I just added this line to the paypal1.asp
page

and it worked. Clearly other values can be entered for other currencies.

, You do not run that page by itself. That is not how forms based authentication in .NET works. That is a special page used by the web.config file. It is automatically used when you protect one of your existing .NET pages but is not meant to run on it’s own thus the error.
To answer your other question a user is not sent anywhere. You protect existing ASP.NET pages as shown in the documentation and the examples. If sent to any protected page they are either prompted with a login box or if logged in they see the page as usual. If they log in the form posts to itself and they end up at the same page after supplying proper login credentials. That is how ASP.NET forms based authentication works. I suggest you get a good book on ASP.NET that explains all of that if you are still confused.
Now, if you really want some sort of page to redirect them somewhere after login make a basic asp.net page.. protect it.. and then use a redirect statement. ,

Ok, well... you have a lot of stuff going on there.
More importantly than that.. you cant even log into the admin area using the admin account. There is something majorly wrong with the installation.
I also notice you havent even saved any path settings in the settings page of the admin area. I am looking that over now and filling in the missing info. That information needs to be populated. , 
ASPProtect v7.x runs on Microsoft IIS servers only.
That means Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 server and Windows 2003 server. The web server must have ASP support enabled and support Data Connections. 99% of them do as it's a pretty normal thing, but you should ask and make sure your hosting plan supports it.
ASPProtect can use a Microsoft Access Database or Microsoft SQL Server as it's data source. We provide the access databases and everything you need to create the SQL database, however customer's using Microsoft SQL Server are required to have SQL Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer in order to setup and maintain the SQL database. Other scenarios are possible but we do not support them.
ASPProtect v7.supports 13 different emailing methods and components so chances are you will have no problem finding one that will work for you.

FINALLY
ASPProtect v7.x does not run under Chillisoft ASP. That means it does not run under Unix, Linux, Apache, etc etc. ASPProtect v7.x can not use a MySQL database. MySQL and Microsoft SQL are not the same thing.

Be warned however it will not always be accurate because some people cloak that information or show something different than what they are running to trick potential hackers. With commerical hosting though the the header information is usually accurate. , I am running into problems with the import function. I have 25 photos loaded into the import folder. We are now about ready to switch this development site over to production and I need to change the domain from cidrasensors.com to cidra.com
My hosting company wants us to create a new accounting and re-set everyting up.
So...based on this, I have a few questions for you:
1. Do I need to re-install the software? or can I copy from one account to the other?
2. Assuming I can copy the software to the new account - are there changes that will need to be made to point to the new domain?
3. If I decide I wanted to keep the first account alive for development purposes (never turn on the website domain to the public) - would I need to have a seperate ASP Protect license?
4. If I decided to ask you to do the transfer for us - is that covered in the $20 Installation fee I saw on the web?
, Its one of the drwbacks of the encyrption.. sometimes.. VERY RARELY it will produce things that cause a problem and will not work.
It is something I am doing more research on .., When I go to set up a new user, my user name and password are already in the window. And I am un-sure why. I start a new browser, and again that my same user name and password is in that window., does emailing work at the simplest level.. ??
meaning does a user get an email when you send an email from the admin users screen ?
if emails are not sending it could very well be the setting you have chosen for emails in the settings.
the best thing to do is keep trying to send an email there and try different emails settings until you get something that works... even when I do installs for people I often have to try a lot of various things before I get emails to send.. like picking different components and trying different things for the email server address because what they tell me is often wrong
also, sometimes emails get sent but depending on where they go they may get deleted as spam.. aol, hotmail, msn, and yahoo are famous for that , ya, thats basically what I was gonna do..
BTW.. if that other app is going crazy with an access database it could be the cause of all the slowdown with ASPProtect... what happens there is it is using so much database driver time that it robs other things that also access a database... so basically ASPProtect isn't asking its database for much but your other application and database are cripping that part of the system and causing it to run like crapola
If your other app is using a system dsn try changing it to use a dsn-less connection... it might actually help , This is a great article for newbies..

if you install it in the same directory structure you wont have to make any changes to the pages in your site you have already protected.. because the code to protect a page will be the same
now, anytime you upgrade an application like this there is going to be a lot of work involved especially when there have been so many changes

Like I said you can make version 6 work with CDOSYS and a remote email server. You just need to do some research on CDOSYS code and spend the time needed to make the code use it. I however am not going to spend time detailing all of that when I created a new version that does it.

I believe that perhaps I gave Chris good cause for this post to be created . But dont fear .
When it comes to most languages I am a newbie, let alone ASP.NET. I did not choose to have an application for my site to be built in ASP.NET. However it was and I had paid for that program and it needed protecting!
Now I did have a few problems, however NONE were with ASPProtect.NET. It is brilliant. NONE were with Chris and the support he provides. I believe he must work 24/7 judging by the speed of replies and the timezone differences.
In the end all the problems were down to MY typos and a web host who insisted that any problem was a conflict and not their server set-up.(which it was!)
Having eliminated the typo and changed web provider to a less arrogant company. ASPProtect.NET installed and ran out of the box. Truely impressive.
As a newbie it is not something I would like to do again. But with help from Chris and from a friend with ASP.NET knowledge any issues were very quickly resolved.

I was successful at performing an upload. The free upload software was either not configure properly (probably) or not working. I downloaded the trial version of softartisan's upload (which is like over $300) and it started working.
Can more than one photo be uploaded at one time (like a whole folder full of photos) or does each have to be done individually? , thanks... a review at aspin is always appretiated ...no one ever seems to do a review and they help me out a lot.. the aspprotect admin area header has a link

The only possible way I can think of that could cause that is if you changed things around too much and the config_inc.asp file is getting run/included twice on that page your logging in to.

After turing off the delayed stats feature the internal errors have stopped and it still serves banners, although I havent checked the logs yet. I will and post any errors.
I left my test page up last night at say 11pm serving 4 banners of different sizes rotating every 15 seconds, now at 9am the page is just displaying 1. If I refresh the page they all reappear.

The articles you references were read over by me like 3 hours ago... way passed that and prob. in deeper sh*t than i was since im trying everything possible without knowing the true reason this is not working. , so use the connection string the readme.txt in the sql installation folder file tells you to... it has the correct username.. I just posted that info above

or go into sql and give any user you want access to the database and use them
Any connection strings that come in the datacon_inc.asp file the way it ships are examples. We fully expect people to edit them.
Also.. the SQL scripts primarly goal is give you a properly set up database with correct files and table settings. Users and permissions often need a little extra attention from the installer as that part doesn't always get set right by the scripts It really all depends on what sql user you are when you execute the scripts. Many times the user someone logs in with doesn't have permission to make users and set permissions.

put the site live. I have a question in how the paypal
subscription works.
1. What is telling paypal to return the info to the ipn.asp page for
processing? Is that something I have to set up in my paypal
account?
2. I'd like to use Paypal's
auto return. I assume the return page would be ipn.asp?
Would I just need to add a redirect to the login page at the end
of the appropriate txn_type if/then statement?

The settings I am referring to being the various emailing settings on the settings screen, The settings you showed me.
As for emailing via a remote server over dsl. It may not be working because the ISP's block the port (25) to stop people from running email servers over their dsl.
Your POP3 works because POP3 uses port 110.
If you want to send emails from your local server on your dsl you should probably install the SMTP service of IIS if you have not and send emails using that with CDOSYS. Either that or get a commerical DSL account with a static IP that allows for running email servers. , you basically have to edit the html in the links in the various pages and remove them... some are in includes files
use a text editor and be causious / back things up before you remove links so you can revert back , CDOSYS is the way to go usually...

As for eliminating the registration its pretty much like what you said.. manually remove the links and what not... etc etc and dont send users to the registration pages..
If you dont want people to be able to edit their info ever... or retrieve lost passwords.. you can delete the users folder completely..
though it's probably better to leave some of that stuff and just disable the registration links and page...

It is better/faster and also a lot easier to set up. , Now that I think about you may very well be able to use the existing login_form_inc.asp page
the header and footer files for the users area may be ok as well.
probably the smart thing to do is try your old ones and compare them to the new and see if everything you need is there. If not add it by looking at the source html and comparing.
All other files should definetly be replaced with the new. , (User Photo Upload Mod) for ASPProtect Version 7.x
This will allow an individual user to upload a user picture instead of just the admin.
Notes: This is a down and dirty mod. The user upload code was copied from the admin area and there are no safeguards. Meaning there is no limit on the file size a user uploads and there is no confirmation process in case something they upload is inappropriate. etc etc etc
If you want that you will have to work on that on your own.

Back up your existing ASPProtect installation.
