Sorry, I can not provide a date.. I am last person that is organized enough to give any sort of release date on anything.
Could be next week, could be 2 years from now. I made two add-ons this week and they came out of no where. I had no plans to make them. etc etc.. they just happened.
If I told you 2 months from now I know it would not be done and you would be disappopinted so I am not saying anything. I will say if it turns out to be anything complex it will not be a free mod or it will be a feature of a new version., I have no idea to be honest, I just like the way it looks
Good deal on the remote install, just dont pull the old "hangman" move
shutdown the machine on yourself around 4AM. Otherwise you be getting
in the car and going for a drive LOL
,
I am running .asp pages and using the longer code method to display flash banners on my site.
I have noticed a considerable decrease in the loading of my index page when I have a banner called. When I remove the banner, all is fine.
Any suggestions?
Dave
, Thanks Chris.
Your solution worked!
, I am confused.
Humm, how did ASPBanner 8 come with your purchase of ASPProtect ? That is not something I am aware of or something I do. Please provide more information on how you obtained ASPBanner 8. If I gave yu a copy for some reason please refresh my memory so I can go look up th emails about it. I need to know you have a valid license.
Now, as for the two not working together and the login screens messing with each other. I am even more confused. Tell me more as I just do not understand what you did ? ASPBanner has it's own user database and login system so there is no reason you should be mixing the two together as far as logins go. The two applications can certainly be in the same web together and not bother each other. ASPBanner can certainly serve banners to any pages you protect with ASPProtect or don't protect, but you certainly should not be protecting any ASPBanner code with ASPProtect code. ASPBanner already has code in it to do that. If that is the case don't do that. ASPProtect is not meant to protect code that already has a login system. That should just be obvious as far as I am concerned and hopefully you dintn't try to do that.
(you said you just put the directory in there but there must be more too this than that)
But again, tell me more. I can't really know everything ??
I just dont see how your ASPProtect pages could be effected by ASPBanner unless you really did something wacky like included the ASPBanner "check_user_inc.asp" instead of the one that comes with ASPProtect or overwrote it... etc ect
If in the same web aspprotect can be wherever and aspbanner needs to be in a folder called "aspbanner". There should be no conflicts under normal use and the two will essentially run seperate of one another.
, YAY! I FOUND A BUG IN MY TESTING!!! Do I get a cool t-shirt or a coupon for Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream?
Hehehe... seriously, thanks for digging deeper and spotting the error.
You got some mad skillz and some excellent service, Mr. Cwilliams!
, Please be aware folks..
This file is not provided by CJWSoft. Though this may work very well use of it is not supported in any way. We have not tested it.
This user is not using the option pack so this file will not be compatible with anyone using that because it does not have support for groups and some of the other new features.
Regardless..we appretiate users sharing ideas and solutions that they have come up with.
cwilliams38313.499837963, Hey CJWSoft,
We're helping out some clients of ours in a server transfer and we
really need some assistance from you guys. We've got everything
transfered and running, except for the ASP.NET banner. Do you
have any directions on how to go about moving the install from one
server to another? We've sent a couple emails through the site
but haven't gotten any responses back.
Please help.
-Tony Valenti
, as I look at your installation more I notice that you are using MSSQl as the database type.
chances are that is the source of these problems. Fields in the sql database are most likely not all set correctly
it is very important that the sql tables and fields are set up exactly as described and that the sql script we provide runs without error
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo160-1.htm
if you create the sql database other than the way we tell you to or the sql script doesn't do its job setting all the field types/constraints/primary keys/etc..... for some reason .. then weird things like this can happen
at this time this is my best guess as to what is going on
I would examing the sql script we provide and compare the information set in it for each field and table to your existing SQL database to see if everything got set correctly.. I would start by checking these fields 1st of all as they are very important.... (username,password,expiration_date,admin,active)
in the meantime testing the ASPProtect system with an Access database will prove that all the ASP code is working as it is supposed to if you are interested in doing that
, ok, I am home.. missed flight.. just got home an hour ago.
lets see.. I really need more info...
For starters are you using the delayed stats feature ? that is expirmental and could cause that problem
, i will probably end up doing this myself, but dropping all the log data in a sql table would be nice as it offers much more flexibility on how an admin can keep track and use the data. Browsing through each log file is very inconvenient. I can search for text in the files (server-side, others with a shared server would probably have to separately download all log files first), but with the current method I don't have the following important options:
- cannot sort by any criteria
- quickly see a list of all login attempts by a specific user (i need to search each log file individually for this info)
if you had an option during setup perhaps (or elsewhere) in a future version that allowed an admin to specify the preferred logging method (separate files or a table in sql) i'm sure many admins would find it very useful to have a database alternative of keeping track of users becuase it would offer the two benefits listed above, plus more.
,
Hi, we purched ASP Protect a few months back and had it installed on our hosting company under a "temporary" domain name -- cidrasensors.com
We are now about ready to switch this development site over to production and I need to change the domain from cidrasensors.com to cidra.com
My hosting company wants us to create a new accounting and re-set everyting up.
So...based on this, I have a few questions for you:
1. Do I need to re-install the software? or can I copy from one account to the other?
2. Assuming I can copy the software to the new account - are there changes that will need to be made to point to the new domain?
3. If I decide I wanted to keep the first account alive for development purposes (never turn on the website domain to the public) - would I need to have a seperate ASP Protect license?
4. If I decided to ask you to do the transfer for us - is that covered in the $20 Installation fee I saw on the web?
, Here are three known bugs and their fixes...
If you have any of these symptoms these fixes will most likely take care of them.
If you don't have a symptom do not make any changes as you most likely have an updated copy of the application.
Technically if you bought that app on or after April 27th 2004 these bugs should all have been corrected.
Description Fix
(no descriptions showing in pop up window)
Edit pic_window.asp with a text editor
Change
Set f=fs.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("pictures/Album_ID_" & Album_ID & ".txt"), 1)
To
Set f=fs.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("../pictures/Album_ID_" & Album_ID & ".txt"), 1)
Slideshow Fix…
(last image in slideshow it not showing)
In slideshow.asp
Change
<% For PicArrayIndex = 0 To Ubound(PicArray) - 1 %>
To
<% For PicArrayIndex = 0 To Ubound(PicArray) %>
Add To Favorites fix
(add to favorites feature doesn’t work at all)
Edit "album_uppermenu_inc.asp" in the scripts folder
Change
<a href="users/favorite_albums.asp?Album_ID=<% =Album_ID %>"><img border="0" src="<% =application("skinpath") %>add_to_favorites.gif"></a>
To
<a href="users/favorite_albums.asp?Album_ID=<% =Album_ID %>&Action=Add_To_Favorites"><img border="0" src="<% =application("skinpath") %>add_to_favorites.gif"></a>
cwilliams38104.7034375, 1st off.. you appear to have some strange things going on with that domain. Looks like you have a frameset and are loading another domain in it which is always confuding especially if you are running the site off your home computer or something... I am not sure
That aside..
If I go to
http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/default.asp
and click on the "familiy" category
then right click on a broken image.. look at properties
Your linking the image to your localhost
see
http://localhost/rfamilystuff/pictures/Pic_3_1_thumb.jpg
and that is wrong, just like I said above
Nobody running the site off any computer but your development machine is going to see those pictures because the url isnt valid for them
My guess is in the settings you have the "PictureURL" set to
http://localhost/rfamilystuff/pictures
when it should be
http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/pictures
Good luck with this.. I am going to the bar.
If you need more help I probably will not be available until Monday.
cwilliams38394.7688773148, I just finished implementing the V7 product on our site and someone made mention that on the profile form where you are asked all your personal and user information there are 2 fields for passwords. The first field uses masking to hide the password as you type it, where the second shows it in clear text.
Now we know that the only people able to see the password are the user and the administrator, but it is playing mind games with my users as they think there is a problem with the application. I am not a programmer (however, learning ASP slowly now!) and am not sure if you did this on purpose or if it is a bug?
If it was done on purpose, can you advise how I can make the confirm password field masked as well to eliminate the unfounded questions!
Thanks
, Everything is running fine.. I can read ads... reply to them. but when I click sign in or register.. I get a server error.
Any suggestions
Thank You
, The ASPProtect v7.x Documentation is now available as a download in windows ".chm" format. (needs to be viewed on a windows based machine that can read it) If you are using XP with Service Pack 2 follow the instructions below or you will not be able to view the help file.
Download Documentation
You should save this file and then open it.
Just opening it from download may not work and you will not be able to read it correctly.
Please continue to check the support forum threads for the most up to date documentation.
IMPORTANT
If your are using xp with service pack 2 there are some new security features that can block the access of help files you download. So as far as the ".chm" file goes.. you have to download it... right click on it...go to properties... then choose unblock down in the lower right corner ...then you can open and view the file correctly
, I'm getting this error when I try to login:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
/gallery/users/login.asp, line 19
The Include file '..dataconn_inc.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.
, If you PM your site info and I can go in and troubleshoot. I have no more ideas. Usually people have zero issues installating this application as I got it pretty tweaked so I need to see what is going on in order to help., Please be more specific. What hit count are we talking about ?
User Logging ? Albums ? Something else ?
Please descriube the situation in detail. There are really no settings for any sort of hit count.
, There are problems with your sql server database then. It was not set up correctly.
The 1st problem relates to having "used stored procedures" checked in the settings page.. but not actually giving those stored procedure execute permissions which they need to run. That is something that must be done on the SQL enterprise manager side of things either by you if you are allowed or your hosting company.
If you can not get the execute permissions set on the stored procedures for the sql database user you are using then turn off that option in the settings page and try things without it.
The 2nd error I am not sure of at this point so correct the 1st issue and we will go from there. It could be another sql database issue (not created correctly) or it could be an asp code issue of some sort though I doubt that or other people would have had problems on that page as well. I also just tested it out and looked the code over and I did not have any issues here. , Greetings:
I am doing the initial set-up and have run into a problem. Everything has gone smoothly up to and including pulling up the get_me_in.asp page. When I enter the "PasswordEncryptionKey", nothing happens. The page just sits there without doing anything and the browser says it's opening the page, but never does. I have tried entering the value with and without the double-quotes. The value is the correct one from the config_inc.asp file. I did a copy paste from the file twice to insure I transferred it correctly.
I am running Windows 2000 server.
What now?
Warren
, MODS are NOT SUPPORTED.. questions about them will not be answered in the support forums. If you want to use a MOD you are considered an advanced user and will need to sort out any issues that may or may not come up.
MODS are used at your own risk and may or may not require certain basic coding skills. , Just installed sofware everything works fine except I see no way to upload any photos. There is no reference or link to allow an upload on any of the asp pages (I have surfed them all). I am sure it is something simple, but I am not aware. I am using SQL2000., Can I have the logon be in a top frame while having the protected pages displayed in a main frame?
Using frames with forms based authentication is not the best thing to be doing. Your much better off not using frames and using includes files to do a virtual frames sort of thing (search google) but if you are going to use frames I would suggest password protecting the frameset page as well as any pages it contains.
If you want to have a login form in a non protected top frame all the time.. that posts to a lower frame that is password protected.. you would do this
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo169-1.htm
but change the target of the form to one of your frames
personally though I think that would be a somewhat goofy setup to have going on
Also, how will it behave if a user moves in between a protected page to a public page and back to the protected page again?
As long as they have cookies enabled which is required for session variables to work... then you will have no issues because once they come back to a page they have permission to they will just be allowed in without login.. at least while that session is still active.. or for a longer time if they choose the remeber me option which keeps track of them with a cookie .
Really, the best thing to do is expirment and see how things behave.
, Thanks, I know, I have it all figured out and have thought about it before. Just no time yet to do it. It will probably be an add-on/mod when I get time. , ok, how about some more in fo on the setup ?
What version of MSSQl ?
Exactly how did you create the sql database ?
Is it possible banners.asp got edited ?
Did you create all your banners via the admin interface and do all all banners have a zone assigned as that is important ? Sometimes customers will add banner info directly to the database and leave out vital field info that the application requires. Based on that error it is starting to look like that page is coming across a banner with no zone ID and thus the error. , UPDATE
Version 8.1 has code generators for these new methods built in...
, I am converting the email over from CDONTS to CDO so it will run on my host 2003 server.
What files should I be concerned with? Under gallery_admin there is an email_user.asp and under the main gallery folder thier is an email friend. Is there an other email routines I should be concerned with?
Thank You for your Assistance.

, We have no add-ons for anything but accepting payments through paypal and 2checkout... if you want to accept payments through some other setup you have make a payment directory addon and write code to do it based on the system you are using..
We provide the ASP source code so that is doable for someone that is good with ASP. If not then it won't be doable.
, how would anyone recommend i go about setting a different expiration date for each group a user may belong to?, its that server, it's way underpowered when it comes to running dynamic code and databases.. and that other app is probably stealing all the leftover odbc resources..... did you try doing the import on another machine running ASP? Thats the way to go.. I am afraid I won't be much help at the moment.. I am battling with a crashed system and a lot of lost data, Aggh.. I put passwords instead of password. Sorry to have bothered you, works fine now. , and when I go to your now.. its very fast again.., To hopefully wrap this thread up...
This user showed me his site and things were working for me as they should.
We came to the conlusion that the weird behavior he was experiencing was because he was using AutoComplete in Internet Explorer....
It was automatically filling in the fields with his username/password that he had autocomplete save.
So it was a web browser usage issue.. not the code.
cwilliams38165.5102546296, humm, did you edit any of the registration code ?
this is not something anyone has ever mentioned and the aspprotect 6 code has not been changed in over a year ?
can I see where there is happening ?
I may need ftp or frontpage access to the server in order to troubleshoot unless you can provide me with more details here.
thx..
, Advertising ?? oh really.
It was named that because that way if you already have a login.aspx file for whatever reason it does not interfere which is a good thing. It has nothing to do with advertising.
Next off you never mentioned having an issue with it saying aspprotect in it. I am EXTREMELY clear about what I support and do not regarding ASPProtect.NET. If you are upset because I didn't tell you exactly what to edit and change in visual studio.net and hold your hand you are out of line. My god, I sent you to like the best and most detailed tutorial on how to setup and use the application with VS.NET that could ever exist. That took forever to put together. I even responded to your post on Christmas on a Sunday. I doubt too many companies would have responded on Christmas.
More importantly than that when you purchase code from CJWSoft you are purchasing digital source code and there are no refunds. Every single page in the CJWSoft family states that very cleary in the footer. I do not appretiate it when someone threatens a chargeback and as far as I am concerned anyone that does that is commiting a crime of theft. I also do not appretiate smart comments saying it's "obvious" etc etc
If you wanted to strike a nerve with me you did. If you want to commit a crime and be a thief that is your business as well. Obviously I can not stop that and the credit card company will take your side. I work very hard on the source code I sell and my policies on everything are VERY clear.
Advertising ??
Calling the credit card company ??
Obvious ??
nice, real nice
, I think you may be using old code where that was an issue... I am going to PM you the latest version..
to be safe upgrade all the ASP files except the dataconn_inc.asp files and your config_inc.asp files
"be real careful not to lose your current encryption keys in the "config_inc.asp" file or you will be in real trouble
You can use your existing database
, http://gibsoncity.info/guestbook/default.asp
Reports 65-messages, however after the first 10 are displayed and you click on the More Messages button, I get the Page cannot be found error.
, That was wrong of me but not what I meant. It seems as soon as I purchase something like this it doesn't work right and it can't be altered to work with what I have. The support ends up sucking or being none. Listen I’ve gone thru you're product and it's wonderful and does exactly what you say it does so that's a relief. Sorry about my ignorance with .NET but I’m from an ASP world and it's a lot different. You can see what I’m trying to protect here http://www.hotmixxent.com:8087/default.aspx. The final site after testing will be http://mxais.sfmx.org/default.aspx. Again thanks for the support on Christmas Sunday, that’s defiantly beyond the call and I appreciate it a lot.
