Here are three known bugs and their fixes...
If you have any of these symptoms these fixes will most likely take care of them.
If you don't have a symptom do not make any changes as you most likely have an updated copy of the application.
Technically if you bought that app on or after April 27th 2004 these bugs should all have been corrected.
Description Fix
(no descriptions showing in pop up window)
Edit pic_window.asp with a text editor
Change
Set f=fs.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("pictures/Album_ID_" & Album_ID & ".txt"), 1)
To
Set f=fs.OpenTextFile(Server.MapPath("../pictures/Album_ID_" & Album_ID & ".txt"), 1)
Slideshow Fix…
(last image in slideshow it not showing)
In slideshow.asp
Change
<% For PicArrayIndex = 0 To Ubound(PicArray) - 1 %>
To
<% For PicArrayIndex = 0 To Ubound(PicArray) %>
Add To Favorites fix
(add to favorites feature doesn’t work at all)
Edit "album_uppermenu_inc.asp" in the scripts folder
Change
<a href="users/favorite_albums.asp?Album_ID=<% =Album_ID %>"><img border="0" src="<% =application("skinpath") %>add_to_favorites.gif"></a>
To
<a href="users/favorite_albums.asp?Album_ID=<% =Album_ID %>&Action=Add_To_Favorites"><img border="0" src="<% =application("skinpath") %>add_to_favorites.gif"></a>

Thanks Christopher!
,
Ok, so I checked to see if ASP is running on the server and it is. then I added code to the top of a page and this is what i can see when 'view Source' on the web browser:
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!-- Begin ASPProtect Code -->
<!-- Groups with access to this page. ( * Admins * ) -->
<% GROUPACCESS = "4" %>
<! #INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp">
<!-- End ASPProtect Code -->
<html>
<head>
<title>TeamManagers</title>
Yet I get no challenage for a password and no error message!
, Redirecting is not something ASPProtect does because you can
do that sort of thing using simple ASP redirects.
In all of these examples you are going to want to protect the pages you send these users to accordingly.
So that if they know the url they just cant go their directly without loging in.
Redirecting example..
This page will redirect admins or level 4 users to a certain page and anyone else to
another page.
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<%
If Session("Admin") = "True" or Session("Access_Level") = "4" Then
Response.Redirect("sompage.asp")
Else
Response.Redirect("someotherpage.asp")
End If
%>
Redirecting example..
This page will redirect level 1 users to a certain page. level 2 users to certain page, and anyone else to
another page.
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<%
If Session("Access_Level") = "1" Then
Response.Redirect("level1.asp")
ElseIf Session("Access_Level") = "2" Then
Response.Redirect("level2.asp")
Else
Response.Redirect("allothers.asp")
End If
%>
Redirecting example..
This page will redirect user "PistolPete" to a certain page.
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<%
If Session("Username") = "PistolPete" Then
Response.Redirect("somedirectory/somepage.asp")
End If
%>
then just make sure the page you send the user to to also checks to see if the user is the right user.... to make sure others users can't access each others pages
<%
If Session("Username") <> "PistolPete" Then
Response.Write("You do not have access to this page.")
Response.End
End If
%>
etc etc etc.... these code snippets should point you in the right direction...
, no, that system only works with ASP.NET code.
Currently it can not possibly work with classic asp.
PayPal made it a nightmare to use and work with.
Special things regarding the signing of digital certificates also need to be installed on the web server so if it isn't your server your also out of luck.
, Are you reffering to the number of the left of the users name in admin.
I thought it was a counter at first but that number only displays the number of albums they have set up.
, OMFG, Good Morning, any suggestions on how to best "fake out the system" -- I would like to try to keep this clean so I can see the real errors?
My thought was to try to just move those .gif files to the directory that it thinks it should be in -- do you have any better suggestions? Or reasons why I really wouldnt want to do that?
, so use the connection string the readme.txt in the sql installation folder file tells you to... it has the correct username.. I just posted that info above
or change the username in the connection string so its rigfht
or go into sql and give any user you want access to the database and use them
Any connection strings that come in the datacon_inc.asp file the way it ships are examples. We fully expect people to edit them.
Also.. the SQL scripts primarly goal is give you a properly set up database with correct files and table settings. Users and permissions often need a little extra attention from the installer as that part doesn't always get set right by the scripts It really all depends on what sql user you are when you execute the scripts. Many times the user someone logs in with doesn't have permission to make users and set permissions.
cwilliams38325.9116898148, I purchased the ASPGallery Pro last week and still cannot get it running. When I enter www.vickerylightning.com/aspgallery/dataconn_inc.asp on the screen it says "Not a valid bookmark"
Below is the connection string. My hosting company uses server map paths:
'Create database connection
'Create a connection odject
Set adoCon = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
'Database connection info and driver
'strCon = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("aspgallery_access2002.mdb")
'Alternative drivers faster than the generic access one above
'strCon = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.3.51; Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("aspgallery_access97.mdb") 'This one is if you use Access 97
'strCon = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("aspgallery_access2000.mdb") 'This one is for Access 2000/2002
GalleryConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Jet OLEDB:Database Password=temp; Data Source=\\NAWINFS04\home\users\web\b2623\rh.vickery2004\aspga llery\aspgallery_access2002.mdb; "
GalleryDatabaseType = "MSACCESS"
adoCon.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="&Server.MapPath ("\aspgallery\aspgallery_access2002.mdb") & ";"
Definitely need some assistance!

, You kid around again regarding illegal downloads and not only will you be banned from the forums, your support will be cut off completely.
, Thank you.... yes it does
Is there a limit in the number of Zones you can have in the database.
thanking you
, I have tried everything to get your CJWSoft code working..I purchased the auto listings software and I am stumped, and actually you stumped my hosting provider, my database is stored in the database directory on the root.
I have even tried your ASPtest and still cannot connect. My have connected other databases without an issue on this same host, I have named a DNS Auto for my database and ponted to that in my code but get the following error you see at http://www.burkesauto.com and even when i try you test script found here at http://www.burkesauto.com/asptest.asp .
cwilliams38145.8522800926,
I just added this line to the paypal1.asp
page
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code"
value="CAD">
and it worked. Clearly other values can be entered for other currencies.
Everything was listed in this manual https://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/subscriptions.pdf.
Cheers
Roy
, IT worked just as cwilliams said. I did see the IP address being stored in the table but it didn't dawn on me that it was tied in to the view count, I tried it from a different IP address and it worked great .
Good coding Christopher
Thanks
John
, Hello Chris:
Yes I'm using the Option Pack.

, Banners no longer show up on my site ?
If banners were working fine and now they are just not showing up.
1st check to see that you are calling a valid zone with live banners in it.
If you are then most likely this it what hapened.
The web server must have crashed or lost power and now the application variables are in limbo/not working.
I have seen this happen a few times.
Basically the application variable system gets messed up because it was not shut down properlly.
The way to cure it are as follows.
Edit and save a banner in the system. Hopefully that gets things going again.
, Adding Support For ServerObjects ASPMail
ASPProtect as you know does not support ServerObjects ASPMail component by default.
Here are directions to make it work.
In the ASPProtect admin settings area simply pretend as if you are using the softartisans sasmtp mailer component. ASPMail and that sasmtp component share the same properties… and the code used for them is nearly identical.
So search through the code for any place where email is sent and simply change
Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SoftArtisans.SMTPMail")
To
Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
It is about 4 places. They are not too hard to find.
That’s the easy way to get all the emailing functions working with ASPMail
cwilliams38419.7864351852, If a picture does not show after uploading it is one of the following things.
The upload method chosen is not supported on the server
or
The physical path specified to the pictures folder is not correct.
or
The URL to the Pictures folder is not correct.
or
Permissions to the pictures folder have not been set properly
Here is more information on how permissions are set.
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo136-1.htm
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo56-1.htm
Without more information and the settings you have entered and chosen that is all I can offer for now.
, Thank you so so much! I went to the admin area and changed the email component from CDOSYS (using remote server) to CDOSYS (using port 25 forwarding) and all is working great now!
Again, thanks!
, Hi,
I am investigating the possibility of purchasing above script having spent some hours trying to integrate various free banner rotators into my Invision portal.
What attracts me to your script is that it has 6 ways to call banners. I am an inexperienced webmaster with only a smatterring of knowledge about ASP. Will ASP Banner be able to integrate with my portal?
Many thanks

, Haven't gotten to it yet. I do know there are a few customers using it to edit the app and said it was not all that different. Maybe they will chime in with some tips., I use the group feature and would like to know if it is possible to change or delete members from a group in bulk. For example if I have 200 users registered for group 1 and 3 how could I delete all members from group 3 in one pass rather than editing 200 individual members?, Totally 100% depends on what you are doing.. you certainly can't be renaming any fields unless you plan on editing a lot of code that references them. Adding new fields is nothing to worry about.
Also, you really should post a question like this under the forum section for the application you are referring to as well as specify exactly what changes you are talking about. For example I don't even know what application you are referring to.
I sell about 8 applications., I really do not know to tell you the truth. I'll do some research.
The script only allows .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif extensions.
If someone uploads a file called... "filename.vbs.jpeg" with bad vbscript in it I seriously doubt anything can happen because of it because of the extension.
But I really do not know.
It has never happened to any sites I have or know of.
cwilliams38447.0491435185, Hi,
We use ASP Protect to password protect the pages in the member area ( http://www.pti.org/members.asp )
Of late Once or twice every month our whole site goes down and it gives us a "Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800a006 Overflow: Clnt //global.asa line 33 " error message (with the friendly message turned off). When we reboot the web server things are up as normal.
But this is happening too frequently and creates a bad impression.
Any suggestions on how we could prevent this would be greatly appreciated.
, You can't unless you plan on editiing and custimizing the code.
The application is only designed to have one kind of admin and that kind has full access to the admin area.
You can of course give any user access to stats for their banners via the bannerstats page.
That is how it works. There are no other levels of admin access.
, here is a thread that may help you if this is what you were getting at
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo389-1.htm
, This is what "John Evans" of CJWSoft has to say on the matter...
"I think that’s pretty much impossible. If the server sees a .JPG or .JPEG extension why in the world would it go and try to read it or do anything with it.
I believe there may have been some issues with Outlook and Outlook express that made it look like a vbs script sent as an attachment was actually a JPG because someone found an exploit in those programs and it would appear as if double extension files were one thing when in fact they were not.
Having a real time virus scanner on the server (which any good host will) should also catch anything infected being built on the server drives as the file uploads. Always worked for me and I had a lot of people uploading ZIP files on winxptheme.com at one point. Many had viruses in them although I suspect it was totally innocent on the end users part. Some people didn’t even know they had a virus on their rig.
Fact is anything is possible but I think chances of getting a virus or being hacked in some way from this sort of upload are really slim."
cwilliams38447.0602083333, If things are not perfect there will be no log files and no errors.. it can only be one of these things really
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo313-2.htm
You may also want to make your the filesystem on the server is working and not disabled by norton script blocking or anything random like that. Testing the filesystem object is best done by writing a simple text file to a folder. Plenty of examples of doing that can be found at www.aspin.com
Recent activity is temporary and admin activity in the admin area is not tracked. If your application in IIS has reset or there has been no activity in the users area or in pages you protected there will be nothing there. The busier your site the more chance something will be there. For example usually our online demo has something there except right after 4am when my server does an iisreset.
, That helped very much. Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your dinner., Oh snap. Tried the blank database and got the same errors. Fixed THE
FILE PATHS to conform to the AspProtect 7 setup, and it worked like a
champ. I still need to copy and paste the info, but it's working just
fine with the ones I add manually.
Moral of the story: FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER.
, The default database password is "temp"
This is noted in the docs. You can also see the current password by looking at your connection string.
cwilliams38176.7913888889, I getting a strange error with ASPProtect.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Unclosed quotation mark before the character string '¾_^Ö'.
/aspprotect/check_user_inc.asp, line 114
If I check the database directly "¾_^Ö" is the exact string for the password.
Any Ideas
,
I am not entirely sure how one configures
the system to assign a user to a specific group. For example, let say I
have created two groups A and B, and I have pages protected by the code
generated in the admin area for groups A and B. I know I can assign access
to these groups in the admin area.
However, it is not clear to me how I do it automatically
through the registration process.

These Settings:
Picture upload feature settings. |
Use_Picture_Upload |
< = value=True name=Use_Picture_Upload> Check this if you will be using the picture uploading feature. |
UploadDirectory |
< size=60 value=C:\Inetpub\virtuals\aspphotogallery.com\Web\demo\pictu res name=UploadDirectory> Example: "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ASPPhotoGallery\pictures" Ask your server admin if you are not sure. This directory needs proper permissions for the SAFILEUP component or the VBSCRIPT solution to work correctly. It basically needs to same permissions as the database directory would need when using Microsoft Access. |
PictureURL |
< size=60 value=http://www.aspphotogallery.com/demo/pictures name=PictureURL> Example: "http://p600laptop/ASPPhotoGallery/pictures" This is the web URL of the the upload directory specified above. |
Use_SAFILEUP_Upload |
< = value=SAUP name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a component called SAFILEUP which is high end upload component available from www.softartisans.com. It is far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution.It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_ASPUPLOAD_Upload |
< = value=ASPUPLOAD name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a component called ASPUPLOAD which is high end upload component available from www.persits.com. It is also far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution.It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_DUNDAS_Upload |
< = value=DUNDAS name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a (FREE) component called DUNDAS UPLOAD which is a high end upload component available from www.dundas.com. It is also far superior in performance and reliability compared to the VBSCRIPT file upload solution.It is highly recommended for a busy site. If you enable this component and do not have it installed on your web server you will cause an error. |
Use_VBSCRIPT_Upload |
< = value= name=Upload_Solution> This option will enable file uploads using a pure VBSCRIPT solution. It requires VBSCRIPT version 5 or higher to be installed on the server. The solution usually works fine, but has been reported to cause memory leaks on XP machines. |
, Hi, I have not gotten anything from you about it.
click on the PM button below and send it that way through the forums.
Thanks
, ok... lets forget about all this redirecting business for a minute
when I go to "GP01.asp" directly via your web site I get a big nasty error that says this
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/protect/config_inc.asp, line 15
Dim Address_Required,CDONTS_Installed,City_Required,Registration _Type,VerifyURL,Log_Off_Page
----^
then when I look at what you did in that file I see why
you have this code which is totally wrong because you cannot include the password protection file twice
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<% GROUPACCESS = "*1*" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
Yeah that's my impression too. I've done a lot of searching before posting this problem, but haven't solved it. Maybe it has to do with the sql-server/hotel?
Though I have compared carefully what goes on (and it should all be good) it could still be the problem? I have now made it work on a local msde sql server too..
