I have switched to Alentus and have the permissions set correctly and Parent paths turned on. I cannot figure out how to connect to the database. Should I have the database in the aspprotect/data/database folder, or in the data folder that Alentus has in my root directory? once that is determined, how do I decide what the path to that database is? I have tried many things, but this is what the setup page tells me to enter in the data_conn file DBQ=D:\Websites\www.mysite.com\aspprotect\data\database\ASPP rotect_access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp
Thank You , When using the paypal subscription feature with ASPProtect for a new user the expiration in ASPProtect is actually not used. It is set to Null. This is because the PayPal system takes care of everything on their end.
So I can't see this happening because that field is not supposed to be used and the default PayPal subscription code we provide with the system does not populate that field.
Unless you populated the expiration date field on your own ?
Now that I re-read your post. The ASPProtect 6 reference was confusing me.
Now, if you have users that were never on a PayPal subscription that then sign up via PayPal subscriptiion that may indeed be a different story.
Is that what you are saying? I am looking at the code right now and it seems to me like it sets the expration date field to null on any new subscription activity regardless.
Let's forget about ASPProtect 6 as I don't think that matters. Please explain exactly when this happens and does not happen and exactly what sort of user we are talking and what their expiration dates are set at before they sign up for a paypal subscription.
Please be as detailed as possible so I really know what is going on ?,

For this to work, the search engine must pass the PW to the web site. I just was not sure how to do the same thing with IPs. I will play with the code and see what happens. If it works, I will post it here to help others, if this is OK with forum rules.

The script only allows .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif extensions.
If someone uploads a file called... "filename.vbs.jpeg" with bad vbscript in it I seriously doubt anything can happen because of it because of the extension.
But I really do not know.

I spent considerable time setting up 6.0 to work with my web site. From what I read in the forum, it sounds like I have to start over again to integrate the new version into our web site. I do not relish the thought of that, but I have to move to an email system with a valid MX record.
Will I be starting over from scratch with this upgrade?

P.S. E-mail address to look for is serena_5@hotmail.com , Sorry, there is not any documentation on that.. it is basic asp/database work and customization like that is not supported. I recommended looking at what is already there and using that as a guide to produce more fields. etc etc , It a generic error that means something is wrong with your data connection.

I would really need more detailed information. It's nothing the system does the way it ships under normal circumstances. For example you shouldn't see that behavior in any of the example protected ".asp" pages
that is unless you have something odd going on with your browser settings or you made changes to the login form or code around it causing it. (or you are using frames and dont have some of the targets and what not set correctly)
My guess is that it has to be something you added or did, but I really need to know more to offer more than that.

So, lets make an account to use..
In MySQL Administrator select "User Administration"
Down below you will see the user "root"
Right click on "root" and select "Add new user"
Type in a New MySQL Username and Password
I am going to call my new user "aspbanneruser"
Hit the Schema Privileges" tab
In this case since I am using the root account to manage my MySQL system I am just going to give this new user account what it needs to use the aspbanner database.. you may want to apply more permissions to the new account, that is up to you.. I am giving the new user (select, insert, update, delete, execute) So I right click on the aspbanner and then bring over the permissions I need for it.. and hit apply changes down in the bottom right.
We can now connect to the aspbanner MySQL database using this new account like so.

I just updated the zip archive so the error is gone but if you bought ASPBanner Unlimited Version 7.3 Before April/06/2004 you can optionally apply the fix.
To fix it (only if you want to use the option explicit method of calling banners and not even a really necessary fix as this is just an error in the generated code your supposed to use)
Just edit aspbanner/zones.asp with a text editor.

It won't run right like that for a lot of reasons and it is not supported like that as that notice says.
The categories showing 0 is just one of the problems you will have.
If I help you fix this it will just lead to 4 more issues right after.

The fact that you are using Server 2003 is not relevant. I am very familiar with it and all my sites run on it.
The ASPNET account will be there by default once the .NET framework is installed. It won’t just show up in the list, you have to search for it like my article mentions.

That error really means exactly what it says. You have to give that account permissions correctly. , If a picture does not show after uploading it is one of the following things.
The upload method chosen is not supported on the server
or
The physical path specified to the pictures folder is not correct.
or
The URL to the Pictures folder is not correct.
or
Permissions to the pictures folder have not been set properly

Rhona (rookie) , Yes I did see that, and created the new project as well as imported the DLL's. I guess my question is; is it as easy as rename the file from aspprotectlogin.aspx to login.aspx and then running the release to regenerate? I know this is a novice question as I am a novice to .NET but the fastest way to learn is to do. I guess the ASP pages had to refresh at the server or something...

the settings for sending email via ASP are no different then the settings you would use in outlook or something... except sometimes on the server level localhost works as the email server because they set it up to allow that
and of course those 3rd party emailing components need to actually be installed on the server , What about browser caching ? It can happen easily especially if you update pictures over one another.
emtpy out the temp files of ie (take a while usually).. close all ie windows and go back..
Otherwise I need detailed info on the problem. What you told me is not enough to troubleshoot. There are so many factors like what image image rezie component you are using, the size of the pictures before conversion, server resources, what your doing regarding 3 albums.... etc etc
I have imported 100 pics at a time into an album on a fast server with no issues. Thats using any of the image resizing components.
If an album is new what your describing should never happen. Again, it think what your seeing is browser caching playing tricks on you. We have anticaching things in place so thumbnails never do that but not for the large images. cwilliams38235.5737615741, I disagree...
It would be 20 hours + of conversion and testing. Maybe more.
Like I said, I converted a version fo ASPBanner once to work with MYSQL. It took forever to change all the code (2 weeks of messing around) and get it working. There were also a lot of issues with null values in the database, ado update code that had to be rewritten, cursor type issues, recordcounts not working, etc etc that had to be sorted out. There was a ton of situations where things seemed to be working but later on I noticed there were minor bugs to deal with. It was a lot of work.
ASP Photo Gallery has a ton of asp pages. It is a much larger app then ASPBanner. If you convert it to work with mysql I highly doubt you could have it running well with less than 20+ hours of work. I wrote the app and it would at least take me that long and there would still be bugs at that point.
If you think you could your not used to my style of coding and don't realize exactly how much stuff needs to be rewritten.
Granted, you could get some of the basics running off mysql in a few hours or less but there is just so much little stuff that would give you trouble. cwilliams38243.9065277778, Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.

and like in the "example" protected pages we provide
or they will not be protected and nothing will happen as far as ASPProtect goes

I need to see if this is possible. I want to create a browsing system such that, the user selects a Province from a drop down list on the main page. Based the selection, the username of all the users in that province will be shown. Then the user can click on a specific username and his/her portfolio (photo album) will be displayed.
is this possible? If so, How can I do this, please help.

You have mentioned in the past that several other methods might be a better option for asp pages.
Examples would be: XML Parser Method or asphttp method.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the javascript method on my non-asp pages and maybe the asphttp method on the asp pages and all in the same Zone?
Or, is it possible to use the asphttp method on all pages, whether they are asp or not?
I'm just trying to figure out what is the most efficient way to use the banner system.
Or maybe should I just keep it all javascript method?
Any helpful feedback would be appreciated!
