First pass through, I don't see anything changed in the groups section of the check_user asp file. the logoff asp wasn't touched.
I noticed the demo online (on this site) only has pages protected with access levels; you say it works fine with groups also?

I need to be able to add about 9 checkboxes to the register.asp. would I be able to use one of the custom fields?
The other thing is once I add the checkboxes the value must be written to the DB and later read when displaying the person's Album.
Any idea on how I can do this.

could be permissions related too.. if they are not set correctly
(always give them to the folder, never just the mdb file)

you may want to download some of the different versions of the access database from the support area and try connecting to them as you may have older odbc drivers on the server
You may also want to try to get ASPTest from our website working before you go any further

, Oh, to clarify the above. We did not change any columns in your [Users] database or any other table., It's just a generic error that means one of 1000 different things is wrong.. there is a lot of information on in in these forums as well as links to articles about it.

usually it means permissions to the database folder are incorrect or the physical path you are specifying for your dsn-less connection is invalid..

, A nice addition for the listing script would be if the script would allow a "featured ad" or ads that would appear on the default page. , I'm using version 6 upgrade and recently some of the users complained that their passwords are no longer working. I was able to replicate the problem as I also experienced the same thing with my account.
Once I reset the password thru e-mail (Forgotten your password?), I am able to login but it fails later. This is weird as I have an identical copy of the code running flawlessly 
on my test server.
The only change which I made to the original downloadable code is by adding password encryption using Base 64 encryption.

Currently it can not possibly work with classic asp.
PayPal made it a nightmare to use and work with.
Special things regarding the signing of digital certificates also need to be installed on the web server so if it isn't your server your also out of luck.

The unlimited version can handle pretty much whatever., Your users with Internet Explorer may have received the "Page Expired" error. For ASPProtect users, it happens when the user is not logged on and tries to invoke the target page. check_user_inc.asp puts up the login form, and IE sees it as part of the target page. Any later attempt to Back up and reload from cache gives the errror.
My solution was, after successful login, instead of falling through the bottom of check_user_inc.asp and running the target page, I issue a re-direct to reload the target page. I also added META tags on the dynamic login form to say no-cache and expire now, so the re-direct really does reload the target page. This time, of course, check_user_inc.asp does not need to put up the login form, and the new target page in cache contains no form at all. So, IE will not give a Page Expired error when Backing up to it later.
Netscape, and I gather other browsers, do not behave the same way, so I limited the solution to IE. Also, the solution only works if the target page has no form of its own.
I'm uploading my customized version of check_user_inc.asp that contains this solution. (In it, I also used the Javascript focus method to place the "cursor" in the Username field when the login form loads.)

I did change the top_logo.gif and the associated link. That was on the default page not the Solid Black skin which is unchanged. After downloading/uploading the skins I tried changing it to one of the Beach skins and that's when it changed to Solid Black and has been stuck there ever since.

The import/export file must be tab delimited with no text qualifiers. The 1st row containing field names and the following each being a new user. To create your own import file it must be in this exact format. To find out what field names and their order are simply create an export file using ASPProtect and take a look at it. You can also import that text file into MSACCESS. , If you re-start the web via IIS, reboot the server, or (possibly) just add and remove a category... that will clear up.
ASPClassifieds and ASPListings must be installed in seperate IIS applications if they are the same web. Otherwise the category caching system of each system will interfere with each other. They were never intended to be installed in the same web together since ASPListings is merely a stripped down version of ASPClassifieds and they share a lot of the same code. Like I said though if different IIS applications are set up in the web site you can do it because each IIS application will have it's own set of application and session variables.
, You can't do that. ASPProtect 7 does not work with ASP.NET.
It is a classic ASP application. As the web site states it can only be used to protect ".asp" pages written using vbscript.
ASP and ASP.net are completely different animals.
Thats why we have a .NET version.

Generally you will want to use these on your xp development machine. You can of course use them on your real server if parent paths are enabled. Parent Paths are now disabled on II6 by default and some hosting company will not enable them.

Actually that is not a feature at this time. Only the admin can add an image for user. If you look at the code for that you could adapt it for individual user use fairly easily provided you are decent with ASP.
That feature will probably be added some day, but there was no time to add it to into the current version and I can not give you a time on when it will be added. The complicated part is making some sort of approval process in case a user adds something undesirable and also limited file sizes which is hard to do without somesort of 3rd party uplaod component being involved.

, been working on this for about 5 hours today.. I think I found the problem and it involves a vbNullChar that the encryption process is creating only during login attempts
it then messes up during ASPProtect authentication because it blows up the SQL Statement to the database
like I mentioned before the chances off this happening are slim but possible as two people so far have been able to create the situation
I seem to have the HANNAH password working now using your encrption key
I need a little bit more time to clean up the files I have been working on. Then I will give you new "check_user_inc.asp" and "check_admin_inc.asp" files to try out

Best setup I recomend is just setting up a rig and making a workgroup.
No real reason for a production machine to have any access to internal
security when you think about it.
classic asp should be pretty easy to move, just set up new webs and
dump the scripts in there. If you have 2 machines its always easier to
look at the one while your building the other. Basically copy the setup
and tada... the only thing you might need to remeber is components (if
your using any) and thats usually not a very big deal either.
Point sort of being at some point your going to have to change that
thing around and while its no fun you have to imagine now is a better
time to bite the bullet and get it set up the right way. Your
alternative is to mess around for hours and hours praying that you
change domain wide security to the point that running NET
apps on that domain controller works. Personally I wouldnt sleep well
knowing I had just messed around so bad with the OS that I had no clue
what bugs and security holes I might have accidently opened in the
process. I wont even get into the possible things that might stop
working on the rest of the domain if you fiddle with accounts like
"Network Service"
Oh and if thats not enough reason to make you think about it, consider
how hard it will be to try and rember what you did at 2AM 6 months from
now if that machine takes a dive or some critical update undoes what
you changed.
I feel for you though, trust me we have all been down that road once or
twice. Get some sleep and in the AM the task at hand wont seem nearly
as bad. You live and you learn, and you will definatly be WAY better
off making things right sooner than later
, I have reviewed the permissions requirements for folders from the support documentation but do not see the 'internal guest' account shown in our system to allow internet access to read/write to the access database.
How else can we locate the proper account (or is it possible there is none?) to use to allow permissions to access the Data directory if it doesn't show up as 'Internal Guest'?
