day would result in 100 rows in the stats database instead of just 1 row. That may not seem like a lot, but imagine 30 banners all doing the same thing mulipled by 30 days. Your talking 90000 rows in the database instead of 900. It all comes down to what ASPBanner was designed for which is performance and low resource use.
Some banner systems out there even keep track of individual IP's per banner display. Try to imagine how much that effects performance and how much extra space is used in the database for stats. It's crazy and also the reason that the more little features a banner system offers the slower and slower it begins to run.
I am sure I lose sales all the time because I offer less features, but the truth is I know those features will eventually defeat the purpose of why I created this banner system in the 1st place and that i just not something I want to do.

, Parent paths being enabled on the server is a requirement of the application. That error means just what it says.
you can change all the server side includes to virtual includes that will work or you can ask you host to enable parent paths.. those are the options

the reason I said look at the aspprotect 7 code is cause the applications and database are very similar and the same techniques will apply for the most part as far as how the ipn subscription posts from paypal talk to the database and what happens during the various post events.. etc etc etc , If you PM your site info and I can go in and troubleshoot. We installed our key onto the live server.
However, since our temp key has expired, we can't access our application on our development machine because the login won't work anywhere except on the live server.
Of course we can access the application on dev, if we remove the aspprotect tags, but if we need to log in to do something unique to the user, then we have a problem.
Can we get another temp key from you? And would there be a better long term solution to this debug/maintanence issue?

I have ASPprotect 7 installed on my remote server. I am able to go to the examples/default.asp page and login in without any difficulties. If I copy the code from that page and paste it in a new page called the same thing but in a different folder, I get this error; (Keep in mind that this is essentially the same exact page in a different location of the website)

I get the same error if I paste the "protection code" I have generated into the top of a current (.asp) page in my site.

The admin box is selected in the database under the admin user and i can update my user information (password and Address, not username). Everything is stored in one database. And yes there is more than just the users table.
Also, removing the "temp" password should be a piece of cake.

Pages you protect include that file at the top.. when they someone goes to a protected page if not logged in a user then sees a login prompt..
after loggin in they see that same page as normal
its an automated process..
now, that being said if you really want to you a specify a page to be redirected to after the 1st login when you edit a users info. You can also redirect anyone anywhere like using a simple ASP redirect statement in your code.
Personally I feel that redirecting people all over the place is poor site design. ASP is all about dynamic code and ASPProtect is all about dynamically tailoring pages to the current logged in users... so why redirect people all over the place.. it justs complicates things because you still need to password protect the places you send them to.... which means twice the work and twice the confusion.
