If a picture does not show after uploading it is one of the following things.
The upload method chosen is not supported on the server or The physical path specified to the pictures folder is not correct. or The URL to the Pictures folder is not correct. or Permissions to the pictures folder have not been set properly
Here is more information on how permissions are set.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo136-1.htm http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo56-1.htm
Without more information and the settings you have entered and chosen that is all I can offer for now. , and did you response.write that session value to see if it holds anything to ensure it is being set ,
no, you cannot unless you plan to write a lot of custom code.
That is why the option pack has groups which eliminate the need to use access levels because groups can do everything access levels can and more.
There is an article here regarding that. http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=32& PN=1
cwilliams38303.5555439815, IMPORTANT UPDATE - READ THIS http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=205& ;PN=1
The IPN Support Pack which is built in to ASPProtect 7 contains all the pre-built scripts you need to implement PayPal IPN with ASPProtect. IPN stands for (Instant Payment Notification). It allows you to set up scripts on your server so whenever a PayPal web accept order is processed the PayPal server sends info to your server regarding the transaction and vice versa. This is a fully automated process and allows you to charge users for access by the month or however long you like.
This Support Pack basically gives you an additional signup and registration directory "paypal_signup" and it should not interfere with any changes or customizations you have made to your ASPProtect setup in general. New users can register in this directory and pay for membership at the same time. Existing users whether active or expired can be sent to this directory where they can lookup their account and buy additional membership time online. You can also assign various Access and Group Levels during signup and you can set up various prices for various amounts of time as well. This is a real-time setup for the most part. As soon as a user pays via PayPal your system is updated and they will have access.
To use this all you need to do in ASPProtect 7 is enter your PayPal account name into the settings screen. It will be an email address. You'll need a business or premier account with PayPal and you will need log into your PayPal account and turn on IPN in you profile. They make you enter a default IPN URL. We do not use that so if you already have something there leave it there. If you dont have something there you can type in any the full url to any page on your server. It's probably best to send it to an empty ".asp" page or something.
Changing Payment Options
In the "paypal1.asp" file there are form options set up.
They look like this and you can have as many as you like.
<option selected value="30,9.95,3,">30 Days, 9.95</option>
In this option... A user has the option to purchase 30 days for $9.95 and he will be set to Access Level 3 when payment in completed.
Here is how it works.
The value setting (red) is essentially and array that can be made up 4 elements separated by comma's They must be separated by a comma and there can be no spaces. In this example the 4th value was not used but the last comma must still be there. If you didn't want to set an access level and left out the "3" there would 2 commas at the end. etc etc Basically there must always be 3 commas but you only have to set the 1st 2 values which are days and price.
days,price,access level,groups
The 1st value is the amount of days. The 2nd value is the price for the amount of days. The 3rd value is the access level you want to user assigned to. The 4th option is the groups you want the user assigned to. (see PayPal subscription thread for examples of specifying group info)
Now, the label for the option in (blue) can say whatever you like. cwilliams38421.7143981481, I do not really know a lot about but it is basically code that lets you specify however many number of images and links... and then display a certain number of them at once.
You'd have to search google for it.. there are 1000 of sites that offer free javascript code and that is where you find scripts like that.
You could certainly set up all the images and links for each banner in aspbanner but if you used them with code like that you be limited to tracking clicks on banners. Tracking page impressions would not be possible because the javascript would be handling what images get displayed at any given time. Basically each link for each image would be going through aspbanners tracking url feeding it the banner id and therefore tracking the click and sending the user to the desirec URL.
Regardless, it is not something I would support. You would have to sort it out as it is nothing ASPBanner was designed to do and not something I want to deal with because client side javascript code is not something I am NOT very good with. , I have seen that happen before though it usually just happens once and then after that it doesn;t show up. It's the asphttp component doing it. The ASPBanner system is not doing it. I would try using banner calling method such as the xml parser method. It's usually installed by default on 200 and 2003 servers. cwilliams38248.6400115741, ok, I got it all sorted out for you and aspupload seems to be working now.
Basically they seem to have an odd version of it installed and I had to tweak the code a little. I also uploaded the server info page in the admin area to test for it.
Just back up the gallery folder so you have a backup copy of the modified code.
CJW , that variable comes from the settings acreen in the admin area. If you do not have it set properly things like what you are describing will happen., like I said... you would have to modify the code (and really I dont think it is possible, how could it be when images uploaded are of all shapes and sizes)
How are pictures of various shapes and size going to resized to a fixed width and height without distortion on either a horizontal or vertical level ? Uness the image uploaded matches the fixed thumbnail ratio you have set there is going to be distortion.
There is no component that is going to make it any easier. You are already using an image resizing component.
I give you two options the way the code ships.
fixed width and height for thumbnails
or
fixed width / dynamic height for thumbnails
The only other possible option would be
fixed height / dynamic width for thumbnails
and that you would have to code on your own because that option is not there
The last thing I will say is this. Sorry, but I do not support custimizations to the code. It's just not easy to explain. Its a lot of code work. Its a lot of time. , Regarding (ASP Photo Gallery Pro)
If you are looking to import a very, very, large number of images, the upload feature might not be sufficient for you. I have done some work using a unix terminal to be able to upload as many images as I would like by simply placing the images in the directory and renaming the images. There are other ways to rename the images, but I am very familiar with Linux, so I chose to do it this way. If you are running Linux, MacOS, or another Linux-based OS, you can simply pull up a terminal and run the following command in the appropriate directory. If you run Windows, I'd suggest CygWin, which creates a Linuxenvironment (Linux shell). It can be found at www.cygwin.com In order to be recognized by the ASP software, the images must be in the format of pic_"Album Number"_"Picture Number".jpg . Therefore, the following code is run to accomplish the file name change (on one line without wordwrap):
ls -1 DSC* | sed 's/DSCN//g' sed 's/.JPG//g' | awk '{print "mv DSCN"$1".JPG pic_9_"$1".jpg"}' This command will change all files beginning in "DSCN" to "pic_9_*Picture Number*".
This does have a slight problem however. If there is a large number of pictures, 0's become a problem. For example, if there are 200 pictures, picture 1 will show up as pic_9_001.jpg. This can be fixed by the following command, which will eliminate unneccesary 0's (All on one line once more):
ls -1 --color='never' pic_9_0* |sed 's/_0/_/g' |sed 's/pic_9_//g' |sed 's/.jpg//g' |awk '{print "mv pic_9_0"$1".JPG pic_9_"$1".JPG"}'
This command eliminates 1 zero. It should be run as many times as needed to eliminate all zero's.
Please Note: These commands will only show the resultant set (The list of picture names). In order to execute them, they must be output to a shell script using the ">" character as follows:
ls -1 DSC* | sed 's/DSCN//g' sed 's/.JPG//g' | awk '{print "mv DSCN"$1".JPG pic_9_"$1".jpg"}' > temp.sh
Then, the shell script must be run using the following command:
sh temp.sh
This might take a few moments, depending on the amount of picture names that are being changed.
IMPORTANT: BACK UP all files before changing file names. Also, view the resultant sets to make sure it's what you want before outputting to a shell script.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post or e-mail me @ JPortnoy@checkernet.com cwilliams38210.5703009259, I was actually able to do similar thing by allowing our dedicated search engine to access the site unchallanged.
<% If Trim(Left(Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_USER_AGENT"),11)) = "MYPASSWORD" Then SearchFlag = True End If If SearchFlag <> True Then If Session("Access_Level") > CHECKFOR or Session("Access_Level") = "" Then %> <!--#include virtual="/Auth/check_user_Code.asp" --> <head> <title>My Title</title>
</head>
<body>
My Protected stuff here
</body>
</html>
For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.
Thanks,
Mo , YAY FOR ASPPROTECT 7!!!
Now I need to know... how can I automate PayPal subscriptions and purchases? I'd like it so that once PayPal gets its money, my accounts get marked active.
Now, the documentation on this site currently says, to point the IPN post action to a null page. Yet, I see an IPN.asp in my files for PayPal subs and PayPal purchases... Looking over the code there, I see actions to make accounts active and stuff like that. Is the page ready for prime time, or should I hold off for a new version? cwilliams38421.7014814815, Its a great idea. I didnt really check the counter until the album started working. Its a great concept though., Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.
Thanks,
Dave , I have ASP Photogallery running and it seems to be great, but I would like to allow uploads using DUNDAS the problem is I can't seem to find it on the linked website. I did find an EXE install in another place but I am running on a Shared Host (Godaddy) and can't run an executable on it. Where can I find Dundas and is there a way to install it without running an EXE??, I downloaded the skins, ftp'd them to the skins folder and can see them in the list of available skins. No matter which one I try to apply it keeps solid_color_black.
Al , hi,
Sounds like permissions.. the text file that the config file data is not being written to.
open the file "data/config/aspbanner_unlimited_config.asp" with a text editor and see if your values are getting saved.. if they are not its permissions to that folder and file as far as not saving config settings goes.
You may also want to check out "data/show_path_info.asp" which if run from the browser has info on manual/alternate setup scenarios.. as far as what directories you put things in and also editing the config file manually.
lastly make sure the filesystem object is not disabled by something like norton script blovking or something similar which can also cause trouble regarding writing to text files.
, Have tried doing that but same error...
, The setting I am most interested in is what you have for the "Pic_Max_Image_Width" used when the image resizing components resize the big image
setting it to nothing or zero could cause this
, Sorry you feel that way, not my intention. I'm not threatening anything. I was very happy you responded when did so there no reason for any bad feelings. I like your product as I said before and have no problems with it. Sorry again, that was not my intention. Merry Christmas… , Am very interesting in purchasing ASPProtect, but am curious as to whether anyone has had success/failure with Network Solutions "standard windows hosting" solution? Thought I would ask just in case someone has had recent experience. thx, , Message :
I purchased the V8 of the software yesterday. It is running on a 2000 Server with a MSSQL database. It is installed and I get the successful connection to database screen but when I click to enter the admin. console I continually get:
"Connection string not saved in (data/config/aspbanner_unlimited_config.asp) file. Most likey the data folder does not have proper permissions set on it. That folder and all of the folders within it need (R,W,X,D) Permissions set for the anonymous webserver account. These permissions can generally only be set by your hosting company."
I can save the string manually by hitting the button and I have checked that I have granted the proper access permissions. Any suggestions?
Ken, 1) Does everything, i.e. every user, every category, every product, etc., get stored in just one single database, or are there multiple databases at work and are linked to one another? I am asking because there is only one table in the DB, and it is the "Users" table. So I am presuming that there must be other databases that are linked to the DB. Is this correct?
2) Are user-level security permissions utilized in the sample Access DB that is shipped with the software? I am asking because we cannot seem to remove the "temp" password no matter what we try, and this is the only reason I can think of. , Humm, I can see all those pages loading just fine at both domains so you got me pretty confused at this point as you just said they didnt load.
regardless, the data connection tests are failing with both of them.
so let me ask you again how are you setting permissions on the database folders? , it's ok
one step at a time and at each step testing things.. then when you mess something up you can figure it out a lot easier cwilliams38456.1106018519, The ASPProtect v7.x Documentation is now available as a download in windows ".chm" format. (needs to be viewed on a windows based machine that can read it) If you are using XP with Service Pack 2 follow the instructions below or you will not be able to view the help file.
Download Documentation
You should save this file and then open it. Just opening it from download may not work and you will not be able to read it correctly.
Please continue to check the support forum threads for the most up to date documentation.
IMPORTANT If your are using xp with service pack 2 there are some new security features that can block the access of help files you download. So as far as the ".chm" file goes.. you have to download it... right click on it...go to properties... then choose unblock down in the lower right corner ...then you can open and view the file correctly , I am still a little confused... one thing I would like to mention is that the passwords in the aspprotect database are encrypted... meaning you cant just add a password to the user database by hand because it wont be the encrypted value and wont work.
It is something the application takes care of when you add a user via the web based interface.
You can however still add users manaully or with careful import/exporting... but you will have to use the existing password conversion technique which is covered at the end of our upgrade instructions in these forums. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo174-1.htm
Basically you want to add a field to the "ASPP_Users" table called "Old_Password" and that is where you enter the password in plain text. Then after you are finished adding users to the database manually you do this.
You want to run a special page via the browser.
http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp
Which will convert the passwords to the encrypted value for you. See the bottom of this thread for all the info on that. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo174-1.htm , ya,
any variation of a site url is going to have its own set of application and session variables.. soy you have to be consistant with your navigation links
example (for anyone that comes across this thread)
http://www.examplesite.com/somepage.asp
is going to have a different set of application and session variables then
http://examplesite.com/somepage.asp
even though they are basically the same page , I assumed when it said "expected path" that it understand that was the default and unless I wanted it in a different directory I could leave that blank. I'm checking on it now., Well, hold everything.
Looks like I did it right. The latest user showed up in the correct group.
I guess the ASP pages had to refresh at the server or something...
It's still a great product, BTW. Almost five years for my enjoyable ride with ASPProtect!
, Also.. if you want to customize each person's experience individually it really does not make sense to use groups or access levels for that purpose alone.
I mean, why bother making a group or access level for every user and worrying about keeping track of it all when you can just access the available session info about the user to create dynamic pages specific to that user.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=198& ; ; ; ;PN=1
That is why that information is there.
You can of course use some combination of the two technologies as well should you have groups of users that you want to have a slightly different experience. cwilliams38433.6259606481, Does ASPProtect 7 work with SQL 2005?, The file check_user_inc.asp as the lines: (which include Session("groups")
Here we set some valus about the user into session variables Session("PasswordAccess") = "Yes" Session("Access_Level") = CmdCheckUser("Access_Level") Session("Admin") = CmdCheckUser("Admin") Session("Active") = CmdCheckUser("Active") Session("Expiration_Date") = Expiration_Date Session("User_ID") = CmdCheckUser("User_ID") Session("Groups") = CmdCheckUser("Groups") Session("Redirection_URL") = CmdCheckUser("Redirection_URL") Session("Password") = RC4(CmdCheckUser("Password"), PasswordEncryptionKey) Session("Username") = CmdCheckUser("Username") , ok, I am going to do that in the next few hours. I cant do it right now as I have a few other business's and something else needs my attention right now.
Chris, I think I have successfully integrated Paypal but seem to have a slight
issue. Once a person has entered the Paypal site but cancels their
order, the ad is still placed on the site. The optimal way for my site
to work would be to cancel the ad once the Paypal process has been
cancelled. Any help would be great.
Thanks
, Here is the complete page with the error message:
============================================================ ===
Unspecified error
This means there is most likely a problem with the "ConnectionString" info that you specified.
If you are using a DSN-Less Connection with MSACCESS.
Check that the physical path to the database has been specified correctly. It has to be perfect and correct. It cannot be specified using "http://" or by using "server.mappath". It has to be specified like the following example.
ConnectionString = "DBQ=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\advpass_pro\_database\passwords.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=admin;PASSWORD=Xpass"
If this is running on an NT server or Win2000 Server make sure that permissions have been set on the database. Only the server admins can do this. If you are not the admin you will have to ask for this to be done.
If you are using a System DSN
It is not set up correctly. Again, make sure the permissions have been set for the database and that the system DSN has been set up correctly by the server admins.
============================================================ ===
I am the only one on the site since I just transferred the files and in the testing phase. It is using an MSAccess DB
, Hi,
You see, an include file is no different then a link to an image or graphic. The path to the include file must of course be valid. That file isn't in the same directory as that page so you get an error.
You simply need to make the call to the include file valid.
See my article on server side includes. http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/includes.asp
You should also look at some of the provided example pages and see how the paths to the include files are done.
You can also use a virtual include if you figure out the page for that. See my article for the difference between a file include and a virtual include.
The code generator in the admin area shows examples of both but depending on your site structure the paths may need to be slightly edited.
Server Side Includes are a fundamental part of using ASP and they are used a lot. Once you understand how include files are used you will think it is the simplest thing.

http://www.minwar.com/24 , (User Photo Upload Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This will allow an individual user to upload a user picture instead of just the admin.
Notes: This is a down and dirty mod. The user upload code was copied from the admin area and there are no safeguards. Meaning there is no limit on the file size a user uploads and there is no confirmation process in case something they upload is inappropriate. etc etc etc
If you want that you will have to work on that on your own.

Directions: Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
copy these files into your "users" folder
2006-01-24_111305_User_Upload_Mod.zip , Hi there,
Just bought ASPProtect 7.0 last week and just got around to installing it. I've gotten through the installation and am now trying to test the (Forgot Password) functionality.
I get the following error when I type in the e-mail (or in some cases the username) and Post the form.
Error was [11004] Valid name, no data record of requested type
I know that the add user functionality is pointing to the correct database (I see the additional rows via SQL Enterprise Manager) and that the e-mail address I am looking for is in the SQL database.
Any ideas? Any other information you need?
Thanks, Toni
, Yep, thats my thinking as well.
On the test server I have the site connected to a SQL 2000 db with the sa account, so it should have full control. But still no luck.
However, on the test server, I connected to the Access 2002 db and it works fine..adding user, adding categories, adding albums.
