I assume so you can clean up users that register, but then never pay ?, Sorry you feel that way, not my intention. I'm not threatening anything. I was very happy you responded when did so there no reason for any bad feelings. I like your product as I said before and have no problems with it. Sorry again, that was not my intention. Merry Christmas… ,
Sounds crazy. I recently took over this web site and all IT duties. User today said member area was not working. All pages would not display. After restoring some files I got the members area partially working. But I cannot find where the database sits. I am able to get in and view users in the admin are and log in as a member. Thanks., MODS are NOT SUPPORTED.. questions about them will not be answered in the support forums. If you want to use a MOD you are considered an advanced user and will need to sort out any issues that may or may not come up.
MODS are used at your own risk and may or may not require certain basic coding skills. , If you bought ASPBanner Unlimited Version 7.3 Before August/01/2004 this file needs to be updated.
It fixes a bug where CODE type banners do not work correctly with a weight higher than 1.
Basically, blank banners will rotate and you will see nothing sometimes.
Copy this file into your ASPBanner folder over the existing file of the same name.
2004-08-03_045728_appinfo_inc.zip cwilliams38209.5383680556, I noticed that is grabbing the wrong URL for some reason. Even when i mouse over the URL its somehow getting the users sub directory. How.. i dont know... when i erase that users in the url it works perfectly.
I am looking at the code in the .vb file and i dont see anything that could be causing it to do that... but then again i am no programmer LOL
Its obviously kicking in that users subdirectory somehow... what are your thoughts? , I think I've got it to work somewhat. I modified the 2checkout1 & 2 asp file to use and pass Product_id. It now identifies the product correctly. I'm good fo now. Thanks for the info though.
-Jason , Sorry, there is no option for that.
I'll take it into consideration, but the way the banner rotation logic works would make adding such an option very complicated.
Just give it an expiration date way into the future if you do not want an ad to expire anytime soon.
I usually just make all my ads expire in like 2020 or something like that since I don't want them to stop running either on some of my sites. cwilliams38247.1116319444, "get_me_in.asp" just hangs during a new install. Nothing happens no matter how long you wait and IIS may temporarily hang up as well.
You may very well be running something like norton antivirus with norton script blocker on your server? Or something similar?
It can cause issues when ASP uses the filesystem object and cause never ending page hangs like you are having.
Read this.. http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2180, ahh, I see..
that is not really something you should change.. it is pretty much always going to say read for any folder
It's hard to say, but adjusting settings like that could inadvertently change folder permissions in a way that could cause problems and be hard to correct. I really don't know that for sure but it is very easy to totally mess up permissions when trying different things. In the past I had to reinstall iis just to get things back to normal. I eventually over time learned what to do and what not to do and have never had a problem since. I am not saying you are one of those people but a lot of people have problems because they play around with things they shouldn't or they go nuts trying to give every account permission starting from root folders... overwriting important default permissions instead of just making changes to a few specific folders.. not understanding the importance of what they are doing..... etc etc
Sometimes you practically have to be a NT expert just to fully understand permissions. I know a lot and I can handle my own server but it's hard to explain the low level basic of NT permissions to others as there is a lot to it under the scenes. A lot of hard core NT/2000 users do all the permissions from the command prompt because there is a lot more control at that level.
Like I said earlier, what you showed me looks right but this isn't a complex issue and the error means what it means. Something isn't right with the permissions.
I would start from scratch if I were you. Perhaps consider doing an install in a new web instead of in your root like you showed me. Or try installing it on another machine for troubeshooting sake.
I am sorry I can't think of some amazing answer on this one, but I think this is just one of those weird situations that requires starting from scratch or trying it on another machine. , ok, I downloaded v7 3/7/2005
I entered a password that was supposed to be all caps with only first letter caps.
it is odd, if I go to other user and enter wrong password that does not come up. it apprpriately goes to a screen that says Access Denied.
thx , Not to be pushy, but how's the new version progressing?
I'm hoping these features will be in it:
- possibly add the ability to move pictures around in an album. and maybe between albums, I must also remember to move the ratings and desc as well for that image.
- possibly add a feature to store 3 versions of images uploaded
thumbnail, medium res, and high res/original
-
add option to store the images orginal name in the images description area during upload may be helpful to people that name their images in a somewhat descriptive way
-
add support for the ibulc bulk upload client that I recently discovered
If you could use a beta tester, I'm still just setting up my site and would be willing to run a beta.
Thanks
Al , I've encountered another problem. When i edit the link for existing banners and save it, the banner reverts to the old link instead of the new one.
The directory where the the database is located to rwed so the permissions is not a problem.
Any advice?
Thanks
, I just got home from a lonnng trip.. I will try to answer this 1st thing in the morning.
CJW, Your probably talking about "Session.Timeout" which is a feature of the IIS webserver. Please do a google search on it for more information.
In the meatime if you look at the top of the "check_user_inc.asp" file you should see a section like this where you can try to change the value.
' Minutes you want before the session times out. ' This is set on the server to be default to 15 or 20 minutes depending on the server version ' You can change it there or override it here. Session.Timeout = 30
Specifying it like that is supposed to overwrite the value for your web in the IIS console which is usualy 20 minutes.
, Will purchasing an additional license resolve the issue which will allow another installation or is this a function of the application that it can only protect one site per server?, When using the ASPProtect admin panel. My firewall software is going crazy or Blocking it on the Mass E-Mail, Newsletter, and other pages.
Here are some of the messages:
[Unauthorized Access Attempt] This signatures detects an attempt by a web server to deliver a malicious HTML page to a browser client, in an
[Suspicious Activity] This signature detects HTML documents attempting to spoof a link destination in the browser's status bar.
I am using Black Ice...
Will users also get this kind of activity from the pages ??? Or is it only because of using the Admin Interface of the software ???
Thanks
, humm.. their FAQ is interesting...it looks like some sort of .NET configuration issue regarding security policies like you mentioned
Thats one of the big problems with hosting .NET. Some hosting companies just do do some oddball things. ASPProtect.NET works under default conditions but when hosts go around locking things down to the max there is bound to be trouble. This is the 1st I have heard of this.
Now, ASPProtect.NET does use the "System.Data.OleDb" and "System.Data.Odbc" which your host says they block because they require full trust.
All I can really say at the moment is go with a hosting company like www.alentus.com or www.maximumasp.com that does not restrict your .NET abilities so much.
In the meantime I am going to ask John Evans what he thinks about this.
, I assume you mean 500 pixels wide
no.. because you cant reliably tell a pictures image width without an image resizing component to look it up.. asp can not do things like that on its own
serverobjects has a free component called "imagesize" that can do it as well but you need access to the server to install the component http://www.serverobjects.com/products.htm
so if you cant do that with regular asp code you definetly can not stop the upload proces because the picture is too wide..
heck, that would be nearly imposible to do regardless.. even with the best 3rd party components at your disposal
even with an image resizing component you would have to allow the upload.. then check the pixel width.. then delete it.. tell the user what is going on...etc etc .. all a very complicated process
, Its not on their end. Using ASP alone you really won't be able to send more than around 300-400 individuals emails at a time before things will time out. Its just that ASP is not an efficient way of sending email and it never will be.
You really should look into worldcast like I mentioned before. http://www.fairlogic.com/worldcast/
Then just export the email list from the database into worldcast and send out the newsletters.
You will get much better results and perfect newsletters and it really only takes a little bit longer to do each time once you figure it out. That is how I send out my PowerASP and CJWSoft newsletters and it works perfectly every time. , and when I go to your now.. its very fast again.., [QUOTE=cwilliams]
It should be released sometime late May 2004 or early June 2004 but no gurantees as I am pretty busy right now with some projects.
There will be upgrade instructions and it should be a fairly easy upgrade.
[/QUOTE]
Like I said no guarantee... I have a lot of things going on... it might not even be finished till the end of July... customers will always be able to get it for the difference in price
You have the version listed on the site when you purchassed it. Version 3.0 cwilliams38167.6469328704, I downloaded the skins, ftp'd them to the skins folder and can see them in the list of available skins. No matter which one I try to apply it keeps solid_color_black.
Al , Still not ready... I have no time to finsih it at the moment..
release date is unknown...
, that's they way it should be done..
the only other thing would have been to test everything with sql before trying to import any data.. and make sure all was fine at that stage
more info on the errors would be helpful.
Id' also carefully visually compare the SQL tables and fields with the SQL scripts and make sure all field types and settings got set correctly.
Also, make sure the user accessign the database has datareader and datawriter permissions of course. , when I go to that url is seems fairly fast and somewhat normal.. even when I try to log in it pops right back up asking for login info again..
I would check to make sure you are not running anything that might be effecting your web browsing.. software firewalls.. ad blockers.. script blockers... norton internet security.. zone alarm... anything like that
they can all effect a lot of things regarding how web browsers act. , Now that I think about you may very well be able to use the existing login_form_inc.asp page
the header and footer files for the users area may be ok as well.
probably the smart thing to do is try your old ones and compare them to the new and see if everything you need is there. If not add it by looking at the source html and comparing.
All other files should definetly be replaced with the new. , ok... lets forget about all this redirecting business for a minute
when I go to "GP01.asp" directly via your web site I get a big nasty error that says this
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/protect/config_inc.asp, line 15 Dim Address_Required,CDONTS_Installed,City_Required,Registration _Type,VerifyURL,Log_Off_Page
----^
then when I look at what you did in that file I see why
you have this code which is totally wrong because you cannot include the password protection file twice <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
it should be <%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> and that is probably the root of this entire problem.. the redirection was working... but you were sending them to invalid pages with errors
all those pages are wrong... if you dont see the real error above see this http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo11-1.htm
if you look over the aspprotect 7 installation instructions that is the very 1st thing I tell people to do
hopefully this is the info you need to continue and get some work done , I think I have successfully integrated Paypal but seem to have a slight
issue. Once a person has entered the Paypal site but cancels their
order, the ad is still placed on the site. The optimal way for my site
to work would be to cancel the ad once the Paypal process has been
cancelled. Any help would be great.
Thanks
, lmao ... ya that has never happend to me before.... , Ya, you must have tried to upgrade from a really really old version like you said which wouldnt really work out because those instructions are specifically for upgrading a version 6 database to version 7.
That line error you had was looking for the User_ID field and I bet the version you had was so old that you didnt have a field named that as a few years ago the field "ID" got renamed to "User_ID"
As for all the cool stuff... yup there is a lot of cool stuff in this version... glad ya like it so far cwilliams38418.8164930556, Hey, I thought I'd share this tip with the ASPProtect community...
If you'd like to remove, modify, or add fields to the "Users" view in
the password_admin default.asp page, it's really easy to do. Well, at
least it was for me. I'm using an MS Access database, by the way.
For me, I don't need "Company" info, but I do need last access and # of
times accessed displayed. Therefore, I had to change the default page
in three areas:
In /password_admin/default.asp, go to about line 185 or so, where you see stuff like:
[code]<td valign="bottom"><font face="Arial" color="#000000"
size
="2"><b>First Name& lt;/b> </font></td> [/code]
OK, those are the column headings. Each one corresponds to a column
from your USERS table in your database. There are two more areas to
consider, both of which appear immediately after this section.
The next section has statements that look like this:
[code]<td valign="bottom"><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+ASC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_ascending.gif" Alt="Sort
Ascending"></a><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+DESC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_descending.gif" Alt="Sort
Descending"></a></td>[/code]
See the "First_Name" items? The first is for an ascending sort, the
second for a descending. This particular line corresponds to the code
snippet immediately above it. But all this does is handle the sorting.
For the actual data, look lower for this stuff:
[code] <td bgcolor="<% = Cellbgcolor
%>"><font face="Arial" size="1"> <%=
CmdListUsers("First_Name")
%& gt; </font></td> [/code]
It's a good ways down, so don't be impatient if you don't see it in 10
lines from the end of the last mentioned section. This stuff handles
the display of the data from the database (where else ya gonna get
data, anyway?)...
Now, to remove a field, you need to find the three sets that go with
that data. The ascending/descending sort is potentially the trickiest,
because it's the longest set of data and can take a number of lines.
Just clear it from the start td to the end /td and you'll be fine.
To *add* a field, copy and paste the code from an existing field and
modify it. In the first one, the column title, you can type whatever
you want to describe your info. Nobody but you and your admins will see
it. For the next two sections, though, you need to get the correct
column heading from the USERS table and use that to correct the lines
in the copied code you pasted in.
For example, when I added a column to show the number of times a user
logged in, I copied the above snippets and pasted them in where I felt
the column I needed should be. Then, in the first one, I changed "First
Name" to "Logins". In the ascending/descending snippet, I changed
First_Name to Counter. Same for the last snippet.
The result? A new column, showing the number of logins my users were successful with.
Of course, before you experiment, back up your existing default.asp file, JUST IN CASE.
Have fun!
, 1st: try it with a normal dsn-less connection like we show in the example.. dont use that OLEDB.4.0 connection string.. connecting like that can cause a lot of problems and is not as great as everyone thinks it is and it can sometimes be difficult to get it working when the database has a password set on it
For the sake of troubleshooting just connect like so: (fixing the path of course)
ConnectionString = "DBQ=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspprotect\data\database\ASPProtect_ access2002.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=Admin;Password=temp"
ASPProtect will generate the actual connection string you should use when you run this page
http://www.mysite.com/data/setup_info.asp
Replacing the part in blue with your website info.
2nd: any IIS server setup to have the access database over the network path like that has a poor setup... and that can cause all sorts of problems as well, access is not designed to run over the network like that.. for more on that read this thread - Start 5 posts down http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=479&KW =OLEDB%2E4%2E0
3rd: If the app does not run using the connection string like I say to use then the problem is 100% on their end and is either related to permissions or the fact they are keeping the access database on a network path which is BAD BAD BAD... no quality host that knew what they are doing would set it up that way.. ultimately you don't want to host asp with a place that has a setup like that
4th: If you want to try some other stuff out we have a free guestbook, asptest, and a free version of aspbanner you can try out as well... www.cjwsoft.com
5th: If you need a quality asp host that knows what they are doing and offers great asp support www.alentus.com is the place
6th: Your right, it is not the code, its the data connection , I have never heard of such a thing... If the settings are enabled for the web it should work. That is, as long as your include file syntax is valid.
I run my own windows 2003 server (you are on it now) so I should know
for troubleshooting
try a very very simple example... like a file in a folder.. with a server side include to a file under it
and see if that works
use real simple asp files with nothing crazy in them... and an include like this
<!--#include file = "../myfile.asp"--> cwilliams38434.5388773148, If you need to know how to enable them on your test server.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5&P N=1
, so you are using the subscriptions signup directory right ? "paypal_signup2" ?
1st.. I would check that the xml parser is working.
It is required for making the post back to paypal. It is installed on windows 2000 and 2003 and XP by default.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=134& ; ; ; ; ; ;PN=1
Then I would check the actual form page to paypal to make sure it is generating a valid IPN url as a hidden form value. It's the payment page you actually click on that actually takes you to paypal. For the subscription signup system that page is called "paypal1.asp"
You'll want to go through the process starting with the default.asp of the signup folder untill you get to that page. Then you want to look at the html source of that page in Internet Explorer. Your looking for something like this in the source code and you want to make sure it is valid.
<input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value=http://www.mysite.com/aspprotect/paypal_sub_signup/ipn.asp>
It also has to a url on the internet that paypals server can see. It can not be a local url for your machine. Also: If it is not valid we can try hard coding it.
If all of these things are good I'll have to take a look. I have some text file logging I can do when paypal hits your IPN url that can tell us if it is actually hitting that page like it is supposed to. And I can test the system for you by making some 1 cent payments using my own paypal account until we find out what is going wrong.
cwilliams38421.5686921296, now. I just went to that url and this is the error I see which shows me there is a character in the source code that shouldnt be there which is causing the page to halt.
Looks like a "carrot".
