I have an asp page that automatically downloads a file to the users machine. I am doing this using the redirect method of the response object.
I am redirecting the user to a file .IMF which I have set on IIS as mime type application/octet-stream. This works fine on IE on NT. The browser prompts me to save the file to disk. It also works on Netscape on both platforms.
However, on IE on the Mac, it simply opens the file as if it were text. The following is the code I use:
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
Response.Redirect("/metafiles/" + strFileOut);
Response.End()
If I type in the same URL in the browser on the Mac, it works fine. It simply doesnt work when I use the redirect method.
Any ideas ? Is there another way to do this ?
