They really have do not have anything to do with each other as far as code and numbering goes, but I really do not fully understand your question or where you are going with this. (the part about the user setup ?)
Groups are more powerful than access levels and are meant to replace them. Access Levels are only there for backward compatibilty with older versions. , I need a point or a little insight please.
I need to get information from a credit card authorization called netbilling. I have been looking at your code for PayPal and 2 checkout. I have a feel for the code flow and the relationships of the "includes" .
I have been doing a lot of reading in my books and am seemingly twisted around the axel. I am not expert in ASP I am better in VB. I am not afraid to write code I am just a little nervous about messing up existing relationships.
My plan is simple: code a page to open the database and populate the database fields from netbilling and convert their field name to yours in the database.
I appreciate your time and insight. As in the past I need your help again.
Thanks ,
I encountered a problem that I haven't been able to solve.
I'm trying to get .pdf files to byte serve (page-by-page load in the browser)
but unable to do so. I've narrowed it down to stream download file where it
creates the header object. I haven't made any success with the changes I've
tried. Any help would be very nice.
This maybe useful:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/e n-us/act/htm/actml_ref_href.asp
, I do not have any programming knowledge and have what might be a simple question.
I am having a hard time getting my hosting company to modify the rights on the data folder. They state they support ASP and access databases however this is the response I got when I requested the modify permissions set for the internet guest account:
Were the rights changed on the data folder? No, we do not manage rights to folders.
My question to you is: Doesn't supporting asp require those permissions be set on the database folder or can asp (not just aspprotect) work without those rights modified?
Thanks , yes. what you are talking about has to do with norton ad blocking software.. it blocks images or paths that have the word "ad" in them.. and you see red x's where images should be on web sites.. usually
it is different then what this thread initially mentions which has to do with a code/server issue with the application variables. , If you run asplistings auto in its own folder with its own application in IIS. Connected to its own database.
And you run your other version of ASPListiings in its own folder with its own application in IIS. Connected to its own database.
You will have zero major changes to make to anything... other than what you did above..
But remember theyare the same app and share a lot of thing including sessions and application variables.. that is why if they are installed in the same domain each one needs its own application set in the IIS console so they run seperately of one another. cwilliams38312.5189814815, again I will ask you what is the real error??
see the link above when I asked you the 1st time. (I need the error details and line number.. etc etc)
and what kind of a server are you trying to run it on ? you mention xp pro but in a confusing way ? , ok,
IE and firefox do some things differently.
It could very well have to do with MIME types set on the server for your website. pdf probably isnt set as a mime type which can cause issues with file streaming situations.
Mime types are either set in the IIS console for your web site under the http headers tab or you can try setting the content-type header to 'application/pdf' right on the asp page the does the streaming
see this article which shows how to do that http://psacake.com/web/gj.asp
'Specify a MIME type such as "text/html", "image/gif" or "application/pdf" Response.contenttype = "application/pdf" 'Useful in cases for unknown file types
You would want to put the code that sets the contentype as close to the top of the asp page doing the streaming as possible. , Wondering what might be causing a long delay to display the login screen? This does seem to be intermittent. Could be server/ISP related? Have experienced enough times to justify posting this question.
I can count up to 20 seconds after clicking on the link. After login all other selections zip right along without problem.

Thanks, Lance lancem38319.6117939815, Of course ASP.NET is and HAS been installed. I have been running asp.net scripts for years on it. I am not new to asp.net nor setting up the server or anything. ASP.NET is properly installed and works perfectly.
You are missing the fact i mentioned it is a DOMAIN CONTROLLER.
I have come across MANY articles ONLINE via GOOGLE that mention if it is a domain controller, for some reason the aspnet account is not there or gets deleted.
IN ITS PLACE GOES THE IIS_WPG ACCOUNT. IS YOUR SOFTWARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS ACCOUNT?
Is it possible to run ASP.NET scripts without ASP.NET not being installed? Because I have been running asp.net pages without any problem. , Its not on their end. Using ASP alone you really won't be able to send more than around 300-400 individuals emails at a time before things will time out. Its just that ASP is not an efficient way of sending email and it never will be.
You really should look into worldcast like I mentioned before. http://www.fairlogic.com/worldcast/
Then just export the email list from the database into worldcast and send out the newsletters.
You will get much better results and perfect newsletters and it really only takes a little bit longer to do each time once you figure it out. That is how I send out my PowerASP and CJWSoft newsletters and it works perfectly every time. , Then, you would have to add those users to the aspprotect user database. You would do so using the built in import/export features of msaccess and being very carteful about it. It is not a process we support and the technique used would be unique to any situation. Its basic database work though but still you have to be able to do it.
ASPProtect uses its own user database and you have to use that database. ASPPortect can not authenticate users using some other existing database.
Does that make sense ?,
I can no longer send e-mails to my configured accounts through aspbanner. It was working for over a year and now it stopped.
At one point I was using CDONTS_Installed but since I moved to a new Windows 2003 server I was told by my ISP that either one of these will work
but neither one works. Can some one assist?
JMAIL_Installed
ASPEMAIL_Installed , Update..
I have support for the ibulc image uploading client working.
http://www.ibulc.com/
There is also an option in asp photo gallery pro to store the images original filename in the description field which is pretty cool.
Ibulc client bulk upload support currently only works with the pure vbscript upload or the safileup component. (I may support the other two components asp photo gallery can use but it really depends on time) The pure vbscript upload code I am using for this is much better than the code I was using before so that method should be offer decent performance for anyone though using a component is always better.
I still have to add the ibulc feature to the users side. It currently all only works for an admin user.
The whole process is very cool. You install the ibulc client on you computer. It's tiny, and free for uploading up to 10 (100kb) pictures at once. You have to by a domain license from them to do more than 10. Anyway.. it lets you select multiple pictures off your hard drive and it then uploads them all at once with individual progress info for each picture. Its really cool and since it really treats each picture as an individual upload it doesn't hammer the server with one big upload at once.
I also made it so you can start the picture uploads at any picture number. So if you already have pictures in an album you can add more without losing what is already there.
This was one of the main features of the new version and now that it is working hopefully I can tie up any loose ends and get the new version out soon. cwilliams38327.5488541667, I would also double check that you changed the field size correctly and on the correct database that is being used in the connection string
, Chris-
That appears to have fixed it!!! Thanks alot for your patience, I will never question your brilliance (or customer service) again! Where do I write you a smashing review?
Thanks!
, If you have an album with more than 96 pictures, the spacing in the tables can become incorrect, with pictures touching each other. (This program is not designed to handle more than 96 pictures due to server speed, but it can handle more than 96 with minor changes to the code.) Also, after 96 pictures, the pictures will not have 6 on a line, but rather 6 on a line up to 96 pictures and then the rest of the pictures on one line next to each other extending to the right of the screen endlessly. To fix this, I simply edited the ASP code using the following loop. It can be a perminent fix, because I used the maxpicsperalbum variable to define the spacing.
<% Dim SixInterval For SixInterval = 2 to maxpicsperalbum SixInterval = SixInterval + 5 %> <% If PicIndex = SixInterval THEN %> </tr> <tr> <% End If %> <% Next %>
Then, the following code must be commented out:
<% If PicIndex = 6 or PicIndex = 12 or PicIndex = 18 or PicIndex = 24 or PicIndex = 30 or PicIndex = 36 or PicIndex = 42 or PicIndex = 48 or PicIndex = 54 or PicIndex = 60 or PicIndex = 66 or PicIndex = 72 or PicIndex = 78 or PicIndex = 84 or PicIndex = 90 or PicIndex = 96 Then %> </tr> <tr> <% End If %>
This code can be found in scripts/view_album_style*STYLE NUMBER*_inc.asp . (STYLE NUMBER depending on which style you are using (found in config file))
This change in code will enter a new table row after each 6th picture. You can have more or less than 6 pictures per line depending on the width of your files and preference by changing changing the number 5 in this line of code: SixInterval = SixInterval + 5
If you have any questions, JPortnoy@Checkernet.com
jamapor38210.5987384259, sure and thats probably what you should do... that pure asp upload thing must not be able to handle the size of your import file... another thing which can very .. also some versions of IIS require registry changes to upload bigger files via asp code alone , sorry, I am guilty of being very tired and didnt read your message fully.
I know this forum area is called "database connection issues" but it is only meant for generic issues.
Issues specific to a particular application need to go in that applications area in the forum. It keeps the forums more organized and helps other people fnd help later on.
So please post in the correct area. I will answer this question soon. I have to do something 1st though. , Chris,
I've given the IUSR account modify access for the aspprotect folder.
In the ODBC manager module on the webserver I've taken out the aspprotect access driver option.
The dataconn_inc.asp line reads as
ConnectionString = "DBQ=D:\missourirealtor.org\members\aspprotect\data\database \ASPProtect_access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp"
Now this should make it DNS-less correct? with the permissions set properly?
I've also taken out the password on the access database.
The original database of users I had was an access database from a different program called spooky login. I exported them into a tab delimited file and changed the column headings to match those in aspprotect exactly. Actually access would not let me import them in the databases without them being exact.
I imported that information directly using access's import options. I tried the import/export manager in aspprotect but kept timing out as well.
, Hi, Its just a generic error that really doesn't mean much of anything except that something wrong with your data connection.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo27-1.htm
could be invalid permissions on the database folder... could be any number of things
when setting up your connection I suggest going dsn-less. http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo9-1.htm
It is better/faster and also a lot easier to set up. , Tony,
ASPBanner.NET was discontinued about 14 months ago. It is no longer supported in any way because quite frankly the classic ASP version is faster, more stable, has more features, and is a lot easier to install and get running.
If you PM me via the forum you are welcome to a copy of the current ASP Unlimited Version. It can serve banners to any type of page extension. All you have to do is ask for a copy.
Whether or not your existing ASPBanner.NET database is exactly the same structure I do not know, but I believe it is. You should compare the two if you plan to keep using the old database and make any neccessary changes so the old database has the exact same structure as the new version. If there are any differences they are very few. , in that file "upload_post.asp"
change
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Response.End End If %>
to
<% If Session("Admin") <> "True" Then Response.End End If %>
, After turning off the friendly errors, here is the detail.
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131' Disallowed Parent Path

ANSWER: http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5&K W=Disallowed+Parent+Path+ lancem38310.6408101852, First pass through, I don't see anything changed in the groups section of the check_user asp file. the logoff asp wasn't touched.
I noticed the demo online (on this site) only has pages protected with access levels; you say it works fine with groups also? , Hello..
I actually noticed something was up with your install earlier... (I saw you in my log files when you clicked to cjwoft from the docs)
I need more info... like what uploading method your using.. what image resizing component, what widths yoru resizing things to... etc
have you tried it while telling it to delete the pics and also while not telling it not to delete them from the import folder
I might have to take a look tommoro as well to really figure it if that is ok
I have to go the bar to meet some friends so I wont be of much more help tonight :)
I been working steady all week and need a few.
CJW , I have a user who is trying to login. However, I am getting a error that I can't seem to find. Username: executive.barcheski Password: executive@amcpc.com

Any ideas
Jason Johnson , I assume so you can clean up users that register, but then never pay ?, My guess it they are runnign some sort of ad blocking software like norton ad blocking. Something on the client side blocking ads or anything with the word ad in it.
I would investigate that., (Password Expiration Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This Advanced Mod requires decent knowledge of Databases and working with ASP. I originally wrote something like this for a customer on a custom project. I then took the time to re-write all the code from scratch so it could easily be plugged in to the current version of ASPProtect as an option. All in all this mod took me over 15 hours of time to develop and will save you a ton of time & money if you were planning on writing something like this on your own. Some parts of this were so difficult to get working that I would never have written this code if I was not paid to do so. (The encrypted array that rotates through the last 12 passwords was quite frustrating to get working)
The price on this is 19.95. I am not incorporating this into the base product because it makes things more complicated and isn't for everyone.
Purchase Page
Security is a big concern and making your users change their password every so often is a good idea. Keeping track of previous passwords they used and making them choose something they haven't used before takes the concept even further.
This Mod will add a password expiration date to the application. When the password expiration date is hit the user must confirm their old password as well as pick a new one before they can log in again.
There is a new password expiration directory where they must choose a new password that has not been used before. The new password must be confirmed during this process. (It remembers 12 old passwords the way it is coded) The old passwords are stored in the database in an encrypted array.
Directions: Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
Add two new fields to the "ASPP_Users" table in your database.
For an MSAccess Database
Password_Expiration_Date (Date_Time Field) PreviousPasswords (Memo Field)
For a MSSQL Database
Password_Expiration_Date (smalldatetime) PreviousPasswords (nvarchar 160 characters)
once that is done
Copy all the new ".asp" pages into your site.
Edit the "PasswordExpirationURL" variable in the "check_user_inc.asp" file
It needs to be the full URL to to the "change_password/default.asp" file
Now edit the "change_password/processchange.asp" file
There are 3 variables you can edit.
PageSentToAfter = "http://localhost/aspprotectmods/password_admin/default.asp" PassMinLength = 4 PassMaxLength = 8
The "PageSentToAfter" is where you want them sent to after they change the password. It can be whatever you like. If it is a protected page they should automatically get logged in with the new password they just changed to which is nice.
The other two values should be obvious.
That's it...
Just remember the password change thing is not used in the admin area... You could easily add code for that on your own though by looking at the the password expiration code I added to the publics "check_user_inc.asp" file
Also: You will see a new field to edit on the user edit screen for the Password Expiration of course. , All can say right now is take a break and get away from it for a bit. All your going to do is stress yourself out more if you keep working on it.
There is probably a way to make it work but it may require days of fiddling around and reading articles and trying things and even then you may not get it working AND THEN ITS JUST A BAD IDEA ANYWAY. Like John says you are better off running it on a server that is not a domain controller. , I have never heard of such a thing... If the settings are enabled for the web it should work. That is, as long as your include file syntax is valid.
I run my own windows 2003 server (you are on it now) so I should know
for troubleshooting
try a very very simple example... like a file in a folder.. with a server side include to a file under it
and see if that works
use real simple asp files with nothing crazy in them... and an include like this
<!--#include file = "../myfile.asp"--> cwilliams38434.5388773148, It should be released sometime late May 2004 or early June 2004 but no gurantees as I am pretty busy right now with some projects.
There will be upgrade instructions and it should be a fairly easy upgrade. , Post a request in the "custom code work" forum. Perhaps another customer will want to do the work or help you out with some code.
I am just too busy to do any custom work for quite a while.
, I dont what it is..u got to just keep trying stuff like connecting to different versions of the database and maybe even the version with no password set on it.. maybe do some iisresets in between if it is your server.. maybe try putting the database in a different folder
Usually people have zero trouble setting up this particular app because everything is so time tested and rock solid...
its just got to be something related to the actual data connection.. low level stuff , Hi,
The source code comes with it. They are the.vb files.
I don't give out any project files for reasons stated in the article below.
Please read this in full if you want to edit the application in Visual Studio.NET
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo85-1.htm , I had a question about user registration and how it works, mainly because I am having a problem.
When a user registers, with the email verification setting, I am assuming that there is supposed to be a new record created in the USERS table in the database. What could cause this not to happen?
Actually, in testing further I found that with the setting at Auto, Manual, or email, the record is not added to the table. And, if I am logged in as admin, the Add User button does not do anything.
I can however edit and delete user records...
Hmmm, adding a Category yields the same thing. And loggin in as a non-admin user still displays some of the menu items for admin, but then gives a page can not be found error if you click on one (ie, approve).
This looks like a db issue to me, I will have to try this with access and on a test server...
Any thoughts?
- Jason
cwilliams38303.8507291667, I did not set that variable in the IPN code that aspprotect uses. It is optional.
You will want to download PayPal's IPN documentation and see what the variable is called and then add it to the IPN form code if you want to use it.
it will be a hidden form variable (one line of code added to) paypal2.asp, ya, that firewall could mess that up.
just edit which ever style include you are using (with a text editor)
it will be one of these depending on your settings.. and they are located in the "scripts" directory
view_album_style1_inc.asp view_album_style2_inc.asp view_album_style3_inc.asp
find this section of code and remove the part in red
If Last_Counter_IP <> Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") Then Set CmdUpdateCounter = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") cmdTemp.CommandText = "SELECT " & tbl_label_albums & ".* FROM " & tbl_label_albums & " WHERE (Album_ID = " & Album_ID & ")" cmdTemp.CommandType = 1 Set cmdTemp.ActiveConnection = ConnGallery CmdUpdateCounter.Open cmdTemp, , 1, 3 CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Album_Counter") = (Album_Counter + 1) CmdUpdateCounter.Fields("Last_Counter_IP") = Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") CmdUpdateCounter.Update CmdUpdateCounter.Close Album_Counter = Album_Counter + 1 End If , On the banner rotation order screen it says:
"The Order Of These Banners Will Change Randomly From Time To Time"
Can you tell me the function that does this? I'd like to increase the frequency with which the rotation order changes.
Thanks! ,
