ok
thanks

, Do what it says so you can see the real error and then post that information here. It could be anything from incorrect permissions to whatever.cwilliams38454.4272916667,
This is great documentaion for windows script 5.6
in windows chm file format for jscript and vbscript.
We use server side vbscript in all our our ASP 3.0 applications so this info can be a lot of help.
2005-02-18_150921_vbscript_docs.zip
cwilliams38401.6321990741, recently i've been getting a lot of unspecified errors. i've been running aspbanner for about a year and a half now. i don't know what would have caused all these problems. also, for some reason it won't maintain my log-in, ever time i got from page to page or try to submit a form it asks me log-in again.
Jason S.
cwilliams38389.8791550926, Makes sense to me. I used the ASPProtect_access2002.mdb supplied.
(I am using 2003). Only added more names and other personal info
to it for test. Uploaded the amended db with FTP. This did not
restrict someone not listed in db from logging in.
Would each individuals' information need to be added to the code in
order to have it check the database first to find out if the person is
authorized to view?
Part of the problem is I dont know which ASP page or script links the
db to the rest of the web, or how one page relates or links to the
other.
Sometimes I wonder if problems I encounter originate with the server.
Thanks for patience.
, Actually it is my own server (retired email server from my employer). I will check out the documentation again. I DID read that part, but didn't understand it enough. I'll dig deeper. Also my box has 2 CPU's, hence the $125 for ASPImage..., You do not say something like that in a support forum for a legitimate software product. I don't think piracy is funny in the least bit. It is something I deal with every day with my own software. If you want to joke about it please do it someplace else. If you are downloading things via p2p do not talk about here. I don't want to know about it period., Very weird for sure but I guarantee no code in ASPProtect is deleting that folder. Something else is going on the server and deleting it and I have no idea what it would be.
Maybe try leaving a blank text file in it and see if the folder disappears after a few days., that's they way it should be done..
the only other thing would have been to test everything with sql before trying to import any data.. and make sure all was fine at that stage
more info on the errors would be helpful.
Id' also carefully visually compare the SQL tables and fields with the SQL scripts and make sure all field types and settings got set correctly.
Also, make sure the user accessign the database has datareader and datawriter permissions of course.
, Well at least now the import/export link shows up now! lol, You can't unless you plan on editiing and custimizing the code.
The application is only designed to have one kind of admin and that kind has full access to the admin area.
You can of course give any user access to stats for their banners via the bannerstats page.
That is how it works. There are no other levels of admin access.
, I have narrowed it down. The ../ for includes will not work with .asp files but will work in .shtml files.
any ideas?
, Hey, I thought I'd share this tip with the ASPProtect community...
If you'd like to remove, modify, or add fields to the "Users" view in
the password_admin default.asp page, it's really easy to do. Well, at
least it was for me. I'm using an MS Access database, by the way.
For me, I don't need "Company" info, but I do need last access and # of
times accessed displayed. Therefore, I had to change the default page
in three areas:
In /password_admin/default.asp, go to about line 185 or so, where you see stuff like:
<td valign="bottom"><font face="Arial" color="#000000"
size
="2"><b>First Name& lt;/b> </font></td>
OK, those are the column headings. Each one corresponds to a column
from your USERS table in your database. There are two more areas to
consider, both of which appear immediately after this section.
The next section has statements that look like this:
<td valign="bottom"><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+ASC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_ascending.gif" Alt="Sort
Ascending"></a><a href="<% =THISPAGE
%>?SORTBY=First_Name+DESC&MyPageSize=<% =MyPageSize
%>&Keyword=<% =Server.URLEncode(Keyword)%>"><img
border="0" src="../images/sort_descending.gif" Alt="Sort
Descending"></a></td>
See the "First_Name" items? The first is for an ascending sort, the
second for a descending. This particular line corresponds to the code
snippet immediately above it. But all this does is handle the sorting.
For the actual data, look lower for this stuff:
<td bgcolor="<% = Cellbgcolor
%>"><font face="Arial" size="1"> <%=
CmdListUsers("First_Name")
%& gt; </font></td>
It's a good ways down, so don't be impatient if you don't see it in 10
lines from the end of the last mentioned section. This stuff handles
the display of the data from the database (where else ya gonna get
data, anyway?)...
Now, to remove a field, you need to find the three sets that go with
that data. The ascending/descending sort is potentially the trickiest,
because it's the longest set of data and can take a number of lines.
Just clear it from the start td to the end /td and you'll be fine.
To *add* a field, copy and paste the code from an existing field and
modify it. In the first one, the column title, you can type whatever
you want to describe your info. Nobody but you and your admins will see
it. For the next two sections, though, you need to get the correct
column heading from the USERS table and use that to correct the lines
in the copied code you pasted in.
For example, when I added a column to show the number of times a user
logged in, I copied the above snippets and pasted them in where I felt
the column I needed should be. Then, in the first one, I changed "First
Name" to "Logins". In the ascending/descending snippet, I changed
First_Name to Counter. Same for the last snippet.
The result? A new column, showing the number of logins my users were successful with.
Of course, before you experiment, back up your existing default.asp file, JUST IN CASE.
Have fun!
, I uploaded the files designed for an aspprotect folder at the root of my site (mysite.com/aspprotect) and went to mysite.com/password_admin/get_me_in.asp and receive this error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0xf54 Thread 0x908 DBC 0x90c41dc Jet'.
/aspprotect/scripts/populate_config_variables_inc.asp, line 11
I am assuming my host has still not set rights properly and that is why I receive this error. Am I correct?
I will definitely recommend hosting company you suggested for our businees site.
, I am confused.
Humm, how did ASPBanner 8 come with your purchase of ASPProtect ? That is not something I am aware of or something I do. Please provide more information on how you obtained ASPBanner 8. If I gave yu a copy for some reason please refresh my memory so I can go look up th emails about it. I need to know you have a valid license.
Now, as for the two not working together and the login screens messing with each other. I am even more confused. Tell me more as I just do not understand what you did ? ASPBanner has it's own user database and login system so there is no reason you should be mixing the two together as far as logins go. The two applications can certainly be in the same web together and not bother each other. ASPBanner can certainly serve banners to any pages you protect with ASPProtect or don't protect, but you certainly should not be protecting any ASPBanner code with ASPProtect code. ASPBanner already has code in it to do that. If that is the case don't do that. ASPProtect is not meant to protect code that already has a login system. That should just be obvious as far as I am concerned and hopefully you dintn't try to do that.
(you said you just put the directory in there but there must be more too this than that)
But again, tell me more. I can't really know everything ??
I just dont see how your ASPProtect pages could be effected by ASPBanner unless you really did something wacky like included the ASPBanner "check_user_inc.asp" instead of the one that comes with ASPProtect or overwrote it... etc ect
If in the same web aspprotect can be wherever and aspbanner needs to be in a folder called "aspbanner". There should be no conflicts under normal use and the two will essentially run seperate of one another.
, Its not on their end. Using ASP alone you really won't be able to send more than around 300-400 individuals emails at a time before things will time out. Its just that ASP is not an efficient way of sending email and it never will be.
You really should look into worldcast like I mentioned before.
http://www.fairlogic.com/worldcast/
Then just export the email list from the database into worldcast and send out the newsletters.
You will get much better results and perfect newsletters and it really only takes a little bit longer to do each time once you figure it out. That is how I send out my PowerASP and CJWSoft newsletters and it works perfectly every time.
, Sounds cool.. post info when you get it sorted out
thx
hopefully someday I'll get the new version finished.. I just never seem to have time. Lately ASPProtect takes up all my time and now aspclassifieds seems to be in need of a new version more so than asp photo gallery
, no, but in the standard version it probably will not run so great with more than 75 or so.
The unlimited version can handle pretty much whatever., I used Dreamweaver4 to make my site is there anything I can do to make it work?
, I have activated both activity and log files. The directories exist on my server and don't give any errors.
When I check the activity tab, some times there are a number of items in it. Other times, there is only my login info. From what I can see, it is supposed to show the last 50 items of activity at all times. Am I missing something?
Also, when I click on the log file tab, there is no file or information to see. Is there something I need to do beyond activating it in the settings area and making sure the directory has write permissions?
Thanks.
, rrabago
I have been looking over the code and also doing some tests.
So far everything in the code looks correct and everything I have tried has worked correctly. If I select an access level and active users it is not sending emails to inactive users as you stated.
Are you using the option pack ?
cwilliams38103.9618402778, Still not having much success. I am using SQL server. I changed the permission in the following directory :sql server data\mssql\data. Is that the database directory you are referring to?, No can do. In both cases there is an icon that says "Not uploaded". I click in it and nothing happens. There is no link to upload. Am I missing something?
By the way, I appreciate and am impressed with your rapid response. Thanks.
, This is great FREE SQL Server Web Data Administrator App from Microsoft..
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C03 9A798-C57A-419E-ACBC-2A332CB7F959&displaylang=en
It is an ASP.NET web application that you install locally on your development server and then use to connect to a SQL database whether remote or local.
It can do nearly everything enterprise manager can do.
I have tested it and it works great for me.
cwilliams38325.7453587963, You are NEVER supposed to move any files, especially that one. Of course that is going to break a lot of things.
Please put it back the way it was.
You change the path of the include file when you call it, never the location of the include file., ok, thats actually just the xml parser component barfing out on you.. it can't handle the load of being called so much on that server
you might want to try some of the other methods of calling banners, I've encountered another problem. When i edit the link for existing banners and save it, the banner reverts to the old link instead of the new one.
The directory where the the database is located to rwed so the permissions is not a problem.
Any advice?
Thanks
, I would say that it isn't all that difficult using mySQL for the backend....the main thing is to make sure you set the primary keys for auto-incrementing in your database. Alos need to make sure that any DELETE SQL statements are formatted like this
DELETE FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
and not
DELETE * FROM tblName WHERE tblField=SomeValue
The same holds true for using MSSQL
, How can i get to this to register someone in the database only after the Paypal payment has been accepted. I was testing it out to see if it makes it to my Paypal account (which it did just fine) then I closed Paypal before paying. I logged in as the administrator and looked at the member list and the account was created anyway. How can I stop this from being created until "only" after the Paypal payment has been "approved"?
What if this person never comes back to "try again"? Now the username he used (and is inactive) is not available for anyone else to use. And it takes up database space.
I am using the Paypal (non-subscription)
Thanks in advance,
scottyFlasher
, did you read what this thread says about that session variable for groups not be created by default
you have to add code so it sgets created before you can check it... this thread talks about that, Is there a way to upload photos to individual user directories? I don't want all the picture files in a single directory.
Thanks,
Steve
, Is there a way to protect other virtual sites on the server that are not under the default web site considering people may have different websites running off one server? I get the following error:
Parser Error Message: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

, Our webhost changed converted all sites from c: to d:, and without us doing anything else, our customers now get the following error message when trying to access our Classifieds site:
***********
Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Not a valid password.
This means there is most likely a problem with the "ConnectionString" info that you specified.
If you are using a DSN-Less Connection with MSACCESS.
Check that the physical path to the database has been specified correctly.
It has to be perfect and correct. It cannot be specified using "http://" or by using "server.mappath".
It has to be specified like the following example.
ConnectionString = "DBQ=D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\advpass_pro\_database\passwords.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};UID=admin;PASSWORD=Xpass"
If this is running on an NT server or Win2000 Server make sure that permissions have been set on the database.
Only the server admins can do this. If you are not the admin you will have to ask for this to be done.
If you are using a System DSN
It is not set up correctly. Again, make sure the permissions have been set for the database and that the system DSN has been set up correctly by the server admins.
************************************************************ *********************
We did everything the web host asked us to do, that is, changed all references to the C drive to new references to the D drive, but the error is still there. We also never changed any passwords (as far as we can remember). Can someone please tell us where to look (also which file might tell us what the correct password is in case it has in fact been changed.
Scaramouche38306.4845833333, well, like I said.. I am leaving in about 5 minutes for the wedding.
If you put this up on a live server that I can connect to I will look at it tommoro for you. I have told you everything I could possibly tell you so I dont think your going to figure it out based on the things you have told me so far.
Only other thing I can think of is make sure your not running anything goofy on that server 2003 box. Norton Antivirus script blocking... various ad blockers.. anti spyware applications... etc etc... They can cause problems as well. , no the "expected path" is something that gets generated for you if you have parent paths enabled. to help you fill things in correctly...
basically if parent paths are enabled it shows you what the path should be for each path field on the settings page... if parent paths are disabled there will be nothing to the right of expected path for technical reasons (lack of being able to do a "../../" to figure out the paths more or less)
in that case there is a file called "expected_paths" in the data folder that you can run to tell you the expected path info
, Sounds to me like you got some bad databases or something. Or your trying to open a database with too old of a version of msaccess.. not sure
Everything is stored in one database. And yes there is more than just the users table.
Also, removing the "temp" password should be a piece of cake.
Email me for a new copy of the download file ? Use the contact from on the cjwsoft site. Please tell me your order details as well so I know who you are.

, Well, thats not normal.
(it should work just like our online demo does)
Do you have everything turned on in the settings ?
Uploading needs to be enabled and you also have to pick a valid upload method.
, The main users screen... the 1st screen you see when you go to the admin area.. where you email an individual user..
The settings I am referring to being the various emailing settings on the settings screen, The settings you showed me.
As for emailing via a remote server over dsl. It may not be working because the ISP's block the port (25) to stop people from running email servers over their dsl.
Your POP3 works because POP3 uses port 110.
If you want to send emails from your local server on your dsl you should probably install the SMTP service of IIS if you have not and send emails using that with CDOSYS. Either that or get a commerical DSL account with a static IP that allows for running email servers.
