Do what it says so you can see the real error and then post that information here. It could be anything from incorrect permissions to whatever.cwilliams38454.4272916667,

I really do not know for sure, but I imagine there are customers using their windows hosting. Usually I do not know what hosting company a customer uses and I am usualy the only one that responds to forum questions.

Why not download the current Free lite version and try it out ?

For pay signups you set the groups during signup it like this thread tells you to

http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo186-1.htm

only difference is you need to specify the groups info like so
(basically getting rid of the commas and just leaving behind the group numbers with a * around everything)

Also be sure to have no double asterisks

so, *1*,*2* would just be *1*2*

so, *1*,*2*,*5* would just be *1*2*5*

cwilliams38460.5969444444,

Let me put it this way.

My home page (default.asp) is an unprotected page.

When a user that has signed in on another (protected pages) and has the remember me checkbox checked closes the browser cookies should be set for the next time they return.

When the user opens their browser and returns  to my home page (default.asp), I'd like to put a message saying:
Welcome back <%Session ("Username")%>

How is this done?

, Yes, I created it  using the scripts.
, I didn't know about it. I will try to check it out some more this week.
,

I getting a strange error with ASPProtect.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'

Unclosed quotation mark before the character string '¾_^Ö'.

/aspprotect/check_user_inc.asp, line 114

If I check the database directly "¾_^Ö" is the exact string for the password.

Any Ideas

,

all I can say is try other things...  like

mail.yoursite.com

or

smtp.yoursite.com

etc etc etc

replacing yoursite with the name of your domain of course

the settings for sending email via ASP are no different then the settings you would use in outlook or something... except sometimes on the server level localhost works as the email server because they set it up to allow that

and of course those 3rd party emailing components need to actually be installed on the server

, do you want my help making the database with your import file ?, YAY FOR ASPPROTECT 7!!!

Now I need to know... how can I automate PayPal subscriptions and purchases? I'd like it so that once PayPal gets its money, my accounts get marked active.

Now, the documentation on this site currently says, to point the IPN post action to a null page. Yet, I see an IPN.asp in my files for PayPal subs and PayPal purchases...  Looking over the code there, I see actions to make accounts active and stuff like that. Is the page ready for prime time, or should I hold off for a new version?
cwilliams38421.7014814815, I would like to change this file name to the typical Login.aspx, how to do this? I have a VS 2003 but need instrutions if that's the route to go., Those access levels are not used and are nothing to worry about. They are left over from the ASPProtect core which I used for the users area of ASPBanner.

I am not sure what you did but its not a none, Unless I know more I can not make any guesses what happened. I would make sure in the database that the user is active and the expiration date field for them if there is one is empty, Once you have the LANGUAGE = VBSCRIPT and Checkfor = 1 on your page, you'll have it secured. I've got over 1600 pages secured in such a manner, thanks to ASPProtect! ,

I am a little confused here.  I am in the process of understand how this all works, mainly the email portions as I am running this through a home server (Windows XP).  I have tried test emails, but they are not going threw.  I ran the server_info.asp and it is telling me that I do have CDONTS installed, version 2.8.  Then I tried running, the test_mailer_component.asp.  This page is telling me it is not installed.  This process lead me to start looking at my components for my IIS.  Everything appears to be there.

Any ideas, where I should go next.  It appears the CDONTS code is in every page that it needs to be in, and it appears that I have it installed, but there is a disconnect between the two..

, okay thanks, thank you for such a quick response -- It sounds straight forward - so I should be all set.   Thanks again.,

Confused  Hi, we purched ASP Protect a few months back and had it installed on our hosting company under a "temporary" domain name -- cidrasensors.com

We are now about ready to switch this development site over to production and I need to change the domain from cidrasensors.com to cidra.com

My hosting company wants us to create a new accounting and re-set everyting up.

So...based on this, I have a few questions for you:

1. Do I need to re-install the software? or can I copy from one account to the other?

2. Assuming I can copy the software to the new account - are there changes that will need to be made to point to the new domain?

3. If I decide I wanted to keep the first account alive for development purposes (never turn on the website domain to the public) - would I need to have a seperate ASP Protect license?

4. If I decided to ask you to do the transfer for us - is that covered in the $20 Installation fee I saw on the web?

,

Is there any way to make the ads in ASPClassifieds end on a day of the week. I would like all of my ads to end on Sunday night and was wondering if there was a way to automatically do that in the database??

Thanks

Dave

,

you actually dont touch any of those
UploadDirectory = CmdGetConfiguration("UploadDirectory")
They get set from the config table in the database which gets edited in the admin area.

so...

I am talking about the settings area in the admin area of the applicaton.
Every setting there is descibed in detail. You get there and change serttings there via the web browser and by logging in as the admin.

Log in to the online demo as admin and check out the settings area if you are confused.
http://www.aspphotogallery.com/demo_pro.asp

, With ASPVendor you must use the SQL scripts we provide with the SQL Version to create the SQL database or else fields will not get set correctly.

I wish you would have told me you were using SQL server. It's important details like that that allow me to help and troubleshoot. , That's because when the page rebuilds, it uses the default number of users per page setting. You'd have to modify that default setting to have it do things differently.  I used to have mine set to 500 users, until I got past 300... then it wasn't fun to show all users on the page anymore.  I now like 10 per page and searching for specific users as needed.

But that's me. If you hack a COPY of your default.asp file (with the original backed up as above), you can get the value set to one you prefer.

If you want me to find the value, post and I'll look for it later on. If you want to find it yourself, happy hunting! Just be sure to have a backup in case you do the wrongest thing possible in your haxxoring.

Upgrade from V6 to v7.x with an MSSQL SERVER DATABASE

1st of all, backup your existing ASPProtect files and database before performing this upgrade. Please be really careful while performing this upgrade. Version 7.x  is a highly advanced application compared to any previous versions. CJWSoft under no circumstances is responsible if you lose information or have website downtime.

BOTTOM LINE: (PERFORM THIS UPGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK)

To do this upgrade you're going to need to have SQL Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer

That being said, on with the upgrade..

Open your SQL database in SQL Enterprise Manager

Regarding the following Tables

Rename "Users" to "ASPP_Users"
Rename "Groups" to "ASPP_Groups"

If you do not have a "Groups" table do not worry about it right now.

Now right click and DELETE the Config Table.
Yes, delete it..

Now, go into Design View for the "ASPP_Users" Table.

Rename the "Password" field to "Old_Password"
Be sure to spell it perfectly using the Underscore

If you have a "Groups" Field... leave it alone
If you do not have a "Groups" Field add one and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 255.

Now, we are going to add a few more new fields.

Add a field called "Redirection_URL" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 150.
Add a field called "PayPal_Subscriber_ID" make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100.
Add a field called "Newsletter" and make it a "bit" field
Add a field called "Password" and make it a "nvarchar" field with a lengh of 100.

Now close that window and save the changes..

Download these scripts.

2005-02-23_171110_aspprotect_v7_sql_upgrade_scripts.zip

Now open up SQL Query Analyzer
Connect to your SQL server.

Then load the script  "aspprotect_v7_config_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer.  Click the green play button at the top. If everything goes well the response should read something like this.

******************************************************
(1 row(s) affected)
******************************************************

Now, if you had a Groups Table your done with the database changes.

If you didnt have a groups table.

Then load the script  "aspprotect_v7_groups_table.sql" into the Query Analyzer.  Click the green play button at the top.

Now, go back to your database in Enterprise Manager and make sure all 3 tables are there and look ok. You might need to do a refresh or two to see them.

Now make sure an existing or new SQL user has (public / datareader / datawriter) permissions for all three tables. You reference this user in the asp code connection string so this user must be set up correctly. You may need your SQL server admins or hosting company to help you on this step as you may not have access to do this. You may not need to create a user and set permissions as the sql user you were logged in as to use query analyzer may by default get the correct permissions on anything you create.

Regardless, as you can see from this screenshot I have a SQL user called "aspprotectuser" and proceeded to set the permissions for that user. Under database access giving him (public, datareader, and datewriter permissions).

Now, you are done upgrading your SQL Server Database.

The existing passwords still have to be encrytped and moved from the "Old_Password" to the "Password" field

To that we have a special page we run in the application that will take care of that.

So, for now... go install the application, but using the database we just created.
Follow these instructions for the most part...
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=181& ; ;PN=1

When you get to the part where you finally get into the admin area and need to make an admin account you will notice that your existing user database is there but none of the users have passwords if you look at them in the edit screen.

That is normal. Simply do what the instructions say and create and admin account using a username that does not exist..

Then log off... then back in as that new admin account. If that works you are ready to convert the passwords.

This part is very easy.

You want to run a special page via the browser.

http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp

Replacing the part in blue with your website info.

Once you get the page running you will see a login prompt and one form field just like before with the "get_me_in.asp" page

You will need to paste the "PasswordEncryptionKey" value that you used in the "config_inc.asp" file in the form field and hit enter.

If all goes well you will see a page telling you to click here to encrypt the passwords and copy them over.

So do what it says... dont click more than once and wait.

Eventually it should say it is finished. So go log in to the admin area of the system using the new admin account.

Now edit some users but dont save... you want to see if the passwords are showing up. If they are the conversion worked. If you see nothing or a garbled mess it did not work and you made a mistake during this whole process.

If things went well backup and delete the conversion file below.

http://www.mysite.com/password_admin/convert_to_encrypted.asp

You do not need it anymore.

Once you are positive every thing is running smoothly and everyone's passwords are ok you can go in and delete the "Old_Password" field as well.

If things didnt go well.. try again from scratch and go slowly.
If they still dont go well get ahold of us for help.

We are here to help, but if you really want us to we can be hired to do the conversion.

,

all that docmunetation is online as well right here so you dont really need the chm file
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/info24.htm

the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?

, hi,

Sounds like permissions.. the text file that the config file data is not being written to.

open the file "data/config/aspbanner_unlimited_config.asp" with a text editor and see if your values are getting saved.. if they are not its permissions to that folder and file as far as not saving config settings goes.

You may also want to check out "data/show_path_info.asp" which if run from the browser has info on manual/alternate setup scenarios.. as far as what directories you put things in and also editing the config file manually.

lastly make sure the filesystem object is not disabled by something like norton script blovking or something similar which can also cause trouble regarding writing to text files.

,

ok, I am home.. missed flight.. just got home an hour ago.

lets see.. I really need more info...

For starters are you using the delayed stats feature ? that is expirmental and could cause that problem

,

Hi Chris,

The password is HANNAH.  If you're into trouble shooting mode and would like the key, I can send it to you.  If not, no big deal, I've email the guy a new password.  We'll see how many rounds it takes him to get it right.

Thanks,
Mick

MSACCESS 2000

server: windows

option pack: yes (after the install I have this problems with groups and edit users )

host permissions: yes

MESSAGGE:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP0113' Script time out/password_admin/groups.asp The maximum amount of the time for a script to execute was exceeded. ...

vaghelis38300.5484143519,

Just as an FYI, I found the problem.  FP2003 has an "Optimize" feature that removes so called not needed spaces and comments from the pages.  It also completely screws up .ASP code.

I turned off the optimization feature and all the pages I was having problems with worked.  However, I would still recommend not using it too!

,

I would say that it isn't all that difficult using mySQL for the backend....the main thing is to make sure you set the primary keys for auto-incrementing in your database.  Alos need to make sure that any DELETE SQL statements are formatted like this

DELETE FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue

and not

DELETE * FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue

The same holds true for using MSSQL

, Thank you!!

Yippee!

Laura
, how would anyone recommend i go about setting a different expiration date for each group a user may belong to?,

Actually, your whole site is like that.

http://www.bones.myftpsite.net/rfamilystuff/

You should definetly fix that..
I can't help ya with it though. You'll have to figure it out.

I know ya can do it...

later

cwilliams38394.7738657407, "do you know a way around the BinaryRead problem with ASPProtect?"

Let me rephrase:

Do you know a way in which ASPProtect can be modified to get around the BinaryRead problem?

Thanks,
Michelle
, Oh also, I tried to run the asp on my machine (win XP) and unless I'm missing something fairly obvious, I cannot get it to run correctly...when previewing it, I see all the code instead of what I should be seeing.,

Did you see this thread. It shows how to set up the project in Visual Studio in detail.

http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo85-1.htm

,

I dont know about your error on line 6 when uploading..

as far as the manaully edited import file not working I would really need to see it. There has to be somethin wrong with it's format.

I really need more information and possibly acess to the system to do some troubleshooting...

This is anot a feature anyone has ever had an issue like this with.

, The application is only intended for use with the way it comes.
Use of other currencies is not supported.
(this is noted on the product page)

However, it can probably be used fairly easily with UK customers.

You'll probably want to look into setting the currency to UK in the code generated for the PayPal buttons which is in "view_item.asp". There is probably a hidden form variable you add to it to specify the currency. PayPal's shopping cart documentation and help system would have more info on that.

Doing a search real quick there I came up with this.

<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="GBP">

Then you may also want to change the LCID settings for the web site to UK. (I think)

To do that edit the "config_inc.asp" file with a text editor.

Add this code between the <% and %> tags.
Near the top is good

Session.LCID = 2057

There may also be hard coded dollar signs in the code that you will need to change to whatever.. If after you do the above to steps you see then you'll know where to change them based on the named of the page you on.

It is quite possible that simply changing the LCID will take care of everything, but I am not sure.

Those are the tips I can give you. ,

Have SQL 2000 backend...
We just moved from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, used import data routine in SQL to move data.

Logged into admin area. When adding new user, no record is created. However, editing record works just fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

,

I was able to get it all figured out.  Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.  I ended up copying the database with the password to the directory and used the user/password connection code and it works great.  I believe it was related to that but I cannot be sure.  Thanks again!

,

Anyway,

How busy your site is actually won't be the only factor. Really the application should not restart unless something happens. If the IIS application is reseting alot it could very well be the ISP restarting the server or doing IISRESETS as well or other sites on the server causing the application pools to restart.. etc etc etc  Quality ASP hosting is important. Regardless your hosting company most likely will not admit to anything be out of the ordinary.

As far as that directory deleting itself on you.. I doubt they will have an answer for that one. All I can tell for sure is I didn't put any code to delete it in there.
