Don Nelson lost his cool, and Gilbert Arenas kept his. Nash carries Suns past Lakers 99-94 (AP)
The Phoenix Suns usually sprint to victory. With their "mojo" severely lacking Sunday, they staggered to one. Steve Nash scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half -- including two free throws with 5.4 seconds to play -- and the Suns held on to beat the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers 99-94. Mehmet Okur sees Utah's recent success on the road as a promising sign for the Jazz come playoff time. Richardson lifts Avs over Wings in OT (AP)
Scoring goals isn't usually Brad Richardson's biggest contribution, but he got a big one on Sunday. His effort 2:41 into overtime lifted the Colorado Avalanche past the Red Wings 4-3, the team's second win in their last 10 against Detroit. Milan Hejduk had a goal and an assist, and Tyler Arnason and Brett McLean also scored for Colorado.

Sharks snap season-high four-game slide (AP)
San Jose coach Ron Wilson has been nagging his team about playing with more determination, and the Sharks finally delivered the gritty effort Wilson has been seeking. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 26 shots for his 32nd career shutout, Joe Pavelski scored two goals, and the Sharks snapped a season-long four-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Canucks beat Wild in six-round shootout (AP)
In a tight Northwest Division race where every point is key, Roberto Luongo and Daniel Sedin got the Vancouver Canucks an important extra one. Sedin beat Nicklas Backstrom, and Luongo stopped Pierre-Marc Bouchard in the sixth round of a shootout to give the Canucks a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night.

MacDonald backstops Bruins past Devils (AP)
Joey MacDonald made sure Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas enjoyed a rare day off. Joey MacDonald stopped 26 shots in his first career start with Boston and the Bruins inched a little closer to a playoff spot with a 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night. "Timmy has been playing unbelievable," MacDonald said after giving Thomas his first night off since Jan.

Hossa, Lehtonen lead Thrashers by 'Canes (AP)
The Atlanta Thrashers are 3-0 since making two big moves before the trade deadline, but it's the holdover players who are making the biggest difference. Marian Hossa scored two goals and Kari Lehtonen had 35 saves to help Atlanta beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 on Sunday. The Thrashers moved into a tie with Tampa Bay for first place in the Southeast Division.

Blackhawks knock off Senators in SO (AP)
Radim Vrbata scored when it was needed most for the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Vrbata connected as Chicago's fourth shooter in the shootout to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. He also scored two goals in regulation, including one that tied it with 1:59 left, to help Chicago rally from a 3-1 deficit to end a three-game losing streak.

Ryan Smyth is already feeling comfortable in his new surroundings and the New York Islanders' power play is benefiting from his presence. The Calgary Flames didn't look like the worst road team in the NHL against the struggling Oilers.
