There really is no default width in general.
The thing to remember is that the default.asp page includes a lot of different pages.. and some of those pages also include pages.
Now all of this gets wrapped by the header and footer include files so in a sense what you do there can effect everything inside to a certain degree.
Now there are some widths set here and there for different tables and what not on certain pages, but its really the kind of situation where you just have to dig around in the code and experiment until you eventualy find what you are looking for and get the desired result.
I'd love to tell you there is easy way to just set a width, but it is not that simple.
Maybe someday it will be. Just not in the current version.

as far as the manaully edited import file not working I would really need to see it. There has to be somethin wrong with it's format.
I really need more information and possibly acess to the system to do some troubleshooting...

My site is composed of mostly asp based pages with some javascripting thrown in, but a fair amount is strictly html and javascripting. Currently I am using the javascript banner method throughout the site.
You have mentioned in the past that several other methods might be a better option for asp pages.
Examples would be: XML Parser Method or asphttp method.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the javascript method on my non-asp pages and maybe the asphttp method on the asp pages and all in the same Zone?
Or, is it possible to use the asphttp method on all pages, whether they are asp or not?
I'm just trying to figure out what is the most efficient way to use the banner system.
Or maybe should I just keep it all javascript method?
Any helpful feedback would be appreciated!

, (User Photo Upload Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This will allow an individual user to upload a user picture instead of just the admin.
Notes: This is a down and dirty mod. The user upload code was copied from the admin area and there are no safeguards. Meaning there is no limit on the file size a user uploads and there is no confirmation process in case something they upload is inappropriate. etc etc etc
If you want that you will have to work on that on your own.
Directions:
Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
copy these files into your "users" folder

, As I'd said in my previous response, I found those databases and they didn't work. All three databases in asptest do work., I am an experienced ASP developer. Can you tell me whether this would be a very involved process, or whether it is pretty straightforward? I don't yet have a merchant account, so I am not yet familiar with any aspect of accepting credit cards online.

I dont know exactly how you go about that and it would really depend on a lot of things like when the ad started and how yu wanted t handle that. it would involve custom coding though, not a change in the database.

Believe it or not I finally can access the photogallery. You were right Chris regarding the unzipping of the files.
Now onto the next challenge! I have set up three categories and proceeded to create a test album. I uploaded a couple of pictures (yeah that worked!!!) but the album does not show up on the default.asp page under the category.
Please advise -

This mod is only for customers running SQL server. It is a new stored procedure and a new version of the "server_info.asp" file that will display information about your SQL database on the Server Info page.

This is for Advanced SQL Users only that understand how to add a Stored Procedure to a SQL Database as well as assign permissions and what not.
To install this mod you should have access to SQL Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer as well as be able to grant your SQL database user EXEC permissions on the new stored procedure. , Humm, its hard to explain but I am not sure that is a good way to be testing that. I hear what you are saying but I am not sure that really means anything. Whatever is going on its some sort of client side issue with the browser and the meta refreshing over a very long period of time during which there really is no user doing anything at the site. , 1st. Please understand you have to purchase two licenses to do such a thing as each installation will need a valid license purchased.
Moving on:
ASPProtect using a industry standard concept called "Forms Based Authentication"
This primarily relies on session variables keeping track of login status.
Each installation must be in it's own unique "IIS Application" so it will have it's own set of application and session variables.
That is often not possible with shared hosting plans as the server admins may not be willing to set a folder in your web as a separate IIS application. You would need to ask. It is going to depend on the quality of your hosting plan whether they do it or not.
technically it takes about 1 minute to open up the "IIS Console" and set up a folder in your web as a separate "application"
Based on what you are telling me that you want to do I think it would make a lot more sense to have one installation and one user database and customize your sites so ASPProtect users that are part of certain "groups" have access to things others do not or see things on pages other users would not. That is after all the entire point of Dynamic web sites and also why ASPProtect has "groups".
Then as far as the registration differences go you would make a copy of the users area folder area and manual customize it to register users in an alternate fashion than the main "users" folder. And then send people there if that is how you want them to register.
I don't support customizations but that is the gist of it. It's really not difficult work, but you have to be good with ASP., Okay, hopefully I'm posting in the correct area this time.
Currently we are utilizing ASPProtect 7.x
When using the Newsletter function, many members are indicating they are not receiving email. No evidence of email in SPAM folders. Also, when checking with email provider, they insist it is not being filtered prior to delivery to member's email address.
The following message does appear when a newsletter is sent.

Line 124 is the line of code to 'send' the emails. We have approx. 860 members who are on the list to receive the newsletter emails. I have no way of knowing how many are not getting the email. Based on anecdotal evidence, I'm guessing it could be as high as 20%.
We are using CDOSYS / SMTP authentication with a real external email with MX records. Our website is hosted by Cbeyond. They insist it isn't at their end. (for what it's worth)

Looks pretty sweet but the pricing is just too much for me to justify as I am very happy with smarterstats and I host a lot of sites now.
I used to use Livestats 5 back in the day when we had a 50 domain license where I worked and hosted my sites. I liked it a lot then I tried the version 6.2 that they had for a while and hated it. You want to change the sortby hyperlink on that page so that it will in turn change the dynamic sql statement to sort the way you want

One of them is the default anyway, but I cant remember which is which off hand so just try them both till you get the desired result
near the top you can also change the default sortby when thet page is loaded

there you would use a space though.. not a "+" sign when adding the ASC or DESC
The + sign is only used in the hyperlinks because it means a space for browsers that can't deal with spaces in links

, I do not what is going on at this time. It is not a known issue.
If is is not working it would seem to be a problem with the application variables on the server possibly and your web.
Perhaps try installing it on a local machine and see if it works for testing sake.
Also.. if your stuck with the black skin you could always just edit the information in the that skins folder to get the app looking the way you want.
That and the header and footer files that comes with the app are what control the look of the system.
cwilliams38294.5880208333, ok, well that should not be a problem then.. its meant to be able to be put in a folder like that.. just make sure the folder is not a subweb or anything like that... meaning dont set the folder up to have its own application in IIS. Just use a regular folder of course that is part of the root iis application.
Perhaps you just didnt edit the paths in the settings like I mentioned., Running in parallel for testing is actually a smart way to do it, but the truth is you don't use anything from version 6 except the upgraded database (we have a tutorial on how to upgrade the database)
Version 7 was a drastic change /rewrite to all of the asp files that come with the application. So you will be starting out with fresh version 7 ".asp" files and folders... You will also find that once you get version 7 running that editing certain things like the look of the users area and the login screens is much easier to do.
That being said any of your own ".asp" pages that you protect use the same protection code they always did, so there will be no drastic changes needed there when you do finalize the upgrade.
If using MSACCESS as the database I suggest installing the application somewhere in your web and using a fresh ASPProtect 7 database. Once you are familiar with the setup and everything is working fine. Attempt the database conversion and when your done stick your converted database in there and see if everything is ok.
Also, if you already purchased the application download the latest version before doing the install. It's the same download URL. If you don't have it email me and I can hook you up. I have added some new features and fixed a couple minor things since it's release.
So far the feedback on version 7 has been awesome..

Suggestion for future release. Create an option to email the admin when a message is posted. If this code already exists please advise.

, I had a question about user registration and how it works, mainly because I am having a problem.
When a user registers, with the email verification setting, I am assuming that there is supposed to be a new record created in the USERS table in the database. What could cause this not to happen?
Actually, in testing further I found that with the setting at Auto, Manual, or email, the record is not added to the table. And, if I am logged in as admin, the Add User button does not do anything.
I can however edit and delete user records...
Hmmm, adding a Category yields the same thing. And loggin in as a non-admin user still displays some of the menu items for admin, but then gives a page can not be found error if you click on one (ie, approve).
This looks like a db issue to me, I will have to try this with access and on a test server...
Any thoughts?

cwilliams38303.8507291667, I dont know about the unspecified errors. I really need more detailed information. (Since it has been working fine for quite a long time you might want to consider installaing the application from scracth again and see if you still get errors)
As for the log in not persiting. Did you by chance turn off cookies in your browser ? They are required for forms based authentication to function. Otherwise, yes you would need to log in to each and every page as you moved around.

I would also suggest reviewing the generated source code in the web browser and examining the html to figure out exactly where the body tag info you dont want is coming from
, I dont what it is..u got to just keep trying stuff like connecting to different versions of the database and maybe even the version with no password set on it.. maybe do some iisresets in between if it is your server.. maybe try putting the database in a different folder
Usually people have zero trouble setting up this particular app because everything is so time tested and rock solid...
its just got to be something related to the actual data connection.. low level stuff , like I mentioned are you by chance running something like Norton Antivirus Script Blocking ?? That can cause timeouts and all sorts of problems with ASP as can other software like it. , Hi all,

But I've never been able to get those with just User permissions to be able to upload... Only an administrator is successful in uploading. This was no problem in the past, but now this client would like to give their guests a means to share their pictures on their site - so now I have to figure out the bug...

I think you’ll definitely like aspbanner. It's very easy to setup and use and it should work great with your portal.
You’ll have banners rotating in no time. All you have to do is add banner calling code in your pages where you want the banners to show. There are enough methods that you will definitely find a few that work well for you.
BTW, there are actually 7 methods now as we have a new one.

I am not quite sure I understand ? Seems to me like that would be normal because you can always log in as the admin at any time. If you cant log in as the user you just signed up as that could be for a couple reasons relating to the registration type you have slected in the settings. There are 3 types all epxlained in the settings screen. Some require manual activation byt the admin, some involve a registration email.. etc etc

My system will also not allow me to set the Stay Loged in FLag.

As I told you in an email earlier cookies must be enabled for authentication to work. You mentioned now you can not log off ? I am not sure I know what you mean by that. I assume you know to close all browser windows when testing things like this and I assume you know you have specifically log off and confim it in order to remove the remember me cookie and have to log in again when you return to the site.
