Hello,
While there is no option in the admin area / asp code we give you here is what I can tell you.
You have the source code and we also use an open database structure. (MSAccess or MSSQL) So that means you can really run any query you want on the database whether with ASP code or directly in your database. You can even tie other systems and code into the database via OBDC and manipulate data. The sky is the limit.
In MSSQL you can run queries in SQL enterprise manager or query analyzer. Using Access you can run queries in query view.
It's really not that hard if you do some research on SQL Statements and how to use them. You can do some very powerful queries and save yourself a lot of time. , humm, those are some very big images to be starting off with but I am not sure that would cause a problem under the importing scenario
what width are you having the system resize them to ?
What happens when you upload a image manually (one a t a time)
Also, try the import process out with some pictures no bigger than say 1024 and lets see what happens ,
If a picture does not show after uploading it is one of the following things.
The upload method chosen is not supported on the server or The physical path specified to the pictures folder is not correct. or The URL to the Pictures folder is not correct. or Permissions to the pictures folder have not been set properly
Here is more information on how permissions are set.

Without more information and the settings you have entered and chosen that is all I can offer for now. , I used Dreamweaver4 to make my site is there anything I can do to make it work? , its part of how the skins load.. regardless you got bigger problems here..
I am beginning to wonder if you unzipped the download correctly because I see things in folders they should not be in...
you should have ended up with a bunch of folders and files...
It you just ended up with a ton of files in one directory you did not unzip the zip file correctly... if so check your zip program settings.. I mean that error is because it is looking for a file in the skins folder that isn't there and it should be there
better yet, unzip the downloaded zip file using windows xp built in unzipping features which will do it correctly... , I set the max image width to 1000; previously it was null. Now I'm getting server errors:
page not found, then, service unavailable (the page is there). But in a new album, the images imported fine and it seems to be working now, despite the IIS issues.
I think my host restricted the amount of memory and resources my site is allowed to use. , Please try this URL www.telepedia.net/pages/chem_periex.asp
It is protected by GROUPACCESS "6" and the username:dimitris and password:tele
In the administration area, I have arranged this username as member of the group 6.
Thank you in advance for your help
, I had some issues with passwords not working. I cleared them up by
going to the affected user and typing in the desired password manually
on the edit screen. Worked like a champ every time, and I haven't had
to do that for some time now.
, The ASP error on the home page has been solved -There was aproblem with the path that was including the home page file and we fixed it.
However the error on the member page remains - any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. This is the error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for
process 0x748 Thread 0xad8 DBC 0x214734c Jet'.

, Hello,
I really need more infomation..
for starters
what is the server ? iis4,5, or 6 ?
what is the version of aspbanner.. aspbanner standard or aspbanner unlimited ?
what was the error message before you removed the "on error resume next"
was the sql database created using the sql creation scripts we provide as that is VERY important.
and lastly what are the the regional settings of the server ? what is the date format ? , Thanks Chris.
Yes i never actually considered that they should log in twice.
The site uses two main url and the cookie was being stored for only one
of them. I have fixed the double login issue by making changes to
menu to ensure that they are always logging only via the url stored in
the cookie.
Thanks for your hep,
Stuart
, If you need to know how to enable them on your test server.

, ... in addition it is a virtual include not a file. I just tried to use file instead of virtual and then the ../ includes worked on the asp pages.
This is strange because they used to work like that on the 2000 server I had these sites running on. , Oh, I just remembered something.. It's been a while since I did this... :)
Nevermind what I said above as that is a different sort of "debug"
When you want to debug like your talking about find this section in the "web.config"
<compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="false" />
change it to this
<compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="true" />
When you run the code in a production environment change it back though

, How and where does one add countries/cities to the list so that they appear in the Drop-Down list that advertisers see when they are placing a new ad?, Thanks for your rapid responses, your support is excellent!
It may be best that I stick with html then. You mention that is stresses the Version 7 software, would the unlimited version perform any differently if I use multiple zones?
Also, if I do go with a single zone, would either program be able to make sure each banner is unique, or would there by duplicates for each page view?
Sorry to post so many questions in one day. , I would like to create a login form on the home page which will not be password protected to the site for members so that they can login right from the home page and not a password protected page like many sites have. And every portal I have seen.
Plus the login form looks really pretty and proffesional on the home page ...
I can't find anything in the documentation that says how to do this or if it's even possible. Everything I have found says to password protect a page and then direct them there which isn't what I would like to do.
Here is the code of the login page which is an asp include file on the main page:
<html>
<head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> </head>
<body> <td><img src="images/a026.jpg" alt="" width="187" height="21"></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#EBEBEB"><table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td><table width="180" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#AAAAAA"> <tr> <td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1"></td> <td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="178" height="1"></td> <td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1"></td> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><form name="form_login" method="post" action=""> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="53%"><input name="textfield" type="text" class="style-01" value="username"></td> <td width="47%"><a href="#" class="link-02">Forgot pass?</a> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><input name="textfield2" type="text" class="style-01" value="password"></td> <td><a href="#" class="link-02">Not registered?</a> </td> </tr> </table> </form></td> <td><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1"></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3"><a href="#"><img src="images/a027.jpg" alt="" width="180" height="15" border="0"></a></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </body>
</html>
Does anybody know what values I would put in the form to send the correct login to AspProtect. And, if I would have to add any extra includes or code to it.
TIA , umm.. rename the pages to ".asp"
After all these are ASP scripts we are dealing with and the product is called ASPProtect.
The web site says it is used to protect ".asp" pages
And the directions tell you to put the protection code on ".asp" pages.
ASP can not run in ".html" pages
If you do not know basic things like this you should really learn the basics of ASP before you try to use the application. I would suggest a good book or two. ASPProtect is for people that have at least some experience with Active Server Pages. , The login page sends the user to redirect.asp (which is as follows)
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %> <!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"--> <% If InStr(Session("Groups"),"*1*") Then Response.Redirect("gp01.asp") End If %>
<% If InStr(Session("Groups"),"*2*") Then Response.Redirect("gp02.asp") End If %>
I am not being redirected to gp02.asp if I am a member of group2. Also, we wish users who are part of group 2 and 3 to go to a different page (ie. gp2-3.asp)
Thanks in advance.
, I just moved servers and now my "code" ads are giving me errors...
"google_ad_width" is undefined.
I have tried adding the width and height... taking it out.. all the basic stuff.
Any ideas?
TIA , I Dont know... it shouldnt do anything like that.
if it ever asks to download a aspx or asp page its generally a server configuration issue not related to the actual code
provided you arent trying to grab the injectbanner page through an iframe call which is only for use with the javascript method of calling banners ,
I was told by my ISP to use localhost and it should work and it does not. It does not require authentication to send e-mails.
Any other ideas?
Thanks , OK, well, that error is pretty self explanatory really. There isn't anything else it could mean.
What you showed me in that screen shot all looked correct, but still permissions to that file just can't be correct. The paths are correct. The path to the file looks correct. The ASPNET (ASP.NET) account looks correct.
I would try settings permissions directly on that XML file. Perhaps child permissions did not go through the way you intended. (the advanced tab must be used for that) If that doesn't work try giving ASPNET and Everyone full permissions on the file directly.
Possibly check the paths in the web.config file just for the heck of it.
Last case scenario, you can edit that XML file directly instead of using the screens in the application. Of course if that file does not have correct permission chances are other things like log files will give you issues as well.
That is all I can think of right now. , This post unfortutely needs to be here because this application has been the biggest pain in the neck for me you could possibly imagine. This is not because of problems with the application, but because of people's general lack of knowlegde regarding ASP.NET. This post totally voices my stance on what sort of knowledge you need to have and also the fact that I am not going to support anything but general installation on a correctly and professionaly set up live server.
ASPProtect.NET is a great application but using ASP.NET requires a lot more basic knowledge than using classic ASP and there are a lot of basic low level ASP.NET things that need to be set up correctly for an application like ASPProtect.NET to run. These are things I do not cover because you should know the ASP.NET basics when using an application as complex as this. It's just that I don't have time to nor should I have to teach people the basics of ASP.NET. I don't charge nearly enough for ASPProtect.NET to offer that kind of support.
So, I will say it one more time. ASPProtect.NET is targeted towards experienced Visual Studio.NET developers that know how to work with Code Behind VB.NET and are familiar with basic ASP concepts such as IIS application settings, the .NET framework, the aspnet_client folder, and the basics of the web.config file. If you are using ASP.NET for whatever reason you need to know about these things. The best way is to get some good books and do set up ASP.NET on a local development machine so you can start learning.
If you are one of the ASP.NET challenged let me say this as well.
Stick with Classic ASP. ASP.NET is a step in the wrong direction for the average user which I like to refer to as "Joe Coder". Classic ASP is very powerful and easy to pick up. ASP.NET is not easy to pick up and never will be for a lot of people. In my opinion it’s actually the wrong technology to use for anyone other than big corporations who need extreme scalability in their applications or for the hobbyist or object oriented programmer who just wants to use the latest and greatest. Ask yourself if you really want to deal with compiling Code Behind code each time you make changes to your web site as opposed to just editing some files in notepad real quick like you can do with classic ASP ? Do you have the money to purchase and use Visual Studio.NET or are you going to struggle with compiling all your ASP.NET pages using a command line compiler and a batch file ? Yes, you can build ASP.NET code that isn't code behind but why even bother if that is the case because your missing the point of ASP.NET if you do that and missing out on a lot of powerful new features and concepts.
When I do custom projects for bigger clients I usually end up using ASP.NET because they want to go that way and understand the time and money involved. When I do any of my own projects I use Classic ASP because the truth is you can still make some rockin busy scalable web sites with Classic ASP just like you can still make great web sites with CGI, PP, Cold Fusion.. etc etc. Look around the web because a lot of the biggest sites out there still use those scripting technologies and their stuff runs very well. ASP.NET is a lot of hype and although some things about it are plain awesome it is an environment best suited for real object oriented programmers, not the weekend code warriors.
The other thing to keep in mind about classic ASP is the shear abundance of applications and scripts available for it. ASP.NET can be expensive for that reason alone as there still is a shortage of good time tested applications out there and what is out there is always priced a lot higher.
In addition to that half of the ASP.NET applications out there are just half baked poorly converted versions of their Classic ASP counterparts. Is that the kind of thing you want to sink twice the money into or would you rather have something that runs well and has been tweaked year after year into a rock solid product?
To make things worse a lot of the hosting companies out there offering ASP.NET hosting are severely limiting the basic abilities of ASP.NET because of various security concerns. This means if you go with a Host that does that 75% of the asp.net stuff out there won't run on the hosted server. Isn't that wonderful ?
Now, Let's make things even worse. So far every time Microsoft has released a new version of ASP.NET a lot of things from the previous version have stopped working and needed to be modified to work correctly. Is that really something you will have the time, resources, and energy to deal with.
You may ask "but is classic ASP going to be around 5 years from now?" Though you never really know until the new version of windows server ships I say "Hell Yes" it will be. According to my sources at Port80 Software who work very closely with the folks at Microsoft (as well as many other sources out there) it will almost certainly be in Longhorn which is the next version of Windows Server. Longhorn probably won't come out until 2007 and will be popular for 3-4 years after that. The version of windows server after that will most likely support Classic ASP as well and if it doesn't I am sure there will be a way to make ASP run on it. If you really look around a lot of hosting companies are still running Windows Server 2000 which is 5 years old at the moment. The bottom line is Classic ASP helped put Microsoft web technologies on the map. Microsoft can not simply drop it because if they do they give up a dominate market share to the scripting competition being PHP, CGI, Cold Fusion.. etc etc PHP for instance a huge installed base on many platforms which are essentially free. ASP.NET can not compete with that in any way and not supporting Classic ASP would put microsoft in a bad position.
Take it from me. If you are a weekend code warrior/script kiddie. You'll be a lot happier sticking with classic ASP. You will also have save a lot of money and you can still have great web sites. There are tons of great applications out there in ASP and ASP still is and always will be the easiest scripting language to work with and learn. Better yet look around on sites like www.4guysfromrolla.com and see if you actually understand any of the latest articles. If it looks like Greek to you that is yet another sign that you should stick to classic ASP.
Personally, I will be focusing just as much time and effort on ASP.NET as I will on Classic ASP in the years to come for a few reasons.
- Because I sell software I obviously need to convert/re-write most of my appIications to work with ASP.NET. My living may eventually depend on it.
- Because I love using the latest technologies I want to continue to develop using ASP.NET.
- Because I do many custom projects for various clients using ASP.NET is a must.
- Because in some cases using ASP.NET over classic ASP makes total sense.
Just don't fall for the HYPE folks. I am one of the few established developers out there that has a set of Balls and is willing to put the truth out there and see past the bullsh*t. If you go ASP.NET do it because you seriosuly think you need the power and scalabilty and money and time is not an issue or because you are a hobbiest and object oriented programmer who likes working with and has time to work with the latest and greatest web scripting technolgies out there. I truly believe that so far ASP.NET is as much a success as it is a failure. I am sure some of you out there know what I mean by that.
All this being said you should also realize that ASPProtect.NET is a little different than your average ASP.NET application because it uses a lot of advanced ASP.NET techniques and you essentially use it to password protect your existing scripts meaning you need to integrate your stuff with our stuff in a sense. If you just go buy some random ASP.NET application like a classifieds system or storefront it is probably just going to run on it's own an therefore will be a lot easier to set up and deal with.

Chris Willians http://www.cjwsoft.com/about.asp ,
I pull that crap on myself once and a while... or my
favorite is leaving a bootable CD in the drive and then wondering why the heck
the OS doesn’t come back up. I pretty much promised myself back in 2002 that I
would never mess with anything minor after 10PM. For whatever reason I always
start messing around trying to "fix" something and end up sorry...
Granted if it’s an emergency I am all for it, but I get dresses in advance
anticipating the practically inevitable drive down to the datacenter.
Good luck with that, I am sure you will be much better off
in the long run.
, whether you use SSL or not really does not effect aspprotect in any way
I say, the smart thing to do there is too not start them off at a http:// url
one way to do it is put a simple ASP redirect on that default page and send them to an SSL version of the page instead...
http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/redirects.asp
another way would be not start them off on a protected page right off the bat and offer links to the the protected area...
in my opinion thats pretty odd to be starting them off on a protected page anyway SLL maybe, but protected right from the time they hit the default page of the site.. thats just odd.. usually you want o say a little something about the site your at and then link people to protected areas or give them a login form which posts to a protected area.
Regardless if you always want users at your site under https:// you should have code on every single page in your site checking the url info at every page load. Then if someone ever hits a page and is not using the https:// you can do something about it like redirect them to the SSL home poge or redirect to that same page but with the https:// in the url.. , I really do not know to tell you the truth. I'll do some research.
The script only allows .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif extensions.
If someone uploads a file called... "filename.vbs.jpeg" with bad vbscript in it I seriously doubt anything can happen because of it because of the extension.
But I really do not know.
It has never happened to any sites I have or know of.
cwilliams38447.0491435185, The Double DIM needs to be removed for this code to work properly.
<% Dim BannerZone, BannerConnectionString, BannerDatabaseType, ConnBannerSystem Dim CmdCheckUser, CmdGetConfiguration, App_Name, Config_SQL, BodyTag, BanDataConn Dim CmdBannerTemp, CmdGetZones, ZoneString, ZoneArray, ZoneIndex, CmdUpdateWaiting Dim CmdUpdateExpired, CmdRetrieveImpLimitedAds, CmdRetrieveImpressions Dim CmdUpdateImpHit, CmdRetrieveAds, CycleBannerTotal, CycleList, NewCycleList Dim Dim LoopBanner, CycleLoop, CycleListArray, CycleListArrayIndex, BannerCycleData Dim Banner_Array, CurrentBanner, NewCycleListArray, Banner_Array2, LocationIndex Dim Stop_Processing, Keep_Processing, CmdUpdateStats %> , I just finished implementing the V7 product on our site and someone made mention that on the profile form where you are asked all your personal and user information there are 2 fields for passwords. The first field uses masking to hide the password as you type it, where the second shows it in clear text.
Now we know that the only people able to see the password are the user and the administrator, but it is playing mind games with my users as they think there is a problem with the application. I am not a programmer (however, learning ASP slowly now!) and am not sure if you did this on purpose or if it is a bug?
If it was done on purpose, can you advise how I can make the confirm password field masked as well to eliminate the unfounded questions!
Thanks , Ow.
I haven't moved (or messed with) any critical files within the directory at all, just placed them as a job lot into a subdirectory call aspprotect.
All I did was put all the files directly into a directory rather than into the root because some of the subdirectories had the same name as some already in use and would therefore have been overwritten.
I'll go back and have another look in the cold light of day (its too late tonight UK time).
Thanks anyway. , ok, I am going to do that in the next few hours. I cant do it right now as I have a few other business's and something else needs my attention right now.
Chris, That is by design and how it is designed to function.
There is no easy way to do what you are asking about.
Can it be done ?, sure!!
But it is a lot of custom coding to sort it all out and not something we support.
If I were you I would simply edit the login box screen to show some hyperlinks and options should a person need to use them. , Please Note : ASPProtect v7.x has a new feature called groups that is much more powerful than access levels. Access Levels were left in the product primarily for existing customers that upgrade to the new version so they do not need to make a lot of changes to their site if they were using Access Levels.
More On Access Levels
Again, Examples of managing Access Levels are provided in the "multiple_access_levels" folder included in the root of the Password System. Look at the source code of the ASP pages in that folder with a text editor to see the working code.
Access Levels and how they work can be re-coded to work in many different ways. However, you have to be a good ASP developer to make changes to it. Here is some information on how they work by default.
In the "check_user_inc.asp" that comes in the root of this system Access Levels work as follows.
Level 1 has Access to - Level 1 Level 2 has Access to - Level 1,2 Level 3 has Access to - Level 1,2,3 Level 4 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4 Level 5 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5 Level 6 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6 Level 7 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Level 8 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ADMIN has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,ADMIN
Here is some additional info..
If the access levels are too restrictive you can ignore them all together and create your own totally custom solutions. Here is a quick rundown of some of the things you can do.
Ok... so if you want to be really specific about what each user can see and can't .. here's an example of what you can do
Don't use the access levels before the include file.. Don't worry about what you set a user to in the admin area since the access levels won't be used.
Do something like this..
Every time a user logs in session variables are set that you can access at any time.. thus allowing you to know who they are.
So you could do something like this...
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
<!--#INCLUDE FILE="check_user_inc.asp"-->
<% If Session("USERNAME") = "bob1267" or Session("USERNAME") = "carl45" or Session("ADMIN") = "True" Then Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "Yes" Else Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "No" Response.Redirect(Request.ServerVariables("script_name")) End If %>
The following URL explains what Redirects are. http://www.powerasp.com/content/code-snippets/redirects.asp
That would in effect create totally custom access levels.. but you would have to do it manually for each user.
You can also do things like this after a person logs in
Show custom html to any specific user based on either their username or access level ... like so
say there was a menu and a certain link should only show up to username "paully67"
you could do something like this
<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE></TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY>
<br> <a href="main.asp">Home Page</a> <% If Session("USERNAME") = "paully67" Then %> <br> <a href="paullys_page.asp">Pauls Stats Page</a> <% End If %> <br> <a href="links.asp">Links Page</a>
</BODY> </HTML>
Or you can show custom HTML or links based on Access Levels or any other info.
You can do just about anything with if-then statements and using the built in vbscript functions..
Hopefully this info will help to give you some ideas...
Bottom line is you have to do some work within your site to make the Access Level system really come alive. cwilliams38403.6781481481, Additional Information.
A set of these variables get created for every user that logs in to your site. For performance and memory conservation reasons some of them can be turned off and are optional.
If you look in the "check_user_inc.asp" file or the "check_admin_inc.asp" file you will see a section of code like this
' Start of optional session variables to be set ' Recommended that you remark out any of the session variables below that you don't really need to use ' This will save a lot of server resource because every user logged in has a set of these ' I added some code here to not create these if they are empty If CmdCheckUser("First_Name") <> "" Then Session("First_Name") = CmdCheckUser("First_Name") If CmdCheckUser("Last_Name") <> "" Then Session("Last_Name") = CmdCheckUser("Last_Name") If CmdCheckUser("Company_Name") <> "" Then Session("Company_Name") = CmdCheckUser("Company_Name") If CmdCheckUser("Email") <> "" Then Session("Email") = CmdCheckUser("Email") If CmdCheckUser("Address") <> "" Then Session("Address") = CmdCheckUser("Address") If CmdCheckUser("City") <> "" Then Session("City") = CmdCheckUser("City") If CmdCheckUser("State_Province") <> "" Then Session("State_Province") = CmdCheckUser("State_Province") If CmdCheckUser("Zipcode_Postal_Code") <> "" Then Session("Zipcode_Postal_Code") = CmdCheckUser("Zipcode_Postal_Code") If CmdCheckUser("Phone") <> "" Then Session("Phone") = CmdCheckUser("Phone") If CmdCheckUser("Custom1") <> "" Then Session("Custom1") = CmdCheckUser("Custom1") If CmdCheckUser("Custom2") <> "" Then Session("Custom2") = CmdCheckUser("Custom2") If CmdCheckUser("Custom3") <> "" Then Session("Custom3") = CmdCheckUser("Custom3") If CmdCheckUser("Custom4") <> "" Then Session("Custom4") = CmdCheckUser("Custom4") If CmdCheckUser("Custom5") <> "" Then Session("Custom5") = CmdCheckUser("Custom5") If CmdCheckUser("Custom6") <> "" Then Session("Custom6") = CmdCheckUser("Custom6") ' End of optional session variables to be set
If you do not need a particular variable to be set as a session variable simply comment that line out with single quote.
If you have an extremely busy site with a lot of users this is a good idea. If not, you probably don't need to bother doing this. I added some code in there so they will not be created if they are empty and that alone helps out a lot. cwilliams38419.5459606481, Nov 2005 , We would like to use some of the variables from the user account in our web pages after they log in (something like, 'hello <user>"), but for professional printout reports using company name and user.
Could you offer some help as to what variable string we use to print that information on logged in pages?
By the way, the program is working great!!! cwilliams38446.6302083333, I sent you a PM, no, that only applies to random pictures and stats..
The issues you are talking about usually relate to issues created by switching back and forth between a local install and a live server install and not being careful about changing the paths in the settings depending on where you are running it from.
For example.. it trying to use a url at the server level that is only valid when you are running it locally cwilliams38394.7554976852, Update..
I have support for the ibulc image uploading client working.
http://www.ibulc.com/
There is also an option in asp photo gallery pro to store the images original filename in the description field which is pretty cool.
Ibulc client bulk upload support currently only works with the pure vbscript upload or the safileup component. (I may support the other two components asp photo gallery can use but it really depends on time) The pure vbscript upload code I am using for this is much better than the code I was using before so that method should be offer decent performance for anyone though using a component is always better.
I still have to add the ibulc feature to the users side. It currently all only works for an admin user.
The whole process is very cool. You install the ibulc client on you computer. It's tiny, and free for uploading up to 10 (100kb) pictures at once. You have to by a domain license from them to do more than 10. Anyway.. it lets you select multiple pictures off your hard drive and it then uploads them all at once with individual progress info for each picture. Its really cool and since it really treats each picture as an individual upload it doesn't hammer the server with one big upload at once.
I also made it so you can start the picture uploads at any picture number. So if you already have pictures in an album you can add more without losing what is already there.
This was one of the main features of the new version and now that it is working hopefully I can tie up any loose ends and get the new version out soon. cwilliams38327.5488541667, ASPProtect v7 comes with working example code of protecting an image from being downloaded and also protects the true file location of the image on your server..
This comes with the system as an example folder with some files in it.
(some of the initial purchaser's of the system might not have that directory.. if that is the case please ask)
Here is how it works...
Basically we protect the image in 2 ways.
- We use Javascript right click disabling code that works in both IE and Firefox.
- We stream the image via a special password protected ".asp" page and use an image tag to call it. This hides the true location of the file. You can therefore keep your images out of your web or keep them in a folder in your web that does not allow file browsing. Under this scenario even if someone looks at the img tag html source they can not tell where the file came from. Doing all of this allows you to offer certain images only to people that are logged in.
All in all this is should be very effective protection. Yes, there are still ways to get the images like doing screen captures, but this will ensure that people viewing images are logged in to your site. This will in most cases keep them from right clicking and saving the images. This will ensure that people can not tell other people the image's url location and it will ensure other sites can not leach your images and bandwidth.
For the image protection examples to work you may need to edit some values in the stream_pic.asp file that are valid for your setup.
Look at the source. The values you can edit are commented.
Now, you also need to call a valid "image file name" from the call_pic.asp file which is an example of how you protect a page with javascript and call a streamed image using an image tag.
Lasty, here is a great article I found on image protection and some of the things you can do about it and some of things you cannot.
