I have run into problems with this before. First you need to distinguish whether or not you are running CDO in process or out of process. If ASP that is calling CDO is in the "default" directory, then you should be just fine. If you are running CDO as an MTS package or in a seperate web application, then you must make sure that the IWAM_MachineName account is in the "operators" section of the SMTP server.
