I just installed the software, but I can't find any place where I can see when users logged in, can someone please tell me where I can do this?
Thanks , I am having problems accessing the admin site at the following URL:
http://www.drsweisberg.com/password_admin/default.asp
It brings up the login page, but when I enter the admin/test, it times out. The DB is the copy with no password and it resides in a directory on the same server hosting the site but it is not in a folder viewable by web users. This is how the dataconn_inc.asp is set:
<% '*** Below are the only two settings you need to edit in this file ConnectionString = "DSN=drweisberg;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}" DatabaseType = "MSACCESS" %>
The ODBC is setup and the IUSR has read/write/modify permissions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. ,
Nope,
No changes to any scripts - just a response.write added to Email_Password.asp to print out the SQL.
Sure - here's the address.
www.omegaphibeta.net/aspprotect/users/Email_Password.asp
-Toni
P.S. E-mail address to look for is serena_5@hotmail.com , (Capcha Security Image Mod)
This mod will add a Capcha Security Image to the registration signup form.

Instructions:
Download the latest version of the ASP Security Image Generator from this site. http://www.tipstricks.org/
Unzip that download and copy "aspcaptcha.asp" and "aspcaptcha_distort.asp" into the aspprotect "users" folder.
Now edit "users/register.asp" with a text editor and add the code shown below in blue. The code to add goes near the bottom of the form right above the submit button. Just add the blue code. The code around it is shown to help you find the area of code where it gets placed.
<tr> <td valign="top" align="right"><font face="Arial" size="2"><strong> Newsletter</strong></font></td> ; ; ; ; ; ; ; <td valign="top"> <input type="checkbox" name="Newsletter" value="True" checked> <font face="Arial" size="1">Do you want to be subscribed to the newsletter ?</font></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" align="right"></td> <td valign="top"> <img src="aspcaptcha.asp" alt="" width="86" height="21" /> <font face="Arial" size="2" color="#000000">Type the characters shown in image for verification.</font><br> <input name="strCAPTCHA" type="text" id="strCAPTCHA" maxlength="8" /></td> </tr>
<tr> <td colspan="2" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <p align="center"><input type="submit" value="Register"></p> </td> </tr>
ok, now edit "users/add_new_account.asp" with a text editor and add the code shown below in blue. Just add the blue code. The code around it is shown to help you find the area of code where it gets placed.
If User_Custom6_Used = True Then If User_Custom6_Required = True Then If Custom6 = "" Then ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You need to enter a " & User_Custom6_Name &".\n\n") End IF End If End If strCAPTCHA = Trim(Request.Form("strCAPTCHA")) if strCAPTCHA = Trim(Session("CAPTCHA_" & Session.SessionID)) then else ErrorMessage = ErrorMessage & Server.URLEncode("You did not type in the verification info correctly.\n\n") End If If ErrorMessage <> "" Then Response.Redirect "register.asp?" & Request.Form & "&ErrorMessage=" & ErrorMessage Response.End End If
Your done. You just added a Capcha Security Image to your signup form. If you would like a more distorted image that is more difficult for an automated program to figure out change the image tag to call the "aspcaptcha_distort.asp" page instead. It will look more like this.
, Editing the look of the login page.
In this version editing the look of the login page is very easy. You can make this login page look exactly like you web site if you like.
You want to edit the "scripts/login_form_inc.asp" file.
It can be edited with any editor as long as the existing bits of server side code in it and the login form remain in tact.
The best thing to do is back it up before you start editing it. Then if you goof it up you can revert back to the original.
If you edit this page with FrontPage enable the "show all" feature. Its the little PIE sign in your icons. It will show the server side code as yellow things on the screen so you know where they are and can be careful not to delete them.

 cwilliams38448.8132638889, Hi Chris,
The hosting company has been doing some work apparently regarding the database connection issue. Still something is funky
When I type in www.vickerylightning.com/aspgallery/default.asp I get the custom 404 error page and I noticed that it is trying to open the following:
http://www.vickerylightning.com/skins/default/settings.asp
Is that what it is supposed to do?
Thanks! Rhona, the rookie
, All of the fields with the expected paths show the correct file structure, so now I've put them in them in the boxes , Am very interesting in purchasing ASPProtect, but am curious as to whether anyone has had success/failure with Network Solutions "standard windows hosting" solution? Thought I would ask just in case someone has had recent experience. thx, , If you re-start the web via IIS, reboot the server, or (possibly) just add and remove a category... that will clear up.
ASPClassifieds and ASPListings must be installed in seperate IIS applications if they are the same web. Otherwise the category caching system of each system will interfere with each other. They were never intended to be installed in the same web together since ASPListings is merely a stripped down version of ASPClassifieds and they share a lot of the same code. Like I said though if different IIS applications are set up in the web site you can do it because each IIS application will have it's own set of application and session variables. , MODS are NOT SUPPORTED.. questions about them will not be answered in the support forums. If you want to use a MOD you are considered an advanced user and will need to sort out any issues that may or may not come up.
MODS are used at your own risk and may or may not require certain basic coding skills. , sorry for the confusion. I completely forgot about that flag setup, and how different it is between the two databases., It's seems to work fine after renaming the file, rebuilding the application, and editing the web.config file to point to login.aspx. It looks like I can use your fine product and thanks again for the help. It was unusually easy. Merry Christmas… , What am i supposed to do now... i do have another member server that is not a domain controller-
However, i have like 5 websites running on this domain controller already. I have thought about this before how its a HUGE security risk but it will take too long to configure everything on the other computer :( , Things have now changed I found out godaddy has persitis aspUPload and aspjpeg as value added products, I have the aspjpeg working but have been unable to upload when using aspUPload, everything works fine with the vbscript method so I think my permissions are correct. Whenever you get a chance, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The application is only designed to have one kind of admin and that kind has full access to the admin area.
You can of course give any user access to stats for their banners via the bannerstats page.
That is how it works. There are no other levels of admin access.
, ok...
you got problems if you cant import a file created by the system..
You using SQL or MSACCESS and do any of the users data have apostraphes in it ? , Great Thank you!
As of thus far the program is working rather nicely.
I am very impressed :) , still.. its got to be somthing along those lines.. I have seen times when even dbo didnt have full rights to a particular database so permissions should always be manually checked..
The import data routine is most likely the source of the trouble
For troubleshooting sake I would create a fresh installation from scratch using the sql script we provide and a new SQL user. Then see if that works. If it does then try to import your data into that.
There are no other things I can think of doing. Sometimes you just have to start with a clean slate. , Thanks for the quick reply!
I was thinking it was an ASP config/install issue.
I usually deal with Linux/PHP, so this is all new to me :) , The Read-only attribute i was referring to is at the windows explorer level when looking at the folder properties under the general tab.
ASPNET and IUSR have full access to the _database folder as you suggested - Yet still I get the permission error noted above. , I have a need for more than the current number of custom fields currently available in the registration form. Is there a documented method of adding additional fields or am I not able to do so?
Thanks,
Dave , like I mentioned are you by chance running something like Norton Antivirus Script Blocking ?? That can cause timeouts and all sorts of problems with ASP as can other software like it. , Thanks.

, Well, you cant have a login box on the home page when using ASPProtect.NET.. there is no way to make that work. I tried all day to come up with something and it is not going to happen. I suggest you make a login button and link it directly to the protected page you want them to start on. The redirect or link them whereever from there. Either that or write your own forms based authentication solution that works exactly the way you want it to or edit the code accordingly since you have the source. It is not a feature we advertise for the product regardless. It works the way it works. ,
I have been using ASPBanner for a while and am very pleased with it. Congratulations on a good product.
Only one feature is missing that would really help me and this is being able to display banners dependent on some condition (/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?BannerZone=6&condition=xxx ).
I think this would be a good idea as it would allow users to present adverts based on different criteria; for example; specific country/region related ads, ads based on time of day, ads based on user preferences, etc.
To achieve this I was thinking of adding a field to the database so that I can enter a set of comma delimited conditions for which the banner can be displayed.
I have looked through some of the asp code with the intention of seeing how easy it would be to implement the functionality. Not knowing the code however, I think that modifying it myself would be risky as I may inadvertently change things, which would have a negative effect.
Would adding this type of functionality in ASPBanner be of interest to you. If not, can you let me have your opinion as to whether this would be relatively simple change for me to do myself or would it be too risky and I should give up the idea. Any guidance or feedback would be appreciated.
, To finalize this thread.. a target was added to the form by the customer by accident thus causing the situation, I used Dreamweaver4 to make my site is there anything I can do to make it work? , (Password_Email_Confirmation_Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This will change the basic registration pages so that the email address and password entered must be confirmed when signing up. This eliminates the auto generated password during signup.
Some may prefer it working this way.

Directions: Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
Copy the two new files into your "users" folder
"register.asp" "add_new_account.asp"

I had to open up the permissions to get it to work. I now have to go back and uncheck each one for directory listing.. :)
, Excellent
Thanks, the DESC addition did the trick!
- Jason , Your going to have a lot of problems and a lot of the code will have to be re-written.
There are a lot of things in the the code that the MYSQL database system does not support or has issues with . I know because I once made a version of ASPBanner work with MYSQL and it took weeks of work to get it stable.
Null field types can cause problems... but mostly ADO updates which I don't think MYSQL supports at all. All of the ADO stuff would have have to be rewritten.. etc etc
That's probably why you cant get much of the code to write to the database.
Here is a generic example.
An update to an existing record using ADO http://www.powerasp.com/content/database/ado_update.asp
And update to an existing record using an update query. http://www.powerasp.com/content/database/using_update.asp
All through the the code the ADO updates would have to converted to update queries which means a lot of work.
I used ADO a lot because I like it and it is little easier to validate data before it is written to the database.
It is also a little easier for customers to understand when they look at the code.
Anyway....
The app just was not designed to work with MYSQL. It was specifically designed to work with MSSQL and MSACCESS only.
This holds true for all of our applications.
Your running off an IIS 5 Server so I would suggest just using MSACCESS as the database. The Photo Gallery app will run very well using MSACCESS. , Yeah sorry you are right. It works for me
http://www.rottys.net/gallery/default.asp?CatLevel=2&Cat 1_ID=5
, Will purchasing an additional license resolve the issue which will allow another installation or is this a function of the application that it can only protect one site per server?, in the version you have changing it is not something we covered
I believe you will find it the "config_inc.asp" file in the root though... be careful with naming it though because if you use any spaces or weird characters it might cause issues with various functions in the application like emailing.. I recommend just using letter, numbers, and maybe dashes
, I getting a strange error with ASPProtect.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Unclosed quotation mark before the character string '¾_^Ö'.
/aspprotect/check_user_inc.asp, line 114
If I check the database directly "¾_^Ö" is the exact string for the password.
Any Ideas ,
