Just checked XML Parsing with your file. Got a clean bill of health on that: It's working.
Got the right code for the location of the ipn.asp in my paypal1.asp, from http:// all the way to .asp.
I think since everything is set up properly from the looks of things,
I'll wait and see. If I get another one who flubs things, then I'll
start the testing of the account. But if it goes through just fine,
then maybe the Internet just hiccoughed on the first guy... thanks
again!
, i downloaded the latest version. i also downloaded the sql script provided and ran in sql query analyser to create the tables.
After that i ran a special page to intially get into the system,
then setup a new user, then make them an admin,
and after that i logged out and again when i try to login iam not able to login. When i check the ASpp_User table I noticed that the values in the fields "Login_limit" and "Active" in the ASPP_Users table in the SQL changed to NULL and 0. But if the value are Nulls or 0 it means it's not active and it's not allowing me to login.
Pls advice
,
yes, admins have access to absolutely anything...
as for the other question what you should do is only show links to people logged in that they have access to.. then they wont get logged out when they go to a page they do not have access to
for example if someone doesn't have access to a level 4 page dont give them a link to go there... you can do that by checking the session variables and creating your hyperlink html code accordingly .. using simple if-else logic... you could even make a hyperlink non-clickable and add some text to it like (no access)
it's all about taking the time to intelligently designing the different areas of your web site. It takes a bit of time and work to really make a system flow the way you want it to.
other than that it becomes extremely complicated to not grant them access when they go to a page they dont have access to but also keep them logged in. It is just not designed to flow that way. If someone goes to a page they do have access to they get logged out. It sort of has to be that way because of the ways things flow.
more info on accessing user info after login so you can do that http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo198-1.htm
another good thing to check out is the provided examples for mutliple access levels. You can see that if you log into the default page for that that it only shows you links to pages you have access to. Done with simple if-else logic around the html links. It is using groups but you can do the same sort of concept using groups. , Thanks, I really appreciate you working on this. The software works GREAT and the support you give can't be beat. I will definately tell other that are looking for software for their sites to check your first.
one more question.
To use the bulk upload feature of aspuload, do I just need to add another upload section to the same upload page, that will allow more than one file to be selected then tell it to put the files in as Photo 1, 2, 3 etc.? I am a rookie at ASP but I think this is possible and with a little research I should be able to get it going.
Just want to make sure I am on the right track.
Thanks , I believe what happened is we received the older copy of ASP Banner iwht our purchase of ASP Protect and were notified of a free update to download aspbanner_unlimited_v8.2_feb_26_2005.zip which we did, and that's the one i recently put on our site.
Sounds from your reply that something technical is going on to the point where I will have to hire one of our Web consutants to dissect for us. We'll try again and track our issues and send another request for information when we can show you a specific example of what is happening. I'll be in touch. , I don't believe that the iframe method is supported in a .NET (aspx) implementation, is it?
JDooley , Its not a known issue.. I would try the original code before you made any changes and see if it still happens to you.
It seems to be working fine here for me in amy test web.
I am going to look into some more in the meantime.cwilliams38341.7166782407, The Read-only attribute i was referring to is at the windows explorer level when looking at the folder properties under the general tab.
ASPNET and IUSR have full access to the _database folder as you suggested - Yet still I get the permission error noted above. , Oh snap. Tried the blank database and got the same errors. Fixed THE
FILE PATHS to conform to the AspProtect 7 setup, and it worked like a
champ. I still need to copy and paste the info, but it's working just
fine with the ones I add manually.
Moral of the story: FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER.
, Gotcha.
Can you set an expiration date on a subscription?
Thanks,
Jess , one thing to note... the time period we are talking about is going to to be whatever you have the session timeout set at in the settings.
perhaps making that value lower like 10 minutes is an option for you.. and might help to deal with situation
, Our home page is not showing up gives this error:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'

/Default.asp, line 246
The include file 'elib/articles/home_feature1.asp' was not found. , ya, that firewall could mess that up.
just edit which ever style include you are using (with a text editor)
it will be one of these depending on your settings.. and they are located in the "scripts" directory

It did not increment the "hits". , CDOSYS is the way to go usually... My article may shed some light on the different ways to send email using CDOSYS http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/sending_email_cdosys.asp
As for eliminating the registration its pretty much like what you said.. manually remove the links and what not... etc etc and dont send users to the registration pages..
If you dont want people to be able to edit their info ever... or retrieve lost passwords.. you can delete the users folder completely..
though it's probably better to leave some of that stuff and just disable the registration links and page...
The paypal and 2checkout folders can be wiped out completley either way as you won't be using them at all. , Hi,
We use ASP Protect to password protect the pages in the member area ( http://www.pti.org/members.asp )
Of late Once or twice every month our whole site goes down and it gives us a "Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800a006 Overflow: Clnt //global.asa line 33 " error message (with the friendly message turned off). When we reboot the web server things are up as normal.
But this is happening too frequently and creates a bad impression.
Any suggestions on how we could prevent this would be greatly appreciated. , While my host says the permissions are now correct....its still trying to download the setup ASP file instead of executing it.
I really need to get this application working asap too. I noticed the purchasing page said that install came free.....so any help would reaallly be great.
re , New question...
When someone edits their personal information, such as address, is there any way to set it so that someone in the office can receive an e-mail noting the changes?
Thanks. , well, assuming that function works and is vbscript not vb (if it is vb code it may need some conversion work)
anyway
in "users/add_new_account.asp"
you would put the code for that function anywhere in the page.. it does not matter where as long as it is in code tags <% %>
then.. right under this part of the same page
If Zipcode_Postal_Code_Required = True Then If Zipcode_Postal_Code = "" Then ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You need to enter a Zipcode_Postal_Code.\n\n") End IF End If
add this
If Check_Postcode(Zipcode_Postal_Code) <> True Then ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You need to enter a Valid Zipcode_Postal_Code.\n\n") End If
No guarantees but that is the gist of it cwilliams38381.6456828704, I have connected to countless DB's using my own applications written in dreamweaver and have tested them on my own server and also my web facing one. BUT this seems to be different. no matter what I try I still get this error.
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x440 Thread 0x6b0 DBC 0x1f995bc Jet'.
On both a windows 2000 server and also a windows 2003 server. Also using both DSN and DSN less connection and oledb.
Any help would be greatly apprectiated.
Thanks , Chris -
Sorry, I am looking at your code on view_item.asp and I have noticed that you are calling 3 variable; start_date, end_date, and image_url that do not exist in the databases that you provided. Do I have the updated package for ASPVendor?
, You shouldn't be renaming or moving anything... unless you really really understand what you are doing and are at an expert level expert as far as ASP coding goes.
like I said earlier.. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=354&ge t=last#1130
redirecting with version 6 is not supported but this thread tells you exactly how to set it up (I showed you this thread in an that earlier post)
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=17&KW= redirect
This thread below may also help in case the page you want to start on with a login form should not be password protected..
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo18-2.htm , Hi there,
Just bought ASPProtect 7.0 last week and just got around to installing it. I've gotten through the installation and am now trying to test the (Forgot Password) functionality.
I get the following error when I type in the e-mail (or in some cases the username) and Post the form.
Error was [11004] Valid name, no data record of requested type
I know that the add user functionality is pointing to the correct database (I see the additional rows via SQL Enterprise Manager) and that the e-mail address I am looking for is in the SQL database.
Any ideas? Any other information you need?
Thanks, Toni

,
Both
the NET and Classic ASP versions of this application are designed for
fine granularity protection of individual apsx extension files.
ASPProtect.NET is not designed or intended to protect sub directories,
or non aspx content such as Adobe Acrobat .pdf files etc etc.
I
completely disagree with your statement that “most sites” have a login
box on the left hand side of the page. I suspect you thinking of the
ever popular php based forums and “Nuke” type CMS systems which are set
up that way but if you look at any site written entirely using .NET
that’s rarely if ever the case. (Granted I cant say for sure because I
personally haven’t looked at >50% of the estimated 18 billion + web
pages on the internet) Just off the top of my head www.CafePress.com
come to mind as a pure .NET site. If you take a look the login button
it takes you to its own login page there is not global login form used
throughout the site. Reason being that .NET introduced this thing
called a “view state” which is used to store things like your session
ID (and way more) and must be posted back to the server in order to
keep track of visitors. This technology comes in especially handy when
you have a web farm in place and your content is being spit out out by
more than one server at the same time
I
can think of loads of scenarios where the web servers need to know who
you are even though you are never directly contacting them via http.
This approach is a very smooth and actually very clever solution for
enterprise level websites that simply can’t be handled with a single
web server.
On
a practical level I know what you are saying but that application sets
up all sorts of things when a protected page is accessed and the user
is not yet authenticated. That’s the entire reason you need to put that
snippet of code at the top of a page you want to protect. That code
snippet calls the ASPProtect.NET class and runs through all the logic
to see if you are able to access the page. If you are the subroutine
exits and the server continues to process the remaining logic on the
page. AKA you are able to access its content. If you are NOT
authenticated ASPProtect will setup all the proper session and
viewstate info and redirect you to the login page for authentication.
You may have also noticed a parameter on the login page called
ReturnURL. The application looks for that info and if you do have a
user ID and password the application automatically redirects you to the
page you were trying to access in the first place.
Really
I have no idea what you are trying to do, but there is a world of
difference in how something looks verses how it works. Lets just say
there was a simple way to do what your thinking, what are you going to
do with that login form after the person logs in? Just keep displaying
it on the entire site so people get confused and don’t know if they are
logged in or not? Just that little part of the equation will require
making some changes to either ASPProtect.NET or your application will
have to have some logic built into it to stop displaying the login
forum.
It
sounds to me like your basically looking for a super simple 101 type
deal that allows people to sign up for an event and you the admin can
see that information? I’m guessing they can also log in again and check
out their details and see what event they signed up for?
If
that’s the case you’re trying to take a very sophisticated protection
application and downgrade it into something that would be one heck of a
lot easier to write all from scratch in about an hour.
Your
not going to be able to “plug and play” a simple form into a page and
turn that application as a magic universal login solution for a
website, while its 100% possible to use the application that way if you
choose, you need to check out the source code and plan your custom
integration accordingly.
, They send an email?
Hope my spam killer didn't zap it...
, I have ASPPhotoGallery installed. Everything has been working great for some time. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, I am not getting the "Hits" incremented when a user opens an album. It works when an administrator is logged on. Does not for any anonymous users. Everything else seems to work fine. Again, this used to work. Any ideas. , Hi Chris,
I've got a page with a form that includes an input field with
'type="file"' for uploading an image. The page posts back to
itself to save the info to the database and run the code necessary to
upload and resize the image.
I need to limit this page to a group. So like usual, at the top of the page I put:
<% GROUPACCESS = "1" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="../check_user_inc.asp"-->
This gives me the error: "Cannot call BinaryRead after using Request.Form collection"
I have used ASPUpload and SA-FileUP before and know that this is caused
by the components having their own .form collection. This script
is using "Pure ASP File Upload" from DMXZone for the upload which I'm
not familiar with.
So...my question is, do you know a way around the BinaryRead problem wtih ASPProtect?
Thanks,
Michelle
P.S. PLEASE don't send me to DMXZone for help....they've got notoriously bad support!
, that is good news... good guess on my part I guess
anyway, try this for your latest issue.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=340&KW =%2D1, Just having the database with members does not protect the page. You need to add the appropriate code to every page you want to restrict access to.
You need to click on the Groups tab in Admin. Click on Generate PW protection code. Click on the basic button if you don't want to include levels or groups or choose a level or group(s) and click the appropriate button. Paste the code that's generated into the top of an ASP page in code view.
Is that what you're looking for?
Michelle , if that account isnt there thats normal because if it doesn't have any permissions for that folder so it wouldnt be listed
you simply dig into the menus a liitle deaper and find it then add it. cwilliams38417.6984606481, You not getting a blank page.. you getting an error. You just can't see it because it appears you edited the page background to black.

, Where is the system getting the random user name and password, and why does it keep selecting the same user name and password every time?
, No problem. I get it now.
I added a Session Variable for "Counter". Then wrote an If statement around that. When the user logs on for the first time they see a window pop, after that the normal start page.
Thanks
, recently i've been getting a lot of unspecified errors. i've been running aspbanner for about a year and a half now. i don't know what would have caused all these problems. also, for some reason it won't maintain my log-in, ever time i got from page to page or try to submit a form it asks me log-in again.
Jason S. cwilliams38389.8791550926, I'm getting this error when I try to login:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
/gallery/users/login.asp, line 19
The Include file '..dataconn_inc.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory. , Chris, I'm having problems getting this to work. When I plug in the redirect URL and then try to load the web page, the Flash ad never loads successfully - just its black background in the 468 x 60 space. Here's an example of what I'm seeing:
http://www.innovationtools.com/Articles/ArticleHeadlines.asp
Just keep refreshing the page until the black rectangle appears. And here is the code I've loaded for this flash ad:
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase=" http://active.macromedia.com/flash2/cabs/swflash.cab#version =4,0,0,0" ID=banner WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60"> <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE=" http://www.innovationtools.com/aspbanner/aspbanner/banner_re direct.asp?Banner_ID=25"> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#000000> <embed src=" http://www.innovationtools.com/aspbanner/aspbanner/images/ba nners/mindmatters_innovation3.swf " quality="high" bgcolor="#3CBDCD" WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE=" http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Pr od_Version=ShockwaveFlash"> </OBJECT>
What am I doing wrong? By the way, I'm using the standard version of ASPBanner. Not sure of the version, but it dates from about 2002. , I am having problems with a password a user wants to use. He wants HANNAH. When he (or I) try to log in with his username and password, I get a syntax error -
Syntax error in string in query expression '(Username = 'changedforsecurity') AND (Password = ' éG'. pathOnComputer../1protect/check_user_inc.asp, line 114
I've obviously changed the username and the server path in the info above for security.
I have not messed with the encryption.
What is it that the system doesn't like in the word HANNAH as a password? I would just change his password for him but this guy has enough trouble just turning the computer on! Confusing him with a new password would take weeks to set him straight.
Thanks, Mick
