Things have now changed I found out godaddy has persitis aspUPload and aspjpeg as value added products, I have the aspjpeg working but have been unable to upload when using aspUPload, everything works fine with the vbscript method so I think my permissions are correct. Whenever you get a chance, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark , My Admin user got corupted, and I need to reset the password and user, what is the defualt password for this database, as I do not think I have changes this (hopefully) as of yet.
Regards,
Paul ,
I'm using version 6 upgrade and recently some of the users complained that their passwords are no longer working. I was able to replicate the problem as I also experienced the same thing with my account.
Once I reset the password thru e-mail (Forgotten your password?), I am able to login but it fails later. This is weird as I have an identical copy of the code running flawlessly on my test server.
The only change which I made to the original downloadable code is by adding password encryption using Base 64 encryption.
Any ideas what might be the problem , Wondering what might be causing a long delay to display the login screen? This does seem to be intermittent. Could be server/ISP related? Have experienced enough times to justify posting this question.
I can count up to 20 seconds after clicking on the link. After login all other selections zip right along without problem.

Thanks, Lance lancem38319.6117939815, Chris,
D'oh! How completely obvious!
I got it now. (In Step 4, by the way, you need to click on the web site, not the directory. The directory has its own Properties menu, which is competely different than the Properties menu for the web site.)
Thanks for the fast response!

, I swapped a few emails with CJW regarding support for ASPMail.
This application works with this software. I host my site with a
private hosting company named 'Intermedia.net' and this is what I had
to do to make this application work.
1 - Change email settings to 'SASMTPMail' installed
2 - Find all instances of the following code:
If ASPMail_Installed = true then
&nbs p; Set Mailer =
Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
Else
&nbs p; Set Mailer =
Server.CreateObject("SoftArtisans.SMTPMail")
End If
Change this code to simply:
Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
3 - that was about it. The files that I needed to change are:
/users/email_password.asp
/users/add_new_account.asp
/gallery_admin/approve_album.asp
/email_friend.asp
I believe that's all i needed to change. Any questions I'd be
happy to try to help out. [CJW -- for some reason i needed a
restart on the server, it's all good now
http://www.iphotosite.com/galleryapp/default.asp. I'll be putting
in a redirect for that location/domain later today.

, Is there a simple way to upgrade from 7.x Lite to 7.x Full? I was testing out the software and I just purchased it. I have made some look and feel changes to the lite version (ie: login page), but no look and feel changes to the admin section. Is there certian files that I can add to have the full version without shorting myself features or functionalbity?
Thanks , YAY FOR ASPPROTECT 7!!!
Now I need to know... how can I automate PayPal subscriptions and purchases? I'd like it so that once PayPal gets its money, my accounts get marked active.
Now, the documentation on this site currently says, to point the IPN post action to a null page. Yet, I see an IPN.asp in my files for PayPal subs and PayPal purchases... Looking over the code there, I see actions to make accounts active and stuff like that. Is the page ready for prime time, or should I hold off for a new version? cwilliams38421.7014814815, ok, I just sent you a private message with download information.
replace you existing
"check_user_inc.asp"
"admin/check_admin_inc.asp"
"admin/email_user.asp"
with the new versions in the download
Do some testing to make sure that HANNAH password works ok for you.
Hopefully this cures the issue... If it works ok for you for a while I will offer the fixes to everyone and start using this code from now on
BTW: "admin/email_user.asp" had an unrelated bug in it that only happened if its error handling got triggered... it was posting back to the wrong page when that happened and causing an error ,
grrrrrr
As far as the users thing... my fault that was setup wrong in the settings of the admin login page.
but still dont have a solution for what im trying to do , It is common when testing a site that this happens because of the nature of session variables.
Admins have access to EVERYTHING so it is very important when testing different user accounts that you specifically log out... and then close every single browser window before logging in as a different user. This is to ensure session info from the previous user does not overlap in any areas. (The session variable for admin access being the main one)
Under normal circumstances a user would not log in with many different accounts on the same computer this this would only be a problem for a developer who is testing.
So make sure you go to the to log-off page and log off.. then close all browser windows.. then test another user.
If all this is not the case then something else is going on and I will need more information. I pretty much know the level checking code for ASPProtect Version 6 is correct as there has been no reason to change any of it in over a year. I would have heard reports of problems with it. , I'm all set - after thinking about your replies - i checked a bit more and changed the email component type -- thanks again for all your help. , Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.
Thanks,
Dave , in that file "upload_post.asp"
change
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Response.End End If %>
to
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Then Response.End End If %>
, its part of how the skins load.. regardless you got bigger problems here..
I am beginning to wonder if you unzipped the download correctly because I see things in folders they should not be in...
you should have ended up with a bunch of folders and files...
It you just ended up with a ton of files in one directory you did not unzip the zip file correctly... if so check your zip program settings.. I mean that error is because it is looking for a file in the skins folder that isn't there and it should be there
better yet, unzip the downloaded zip file using windows xp built in unzipping features which will do it correctly... , sorry.. you just said above you were using XP SP2 so that is the article I referred you to as I just assumed you were talking about your local web server
here is my article on permissions regarding server 2003 http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_2003_server_and_ permissions.asp
I can look at your installation monday if you like. In about an hour I leave for a wedding thingie and I wont be around again untill monday around noon
Try the uploading using VBSCRIPT method just for the heck of it. Perhaps there is an issue with the installation of the dundas component.

, Just got back 10 minutes ago.. Missed plane yesterday because of traffic and the flight today was 3 hours plus 4 hours of driving
The fact that you are using Server 2003 is not relevant. I am very familiar with it and all my sites run on it.
The ASPNET account will be there by default once the .NET framework is installed. It won’t just show up in the list, you have to search for it like my article mentions.
http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/windows_2003_server_and_ permissions.asp
That error really means exactly what it says. You have to give that account permissions correctly. , no, you cannot unless you plan to write a lot of custom code.
That is why the option pack has groups which eliminate the need to use access levels because groups can do everything access levels can and more.
There is an article here regarding that. http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=32& PN=1
cwilliams38303.5555439815, (Indemnification Agreement Mod)
This very simple mod will add an Indemnification Agreement Pop-up to the registration signup form which must be agreed to before continuing. This is often done for legal reasons to help cover yourself if something should come up later on.

Instructions:
Download 2006-03-19_212700_Indemnification_Agreement_Mod.zip which contains "terms.js" and put it in your scripts folder. It contains the text that will be displayed in the pop-up. You can of course carefully edit it with a text editor to say whatever you like.
Now carefully edit "users/register.asp" with a text editor. Add this bit of code in blue right after the include to the "footer_inc.asp" file like so. It will be near the bottom of the page.
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="footer_inc.asp"-->
<% If ErrorMessage = "" Then %> <script language="JavaScript" src="../scripts/terms.js"> </script> <% End If %>
Your done, that's it. Now when "users/register.asp" is run for the 1st time the pop-up will come up. , right..
I had to open up the permissions to get it to work. I now have to go back and uncheck each one for directory listing.. :)
, We can't seem to find the purchase emails for this install of ASPProtect.
It would have been in May 2004 for NetOptions LLC or CareerMatrix.com
We noticed it should have been v6 of ASPProtect.
Can you resend the download links? , Now that I think about you may very well be able to use the existing login_form_inc.asp page
the header and footer files for the users area may be ok as well.
probably the smart thing to do is try your old ones and compare them to the new and see if everything you need is there. If not add it by looking at the source html and comparing.
All other files should definetly be replaced with the new. , I have ASP Photogallery running and it seems to be great, but I would like to allow uploads using DUNDAS the problem is I can't seem to find it on the linked website. I did find an EXE install in another place but I am running on a Shared Host (Godaddy) and can't run an executable on it. Where can I find Dundas and is there a way to install it without running an EXE??, This is the error that I am getting when I try to add a banner...
[code]Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e09'
EXECUTE permission denied on object 'sp_ASPBanner_GetZones', database
'aspbanner', owner 'dbo'.
/aspbanner/appinfo_inc.asp, line 67[/code]
also, when i go to the banners tab i see this in the banner list...
[code](3 Banners Found)

/aspbanner/banners.asp, line 306[/code]
Help., This server is sitting in my den on a DSL circuit, so I don't have a hosting company. The install for Windows 2000 server is with default settings for all components installed.
I am not sure what you are referring to when you say:
"Does emailing work under the simplest scenario ? (directly from the users screen"
What user screen?
What settings are you referring to that I may have chosen? , Thanks dude, I'll figure it out. I've been ripping apart pieces
of the code to get it. I'm in the process of pulling some things
out to make functions that do specific tasks based on your code.
I actually had a lot of luck yesterday with it.
, Chris,
Well some good news ! This from my hosting company this morning...
"
I'd say that the vendor is right so I've submitted a work order to create the *****.com/aspnetprotect directory as an application. If there are any other directories for which this needs to be done, please let us know. This particular task always needs to be performed by our staff.
If you need to follow up on this job with one of our on-line or phone technicians, you can reference ticket id 11860.

Thanks for your help thus far
Andy cwilliams38455.5654513889, Sounds great, Sold!
Thanks Christopher! , Dear Christofer
I already have send you the details you asked me for. Please let me know if you have received , While I originally thought the login form on a non-protected page idea may be similar in setup to how our Classic ASP version of ASPProtect works I could not have been more incorrect. Truth is I forgot that it works a lot differently.
ASP.NET Web forms are meant to post to themselves and there is thing called the viewstate. (google it.. its a hidden variable the server creates in the form code that is required when the form posts back to itself.. and hold all sorts of information the server uses) Doing what you are asking about means disabling the viewstate and that can have big consequences and break certain things.
Basically you cant just put a form on a non-protected page and post to a protected page if the viewstate is enabled. Disabling it can break certain web controls like data grids .etc etc.. and can also have an effect on how the session is managed at the site and sometimes disabling it is not possible depending on what is going on cause you need it.
I am still doing research on the whole thing, but it looks to me like doing that is going to have a tradeoff of some sort.
That does not mean this isn't possible somehow. I am still researching and I am also going to see what John Evans thinks.
I told you .NET was complicated.
As for your other question that is something you have to sort out on your own by editing the code and recompiling it based on your custom project needs. It is not something I can help you with. , As an update to this thread I fixed the "upload_post.asp" page quite some time ago but forgot to post the updated file here.
So here it is.
2005-09-16_165913_upload_post.zip , Hello,
VBScript is the most popular ASP scripting language, and has the most support available. I estimate that less than 5% of the ASP coders out there use anything other than vbscript
That being said it specifically says on the aspprotect site ASPProtect is only for use in protecting asp using "vbscript" as the language.
http://www.aspprotect.com/more_info_full_v7.asp
http://www.aspprotect.com/comparison.asp
it is something I specified very clearly for this very reason.
Sorry, but you can not use ASPProtect to protect pages using Language="Javascript". The code is too complex to be mixed with server side Javascript.
To password protect asp pages written using "Javascript" you really need a an application specifically written in and designed to work with ASP pages written using "Javascript". And then of course that application would not be able to protect ".asp" pages written using "vbscript." (I mean never say never, but it would be a ton of work to get both working and I doubt you will ever see a commercial application that does both)
as for switching back and forth between vbscript and javascript you really can't except with very simple code. Doing so with anything complex can be extremely problematic because the order of execution sometimes gets all mixed up because of the complexity of the code being used.
That doesn't mean it can not work....
You would really want to do something like this.
do not specify a default language at the top
surround the aspprotect include file with this
<SCRIPT Language="vbscript">
</script>
surround your javascript code with this
<SCRIPT Language="JavaScript">
</script>
then make sure none the code including the aspprotect include file has any <% or %> tags in it
that means you have to remove that sort of thing everywhere... that means a lot of work if you used a lot of that sort of thing instead of response.writes to write out html type stuff
and again... I don't know if you would ever get it all working , so, on control_pics.asp where you see
<% =TempDesc %>
you could try doing this instead
<% =Replace(TempDesc," ","") %>
, I really need more information..
SQL or Access database ? If Access are you using the newest version of the .mdb file
Is this a new item ?
Show me your connection string ?
perhaps the url to the site as well so I can look around?
things like that that will help me troubleshoot.
If any info is sensative send me a PM..
, need more info..
are you using aspimage to resize images and make true thumbnails.. (because if you have it turned on and it isnt actually installed on the server you will get broken thumbnails.)
what kind of images are you using ? gif or jpegs
are you uploading images over existing images ?
really need to know exactly what to do to reproduce the situation from scratch and then I can give you a better answer ??
cwilliams38348.7894097222, Chris,
Yesterday when I would access the get_me_in page with the password key, I was then taken to the default login page. It did not give me the option to create a user.
Today, when I entered the password key into the get_me_in page, I was taken right to the create user page. So, yes the problem has been resolved. I have no idea why though.
, Some of our users complained that their users id and passwords are sent in the clear. So we decided to invest in an SSL certificate from Verisign. It has been tested fine with all forms and pages in ASPProtect version 6. The only remaining page which I am not sure how to protect is the home page. Let's say my home page is http://www.MyDomain.com/index.asp. When the user goes to this link he/she will be presented with the check_user_inc.asp page so he/she can enter their ID and PW. So how to make the login information send from this page thru HTTPS? , If you have messed up the admin account or forgotten the admin password you generally should open up the database manually and add a new account or see what the old account is.
In version 7 however you have another option. Go through the installation instructions again. Specifically the part where you use the "get_me_in.asp" page to get back into the admin area by pasting in the password encrpytion keye you are using from your config file. , Thanks.

, There was nothing wrong with the server configuration. It turned out that the problem was that I disabled the email notification of new user registrations that I continually receive. That appears to disable the authorization email to new users as well.
One other issue. It appears that AOL email addressee's are not getting the authorization email. Does AOL have any blocks to CDONT generated emails?
