Glad it worked
cwilliams38406.5549074074, Not really. The way I thought activity would work is that I would always see the last 50 users. Not sure what controls that and why I wasn't seeing it, but it sounds like it is an IIS thing and since my site is not all that busy, it will not show the users if some process has reset the numbers. Not a big deal.
As for the log files, I think it is related to my other question regarding the export directory. I have the ISP looking into things at thier end to see if they are doing anything that could cause the directories to disappear.
Thanks,
Dave
,
It looks like your product is perfect for my new site, but I have one question. One of the pages I want to protect on my site will be called by an application running on a remote server every 15 seconds. The application can include the username and password in the URL it is calling. Will your product allow access to the protected page on my server? , When I add a user, I can not activat it.
It sends me back to log on and will now allow me to log in as admin???
I can restart the APP and log in as Admin, but the user I added
is still not activated??
My system will also not allow me to set the Stay Loged in FLag.
It just ignores it....
, dsn-less is the way to go..
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo9-2.htm
you also need to use newer versions of the database as the odbc drivers on the server are sometimes very new and no longer work with access 97 databases
, I have added two users in different group access but none of them can login to the pages
, ok, PM me some additional info so I can go look around.
I dont quite understand everything going on.
Let me know what to do exactly to be successful logging in and also...
Let me know what to do exactly to reproduce the issue and I will tell you what I think.
, You might just learn something and actually get your project finished before 2010
your over there hacking away on your virus infested WaReZ machine
LOL thanks for the good laugh-- i guess its time to do some reading and making my own mods to the program..
btw i never insulted cafrepress.. not sure where you got that from- just advised that what they have is exactly what i want to have done. How much for your service?
, I'm using Groups and would like to assign all new users to a particular group. How is this done? cwilliams38298.5087384259, Thanks, I'll take a look.

, Hi,
I wanted to see if you had any suggestions for converting from Access to SQL sever database. I attempted this earlier today performing the following steps.
1) Create SQL Tables using Enterprise Manager / SQL Scripts
2) Use DTS to move all of the existing table data to the sql tables.
3) Update dataconn_inc.asp to use SQL and the required connection string.
When these steps were complete I was able to login to ASPProtect as an admin and search / find both groups and users. However, any attempt to edit or create users resulted in a "the page ... had a problem ... " type problem. It seems that I can read from the db fine but and getting errors writing to the tables. The user id that is being used to connect to the db is the [dbo].
Any additional hints for this procedure?
Thanks
Darrell
, Hi,
I need to be able to add about 9 checkboxes to the register.asp. would I be able to use one of the custom fields?
The other thing is once I add the checkboxes the value must be written to the DB and later read when displaying the person's Album.
Any idea on how I can do this.
Thanks
, Very weird for sure but I guarantee no code in ASPProtect is deleting that folder. Something else is going on the server and deleting it and I have no idea what it would be.
Maybe try leaving a blank text file in it and see if the folder disappears after a few days., Well, thats not normal.
(it should work just like our online demo does)
Do you have everything turned on in the settings ?
Uploading needs to be enabled and you also have to pick a valid upload method.
, I have a customer who is asking the following:
... could you make a link from it to our website and is there a way to see what traffic goes from us to them. They are going to pay a commission on sales, however I need to be able to track who views their site...
Wishful thinking or could you add code to track their IP address and display in the report section? Not sure that would be enough to satisfy this request. Suggestions?
Thanks, Lance
, No, because ASPProtect.NET is licensed per and only runs in One website (one iis application)
That error however probably has more to do with parent paths being disabled on the server., Thank you!!
Yippee!
Laura
,
I was told by my ISP to use localhost and it should work and it does not. It does not require authentication to send e-mails.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
, No luck...this is the message
Return To Import / Export Screen.
Active Server Pages
error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/members/aspprotect/password_admin/upload_post.asp
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
, The album ID thing is completely normal and by design. Once an ID in the database is used it can not be used again. That is how autonumber fields in a database work.
As far as not being able to delete images... Are you by chance using ASP.NET to show dynamic thumbnails... Because if you are you must turn that feature off and wait 20 minutes or so (maybe more) before you will be able to delete any of the images. It is because the current version of the ASP.NET script used to make the thumbnails locks the images on the server temporarily anytime it creates a thumbnail.
It is a known issue... and there is no fix at the moment other than what I told you above.
cwilliams38324.744525463, I am having problems with a password a user wants to use. He wants HANNAH. When he (or I) try to log in with his username and password, I get a syntax error -
Syntax error in string in query expression '(Username = 'changedforsecurity') AND (Password = ' éG'.
pathOnComputer../1protect/check_user_inc.asp, line 114
I've obviously changed the username and the server path in the info above for security.
I have not messed with the encryption.
What is it that the system doesn't like in the word HANNAH as a password? I would just change his password for him but this guy has enough trouble just turning the computer on! Confusing him with a new password would take weeks to set him straight.
Thanks,
Mick
, I did a sign up.. your verify URL is not saved/set in the application variables.
try saving the admin settings page again.. or reboot the server so the settings get reloaded
if you can make sure the web is it's own application in IIS
if it is your server do and "iisreset" from the command prompt
if all else fails you got iis application issues with the site... wait till tommoro to see if the setting gets loaded
, there is no straight answer to a question like that..
I think my code is very easy to figure out and work with...
What your asking all depends on your skills and also what sort of payment processing system/merchant account you go with and what sort of ASP example code they provide you, the txt file is only lke 624 kb...so I'm not sure, Looks great. I can't wait until this will be released. Will there also be an easy way to migrate my current version ?
Hans
,
It should be released sometime late May 2004 or early June 2004 but no gurantees as I am pretty busy right now with some projects.
There will be upgrade instructions and it should be a fairly easy upgrade.
Like I said no guarantee... I have a lot of things going on... it might not even be finished till the end of July... customers will always be able to get it for the difference in price
You have the version listed on the site when you purchassed it.
Version 3.0
cwilliams38167.6469328704, You edit the web.config file that came with ASPProtect.NET.
You find this tag
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" />
you change it to this
<customErrors mode="Off" />
If you have a different web.config file in your root I suggest you make sure the tag is set to off there as well for troubleshooting sake
If done correctly you will get a detailed error
It's basic low level ASP.NET stuff really and does not have anything specific to do with ASPProtect.NET.
You also need to make sure your web is set up correctly for ASP.NET and that the correct web.config's are firing..etc etc
cwilliams38454.4368055556, Can you please elaborate on this? I have a flash banner that is on my site. All of the info is in the code banner section. In the banner link section, I have nothing. Do I need to actually edit the swf file with redirect URL? How do I edit the swf file? Once that is edited, do I put the URL of the site in the Link URL space? Thanks. , That is actually normal and supposed to be like that.
You have the current version.
ASPVendor is a VERY simple application meant to work with PayPal shopping cart that runs on their server. It is based off the ASPClassifieds core code. There is only one version and highly doubt there will ever be another., How do I customize the validation email that is sent to users when they first register?, I think its great to share a mod.
I will have few with the new album.
, Microsoft has a free version of SQL server 2000 than you can run on a development machine.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=413 744d1-a0bc-479f-bafa-e4b278eb9147&DisplayLang=en
This is really the same thing as the MSDN version of SQL server that comes with Visual Studio
It is limited in two ways.
No single database can exceed 2 gigabytes in size. However, each Desktop Engine server instance can contain many databases, each of which can be up to 2 gigabytes in size. Each computer can host up to sixteen instances of Desktop Engine.
Performance will rapidly decline when more than five simultaneous users use the database engine at the same time. With five users or less Desktop Engine will operate with full SQL Server speed.
After you install this your going to need a way to connect to your sql server as well as a way to run queires on it.
I suggest either install the client tools off any SQL 2000 Installation Disc (giving you enterprise manager and query manager)
or use the FREE SQL Server Web Data Administrator which will do amost everything you will need to do. It is really very slick
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=127& ; ; ;PN=1
Then you have a pretty sweet setup for testing and developing locally using SQL server.
If you are wondering why someone with a real SQL Server 2000 cd wouldn't just install the real SQL server locally it is because the server part will usually not install on XP Pro or non server versions of windows for licensing reasons. (at least every SQL 2000 CD I have is like that regardless of whether it is standard or enterprise) But the client side tools on the cd are invaluable so I just install the Desktop Version of SQL along with the client side tools and everything works great.
, Those access levels are not used and are nothing to worry about. They are left over from the ASPProtect core which I used for the users area of ASPBanner.
I am not sure what you did but its not a none, Unless I know more I can not make any guesses what happened. I would make sure in the database that the user is active and the expiration date field for them if there is one is empty, You are right.
I have SQL server.
From August to today I have used a very simple login system and now I come back to you for better.
I can insert, edit, delete users but it happens what I mentioned in my first message.
, I am trying to import a database into my list of registered
users. When I go the import_export_manager.asp page most of the
content is missing. All that appears is the first 2 lines of text
and a box. The rest of the page is blank. I have tried this
under 5 different browsers on 3 different machines and on 2 operating
systems. I also ftp'd the original .asp file with no success. Any
clues?
, it's ok
one step at a time and at each step testing things.. then when you mess something up you can figure it out a lot easier
cwilliams38456.1106018519, A very common and extremely bothersome error encountered when running ASP apps that connect to a database is the "80004005" error. It comes in many varieties.
These articles cover it.

cwilliams38102.4447222222, sorry.. you just said above you were using XP SP2 so that is the article I referred you to as I just assumed you were talking about your local web server
here is my article on permissions regarding server 2003

I can look at your installation monday if you like. In about an hour I leave for a wedding thingie and I wont be around again untill monday around noon
Try the uploading using VBSCRIPT method just for the heck of it. Perhaps there is an issue with the installation of the dundas component.

, There really is no default width in general.
The thing to remember is that the default.asp page includes a lot of different pages.. and some of those pages also include pages.
Now all of this gets wrapped by the header and footer include files so in a sense what you do there can effect everything inside to a certain degree.
Now there are some widths set here and there for different tables and what not on certain pages, but its really the kind of situation where you just have to dig around in the code and experiment until you eventualy find what you are looking for and get the desired result.
I'd love to tell you there is easy way to just set a width, but it is not that simple.
Maybe someday it will be. Just not in the current version.

, If we wanted to user groups, is the "Access Level" in the User setup the same ID as what the group access would be? Ex. If John had Access Level 4 and the page specified <% GROUPACCESS = "4" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
I'm asking because there is no Group Access Level in the user setup. Thanks
